Toni Laites made history last year as the first American to win Love Island, but her journey to the villa was anything but ordinary. Discovered in Las Vegas working as a cabana girl by the show's creative director, Toni was persuaded to fly 6,000 miles to Mallorca. The rest, as they say, is history. But you don't need to be a Love Island superfan to love this episode. Toni is funny, emotionally intelligent and disarmingly honest. She opens up about living with the chronic illness Ulcerative Colitis, her pattern of choosing the wrong men in the past, working through anxious attachment and the hard-won strength it takes to forgive yourself. This is a conversation about resilience, self-awareness and what it really means to back yourself - even when the odds (and the public vote) are against you. ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 03:18 Vegas Sales to Villa Casting 05:36 Saying Yes to Love Island 07:21 Life Inside the Villa 08:33 Votes, Outcasts and Forgiveness 10:57 The Big Three Friendship 14:18 Health Scare and Ulcerative Colitis 28:10 Tourist In London 28:43 Toxic Dating Patterns 32:22 Pressure On Her Relationship 34:57 Fame And Social Media 37:34 Family And Attachment 44:28 Self Criticism And Hate 49:44 Plan For The Future

Many business owners feel an internal pressure to respond quickly and agree readily. This often comes from a desire to be seen as reliable, a fear of missing out on opportunities, or concern that saying no could slow growth. While these instincts are understandable, they can lead to decisions made from urgency instead of clarity.Hosted by Kelly Zugay of With Grace and Gold® — The Brand It, Build It Podcast, a chart-topping small business marketing podcast, equips you to build and grow your creative small business with purpose and strategy.Podcast Show Notes: https://withgraceandgold.com/category/podcast/With Grace and Gold on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/withgraceandgoldFree Resources from With Grace and Gold: https://www.withgraceandgold.com/freeHonored as Showit Designer of the Year, With Grace and Gold® has proudly served thousands of small businesses and creative founders worldwide through award-winning, elevated, purpose-driven brand and Showit web design since 2014. Trigger Warning: This message briefly mentions depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. Please take care of yourself while listening. What happens when your mind says “no”… but God says “yes”?In this deeply personal and powerful testimony, Bryce shares what it looked like to make 2025 a Year of Yes — a year of choosing obedience over fear, faith over insecurity, and truth over the lies that once felt louder than anything else. After years marked by depression, anxiety, CPTSD, chronic illness, suicidal thoughts, and feeling completely lost, Bryce found themself at a crossroads: stay hidden and small, or trust God enough to say “Your will, not mine.” From stepping into the worship team, holding the banner at Pride, facilitating connect groups, and helping plan conference — every “YES” felt terrifying at first. But each act of obedience rewrote old narratives of: “I'm too much.” “I'm not enough.” “I don't belong.” “I'm not qualified.”Anchored in scriptures like Psalm 139 and Ephesians 2:10, this sermon explores:• Rewriting the lies we believe about ourselves• Aligning identity with God's Word• Trusting God when capacity feels low• Saying YES even when you feel unqualified• Finding healing through obedience If you've ever wrestled with negative thoughts, fear, comparison, chronic illness, identity, or feeling unseen — this message is for you. Saying YES doesn't mean it isn't scary. It means trusting that God equips who He calls. To support the ministry of Melbourne Inclusive Church go to: www.michurch.org.au/giveMelbourne Inclusive Church boldly and proudly proclaims Christ's equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.Melbourne Inclusive Church is part of the EMI Global family of churches.

You know your calendar is full. You know you don't actually have the capacity. And somehow you still hear yourself say, “Sure.”Then comes the frustration. The self-judgment. The quiet resentment. And the promise that next time you'll handle it differently. But next time looks exactly the same. This isn't about better boundaries. It's not about finding the perfect script. It's about the belief underneath the yes. The one that says saying no makes you selfish. Or a bad boss. Or a bad mom. The one that quietly ties your worth to being needed. In this final part of the Beyond Awareness series, we're looking at the real reason you keep overcommitting, even when you know better. Why awareness alone hasn't changed the pattern. Because the shift isn't becoming more disciplined. It's building self-trust.This is the layer beneath the mental load and beneath delegation. If you've ever felt like your business slowly turned into something you never meant to build... this episode is for you. What starts as being helpful, flexible, and “open to anything” can quietly turn into burnout, resentment, and a business that no longer fits your life. And often, it's not because you're doing something wrong, it's because you haven't given yourself permission to niche down.In this conversation, Francis Ledgewood shares what it really cost her to say yes to everything, and how learning to set boundaries changed not only her business, but her peace of mind. We talk about niching down without burning bridges, why saying no feels so personal (especially in creative work), and how building a focused business can actually attract better clients—not fewer. We also talk about hospitality in modern business: how to build something that feels elevated without becoming cold or untouchable, and why analog experiences (like handwritten notes) still matter in a digital-first world. Francis offers an honest look at comparison, confidence, and what it takes to stay in your own lane when social media makes that harder than ever.

I've been noticing something about you. And me. We're saying yes too much. Saturday afternoon hits. You're deep into Netflix or binging Guy Fieri. Then you remember you committed to dinner that night. Good friends. You really want to go. But in that moment, you're thinking, why did I say yes? Been there. Done that. Last two weeks straight. All self-inflicted. The small yeses become big ones. The automatic yeses stack up. And suddenly you're exhausted from conversations you never agreed to have. Today we're fixing that by learning how to say yes to yourself more. Featured Story I'm standing in my kitchen, coffee in hand, phone out, scrolling through messages. They all seem so urgent. So important. Somebody writes something really nice. I can tell they ran it through ChatGPT to make it sound good. Too slick. You're not that nice. But I'm compelled to say yes to all of it. Nothing dramatic is happening. Just normal deadlines. Normal requests. Expectations that weren't even announced but somehow just showed up. And I realize something quiet but powerful. It wasn't the work making my life complicated. It was all the yeses. Small ones. Automatic ones. Yeses I never consciously chose. All self-inflicted because I allowed them into my life. Important Points The stress you feel isn't from big decisions but from the constant volume of little yeses piling up every day. When someone gives you something first, the law of reciprocity kicks in and you've just stacked up obligations. Most of us are exhausted from conversations we never agreed to have and urgency that was never actually even ours. Memorable Quotes "If you're constantly saying yes to others first, you're automatically saying no to yourself and your dreams." "When generosity shows up before they ask, it builds trust and connection, but make no mistake, you just said yes." "Simplicity isn't doing less for the sake of it, but consciously choosing what actually deserves your precious yes." Scott's Three-Step Approach Pause before agreeing to anything and create a clear pre-planned response for when people ask you for things today. Either decline the gift upfront or accept it while clearly stating you don't accept the obligation that comes with it. Practice going dark on requests that don't deserve your energy because not everything actually needs an answer. Chapters 0:02 - You've been saying yes way too much lately 2:07 - The kitchen moment when everything felt urgent 5:18 - Decision fatigue is killing your energy slowly 7:13 - The law of reciprocity is trapping you daily 11:09 - Two simple ways to escape the obligation cycle 13:04 - Pre-planned responses will save your sanity Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify Email: support@motivationtomove.com Main Website: https://motivationtomove.com YouTube: https://youtube.com/dailyboostpodcast Instagram: https://instagram.com/heyscottsmith Facebook Page: https://facebook.com/motivationtomove Facebook Group: https://dailyboostpodcast.com/facebook Learn more about your ad choices. Our guest, Missy Bell, is the Director of San Diego for Olive Crest, an organization dedicated to preventing child abuse by strengthening, equipping, and restoring children and families in crisis one life at a time. In this conversation with Jami, she brings wisdom and insight into common fears parents have when deciding to adopt a teen and how to overcome them.
Since before the world was created, God has had a master plan to deliver people from evil. He cared for us so much that He was willing to endure pain to redeem us. In Acts 14:20, we read about Jesus and the disciples preaching in a city called Derbe. It says that, “Jesus then was busy strengthening the souls of his disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations, we must enter the kingdom of God.” God wants us to know that the journey we are on ends with a destination, and along the journey, we must be prepared to endure hardship for his sake. His compassion for the whole world is summed in maybe the most famous verse in all Scripture, John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” And that's it. That's the whole point of living this Christian life. It isn't complicated in terms of understanding, but it can be hard to live out. There are currently 7.4 billion people on the planet, and most have not received Christ. Many have not even heard Him yet, hard as that is to believe. There's still a lot of work to be done. 700 years before Jesus, the prophet Isaiah saw God's throne in a vision. And the Lord said there, “Who can we send? Who will go for us?” Isaiah eagerly said, “Here I am. Send me.” This is the willing heart God is looking for. We live in this world with all its misery and beauty, chaos and harmony. We are to share the Good News of Jesus. And if we do that from a willing heart, God is faithful to use our efforts to advance His kingdom. And that is our purpose. Would you pray with me?Father God, your great plan from the beginning is right on schedule. It's always on schedule. We love you. Nothing, and no one, stops you from accomplishing your will. See us through to the end, Lord, that we can accomplish your will for our lives. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Project managers are constantly told they need to "learn how to say no." But in the real world—especially when the ask comes from a sponsor, executive, or important customer—just saying no often isn't productive, strategic, or even possible. In this Top Shelf Replay episode of Project Management Happy Hour, Kim Essendrup and Kate Anderson revisit one of the show's earliest "Appetizer" episodes: Say No by Saying Yes, originally aired in 2017. Short, deceptively simple, and still painfully relevant, this episode breaks down a technique that helps project managers protect scope, schedule, cost, and sanity—without sounding combative or inflexible The core idea is straightforward: Instead of responding to tough requests with a flat "no," you respond with "yes—but" or "yes—and here's what that would require." "Yes, we can do it faster—but it will require triple the resources." "Yes, we can release both languages at once—but we'll need more budget or a delayed launch." "Yes, we can remove that resource—but you'll need to help me explain the downstream impact to the sponsor." This approach reframes the conversation away from emotion and into trade-offs, which is where real project leadership lives. As the conversation unfolds, Kim and Kate explore why this technique works so well psychologically. Leaders—especially busy executives—often don't have full context. Their "ridiculous asks" aren't always malicious; they're frequently driven by incomplete information, pressure from above, or a misunderstood business constraint. Saying "yes" first acknowledges their goal, signals partnership, and keeps them engaged long enough to hear reality The episode also connects this technique to a broader leadership pattern the hosts have refined over the years: what they now describe as "affirm, caution, query." You affirm the request. You surface the risk or constraint. You return the decision to the person who actually owns it. In other words, you stop absorbing problems that don't belong to you—and you stop shielding leaders from the consequences of their own decisions. The replay discussion expands the idea further, touching on burnout, executive presence, and why many project managers get stuck in a defensive "control mindset" around the triple constraint. Kim and Kate argue that stepping back—mentally taking off the project manager hat and putting on the sponsor's hat—makes these conversations easier, calmer, and more strategic. When you focus on outcomes instead of guarding boundaries, you stop reacting and start partnering. There's also an unexpected but memorable parallel: gentle parenting. The same structure used to redirect an emotional five-year-old ("I see what you want—but here are your options") turns out to work remarkably well with stressed executives, difficult customers, and unrealistic stakeholders. You don't remove agency; you structure it. Ultimately, this episode is about more than saying no politely. It's about changing the power dynamic—from executor to partner. From order-taker to decision facilitator. From "blocking progress" to helping leaders make informed choices. If you've ever been handed an impossible deadline, an under-funded scope change, or a request that made your stomach drop, this episode gives you language, structure, and confidence to respond without burning trust—or yourself.

A former Apple evangelist and venture capitalist, Kawasaki has authored 18 books and served in leadership roles at iconic companies including Google, Wikipedia, and Mercedes-Benz, making him uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between technology innovation and human-centered business strategy. His expertise spans brand evangelism, product design, and organizational culture, areas directly relevant to ambitious professionals seeking to build loyal audiences and create meaningful impact. Quotes: "The overarching lesson that I learned from Apple is that design truly matters. Apple is Apple because of its design. I would make the case that Apple has proven that enough people care about design so that you can be a successful company." "The lesson is that it is not how you get your job. It's what you do once you get the job. Once you get into the company, nobody gives a shit about your degree, about who you know. You either are delivering or you're not." "One of my philosophies is you should always say yes. If you say no, you stop right there. But if you say yes, at least you gain the optionality to see more and more." "I believe that a book is a work of art, and it is an end in itself. You don't write a book to get to another point. You should write a book only when you have something to say." Sleepy, tonight I wander without a map.I talk about speaking broken English into a microphone and not fixing it. About shame, karaoke bars, Stockholm nights, and the strange courage it takes to stay. I circle illness, family, altruism, and the calm that sometimes arrives when drama stops being useful. This is a quiet hour of drifting thoughts, pauses, and company. You don't have to listen closely. You can drift off, come back, drift again. I'll be here either way, sitting with you while sleep happens or doesn't happen. It is what it is. What happens, happens. And right now, there's nothing we need to do.Sleep Tight!More about Henrik, click here: https://linktr.ee/Henrikstahl Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In today's episode, I get to the heart of a question that has the power to change your entire year:“ What do I need to give myself permission to say yes to?” Most faith driven leaders already sense what God is whispering. They feel the nudge, the hunger, the pull. But they haven't given themselves permission to say yes to what Heaven already affirmed.Inside this conversation, I share:• Why clarity is rarely the real barrier• The story Les Brown told that will make you rethink what “readiness” actually means• How internal resistance delays destiny far more than external opposition• Why God's whisper often feels subtle but won't leave you alone• How one courageous yes can recalibrate your entire life• What to do when fear, logic, or old stories start talking you out of your callingThis episode is for the leader who's been sensing more. For the one who's been quietly negotiating with God.For the one who knows the next step isn't about information, it's about permission. If you've been holding back, delaying, waiting for a perfect moment, or hoping someone else will confirm what God already told you… This message will speak to your spirit deeply. A delayed yes doesn't cancel your destiny, but it absolutely postpones your peace. And you were created to live in peace, clarity, and alignment. If this episode stirred something in you and you're ready to stop negotiating with God's whisper,Your next step is simple:
In this episode, I am joined by corporate learning facilitator and speaker Diana Charbonneau to explore how a life of service, mentorship, and saying “yes” to opportunities can reveal a deeper sense of purpose. Diana shares her journey from uncertainty and imposter syndrome to becoming a sought-after facilitator, nonprofit leader, and inspirational voice in her community. We dive into the power of mentors who see your gifts before you do, the importance of getting in the room, and the courage it takes to honor your talents even when the path feels unclear. This conversation is a reminder that you are worthy of every room you enter and that one aligned “yes” can open doors you never imagined.Support the show
In this episode, we get real about the chaos of life and how we're learning to slow it all down. From overpacked schedules and toddler chaos to marriage dynamics and that ever-distracting phone, we talk about what's been stressing us out—and how we're actually doing something about it. We share the rhythms, mindset shifts, and spiritual habits that are helping us create more peace, presence, and purpose in our days. Plus, we get honest about what our husbands claim they're “good at” and why ping-pong might be their peak. If your life's felt a little too frantic lately, this is your gentle reminder that it doesn't have to be that way. Let's destress our lives together—starting now. In this episode, host Travis Chappell and producer Eric use a ridiculous on‑air nicotine experiment and some Kroger pickle‑jar banter to launch into a serious conversation about the power of saying no with your money. From friends asking to “spot me, bro” to sketchy investments, unpaid collabs, lifestyle upgrades, and sponsors that don't feel right, they walk through real scenarios where saying yes can quietly wreck your finances—or your brand—if you're not intentional. On this episode we talk about: Eric nearly puking on mic after trying a 6mg mojito ZYN, why “no” would have been the better choice, and how that sets up the theme of the episode. How Travis handles friends and family asking for money—why he almost always says no to “investment” pitches now, and how he decides when helping actually becomes enabling. When to say yes (and when to stop) with unpaid collaborations, speaking gigs, and local partnerships—plus the story of how saying yes to a low‑ROI volleyball promo still led to a profitable tournament relationship for AuraVela. Lifestyle spending boundaries: cars, first‑class flights, subscriptions, Klarna‑financed Chipotle, and how Travis finally justified buying a genuinely nice car after years of driving beaters. The importance of asking “Does this matter to me—or just to other people?” before dropping money on status symbols, upgrades, or brand‑driven purchases. Eric's recent decision to drop a meaningful podcast sponsor after loyal, long‑time listeners said it felt off, and why he chose long‑term trust over short‑term cash. The hidden risks of programmatic ads (like political spots or government agencies slipping in) and how both hosts have had to tighten ad category filters to protect their brands. Saying no to shady money: Travis turning down a $3,000 crypto‑related interview offer that required an NDA and looked like reputation rehab for a founder with bad press. Top 3 Takeaways Not every “opportunity” is for you. Saying no to friends' investments, high‑risk plays, or repeated bailouts protects your own financial runway and keeps you from funding other people's bad patterns. Your brand is worth more than a short‑term check. Dropping a sponsor or declining a stage when it feels misaligned can cost money now but preserves audience trust that's worth far more over a decade. Buy for your life, not their approval. Big purchases and lifestyle upgrades should be driven by your values, convenience, and experiences—not by keeping up with people you don't even like. Notable Quotes “For investments right now it's basically a no—if I don't have true ‘play money,' I'd rather put it in something more certain than somebody else's ‘sure thing.'” “If you're asking me for help the fifth time, at some point I'm not helping—you're just making bad decisions and I'm funding them.” “You can have the life you want now and later, but only if you stop buying stuff just to impress people and start asking if it actually matters to you.” ✖️✖️✖️✖️

In This Episode: Recognizing God's voice through unexpected thoughts, dreams, and open doors, even when the timing feels crazy Why walking by faith means taking the next step before you can see steps two, three, and four The three questions that keep us from following God's leading: Does this feel crazy? In this episode, Travis and his producer tackle the classic “jack of all trades vs. master of one” question for modern creators and entrepreneurs juggling multiple side hustles. Using examples ranging from happiness research to garage-cleanout side hustles, they break down how to explore widely at first, then strategically double down on the thing with the most upside and meaning for your life. On this episode we talk about: Why saying “yes” to almost everything early on can be smart when you're broke, in debt, and still figuring out what you actually like How ideas from Arthur Brooks and Simon Sinek around happiness, purpose, and “knowing your why” tie directly into choosing which skill or business to go all in on Ben Shapiro's early career grind—working multiple jobs, including law and writing—to stack cash and eventually build what became The Daily Wire The real difference between being “busy with six things” forever versus setting a time limit, testing, then committing to the path with the clearest upside The Gary Vee-style question of when to quit your job for your side hustle, illustrated by the $699‑per‑garage cleanout business that clearly deserves a full‑time leap Top 3 Takeaways Early on, it is completely fine to be a jack of all trades—as long as you are doing it intentionally to pay down debt, stack cash, and discover what you actually enjoy and are good at. At some point you must pick a lane: set a time horizon, evaluate which opportunity has the best mix of income potential and personal meaning, and then pour your time, learning, and energy into that one vehicle. Fear will always be there, so reframe it: instead of fearing failure or embarrassment, fear future regret—if you would regret not taking the shot, that is a strong signal you should take the leap. Notable Quotes “The result is going to come from mastery of one thing, but the inevitability of the struggle of mastery means you better pick something you actually care about.” “Don't confuse having six different things going on with actually making progress—busy does not mean productive.” “If you think you might regret not doing the thing, then do the thing." ✖️✖️✖️✖️
Chilling Tales for Dark Nights: A Horror Anthology and Scary Stories Series Podcast
In this unsettling episode of Chilling Tales for Dark Nights, a single question hangs in the air long after the lights go out: What happens after you agree? What begins as curiosity—harmless, tempting, even rewarding—slowly reveals itself as something far more dangerous. Each choice feels voluntary. Each step feels justified. And yet, with every small “yes,” the exit grows harder to see. Guided by host Steve Taylor, this episode explores the terrifying psychology of escalation, manipulation, and unseen systems that thrive on cooperation rather than force. It's a descent into modern horror where technology, temptation, and human vulnerability intersect—and where the most frightening realization comes too late to undo. Because sometimes, the real nightmare isn't what you're made to do. It's what you're willing to do. In this episode, we journey to the house of Loreto, a simple home where the Annunciation took place. We reflect on how God meets us in the quiet, ordinary places of our own lives and how He meets us where we are, no matter how isolated we may feel. We also explore Mary's free and wholehearted yes, given without a request for details, and consider where the Holy Spirit may be inviting us to trust and surrender in our own hidden spaces. As Advent is a time to rest in stillness, we talk about making room for God in our schedules, noticing His gentle invitations in the everyday, and allowing His Word to take root in us even when the fruits of our yes are not yet visible. Heather's One Thing - Registration for Glory: Women's Gathering is open! Michelle and I would love to see you there! Sister Miriam's One Thing - Live Dialogue with Pope Leo XIV and Teens at NCYC Michelle's One Thing - Trader Joe's winter peonies Next, we come to the House of Loreto, a humble home, walls worn by daily life, where the eternal interrupted the ordinary. Here, a young woman listens and her "yes" ripples through all of time. This is the place of surrender, of saying yes to what we cannot yet understand. The Word takes root in the quiet soil of her trust. Other Resources Mentioned: Litany of Loreto "The Annunciation" painting by Henry Tanner Journal Questions: Where am I missing God's presence in the ordinary moments?
