The Hit List nears completion after 5 long years of waiting on this episode of AniMaysterpiece. AMNAM presents Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004) where secrets are revealed, all during stylish heated bouts of Kung-Fu. With the bloody Bride revving up her continued hunt for revenge no one is safe. A few members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad linger full of regrets and glory long since gone. However, that doesn't mean it will be a simple drive to the finish line. We will have to avoid being buried alive, black mambas hiding in suitcases, and even a Superman origin story or two. Sorry it took this long, but if you are still sore about it just remember to rate, review, and subscribe. Our latest Animaysterpiece event begins with Katsuhiro Otomo's legendary anime film Akira. In 1988, a mysterious explosion destroyed Tokyo and ushered in World War III. The year is now 2019, and Neo-Tokyo exists in a state of fear, corruption, and division. A member of the Capsule bike gang, Tetsuo, is kidnapped by the military after colliding with a strange, psychic child. His best friend and gang leader, Kaneda, joins an underground resistant movement in hopes of rescuing him. Meanwhile, Tetsuo starts developing psychic powers of his own. Corrupted by his new abilities, Tetsuo rampages across the city in order to free and confront the fabled esper Akira. Kaneda is determined to get through to his friend, but will a (really cool) motorcycle and a laser gun be enough to stop the coming apocalypse? A finale of an age-old story on tonight's episode of Anime Was Not A Mistake. As it seems now our tale's many characters are at their breaking points. A murder of crow circle them, the play is yet unwritten, and the dance unfinished. Through this and all will the prince obtain his heart, the writer pen a satisfying conclusion, the child of crows feel love, and a duck be born again in the dance? The stage is set and the curtain rises one final time. All we can pray for is for the success of Princess Tutu. The final course is served in our Delicious in Dungeon x Toriko combo series. After leaving the Golden Country, Laios and his friends are attacked by a griffin. This perilous encounter gives us some insight into Senshi's past and motivations. The party is slowed down again when changeling mushrooms mix things up, forcing them to think quickly and adapt. As the party descends deeper, outside forces join the fray and the dungeon's ecology becomes ever-more unstable. (But don't worry, there's still time for a quick bite.) Back in Toriko, the titular Gourmet Hunter and Coco face-off against a deadly Devil Python. Both are forced to push themselves to the limit to overcome this sinister serpent and find the coveted Puffer Whale. However, as their flavorful adventure continues, an even stronger foe is skulking around in the depths. A dance of ravens and crows begins anew on this episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake as the curtains rise for a second act. We continue the performance that is Princess Tutu as all of our characters have seemingly met their storybook ends. However, all is not as it seems, in this anime. A duck longs to be a swan, a crow yearns to be a lover. A knight a storyteller and a prince to be free. As our pieces are posed to dance on pointe in the finale, what will happen? And will we have to make some shocking changes to the script. I've seen some intrigue in the courtyard and as your "best" friend I advise you have a public fight in front of the whole school! Only by challenging your fate and putting on your pointe shoes can you hope to reach this story's end! In what's already being hailed as our best episode yet (by us), we dive into another combo platter of Delicious in Dungeon and Toriko. First, Laios and his friends arrive at the dungeon's Sixth Level. After dealing with some uncanny shapeshifters, the party gains a new member in the form of the beastman ninja Izutsumi. A supernatural detour then brings the party to the legendary Golden Country, a paradise within the dungeon that remains frozen in time. There, a surprising revelation leads Laios to question his destiny. Back on the surface, Kabru discusses similarly existential matters with the Canaries, a group of elven dungeon specialists known for leaving destruction in their wake. Next, in Toriko, our heroes have to get past a troop of dangerous Troll Kongs to reach the extra-flavorful fruit they guard. Finally, Toriko and Komatsu team up with another member of the Four Heavenly Kings to find the rare Puffer Whale. Christine, Christine? Tonight, on Anime Was (Not) A Mistake presents Sinister Six's first true blue direct sequel with The Phantom of the Opera's musical continuation Love Never Dies (2011). We take a trip to Coney Island in the hopes of making 10 long years of waiting make any sort of sense in the musical theater canon. Christine Daae arrives to sing an aria or two with her fractured family, only to find out that her power as one of theater's greatest heroines has no effect in this land of sideshows and jaded chorus girls. Bathing Beauties, please tune in and offer us your commentary on this controversial cabaret. With a son that is only 10 YEARS OLD what kind of intrigue or subterfuge could take place.? We ask on this podcast, to enjoy as our "dear old friends" hoping that you will hear us sing once more. Beneath a moonless sky.... The latest installment of Sinister Six digs way too deep into the “natural horror” genre with 1976's Squirm. When a freak electrical storm strikes the town of Fly Creek, angry worms emerge from the ground and start attacking people. As the worms unleash their wrath one tree at a time, city boy Mick arrives in town to visit his long-distance girlfriend Geri. Fly Creek's very sweaty Sheriff Jim immediately suspects Mick when odd, worm-adjacent occurrences begin popping up. Mick also has to contend with Geri's mother Naomi (who's basically in a different movie) and her odd neighbor Rick. After they discover the first of the worms' many victims, Mick and Geri race to solve the mystery of whatever's nibbling away at Fly Creek. They probably only have until nightfall, when worms are at their most powerful. Probably. We're not really sure what the moral of this story is, but we promise that it involves more worms than you're expecting. Good News! In a most scandalosious turn of events, that still sticks to the vague principals of magical girls and anime, our humble little podcast is heading down the yellow brick road with Wicked: Part One (2024). Although our intrepid hosts are well versed in the magic of weebdom, we needed another more attuned to the art of showtunes able to decipher The Grimmerie. That's right fellow Ozians, Gabe Rivera is here, descending in a steampunk bubble to set the record straight. While this is happening Dan is channeling his emotions in the hopes that one day he can fly, all of course under Jonathan's totally not menacing and manipilutidiness madness... Topics discussed within are which type of Elphaba and Galinda watch of our cohosts are. A deep dive into the lore of Gregory Maguire's novels. And the introduction of the ethereal being that is Dulcibear. Something has changed within us and Anime Was (Not) A Mistake will never be the same. OOOOOOOH AH AAAAAAA AHA AAAAAAAA AHAAAAAAA! The dice have stopped rolling, but Anime Was (Not) A Mistake has more dungeons and delicacies to explore. Immediately back by popular demand, Delicious in Dungeon resumes with Laios and his friends searching for an exit. A tense meeting with the warrior Shuro forces the party to reevaluate their ultimate goal. Falin has been transformed into a terrifying monster by the Mad Mage, and Laios cannot risk the Island Lord going after her. Defeating the Mad Mage himself may be the only option that remains, but are our heroes really the best party for the job? Continuing the trend of pairing Delicious in Dungeon with a special side dish, we'll briefly step into the colorful (and flavorful) world of Toriko. While the Gourmet Hunter Toriko is beefy enough on his own…we advise leaving room for a THIRD course of shonen action. Once upon a time...there was an anime podcast (Anime Was Not A Mistake) with two cohosts. One of them. A shonen fan through and through, the other, a man of taste not afraid to embrace the beauty of all that was maho shojo. "I know!" said the man with taste. "I'll introduce my rival to the classic magical girl anime Princess Tutu. Once I do that, he's bound to see the error of his ways." In a series devoted to both ballet and fairytales we are introduced to our heroine Duck, who is literally a duck, turned girl, turned into Princess Tutu. When given the quest to restore a storybook prince's heart shards lessons on love, emotion, and the ever-changing hands of fate and destiny are presented through dance and classical music. Suddenly as the man with taste cackled gleefully over his plan the shonen fan entered. "Jonathan, what are you doing in there? Some of us have got to use the bathroom!" "Nothing! Nothing at all!" screamed the man with taste, as the toilet flushed... Spectacular! Spectacular! A Sinister Selection? It's in the vernacular! Anime Was (Not) A Mistake pulls back the red curtain and tunes the orchestra to present a 40th sinister film celebration! With plenty of returning actors and a director to this humble podcast we explore the themes of freedom, beauty, truth, and love with Baz Luhrmann's seminal Moulin Rouge! (2001). In this Parisian, jukebox musical, toy will encounter decadence, tropes, and many compilations that would make the cast of Glee blush. When the bright eyed Christian (Ewan McGregor) wanders into the bordello of sin that is the Moulin Rouge and falls in love with the star act, The Sparkling Diamond, Satine (Nicole Kidman) a passionate, maddening, romance begins. You will certainly feel as if you are on an absinthe trip...singing moon included. But in the end should someone die? Perhaps it will be one of your co-hosts? Why are we watching this? A new Sinister Selection crash-lands on the scene and vows to dispense cosmic justice…just very slowly and on a budget. In 1987's Alien Private Eye, Earth is threatened by an odd combination of narcotics and nuclear weapons. Our only hope is Lemro, a super-cool alien who lives among us as a private detective. Aided by a mysterious woman and a pair of rival space cops, Lemro searches for the two halves of a powerful alien artifact. One half is currently in the possession of the villainous Kilgore, who's using it manufacturer a potent (and very confusing) drug called “soma.” We're not sure how Lemro intends to solve this case, but it'll definitely involve dancing, fighting, and a Nintendo Power Glove. All voyages must come to an end, and tonight on Anime Was (Not) A Mistake we take the next steps into the future with the Season 1 of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Frieren, Fern, and the rest of the intrepid mages continue on their path towards first class magedom. On this casual batch of four episodes we may get a new priestly party member that's on a voyage of his own for his "Gorilla Warrior." With some liturgical magic, perhaps the party will take down a Refelga infused plant monster, participate in a ball, and help out a stubborn old woman in polishing her statues. It may seem like a subtle bunch of morals lie in store. Ten Years aren't as long as they seem. You can try to replace family. Those with an itchy butt wake up with smelly hands... this and much, much more on tonight's episode. Hope that you have packed some extra senzu beans because if our intrepid Z Heros survive we all have to go a second round with The Return of Cooler (1992). Fans of cobwebs and candelabras rejoice as our Halloween Spooktacular takes an ill-advised trip to Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak! Since the day she lost her mother as a child, Edith Cushing has been able to see and speak with ghosts. While Edith is determined to channel this gift into her writing, fate has other plans. After a brief (and tragic) courtship, Edith is whisked away by Sir Thomas Sharpe to his mansion in England. Thomas' sister Lucille Sharpe lives there as well, and she seems to deeply resent her new sister-in-law. Edith soon realizes that the three of them are not the mansion's only occupants; numerous tortured spirits appear and attempt to communicate something to her. Will Edith be able to decipher their warnings before it's too late? Please remember to drink your tea while enjoying this peak episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake! Our Halloween Spooktacular continues with 2001's Thir13en Ghosts. While still mourning the untimely death of his wife, Arthur Kriticos is informed that his estranged uncle Cyrus has passed away as well. Arthur takes his family to see the mansion that Cyrus left for them, but his late uncle's house is far from ordinary. An avid ghost hunter until his supposed death, Cyrus had turned his home into a glass labyrinth designed specifically for imprisoning spirits. With Arthur and his family trapped inside, the mansion's infernal machinery activates. 12 ghosts are set loose within the house, free to rampage until Cyrus' strange ritual is complete. The blueprints for the machine also mention a thirteenth ghost, one that can either bring the house down entirely…or give Cyrus exactly what he wants. Trent's search leads him to the town of Hobb's End, which has seemingly popped up out of nowhere to match the setting of Cane's books. Tammy and the T-Rex (1994) gives us a romance for the ages, starring Denise Richards and Paul Walker in their film debuts. With crazy bullies, a mad scientist, big jungle cats, and plenty of gore, will this one finally provide the extinction of Dan Ryan? All Jonathan can do is promise this film will be Dino-myte!!! The latest installment of Sinister Six warps down to Earth as we suffer through 1992's Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe. Jesse “The Body” Ventura plays the titular intergalactic cop, who chases the evil Secundus across the stars to New York or Canada or Minnesota. Secundus has returned to our world to find his genetically-engineered son Tommy, who he hopes will enable him to solve the Anti-Life Equation (not the one from the Snyder Cut) and gain absolute power. Abraxas and Sonia, Tommy's mother, quickly form a connection as they fight to foil Secundus' plan (which involves repeatedly pushing people aside and stealing their cars). Like any good 90's B-movie, it all builds to an epic confrontation in an abandoned factory. Abraxas and Secundus will do battle once more to decide the fate of the universe or Canada or New York or Minnesota, we don't know. Good Movie Podcast? reconvenes to the realms of archelogy and adventure with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). Dr. Indiana Jones returns with some new friends, the spunky kid Short Round and the anything but outdoorsy, lounge singer "Willie" Scott. This unlikely trio is thrown from Shanghai to India on a mystical voyage to bring prosperity back to the downtrodden, recover some sacred stones, and take down a once-thought extant blood-thirsty cult. This Spielberg summer block buster sequel is quite important to both Dan and Jonathan but will it feel more like a wildly fun minecart ride or just some "snake surprise."
