This week Seth Paridon, Jon Parshall and their buddy, John McManus, talk about the initial Japanese landings on Luzon in December 1941. The guys get into the very real panic that was in Manila following the debacle at Clark Field and how the citizenry reacted to the news that the Japanese were indeed going to invade. The landings at Aparri, Legaspi and Vigan are discussed as are the main Japanese landings at Lingayen Gulf and MacArthur's response to those landings and the actions that follow. The early actions of the 26th Cavalry as well as Wainwright and others are discussed as we continue the set-up for the disaster that is soon coming on Bataan. #wwiihistory #ww2 #usnavy #usa #usarmy #medalofhonor #enterprise #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #cv6 #midway #wwii #wwiihistory #ww2 #worldwar2 #usnavy #usnavyseals #usmc #usmarines #saipan #usa #usarmy #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #battleship #battleships #ussenterprise #aircraftcarriers #museum #essex #halsey #taskforce38 #wwii #wwiihistory #ww2 #usnavy #usa #usarmy #medalofhonor #enterprise #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #cv6 #midway #wwii #wwiihistory #ww2 #worldwar2 #usnavy #usnavyseals #usmc #usmarines #saipan #usa #usarmy #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #battleship #battleships #ussenterprise #aircraftcarriers #museum #hollywood #movie #movies #books #mastersoftheair #8thairforce #mightyeighth #100thbombgroup #bloodyhundredth #b17 #boeing #airforce wwii #wwiihistory #ww2 #usnavy #usa #usarmy #medalofhonor #enterprise #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #cv6 #midway #wwii #wwiihistory #ww2 #worldwar2 #usnavy #usnavyseals #usmc #usmarines #saipan #usa #usarmy #aircraft #aircraftcarrier #battleship #battleships #ussenterprise #aircraftcarriers #museum #hollywood #movie #movies #books #oldbreed #1stMarineDivision #thepacific #Peleliu #army #marines #marinecorps #worldwar2 #worldwar #worldwarii #leytegulf #battleofleytegulf #rodserling #twilightzone #liberation #blacksheep #power #prisoner #prisonerofwar #typhoon #hurricane #weather #iwojima#bullhalsey #ace #p47 #p38 #fighter #fighterpilot #b29 #strategicstudying #tokyo #boeing #incendiary #usa #franklin #okinawa #yamato #kamikaze #Q&A #questions #questionsandanswers #history #jaws #atomicbomb #nuclear #nationalarchives #nara #johnford #hollywood #fdr #president #roosevelt #doolittle #doolittleraid #pearlharborattack #salvaged #medalofhonor #tarawa #malayalam #singapore #guadalcanal #china #burma #oil #marinecorps

From glowing discs hovering over fields, to objects that break the laws of physics, the state's history is filled with encounters that leave you wondering what might actually be out there. And these are not mere passing glimpses; these are encounters that can leave a witness profoundly shaken – altered for life. There's the Carbondale incident, where strange lights in a lake sent people into a panic. There's the experienced aviator who encountered something that decades in the cockpit could not explain. There are numerous accounts of silent craft and disc-shaped objects, eerie lights in the sky — occasions when the stars were blotted out. There are reports of the stopping of time, an encounter that had state troopers speechless, and even an extraterrestrial werewolf-like entity. From the earliest sightings in 1917 through more modern accounts, Pennsylvania's connection to the UFO phenomenon is undeniable, if not unbelievable. Copyright ©2026, Weird Darkness.Originally aired: February 24, 2025Weird Darkness traces more than a century of unexplained encounters in the skies over Pennsylvania, from a glowing disc submerged in a Carbondale lake to a werewolf-faced figure tied to a silent craft, the apparent stopping of time outside New Kensington, and the geography researchers believe may explain why the Keystone State draws so many sightings. It opens with the Carbondale incident of November 1974, when teenagers Bill Lloyd, John Lloyd, and Bob Gillette watched a golden-white light streak from the direction of Salem Mountain and drop near the lake outside Russell Park. A disc-shaped glow moved beneath the water, the surface fizzed and turned a sickly green-yellow, and when Officers Barbero and Jacobina fired their weapons at it, the object appeared to dodge the shots. The boys overheard a police radio order to hold off the news media, watched a scuba diver surface screaming, and saw a crane and delivery truck brought to the water's edge under the eye of Police Chief Francis Dottle — only for divers to later produce a single old railroad worker's lantern and declare the whole thing a hoax. Matt Graeber of the UFO Report and Information Center in Philadelphia arrived at five in the morning to find a crowd of between fifteen hundred and three thousand people ringing the lake. From there the episode moves to February 1975 in Simpson, where a driver on Route 171 joined other motorists pulled over to watch red and green lights hover before a white beam appeared and the object shot off faster than a fighter jet. That June, two friends fishing at Red Bank near the Allegheny Reservoir tracked a craft that stopped dead in midair and hovered for roughly an hour, then heard KDKA radio report at six-thirty that morning that a UFO had crashed into an eastern Pennsylvania lake and the National Guard had it surrounded, before the story disappeared from every outlet. Near Erie around the same stretch, two motorists stopped to study a silent disc about eighty feet across hanging a thousand feet up, ringed with red, yellow, blue, and green lights, and afterward never spoke of it to each other again.Next comes Oil City on November 1, 1974, where CB radio chatter about lights near the Vocational Technical Center across from Oil City High School drew a group of brothers out to look. They found three or four bright lights spread miles apart, moving in geometric formations no aircraft could manage, performing for nearly two hours in front of hundreds of onlookers. The account then shifts to Saylor's Lake in Monroe County on the evening of March 1, 1973, where lights began darting fifteen hundred feet above the water around seven-thirty, shifting between white, red, and blue. State Trooper Jeffrey Hontz, sent to investigate, later told the press the display looked like Christmas trees flying in the air. Witnesses counted roughly forty separate lights, all of them silent at an altitude where planes or helicopters would have roared, and the spectacle lasted until just before eleven. That summer of 1973 in Erie, a teenager sleeping in a backyard tent to escape the heat saw a red, star-like object cross the sky with apparent purpose and ran inside to fetch his grandmother. By the time the two returned, the sky had filled with colored star-like objects moving at impossible angles and near-collisions before they winked out of existence rather than flying away, and the grandmother, though she had watched the whole half-hour, afterward refused to discuss any of it.The most frightening encounter belongs to Bensalem on August 27, 1973, when Alan and Elsie Wainwright saw a boomerang-shaped craft glide silently over their home, halt overhead, and d

Episode Summary In this episode, I sit down with Wain Yu to unpack a powerful and deeply personal conversation around leadership and neurodiversity. We explore how understanding neurodivergent traits—both in ourselves and others—can completely transform the way we lead, manage, and connect. Wain shares his journey as a technology leader, researcher, and father, and how those experiences shaped his perspective on unlocking human potential. We also dive into practical leadership insights: how to move beyond “fixing weaknesses,” why environments matter more than we think, and how traits like hyperfocus and curiosity can become superpowers in the right context. If you've ever wondered how to better support diverse thinkers on your team—or even better understand yourself—this episode will challenge the way you think about performance, inclusion, and leadership.   Final Thoughts If this episode got you thinking differently about leadership and human potential, make sure to follow, rate, and share the Breakfast Leadership Show. On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys kick things off by talking about Kyle and Luke's recent trip to the Texas Fright Fest, where Luke finally got the chance to meet horror icon Matthew Lillard along with several other legendary figures from the world of horror and the paranormal. Then, they dive headfirst into the strange and unexplained.First, the guys discuss the disturbing account of Homer, Alaska resident Lisa Merrell, who between 2013 and 2018 claimed to witness small crawler-like humanoids moving silently through the trees near her property. What began as fleeting glimpses through binoculars allegedly escalated into repeated sightings of numerous entities, followed by a horrifying transformation of the surrounding forest itself. Years later, when Lisa returned to the location with a television crew, they reportedly found the trees blackened, rotten, and dying. Then, a chilling encounter out of Red River, New Mexico involving a mysterious deer-like creature seen twice by the same man years apart. The story takes an even darker turn after his girlfriend witnesses the same entity for herself, leaving both of them convinced that whatever they encountered may have followed them home.Next, the guys explore a bizarre and deeply unsettling series of experiences connected to the Bear Canyon and Bear Peak trail areas near Boulder, Colorado. In the early 1980s, one resident experienced an intense nighttime vision warning him to stay away from the area near the Flatirons. Decades later, another individual described an eerily similar encounter involving overwhelming dread, psychological pressure, and an unshakable feeling that something unseen was watching. The mystery becomes even more compelling considering the region's deep Indigenous history and long-standing reputation for strange activity. After that, they cover a terrifying encounter from a West Texas patrol officer who found himself face-to-face with a tall, dark, foul-smelling figure while working a quiet late-night shift through isolated farmland lined with abandoned orchards and towering cornfields. What started as a routine stop quickly turned into something out of a nightmare. Even more disturbing, another deputy reportedly encountered the same entity a year later in the same area, leaving behind one unforgettable piece of evidence — a massive handprint pressed onto the patrol vehicle. Finally, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran recounts two unforgettable wilderness encounters from his military service. The first involved unexplained voices heard during winter training exercises near Algonquin Provincial Park. The second, far more physical incident occurred near Wainwright, Alberta, where he claims to have witnessed a massive reddish-brown, hair-covered creature violently attacking a white-tailed buck in broad daylight — an image he says stayed with him for the rest of his life. All of this and more on this eerie installment of Expanded Perspectives.Sponsors:LEAN: Right now they're having a HUGE Memorial Day Sale and LEAN is 25% OFF. What if the person you're frustrated with at work isn't lazy, careless, or “not leadership material,” but simply stuck in an environment that works against how their brain operates? That question sits at the center of my conversation with Wainwright Yu, a senior technology executive and leadership coach who specializes in neurodiversity and cognitive diversity. We get personal quickly, starting with the moment an employee disclosed ADHD during a performance conversation, and the gut-punch of hearing the same possibility raised about his own child soon after. From there, we move into practical, strengths-based leadership. We talk about why the Golden Rule breaks down at work, especially when attention, executive function, and processing styles differ, and how the Platinum Rule helps us lead people as they are. Wainwright shares a powerful example of role fit: a struggling employee becomes highly successful when his work shifts from process compliance to complex problem solving. The lesson is bigger than ADHD at work. Every human is “uneven,” and the best managers learn how to align tasks to strengths, values, and energy rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all standard. We also unpack how to find hidden strengths, how to reframe traits like impulsivity, mind-wandering, and anxiety into courage, creativity, and foresight, and how to build team norms that support differences without turning them into a spotlight or a stigma. You'll leave with concrete ideas for psychological safety, better conversations outside performance reviews, and small adjustments that remove friction while keeping standards high.If this sparks an insight, subscribe, share the episode with one leader who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What's one strengths conversation you'll have this week?

Reference Material: Day 5 The Right to Counsel and Identifications Understanding the Sixth Amendment's Role in Criminal Procedure: From Basics to ComplexitiesThis episode offers a deep yet approachable exploration of the Sixth Amendment — its historical roots, when it attaches, and the limits that define its scope. As criminal law continues to evolve, understanding how rights are protected during various phases of prosecution is essential for any legal observer. Most wrongful convictions happen because of a single fragile piece of evidence: eyewitness identification. Despite decades of scientific research revealing just how unreliable human memory is, the law still relies on outdated tests and bright-line rules that rubber-stamp misidentifications. If you're serious about mastering criminal procedure—and protecting the innocent—you need to understand the critical distinction between the Sixth Amendment's exposure-triggered right to counsel and the due process analysis used when the law is suggestive or unreliable. In this episode, we break down how and when the Sixth Amendment attaches, the critical importance of the Wade-Gilbert rule, and the pervasive danger of suggestive police procedures like live lineups and photo arrays. You'll discover why the “Biggers Factors” often mislead courts, how scientific advances in memory research expose their flaws, and why confidence is the worst indicator of truth. We'll also explore cutting-edge reforms—like double-blind administration and sequential lineups—that are transforming police practices, even if they're not yet part of constitutional minimums. Most importantly, you'll learn a step-by-step framework to attack eyewitness evidence on exams and in court: separate the Sixth Amendment timeline from due process scrutiny, analyze suggestiveness and reliability independently, and understand the deep vulnerabilities posed by emerging technologies like deepfakes. With wrongful convictions on the rise, this episode is essential listening for anyone preparing to fight for justice in a scientific age.Whether you're a law student, a future attorney, or a judge-in-the-making—this is your guide to navigating the intersection of law, memory, and technology, and safeguarding the rights that protect the innocent.Get ready to see criminal procedure in a whole new light—because real justice depends on it.Main insights:The evolution from the pay-to-play system to the constitutional right to counsel, highlighted by Gideon v. Wainwright. The critical significance of attachment — the moment the Sixth Amendment right to counsel comes into effect, often misunderstood but vital for exam success. The offense-specific limitation, explained through the Blockburger test, demonstrating how defenses are confined to charged crimes.Practical implications of the waiver of the right to counsel, emphasizing the importance of a voluntary, knowing, and intelligent waiver, especially post-2009 changes.Essential distinctions between pre-charge and post-charge procedures, with focus on the different applications of Fifth and Sixth Amendments. The Messiah Doctrine and its impact on undercover agents, jailhouse informants, and the deliberate elicitation of statements. The timeline for attachment and its critical role in analyzing police interrogations and lineup procedures, including problematic scenarios like warrantless arrests and informal interrogations. The offense-specific protection limits in lineups and identifications, sharp application of the Blockburger test, and the implications for uncharged but related crimes.Contrasts between the Wade-Gilbert rule, live lineups, and photo arrays, clarifying when counsel must be present and when identifications can be challenged as suggestive or unreliable. The Biggers Factors and their weaknesses in light of contemporary cognitive science, raising questions about reliability and reform strategies such as double-blind lineups, sequential procedures, and immediate conf

In this episode, we're joined by professor Joel Wainwright (co-author of Climate Leviathan) to discuss his newest book, The End: Marx, Darwin, and the Natural History of the Climate Crisis. Together, Breht and Joel explore the intellectual impact Charles Darwin had on Karl Marx, and why it matters for the ecological crisis of our time. Wainwright argues that Marx's study of Darwin helped him develop a distinctly Marxian concept of natural history, reshaping how he understood history, nature, and capitalism itself. Reading Capital through this lens, they unpack how Marx's critique becomes an ecological critique: capitalism as a social formation that reorganizes the human–Earth relation, producing crisis, "surplus" populations, and new forms of domination - and have some fun disagreements along the way. They close by asking what this natural-historical Marx can contribute to building an eco-socialist alternative beyond capitalist growth and climate catastrophe. After Friday's news that Center for Biologics Evaluation & Research Chief Vinay Prasad will leave the FDA—again—at the end of April, stocks for several rare disease drug developers popped. UniQure, in particular, was up 51% in premarket trading on Monday. Prasad in a meeting last Thursday with select journalists called the biotech's Huntington's treatment AMT-130 a “failed” therapy, according to STAT News. Shares of Replimune and REGENXBIO—which have suffered rejections during the past year—also rose. One person who is not impressed with the plethora of rare disease drug rejections of late—H.C. Wainwright said in a note Tuesday that there have been at least five cell and gene therapies they believe could have been approved under prior FDA officials—is Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson. Tuesday, Bloomberg News reported that Johnson has launched an investigation into these recent denials.Johnson called the FDA's request that uniQure conduct a sham surgery-controlled trial of AMT-130 “bureaucratic idiocy,” according to the publication. Meanwhile, uniQure and the FDA appear to be on different pages regarding the design of this prospective trial, with uniQure Chief Medical Officer Walid Abi-Saab referring to a 10-12 hour surgery during which [burr] holes would be drilled in patients' skulls and Prasad claiming on a media call last week that it would require only “one to three nicks in the scalp.”In other news, no episode of The Weekly would be complete without our weekly weight loss segment. Roche and Zealand Pharma's amylin analog fell short of Eli Lilly's rival candidate eloralintide; AbbVie reported what analysts called “competitive” results, with its amylin analog eliciting nearly 10% weight loss at 13 weeks in a Phase 1 trial; and Regeneron touted a much-needed Phase 3 win for Hansoh-partnered dual GLP-1/GIPR agonist olatorepatide in China. Beyond data, Novo Nordisk and Hims & Hers are together again, with Novo striking a deal to sell its injectable and oral GLP-1 medicines through the telehealth provider.Elsewhere on the business side of biopharma, experts are reporting a cut-throat atmosphere behind doors on the M&A front as the supply of companies available to buy dwindles.

Pfizer reported the first data from its new obesity pipeline, picked up in the nearly $10 billion acquisition of Metsera last fall. While BMO Capital Markets said in a Tuesday note that the data “look competitive,” analysts clamored for more details on Pfizer's earnings call the same morning—and were left wanting more. Meawhile, Merck batted away accusations of “modest growth” from analysts on its own earnings call, as CEO Robert Davis touted “probably the broadest and widest pipelinewe've had in years.” These calls followed Roche last week and Johnson & Johnson before that, but earnings season is just getting started. On the docket today is Eli Lilly, which has been acquisitive of late, plus Novo Nordisk, Novartis, AbbVie and more.  On the regulatory front, the FDA is expected to decideon eight products this month, including REGENXBIO's Hunter syndrome gene therapy RGX-121. The biotech ran into a regulatory snag last week, however, as the FDA placed a clinical hold on two of its programs, including RGX-121. The agency also launched its much-anticipated PreCheck pilot program, which aims to make it easier for companies to build manufacturing plants in the U.S. And President Donald Trump's TrumpRx platform is delayed, potentially amid anti-kickback concerns.  In ClinicaSpace this week, we took a deep dive intothe resurgent psychedelics space, which could see two companies—Compass Pathways and Definium—submit FDAapplications this year. H.C. Wainwright analyst Patrick Trucchio told BioSpace 2026 is set to be “the biggest year from a clinical data standpoint,” since the firm began covering Compass in 2018. And check your inboxes Wednesday for BioPharmExecutive, where we take a look back at the banner IPO year that was 2021: Where are these companies now?

...in which we embark on a memorial walk to Innominate Tarn on Haystacks to ask the question: How did fell-walker Alfred Wainwright impact on so many lives? Closing a year of AW anniversaries – including the 70th anniversary of the publication of his first Pictorial Guide – we set out from Honister in the company of a string of guests whose lives have been touched or changed by the Blackburn-born rambler, artist and guidebook writer. Chatting as we wander – through dense clag and worsening rain – we meet walker Richard Jennings, who completed his 214 at 2:14 on the 21st of the fourth, 2014 (definitely not an obsessive!), and who credits AW with his move to the Lakes. We catch up with geographer-legend Chris Jesty – the only person authorised by AW to update his Guides – who chats about camping on Scafell Pike for six months "waiting for clear weather", about the 10-year three-month update odyssey, and why the Howgills and Outlying Fells are his backwater favourites. Arriving at Dubs Hut, we are joined by brothers Mike and Paul Duff from Kendal. who accompanied dad Percy and Betty Wainwright onto Haystacks in March '91 to scatter AW's ashes, and who recall their old family friend – the "foreigner from Blackburn" who sunk roots deep in Westmorland. Anna Nolan from Keswick is our next guest – a bagging record-breaker currently on her 11th round of the Wainwrights by bus, with a cumulative tally of 6,000+ fells and counting. Sculptor Clive Barnard recounts his experience of working with AW on the bronze bust now resident in Kendal Museum, remembering the 'big, amiable bear' with a commercially savvy mind who made "awful" cups of tea. In thickening clag, we meet Chris and Lorena Linke from Florida, who fell in love with long distance walking, after completing AW's Coast to Coast Walk, and discuss the under-acknowledged community created by the C2C, life lessons taught by through-walks, and the unique storytelling artistry of the Guides. Arriving at our pilgrimage end-point of Innominate Tarn, we pay our respects to former Westmorland Gazette print manager Andrew Nicholl – one of the unsung heroes of the AW story, who did so much for the ex-fellwanderer, his book sales and his profile. Beside the hallowed 'gravely shore' of the misty tarn, Chris and his wife Priscilla reflect on Andrew's legacy, and the poignant 'guard of honour' final trip he made onto Haystacks to say farewell to his old friend. Happy New Year to all, from Mark and Dave! This conversation is not about ‘surviving' menopause. It's about claiming power, pleasure, and potency on the other side of it.Sally sits down with Carla Wainwright, holistic wellness coach, sexual awakening facilitator, and self-described midlife alchemist, for a deeply grounding, myth-shattering conversation about what really happens when women cross the threshold of midlife. With a background in biology, homeopathy, and over 30 years of embodiment work, Carla bridges science and the sacred in a way that feels both practical and deeply liberating. This isn't woo for the sake of woo, and it's not cold science either. It's the place where metabolism, trauma, hormones, pleasure, and power actually meet.In this episode, we talk about why menopause is not a decline but a rite of passage. Why so many women feel unprepared for it, and why the years after perimenopause can become the most creative, sexually alive, and authentic chapter of a woman's life…if she's supported properly.Carla shares how her own journey — from wildlife biologist working with endangered species to guiding women through sexual healing and midlife transformation — came full circle when she entered perimenopause herself. What emerged was a model she calls sacred metabolism: tending not just to blood sugar and hormones, but to the nervous system, the inner child, and the feminine life force itself. We explore why unstable blood sugar can keep women stuck in fight-or-flight, amplify trauma, worsen menopausal symptoms, and quietly erode desire. Why pleasure isn't indulgent. And why many women lose touch with intimacy, not because something is wrong with them, but because no one ever taught them how to stay connected to their bodies as they change. This episode also dives into sex in midlife — honestly, tenderly, and without shame. We talk about why desire changes, why stress is the ultimate libido killer, and why reconnection always starts with the relationship you have with yourself. No pressure to perform. No swinging from chandeliers. Just curiosity, safety, and choice. You'll also hear:Why menopause can make women less people-pleasing and more clear about what they wantHow sexual energy shifts when menstruation ends — and why some traditions call this phase “the second spring.”The link between trauma resurfacing and perimenopauseWhy women initiate most divorces between 45–55How sacred feminine practices reconnect women to intuition, creativity, and embodied wisdomThe myths about menopause that quietly serve patriarchySimple daily practices that build momentum when you feel stuck in survival modeThis is a conversation about remembering who you are — in your body, in your desire, and in your power — at a stage of life that has been deeply misunderstood

About Wainwright Yu Wainwright Yu is a technology executive and leadership coach who currently serves as the General Manager and Director for Amazon's externalized fulfillment services, including Buy with Prime and Multichannel Fulfillment. Over a distinguished thirteen-year tenure at Amazon, he has launched transformative products for Kindle and Amazon Logistics while training emerging leaders through executive development programs. As a scholar-practitioner and father to four multi-exceptional children, he brings a unique, personal perspective to cognitive diversity in the workplace. Through his diverse work in global business operations and private coaching, Wainwright remains dedicated to his mission of establishing mindful, compassionate leadership as the standard for the modern professional world. About Amazon Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. Amazon strives to be Earth's Most Customer-Centric Company, Earth's Best Employer, and Earth's Safest Place to Work. Customer reviews, 1-Click shopping, personalized recommendations, Prime, Fulfillment by Amazon, AWS, Kindle Direct Publishing, Kindle, Career Choice, Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Echo, Alexa, Just Walk Out technology, Amazon Studios, and The Climate Pledge are some of the things pioneered by Amazon. Key Takeaways: Beyond FBA: Unlocking Amazon's Fulfillment for Retailers In "Beyond FBA: Unlocking Amazon's Fulfillment for Retailers", Joe Lynch and Wainwright Yu, the General Manager and Director for Amazon's externalized fulfillment services, including Buy with Prime and Multichannel Fulfillment, discuss how retailers can scale their brands by leveraging Amazon's global logistics and the Prime badge to drive multi-channel growth. Leveling the Playing Field with MCF: Wainwright explains how Multi-Channel Fulfillment allows any retailer—whether they sell on Amazon or not—to tap into Amazon's global network of 200+ fulfillment centers. This turns Amazon into a high-performance 3PL that handles picking, packing, and shipping for orders from your own website, Shopify, or even social media stores. The "Halo Effect" of Buy with Prime: A major focus is how Buy with Prime allows D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) sites to offer the familiar Prime logo and checkout experience. By providing the same fast, free delivery promise shoppers trust on Amazon, retailers have seen an average 25% lift in conversion rates on their independent sites. Unified Inventory Management: Wainwright discusses the strategic advantage of a single pool of inventory. Instead of splitting stock between various warehouses, retailers can keep all their products in Amazon's centers to fulfill both Amazon.com orders (via FBA) and off-Amazon orders (via MCF), drastically reducing out-of-stock risks. Frictionless Checkout via Amazon Pay: With Buy with Prime, the checkout process is streamlined using the customer's existing Amazon account details. This reduces "cart abandonment" because shoppers don't have to enter credit card or shipping info, making the purchase as simple as a few clicks. Unbranded Packaging Options: A common concern for retailers is brand identity. Wainwright highlights that MCF orders can be shipped in unbranded, "blank box" packaging, allowing the retailer's brand to remain front and center rather than being overshadowed by Amazon's smile logo. Trust-Building through Reviews: Through Buy with Prime, retailers can now display their Amazon.com star ratings and reviews directly on their own websites. This social proof helps "new-to-brand" shoppers feel confident enough to buy from a site they may be visiting for the first time. Predictable, All-In Pricing: Wainwright clarifies that both services offer a simple, transparent fee structure that includes storage, picking, packing, and shipping. For many brands, this eliminates the hidden costs of managing private warehouses and allows for more accurate margin forecasting. Coach and educator Carla Wainwright joins Dr. Gillian in episode 238 to reframe midlife (about 40–65) as a gateway rather than a decline. You'll learn simple micro‑resets (breath, grounding, nature time), how to stack small rituals, and why cultivating daily moments of joy/connection boosts oxytocin and nitric oxide—two chemistry cues that counter cortisol, support repair, and enhance mitochondrial and brain function. The conversation also touches on individualized choices around HRT, sleep strategies, and the power of community, movement, and mindful communication at any age. Practical, compassionate, and doable. For years, one family in rural America endured an unrelenting haunting that seemed to center on a single hallway. It began with fleeting sensations—a tug on the shoulder, a weight pressing down in the dark, and shadows that moved just out of sight. But soon the haunting revealed its depth: a faceless figure by the bed, voices answering from empty rooms, and a child who appeared only to vanish moments later. The source of the disturbance lay buried much deeper than anyone imagined. Across the street sat a forgotten 1800s cemetery—the Wainwright family plot—and, beneath their very home, the unmarked graves of enslaved people lost to time. As a child, the storyteller had unknowingly taken a fragment from one of those graves. Years later, dreams of a woman buried beneath the floor began to torment them. When that small piece of stone was finally returned to its rightful resting place, the shadows lifted. The house fell quiet. But peace came with a lesson—one that echoes across generations.
