Ringing in the New Year, American came, saw, and arrested Maduro. The left who protested no kings are not crying free the dictator. Speaking of hypocrisy, the liberal media zeros in on the You Tuber Nick Shirley for causing fear and hate in the midst of the Somali daycare fraud scandal. So don't focus on the money stolen, focus on this kid, says the media. Plus, NYC has a new mayor and call to prayer, breaking news as Walz announces he's no longer running for re-election, Senator Kelly in hot water, and more. Hey, it's just the beginning of 2026!
Send us a textThe holidays are over, the house is quiet, and the batteries—literal and social—need a recharge. We open the door on that in-between mood: the relief of wrapping paper cleared, the small panic when a favorite tool (hi, Dyson) dies, and the surprising joy of a new coat, fresh socks, or a perfect iced tea cup that makes winter feel a notch warmer. From there, we zoom out. We compare reading goals to the comfort of nightly word games and design a plan that doesn't pit pleasure against growth. We talk boundaries through the lens of “social battery” science, spotting early signs of burnout and choosing better exit ramps before you're tapped out. Our take on stress flips the script, favoring meaningful action—movement, helpfulness, tidy wins—over retreat-only self-care. You'll leave with practical, low-friction ways to feel better without waiting for motivation to strike. We also have fun with New Year rituals around the world and the ones we can craft at home: color-coded intentions, wish confetti, plates in Denmark, waves in Brazil. And yes, we detour into iguanas “freezing” in Florida and the chaotic charm of local countdown TV before landing on what really makes a reset stick—consistency with heart, goals that fit your real life, and rituals that make ordinary days feel new.If this conversation made you smile or gave you one idea to try tonight, tap follow, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review. It's not uncommon to hear ringing, buzzing, humming or hissing sounds that can't be heard by anyone else. The medical term for these symptoms is tinnitus. The sounds may affect both ears, or just one. If you're lucky, they're a temporary or intermittent problem, but for some people they can be more severe, affecting their daily lives. 2019 figures from the British Tinnitus Association suggested that persistent tinnitus affects 1 in 8 people. Occasional ringing in the ears is nothing to worry about. It's when it lasts for longer than a few minutes that you may wish to consult a GP. Bear in mind that tinnitus itself isn't actually a disease. The sounds are symptoms of other disorders and health conditions. Where does it come from? Does it get worse with age? Are there any treatments for permanent tinnitus? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! To listen to the latest episodes, click here: How can I beat a hangover? Brim and Mr. Greer are back at it again. Apart from all the usual shenanigans, the gang chats about everything in pop culture with all the trimmings and is joined by guest host, Dayna Pereira (The Dirty Little Secrets Club | Loreplay). They discuss the former exotic dancer turned attorney (good to see some actually did pay their way through college), Keanu Reeves' $100 million legacy, and how Netflix will no longer be allowing streaming from phones to tv anymore. The crew also chats about the continuing story of Tyler Chase of Ned's Declassified including how a co-star tried helping him get clean, the Great Payless Sacm, and the fake news story that got us thinking. The cast talks about the fake restaurant who scammed influencers, went viral on TripAdvisor, and became the number one restaurant in London. They talk about Marvel coming in a big way to 2026 including comic accurate costumes for major characters, how the NY Jets did a very bad thing, and the cast laughs at the new iPhone sock. The crew also discusses shooting your shot for $1k, Phil Rivers returning to the Colts and how Kings and Queens of the past had tushie wipers. The crew chats about entertainment news, opinions and other cool stuff and things. Enjoy.Wherever you listen to podcasts & www.thegrindhouseradio.comhttps://linktr.ee/thegrindhouseradio

What may seem to be a slightly twee title contains a very sweet truth: “My God will hear me.” With such a brief phrase, Spurgeon simply unpacks it, weaving together doctrine, experience, and practice. Here is a title to relish, “my God,” with all it means. Then there is an argument to grasp, that because he is God and my God, he will hear me. Then there is the favour involved, that all-hearing, sympathetic, wise, and righteous ear which is open to our cry, to enter into our experience. And do not forget, says Spurgeon, the person who is heard. Here he pleads not only with the believer who already enjoys this sweet silver bell ringing in his heart, but also the troubled and distressed soul, sin-sick and sorrowing, who has come to desire God as Saviour. The God of heaven, kind and gracious, will most assuredly hear the one who cries out of the depths. What a joyful thought to take away, and what a great expectation to possess: “My God will hear me!” Read the sermon here: https://www.mediagratiae.org/resources/a-sweet-silver-bell-ringing-in-each-believers-heart Check out the new From the Heart of Spurgeon Book! Multi-platinum recording artist Clay Aiken is back with a stunning new version of the Bing Crosby classic "Do You Hear What I Hear?," the first single from his highly anticipated Christmas album Christmas Bells are Ringing, set to be released on November 22nd. Aiken's unique interpretation infuses the classic carol with his signature vocal warmth and emotional depth making it a song for our times. Written in 1962 by Noël Regney and Gloria Shayne as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is timeless in its message, yet even more resonant today. Aiken reflects, "The whole American political climate over the past few years hasn't really given us much in the way of hope or optimism. As much as I wanted to believe I might be able to make some positive change in that world, I've realized that music often does a better job of that." Produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Ron Fair, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is the first release from Aiken's first studio album in over a decade, following a hiatus from music which found Aiken running for Congressional office in North Carolina, and raising his now teenage son. The album, Christmas Bells are Ringing, marks a return to the holiday music that solidified Aiken's place as a household name in 2004, when his debut holiday album Merry Christmas With Love broke records, selling nearly 300,000 copies in its first week. That album went platinum, becoming the best-selling holiday album of 2004 and earning Aiken three Billboard Music Awards. The new record boasts fresh takes on holiday staples like Nat King Cole's "Caroling, Caroling" and Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime", as well as a lush reinvention of "Merry Christmas, Darling" by the Carpenters (one of Clay's musical inspirations) and a show-stopping rendition of "Pure Imagination" which reimagines the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory classic as a fitting soundtrack for the holiday season. Clay Aiken's rise to stardom began in 2003 as the runner-up on season two of American Idol. His debut single, "This Is the Night" debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, while his debut album Measure of a Man was certified triple platinum. Aiken has since sold millions of albums, launched national tours, starred on Broadway, and made his mark as a philanthropist and politician.Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Merry Christmas With Love, Clay Aiken's new album, Christmas Bells are Ringing' promises to bring the same joy and spirit to listeners, making it the perfect soundtrack for the 2024 holiday season.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

The Santa Barbara Symphony is once again ringing in the new year with a high-energy celebration at The Granada Theatre, where guests will be able to delight in champagne as they are dazzled by music. Guest conductor, Stuart Malina, and Symphony President, Kathryn R. Martin, say this year's event promises not just beautiful music, but real joy and a shared sense of deep connection. KCSB's Juliana Chandler sat down with them to find out what makes this night so special and why it's quickly becoming one of the city's most beloved year-end traditions.
And finally, we look to the day after. The bells have stopped ringing, the guests have gone, and the wax has hardened on the table. We often treat the holiday spirit like a decoration—something to be packed away in a box until next year. But what if the kindness, the open doors, and the shared bread were not a seasonal performance, but a blueprint for how to live? In this final reflection, we ask what it means to carry the light of the feast into the famine of the ordinary days ahead. If these moments of quiet connection and hope resonated with you, we're thrilled to tell you that the full collection, When the Bells Don't Ring by Danny Ballan, is now available on Amazon and everywhere books are sold. In the drought-stricken lands of Turkana County, the sun is a hammer and water is more precious than gold. The Amazon River at night is a cacophony of jungle sounds and pitch-black water. Thiago, a boat pilot, knows the dangers of the current, but when his engine dies on Christmas Eve, he finds himself drifting helplessly in the dark. Alone, with the rain pouring down and the river spinning him toward the unknown, he spots a faint spark in the distance. It isn't a city or a harbor, but a flickering light on a rotting dock. This is a story about the terror of being adrift, and the humble lights that guide us home. The heat in Buenos Aires presses against the windows of the nursing home, where Valeria sits in her wheelchair, her dancing days long behind her. To the staff, she is just a number on a chart; to herself, she is a history book gathering dust. But Lucas, a young orderly with untucked clothes and a mop in his hand, knows a secret. He knows the music of the bandoneón. When he plays an old tango on his phone, the sterile room transforms, and Valeria is reminded that the dance doesn't end just because the legs have stopped moving. Frankfurt Airport is a cathedral of efficiency, designed to move millions without a hitch. But on Christmas Eve, a massive snowstorm has stopped the clock. At Gate Z-15, the mood is toxic: business travelers are shouting, tourists are hoarding power outlets, and the departure board is a sea of red 'CANCELED' signs. Then, the lights go out. In the sudden darkness, a low hum begins in the corner—a melody that transcends language. Join us for a story about what happens when our plans are ruined, and we are forced to find harmony in the delay. Manila is usually a symphony of noise—firecrackers, karaoke, and celebration. But inside the Public General Hospital, the air is sterile and silent. Reya, a nurse on the night shift, watches over 'Lolo Ben,' a coma patient with no family to claim him. It is Noche Buena, the midnight feast, and Reya refuses to let him spend it in the dark. She hangs a small paper lantern on his IV pole and begins to read. But the hospital doors are about to open, bringing a reminder that even in the quietest rooms, we are never truly alone. The cold in Moscow is a living entity, prowling the streets for any weakness. Ivan, a homeless veteran, sits on a steam grate behind a metro station, his only warmth coming from the mongrel dog, Laika, tucked inside his coat. When the Social Patrol van pulls up offering a warm bed in a shelter, there is a catch: no dogs allowed. Ivan looks at the open door of the van, and then at the loyal eyes of his companion. This is a story about the family we choose, and the lines we refuse to cross, even when the temperature drops to minus thirty. In Stockholm, the winter darkness arrives just after lunch, settling over the city like a heavy blanket. Astrid sits by her window, watching a candle burn down—a silent, stubborn signal to a son she hasn't spoken to in two years. She calls it 'waiting,' but deep down, she knows it is pride. The candle is fading, and the silence of the phone is deafening. Tonight, Astrid faces the hardest journey of all: the distance between her hand and the receiver. Berlin in December is gray, damp, and smells of wet wool. For Fatima, a refugee from Aleppo, the city feels impossibly cold and distant. Desperate for a sense of home on Christmas Eve, she opens a jar of seven-spice and begins to cook Maqluba, filling her apartment building with the rich, loud scents of the Levant. But when a sharp knock comes at the door, Fatima fears the worst. On the other side stands her stern German neighbor, Frau Weber. What follows is a story about the flavors that divide us, and the unexpected tastes that bring us together. A blizzard has erased the highways of Hokkaido, trapping a diverse group of travelers in a roadside station on Christmas Eve. There is a businessman with a deadline, a crying toddler, and a truck driver named Kenji hauling a perishable cargo of sunshine—mandarin oranges. As the power flickers and the vending machines die, the tension in the room rises. With the road closed and hunger setting in, Kenji looks at his sealed cargo and faces a choice: follow the rules of the logbook, or break the seal to feed the strangers stranded with him. In Beirut, the darkness doesn't fall gently; it seizes the city. On Christmas Eve, the power grid fails, leaving twelve-year-old Nour and her neighbors in a suffocating blackout. In a building where iron doors are usually triple-locked and neighbors rarely speak, the silence is heavy. But Nour remembers her grandmother's beeswax candles and makes a choice. Instead of huddling in her own apartment, she heads for the dark stairwell. This is a tale about what happens when the lights go out, and we are forced to become the light for one another. In Dublin, the rain drifts rather than falls, turning the streetlights of Temple Bar into blurred halos. Cillian sits alone in a pub, avoiding the deafening silence of his own home—a house that has been too quiet since his wife, Siobhan, passed away. He has set a place at the table out of habit, a monument to his loss. But when a soaking wet traveler stumbles into the pub with a backpack and a ruined plan, Cillian is forced to decide whether to guard his grief or open the door. Join us for a story about the 'empty chair' and the courage it takes to fill it. "May the word of the LORD ring out from you to people everywhere, for wherever we go, we find people telling us about your faith in God. ...they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God's son from heaven - Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us..." 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10 There is no greater HOPE to be found than that of a promised King and Redeemer. Come, LORD Jesus!
Seoul is a city of neon miracles and heated benches, but for Min-ji, a seventy-year-old cardboard collector, it is a place of relentless cold. She moves through the Christmas Eve crowds like a ghost, her spine curved by the weight of her cart, invisible to the young couples passing by. When a student stops not to offer pity, but to listen, he uncovers a history buried under layers of dust—a memory of silk, indigo, and a woman who was once a queen in her own life. This is a story about the dignity we carry, even when the world refuses to see it. Welcome to a new episode of the English Plus Podcast.
