Myron Rumsey and Phil Bova review two classic graphic novels from Green Lantern history in episode 136 of The Podcast of Oa.  Phil leads a discussion on the three issue Elseworlds Green Lantern: Evil's Might series about a Green Lantern set in 19th century New York City where Kyle Rayner tries to come to terms with the social injustice and government corruption of the era while trying to get away from a life as a part of the street gangs preying on the innocent.  Myron follows up with a conversation about the 2002 graphic novel Green Lantern Legacy: The Last Will and Testament of Hal Jordan, a book where Hal Jordan's closest friend, Tom Kalmaku, tries to come to terms with Hal's legacy and death while dealing with an unusual inheritance that draws the attention of everyone from the Justice League to Parallax to a Dark Lantern bent on destruction.  Phil and Myron also have a number of listener emails that they respond to, giving some recommendations on other podcast and then trying to talk about the politicization of modern comics fandom without ticking anyone off. Especially when one of the books that you have to cover (because it ties in with later books) is Green Lantern:The Last Will and Testament of Hal Jordan. Mostly because this book is all about the adventures of a drunken, down on his luck Tom... "Pieface"...Kalmaku having to take care of Hal's never before seen illegitimate son Martin while he is on the run from a murderous, scythe wielding, rune covered ebon entity known as...THE DARK LANTERN!!! And when you find out the surprise ending, your "WTF Meter" should be off the charts. Luckily we make up for all of the not so good with a great issue of Green Lantern. In issue 148, we get to see Jenny get her groove back as she beats up on nineties grunge reject Sonar, dances the night away with Kyle, John and Merayn, and receives her Starheart energy powers courtesy of Kyle being a near god-like entity, Ion. Plus there's some nice art from fill in artist, Brandon Badeux, which helps as well.
