Changes are never cheap. Remodeling a house is expensive . . . but restoring a home is infinitely more costly! No one ever worked through a difficult, hurting marriage without paying a very high price. This fact alone causes many partners to refuse the process. The pain of changing is, in the opinion of many, too great to bear. But for those who do change, how sweet it is! God declares that the husband-wife relationship is to portray the deep, close, loving relationship Christ has with His bride, the church. When a Christian marriage is dissolved, God loses one of the greatest theological seminaries in the world. How difficult it becomes to declare the love of Christ when marriages are destroyed!Download Message Mates To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1118/29

Presented at Curwensville Alliance on 4/27/25 by Pastor Steve Shields. Listen as Pastor Steve goes through the parable found in Luke 14:28-33. This message is for the disciples. All of Jesus followers are disciples. We are all disciples of someone or something. Jesus wants us to do three things. Consider "Do I want to be a disciple." Consider what it means to be a disciple. Consider again "Do I want to be a disciple." What does being a disciple mean? It means having a radical set of priorities. It means setting aside less than honorable desires (sin). It means embracing the cost of discipleship. It means surrendering to the King. There is a beauty in discipleship. It is sad that humankind is marked by sin. It is sad that people refuse Jesus' invitation. But there is a beauty in seeing the Spirit work in lives, turning our hearts to Christ and finding salvation.
Maybe we would care more if we knew what it cost.
Brody Holloway | WinterSWOFollowing Jesus demands wholehearted devotion, shaping every aspect of our lives to reflect his Gospel. This commitment comes at a cost, requiring sacrifice and unwavering faith. Yet, through Christ's providence, power, promises, and perseverance, we find true purpose and worth in him. Though challenges such as opposition and personal loss may arise, the eternal significance of discipleship far outweighs the risks. This session examines the cost of following Christ and the strength he provides to persevere.https://swoutfitters.com/winter-youth-retreats/Please leave a review on Apple or Spotify to help others grow in their faith. Ever consider the cost of leadership? In this episode, we unpack how leaders should consider the cost before saying "yes" to leading.
We know everything costs money...but consider what ELSE our desires, goals, impulses, and decisions may also be costing us.
Discipleship is essential for us to grow spiritually mature in a healthy way. It is commanded by Jesus in the Great Commission [Matthew 28:16-20], and it provides a foundation for our biblical community. We all need to be discipled and once we are spiritually mature and biblically literate, we need to disciple others. We look at [Luke 14:25-30] ("Discipleship Tested") and deep dive into what it means to "hate". Easily one of the shortest episodes I'll ever record on this podcast - a quick reminder to consider before you commit. Great creation takes great commitment. If there is something you'd like to do, it's going to take time. Losing clarity or commitment for that thing will delay you, so be aware of these things before you decide to build.Yes, I was planning on getting my second book out today. I think I may have bit off a bit more than I could chew though. In addition to that, I didn't fully commit to getting it done by the 15th. I got lukewarm in my commitment which eventually prevented me from reaching my target date for it. It's humbling stuff, but I hope this helps someone.Support the show

During the American Revolution—as in any war—the British quite rightly targeted the estates and the landholdings of the leadership on the American side. Because to them, these men weren't founders—they were instigators. At one point in the war, George Washington's estate was threatened by advancing troops. Thinking he might be able to save his boss's property, one of Washington's overseers rushed out to try to convince the enemy to spare them. When Washington heard about this, he was not pleased. In fact, he wrote immediately to his staff: I'd rather my home be demolished than receive special treatment.---And in today's excerpt from The Daily Stoic, Ryan explains why the competition found in sports is such a great space for planting and sowing the seeds of resilience, determination, and courage that directly transfer into a life well lived.✉️ Sign up for the Daily Stoic email: https://dailystoic.com/dailyemail
This week Phill Pearson preaches from Luke 14.25-35, and unpacks Jesus' teaching about what it means to follow him. He helps us see that everything in life requires something of us - everything has a cost to it - and Jesus wants us to make sure we know up front.
Episode 6-400 Consider the Cost It seems intuitive that we should consider the cost before taking on a project. But do we consider the cost when managing our relationships with others? When we take time get clarity on a matter we can better understand what is needed as an investment on our part to move forward. We can understand what cooperation and support we need from others, we can be intentional about ensuring clarity in our communications. Commit to making the necessary investments to support forward momentum, and take consistent action. www.petrinagooch.com 2023 Book Publications: Leading Self, Leading Others – 20 Inspiring Topics for Personal and Team Leadership and Professional Growth – available on Amazon and Kindle LiftOff to Landing – Revealing Stories of Strangers in Flight – Flight 2023 – available on Amazon, Kindle and Audible https://www.audible.com/pd/B0BZWZQQNH/?source_code=AUDFPWS0223189MWT-BK-ACX0-346228&ref=acx_bty_BK_ACX0_346228_rh_us #DoYouHaveACoupleOfMinutes #Inspire #Think #Learn #Grow #Fulfilled #LiveFulfilled #Liberate #Illuminte #Amplify #PositiveChange #Leadership #Mentor #Coach #Develop #Lead #Listen #Encourage #Feelings #Intent #Expectations #PetrinaGooch #Petrina #TakeTheGoodTakeTheBad #Perfection #Imperfections #ShowingUp #ShowUpOpen #Self #SelfImprovement #SelfCare #Change #Listen #Understand #Communication #Awareness #enlightenment #problemsolving #decisionmaking #relevance
In the Book of Ephesians, Apostle Paul urges the church to not only learn the word but to live the word. In this letter, he identifies four areas where all believers must walk out their faith: unity, love, light, and wisdom. Over the next four weeks, we are going to discover and discuss what it means to really walk like Jesus. And each day we will decide and pray to become more like Him. If you desire to make your faith real, I invite you to join us every weekday over the next four weeks as we strive to put feet to our faith and walk it out.

The Lord showed me that we have to “Consider the Cost” of the foundation that we are building every day with every word that comes from our mouths. We are in a war Saints, whether we choose to believe it or not will not change the fact that we are. And, it's a Spiritual Battle. The only weapon that can be used to “Fight this War" is the Word of God...not armor tanks, not bombs, not guns, but the word of God only.

Consider the cost... In today's episode we're in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 14, verses 25 through 33, to talk about the cost of discipleship. Freedom in Christ, like all other freedoms, comes at a price that not all are willing to pay. I want to know what's on your heart and mind, so leave me a comment or send me a message (crystal@crystalfreie.com) and let me know. In need of prayer?
