After 40+ years as the dean of the Daytona International Speedway press room, now former Daytona Beach News-Journal Motorsports journalist Godwin Kelly joins Ed Berliner for a wide ranging discussion of things such as why NASCAR fumbled their chance at the really big time, how they can get it back on track, why drivers both past and present are essential to that recovery, and why reporters here in 2020, both in racing and other sports, need to take lessons in humility and professionalism before writing good stories goes completely out of style.
He is one of, if not the, most prolific play by play announcer to ever call action on the ice. With more than 5000 regular season games to his credit, more than 200 NHL playoff games under his belt, and a few Stanley Cups to show for it, Jiggs McDonald is one of the very best there has ever been at calling hockey. Time to tell those tales as he joins Ed Berliner on "The Man in the Arena"
National Polygamy Advocate ™ Mark Henkel was interviewed on Newsmax TV news show, MidPoint, with host Ed Berliner, on January 19, 2015. This network claims to be a conservative media outlet serving a conservative audience. The host introduced the topic with reference to a standard "slippery slope" statement by Senator Lindsey Graham, in a Senate committee hearing considering President Barack Obama's nominee for Attorney General, Loretta Lynch - that if same sex marriage can be legalized, so must polygamy. Mark Henkel answered the question with the perfect answer to easily persuade any actual conservative: limited government, the polygamy rights win-win solution. When asked if polygamy was still illegal, Mark Henkel again gave another perfect answer to easily persuade any actual conservative, even using his humorous sound-bite of the "liberal activist judges of the 1878 Supreme Court in the Reynolds v. United States case." The host then began what seems to be planned speech using wild hyperbole, such as claims of how polygamy supposedly is evil." As the host began the speech, someone at the network disconnected the skype access to Mark Henkel. The host's seeming speech sounds extremely prepared for suggesting this "disconnection" was supposedly a surprise. When Mark Henkel called back by phone, someone at the network disconnected that too. All the while, the host continued the same seemingly planned and prepared speech, saying that "someone, maybe a higher power" stopped the interview as if it was somehow something miraculous (or God-ordained). The host continued the seemingly prepared speech, asserting the supposed "slippery slope" argument of how polygamy is supposedly "so evil" 0- while conveniently not empowering Mark Henkel to eplxain otherwise. While the host purported that they would bring Mark Henkel back in a future interview, the network had still not done so even more than years later. http://www.NationalPolygamyAdvocate.com --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nationalpolygamyadvocate/support
Ed Berliner worked in and around NASCAR and several other motorsport organizations for many years. That's why the noose found hanging in Bubba Wallace's garage area is not surprising to him in the least.
The NHL is trying to fill the sports void by coming up with a plan they believe could make them the only pro game in town for while, but it's a 24 team playoff format riddled with holes. Veteran NHL beat reporter and analyst Jimmy Murphy joins Ed Berliner for a dedicated show to the NHL and their idea.
Kobe Bryant was more than just an exceptional basketball player. He was a teenager thrust into the world of men, the kid who conquered a league, the young man who seemed to try his best in throwing it all away, and who in the end realized what he had been given and turned his life into an inspirational cavalcade. Roland Lazenby is an accomplished American author of numerous sports books, 2 of those about Kobe Bryant. He joins Ed Berliner to remember Kobe, with stories many will hear for the first time. Another special edition of the sports program that speaks to the intelligent mind, "The Fastest Show in Sports".
Less than a week into the Women's World Cup, the US team has been embroiled in several controversies as they dominate the competition. The latest is Megan Rapinoe and her refusal to honor the American national anthem in a traditional manner. Ed Berliner believes she is not entirely wrong in her frustration, and could one day be another part of history in righting more than a few social wrongs.
The US Women's National Soccer Team crushed Thailand 13-0 in their opening World Cup game, and some are calling for them to apologize. Ed Berliner calls that out as blatant sexism and jealousy, especially considering the mess the US Men's program has been in for years.
The time has come to stop making excuses for thoroughbred horse racing in America. Emmy Award winning sportscaster and former horse racing correspondent Ed Berliner is calling for the either harsh restrictions on drug use in the sport or the abolition of it entirely. In this "Speaking of Sports" episode, he's not afraid to call out the gamblers who will wager millions on this weekend's Belmont Stakes and thus feed the bloodlust of this heinous so-called sport.

The Buffalo Bills are making a mistake in allowing the reissue of jersey #32, the one made famous by OJ Simpson. While Simpson was long past his football years after causing the deaths of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman, Ed Berliner believes the memories merely seeing that jersey flash again on the field and being talked about are not worth the pain it will cause. His commentary in "Speaking of Sports".
EJ Manuel came into the NFL with all the promise one could muster for a 1st round draft choice. He lasted a mere 30 games thanks in part to the football fame machine, which used him up and spit him out when he was no longer useful to them, the Buffalo Bills or the NFL. Ed Berliner wastes no time taking the usual opportunists to task.
Emmy Award winning sportscaster Ed Berliner relaunches the sports commentary show "Speaking of Sports" in the spirit of host Howard Cosell, the man who always practiced "telling it like it is".

Happy Friday! This evening we will take exploref the nexuas between immigration and terrorism. With all of the focus that has been applied to the failures of the U.S./Mexican border, finally politicians and journalists have apparently “discovered” that where immigration is concerned, there are many more vulnerabilities to be considered than only our porous southern border. On December 7th FrontPage Magazine published my article, “Fighting The War On Terror Here, There and Everywhere: The San Bernardino jihad attack and the battle inside our borders.” On December 6th I was interviewed by Tuck Carlson on Fox & Friends to discuss, “Why was it so easy for Tashfeen Malik to enter the US?” Retired senior special agent for INS talks need for stronger vetting on 'Fox & Friends' On Thursday, December 10th I was interviewed by Ed Berliner on Newsmax-TV: The Hard Line | Michael W. Cutler - Have federal agents focus more on homegrown terror: Retired senior special agent with the INS joins The Hard Line to discuss the many failures of our immigration system since the 1980s and how that has left us open to possible terrorists entering the country. Cutler wants to move agents from other details, possibly from the war on drugs and have them focus more on homegrown terror. All Americans must contact their elected representatives to demand that they act our best interests. Democracy is not a spectator sport!
