From 'Baseball Isn't Boring' (subscribe here): Isiah Kiner-Falefa has lived a fascinating baseball existence. The player they call Izzy (or IKF), sat down with Bradfo to talk about his journey from Hawaii to Boston and all the stops in between. Izzy offers some next-level insight into both his time with the Yankees and Blue Jays, with the kind of stories and lessons that make you understand the value he brings to an organization. There was also that time he broke up a perfect game by singling off CEO Joe (Kelly). Isiah is a great guy to listen to and get to know. Was that always the core of your plan, or did the run's central theme reveal itself as you built each storyline?A big throughline in your early issues is Peter's youth trauma—middle school rebellion, underage drinking, that “ghost/orphan” feeling. What made you want to excavate that specific era of Peter, and what do you feel it reveals about adult Peter that we don't always get to see? You've got a great handle on Peter's voice—the anxious humor, the scramble-thinking, the moral compass. What's your “non-negotiable” for Spider-Man dialogue, especially when he's scared or outmatched?New villains have to feel dangerous fast. With Plague RX, you paired him with Tombstone and used him to escalate the sense that Peter's absence is creating openings all over NYC. What is Plague RX's core concept—what does he represent in the ecosystem of this run?Without spoiling, where does Kintsugi fit into your larger thematic engine? The word implies brokenness repaired into something stronger—how consciously are you using that idea as a lens for Peter (and the other “Spider-Men” threads) in this era?Looking ahead: Death Spiral is looming. From your perspective, what is Spider-Man's emotional “pressure point” heading into that event—what fear or flaw does the event squeeze that readers might not expect? With the upcoming Death Spiral event on the horizon, a lot of your current themes—identity fractures, moral erosion, escalation—feel like they're converging. How does Death Spiral build on what you've been laying down in Amazing Spider-Man, and what should readers emotionally brace for? We recently lost Sal Buscema, whose work helped define Spider-Man's physicality, emotion, and readability for generations. As someone contributing to Spidey's evolving legacy, what does Sal Buscema's influence mean to you—either directly or indirectly—as a Spider-Man storyteller?
This week on Fantastic Forum, we are swinging into high-stakes action and street-level brutality with two Marvel releases. First up is Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 (2026), written by Saladin Ahmed and Joe Kelly with art by Federico Vicentini. In this oversized annual Peter Parker teams up with a new speedster named Rapid as chaos erupts across New York, and a live-streaming threat named Screwball turns the city into a digital battleground. Do Ahmed and Kelly bring their sharp character work to our resident web-head in this yearly outing? We'll let you know tonight!? Then we take a deep dive into Punisher: Red Band, the five-issue limited series from Benjamin Percy and Julius Ohta with covers by Marco Checchetto. In this gritty, visceral revival of Frank Castle, the Punisher returns with no memories and a full clip, ready to rain down vengeance on the criminal underworld. We'll tell you if blood, bullets, and brutal justice truly define this Red Band run as Percy and Ohta try to push the limits of what Punisher stories can be! The crossover continues as I join Sal Crivelli for Part Two, where the conversation zeroes in on specific creative flashpoints in current comics, and a shared love of pop-culture comfort food. We compare Joe Kelly's and Zeb Wells' respective runs on Amazing Spider-Man, breaking down what worked, what frustrated readers, and why Spidey remains one of the toughest characters to steer long-term. We also look ahead to the upcoming Superman/Spider-Man crossovers by Mark Waid and Brad Meltzer, and why these projects feel like a genuine event rather than a nostalgia cash-in. On the DC side, we talk about the strong momentum behind DC KO and the DC Absolute lines, why those initiatives are connecting with readers, and what they suggest about DC's current editorial confidence. And because not everything has to be a debate, we wrap by bonding over our mutual love of Mystery Science Theater 3000, celebrating the joy of smart riffing, bad movies, and shared fandom.

Immediately after we recorded our last conversation with Brad Meltzer, we recorded a secret second episode. He was aching to discuss his next project, but he couldn't quite let the cat out of the bag until Marvel Comics released its press release. Well, friends, today's the day. The word is out: Brad Meltzer is writing the main story for the upcoming Spider-Man/Superman crossover. Now, we can release our secret conversation. In this exclusive interview with Brad Meltzer, we discuss what these icons mean to the bestselling author and what he hopes to achieve by bringing them together. Meltzer lavishes praise upon his collaborator, artist Pepe Larraz, and assures us that their story will speak directly to the two unique heroisms Spider-Man and Superman practice. We also consider how their origins might cause friction within a team-up. Our conversation with Brad Meltzer also provides another opportunity to debate those iconic words written by Stan Leein Amazing Fantasy #15: “With great power there must also come great responsibility.” We all know what those words mean, right? Right? Let's get into it. Spider-Man/Superman #1 will hit comic shops on April 15th. In addition to Brad Meltzer and Pepe Larraz's story, the comic will feature backup tales by Dan Slott, Marcos Martin, Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, Louise Simonson, Todd Nauck, Joe Kelly, Humberto Ramos, Brian Michael Bendis, Sara Pichelli, and more. Make sure you head to your local bookstore to get your copy of The Viper, and follow Brad Melzer on Instagram and Bluesky. As 2025 closes out and 2026 approaches, Leighton, James and Eddie sit down for a reflective year-end conversation. The trio shares personal takeaways from 2025, highlights the GCTUK episode that resonated most, and looks ahead to what trends might shape the golf industry—both in the UK and globally—as we move into 2026 and beyond. It's an easy, insightful, and genuinely enjoyable discussion. The episode then shifts as Eddie interviews Geoff Swain. Geoff, a former World Trick Shot Champion, has built a global career as an entertainer through his trick-shot shows, clinics, presenting, and corporate appearances. Geoff's story is both inspiring and candid—he talks openly about the significant health challenges he has faced, how he pushed through them, and how he continues to deliver world-class entertainment. A great conversation with a great storyteller. https://www.geoffswaingolfunplugged.com/ Favourite episodes mentioned in our review: Rob Climas - 128 Tony Adams - 124 Joe Kelly - 123 Andy Brown - 121 PGA of Canada - 129 Inclusivity in Golf - 117 Connect with Us: Instagram: @golfclubtalkuk Website: Golf Club Talk UK https://www.linkedin.com/in/leighton-walker-2708b627/ A big thanks to our partner - Toro Click here for more information https://eddiebullockgolf.com/ Support us here: https://buymeacoffee.com/gctuk Rate & Review Please leave a 5-star review and share this episode with your golf circle!

Peter Van Valkenburgh is the Executive Director of Coin Center, a leading nonprofit research and advocacy group focused on cryptocurrency policy. In this episode, Peter joins The Bitcoin Frontier to explore why defending the right to self-custody is about much more than bitcoin — it's about the future of individual freedom, open-source innovation, and financial privacy. We dig into the parallels between the 1990s “crypto wars” and today's digital sovereignty battles, the threats facing developers of privacy tools, and the constitutional foundations for privacy and property in the digital age.SUPPORT THE PODCAST: → Subscribe → Leave a review → Share the show with your friends and family → Send us an email: podcast@unchained.com → Learn more about Unchained: https://unchained.com/?utm_source=you... → Book a free call with a bitcoin expert: https://unchained.com/consultation?ut...TIMESTAMPS:0:00 – Intro and Peter's journey from acting to bitcoin policy2:00 – Discovering the cypherpunks and the roots of internet freedom4:00 – Entering bitcoin through law school and meeting Jerry Brito6:00 – Founding Coin Center and defining “permissionless innovation”9:00 – The mission: protecting the freedom to build and use open blockchains11:00 – Bitcoin's privacy problem and the legal risks of building privacy tech13:00 – Educating DC: explaining bitcoin to Congress in the early days16:00 – Navigating the SEC, ICOs, and defining what counts as a security18:30 – The evolution from education to constitutional litigation22:00 – Bitcoin as the revival of a “bearer instrument” economy26:00 – The “secret right to cash” and the Fourth Amendment's blind spot30:00 – Privacy, property, and what bitcoin reveals about constitutional limits35:00 – The Keep Your Coins Act and why it matters for financial sovereignty43:00 – The DOJ's shift toward prosecuting developers — and why it's dangerous46:00 – Inside the Tornado Cash and Samurai Wallet prosecutions50:00 – How Coin Center is fighting for software publishing rights54:00 – Legislative progress: Clarity, Keep Your Coins, and BRCA1:00:00 – Lessons from the 1990s encryption wars1:03:00 – How liability protections shaped (and centralized) the internet1:08:00 – The convenience dilemma: why self-custody must become easier1:12:00 – The Bank Secrecy Act, mass surveillance, and new legal challenges1:19:00 – Coin Center's constitutional lawsuits for privacy and association rights1:23:00 – Why the BSA is ripe for reform — and bitcoin's role in that debate1:27:00 – Zero-knowledge proofs, AML, and a future of privacy-preserving compliance1:29:00 – How self-custody wallets enable digital identity and personal sovereignty1:31:00 – Closing thoughts: bitcoin as the foundation for a freer digital futureWHERE TO FOLLOW US: → Unchained X: https://x.com/unchained → Unchained LinkedIn: / unchainedcom → Unchained Newsletter: https://unchained.com/newsletter → Joe Kelly's Twitter: https://x.com/josephkelly → Peter Van Valkenburgh's Twitter: https://x.com/valkenburgh

Seth Hertlein is the Global Head of Policy at Ledger and one of the earliest, most persistent advocates for bitcoin self-custody in Washington. Known for his “lone ranger” years as the only lobbyist focused on protecting non-custodial rights, he brings a rare combination of securities law expertise, political insight, and deep conviction about individual property rights. In this episode, Seth joins The Last Free Americans to share how he fell down the bitcoin rabbit hole, why self-custody is a return to humanity's oldest property norms, and how today's policy battles will define digital freedom for generations. We dig into the evolution of financial intermediaries, the history of natural rights from Aristotle to the framers, and the real political forces lining up for and against self-custody.SUPPORT THE PODCAST:→ Subscribe → Leave a review → Share the show with your friends and family → Send us an email: podcast@unchained.com→ Learn more about Unchained: https://unchained.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=podcast → Book a free call with a bitcoin expert: https://unchained.com/consultation?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=podcastTIMESTAMPS:0:00 – Intro to The Last Free Americans & Seth's unique role in policy2:20 – How a securities regulator became an “accidental crypto lobbyist”5:03 – Early bitcoin reading, monetary policy, and recognizing its political nature7:43 – The aha moment of self-custody: from Ledger device to first withdrawal12:58 – Ownership vs. possession: how financial markets drifted into full intermediation16:40 – Why self-custody is not new: property as a natural human right22:45 – How centralization overtook markets: certificates, DTCC, and efficiency tradeoffs27:58 – 2021: the year Washington and the industry “woke up” to each other33:10 – Keep Your Coins Act, Canadian truckers, and why lawful peer-to-peer matters38:40 – Property rights, natural law, and the framers' blind spots on privacy45:55 – Executive Order 6102, takings law, and lessons for bitcoin52:03 – How the Bank Secrecy Act and third-party doctrine became digital surveillance59:42 – The three camps opposing self-custody: nats-ec hawks, socialists, and bureaucracies1:05:40 – The IRS broker rule, CRA repeal, and precedents for stopping overreach1:11:22 – House vs. Senate language: what “retain the right” really means1:17:14 – Odds of passage in 2024 and why Senate floor time is everything1:22:44 – The global landscape: why America is still the last best hope1:27:50 – What comes next: privacy as the next digital freedom frontier1:32:10 – Closing thoughts on restoring founding principles through BitcoinWHERE TO FOLLOW US: → Unchained X: https://x.com/unchained → Unchained LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/unchainedcom → Unchained Newsletter: https://unchained.com/newsletter → Joe Kelly's Twitter: https://x.com/josephkelly → Seth Hertlein's Twitter: https://x.com/SethHertlein

Tim Hite is the director of policy at Exodus and a former congressional staffer for Rep. Warren Davidson. He helped shape early self-custody legislation—including the Keep Your Coins Act (a playful nod to “KYC”)—and bridges law, technology, and individual rights. In this episode, Tim's discussion kicks off The Last Free Americans miniseries to share the origin story of self-custody protections on Capitol Hill, how “keep your coins” language differs from the Clarity Act's approach, and what meaningful safeguards against CBDCs could look like. We dig into the evolution of property rights in a digital world, why illicit-finance fears are often overstated, and how social media has changed the legislative battlefield.SUPPORT THE PODCAST:→ Subscribe→ Leave a review→ Share the show with your friends and family→ Send us an email: podcast@unchained.com→ Learn more about Unchained: https://unchained.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=podcast→ Book a free call with a bitcoin expert: https://unchained.com/consultation?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=podcastTIMESTAMPS:0:00 – Intro, disclaimers & why self-custody matters now0:51 – “The Last Free Americans”: series premise1:16 – Tim's path: 2017 bull run, law school, FINRA, and meeting Rep. Joe Kelly is the co-founder and CEO of Unchained. In this latest episode, Joe shares his story and Alaskan roots that shaped a deep respect for self-sufficiency—an experience he now applies to the digital frontier. In this episode, Joe joins The Bitcoin Frontier to share why Unchained is launching a new miniseries, The Last Free Americans, how self-custody became his life's work, and why the conservation movement offers a powerful analogy for protecting financial freedom.
