Two high-stakes meetings are scheduled at the White House today, as President Trump meets with Ukraine's President Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, both in town for Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral. For the Israeli leader, the Washington reception today will be very different to the last. Rahm Emanuel, formerly a US ambassador to Japan, a White House chief of staff, and a congressman, has been a longtime supporter of Israel. He himself volunteered to serve in the IDF. But he now says the US should not provide its long-time ally with unconditional military aid, arguing they should be treated like any other country. Michael recaps with Mark about Friday's White House Correspondents' Dinner. Mark and Michael try to understand Mamdani's motive for coming out, saying he will arrest Bibi Netanyahu and displaying information for people with second homes, highlighting the pied-à-terre tax on secondary homes. A big question looms about Mamdani showing up at the 9-11 victims' ceremony in September, which may cause issues, since many victims' family members don't want him there.  A new video from Savannah Guthrie has come out, continuing to demand answers and help in finding her mother. Her recent video suggests she may be targeting one person, given how she speaks about it. President Trump may scold Bibi for releasing secret info about the war and other things in the USA. Dr. Anthony Fauci may be exposed big time tomorrow during a hearing about his journals, and Mark explains how Senator Rand Paul has made it his mission to expose Fauci, and we may see that happen Wednesday. Fauci having a Pardon makes it hard for him to get in trouble. Rosie O' Donnell called Trump a rapist on The View yesterday, which may result in a lawsuit for ABC again, which follows ABC's George Stephonolpus saying the same thing about Trump that cost ABC money. Mark interviews streaming host Bill O' Reilly. Bill explains how the White House Correspondents' Dinner was a setup by reporters and correspondents, specifically on the left like CNN, CBS, and more, to try to bait Trump into going crazy; did it work? Mamdani may run the city up in massive debt because who's paying for his new grocery store plan? //The Wire//2000Z July 28, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: MAJOR EARTHQUAKE STRIKES SOUTHERN JAPAN. NETANYAHU ARRIVES IN WASHINGTON D.C. FOR SEN. GRAHAM FUNERAL. HOUTHI TARGETING OF SAUDI OIL REFINERIES REMAINS CONSTANT.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Japan: This morning a major earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.1 struck the Kumamoto prefecture, causing damage to critical infrastructure and residential areas in southern Japan. Aeon Mall was one of the most heavily damaged structures, with several entrapments being reported as shoppers were unable to exit the building due to a partial collapse of the structure. After this collapse, a gas explosion was also reported at the mall, and as of this morning approximately 20-30x people remained missing.Middle East: No major changes to the overall situation were reported overnight. Satellite imagery has become available that confirms the Houthis not just hit the Jazan refinery a few days ago, but also the refinery at Yanbu. This afternoon, the Houthis announced that they had targeted a tanker vessel which has been at anchor off Yanbu for a few days, though the success of this targeting has not yet been confirmed.Analyst Comment: Despite the devastating strikes on Saudi oil facilities over the past few days, oil markets continue to plummet, indicating a sharp departure from the reality of the situation.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. - Yesterday afternoon PM Netanyahu arrived for the state funeral of Sen. Lindsey Graham, as well as to conduct meetings regarding the war in Iran. This morning, the proceedings for Sen. Graham began at the Capitol, and various politicians and dignitaries are expected to make an appearance throughout the day.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: Debate is growing regarding the general status of the war in the Middle East. Iranian targeting has remained fairly tepid after last week's strikes, although the Houthis have continued to deal damage to Saudi infrastructure over the past few days. For the United States, every indicator lined up last week to suggest weekend strikes were going to take place, but leaks from the White House and Pentagon have suggested that the strikes were called off for now. As to why, the rumors diverge sharply and there's no way to get a solid bead on what the actual plan is at the moment. The situation has reached another point (much like has happened before) where the US can just as equally go all-in on another round of strikes, or the US could do nothing. Nevertheless, if strikes are planned, timing wise it's almost certain to take place after Netanyahu returns home from his visit to the US.President Trump himself confirmed one of the main reasons for PM Netanyahu visiting Washington, is to provide an in-person briefing on the infamous Pickaxe Mountain complex at the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran. In various statements since this leaked, President Trump pushed back on the significance of this underground complex (and thus indicating less support for conducting another Midnight Hammer-style operation), but as always this can go either way.Analyst: S2A1 Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground NomadNet: 5fa68c88be727a0e1a250a75e5e79269 Disclaimer: No LLMs were used in the writing of this report. //END REPORT//

Before the substance: listeners weigh in on our AI-generated cover art, Claude's new prediction scorecard grades our respective forecasting records, and Justices Kagan and Barrett take the Court's budget request — and some docket-terminology talk — to Congress. Then we spend the rest of the show on T.M. v. University of Maryland Medical System Corporation, in which the Rooker-Feldman doctrine, pronounced dead in the Green Bag two decades ago, proves alive enough to reach state-court judgments still on appeal. We try to figure out what the doctrine actually is, whether § 1257 or § 1331 is doing the work, and why the Court's committed formalists split down the middle. Along the way: insider trading as a University of Chicago virtue, a concurrence that may be playing a long game on federal habeas, and a dissent that's "exactly correct and not the law."Highlights[00:00:21] Opening: back from vacation, episode 26 of the season, chasing the all-time record of 29[00:01:15] Listener verdict on the AI back-catalog covers — Proximity Mines in the Facility gets its due, and no, we're not commissioning an artist[00:03:33] Will's Kant remarks draw "especially strenuous criticism"; he declines to recant[00:04:38] Claude's prediction scorecard grades the back catalog: Dan 82.4%, Will 71.2% — hedged singles vs. high-variance swings[00:07:06] Are prediction markets just gambling? Mark recaps the White House Correspondents' Dinner that took place on Friday and explains the reasons the dinner was originally moved. The war in Iran is currently paused, and it's causing a drop in oil prices globally. BIBI Netanyahu, Volodymyr Zelensky, and more big worldwide leaders will be joining President Trump tomorrow at Lindsey Graham's funeral, which will be taking place at the Washington National Cathedral in D.C. Could there be talk about the war in Iran between BIBI and Trump there, since this will be the first time the two are together since the war started?  Mark interviews Pollster John McLaughlin. John and Mark explain the latest polls on President Trump's approval rating, and it's not too bad. The guys explain how the Republican Party needs a strong message to win the midterms. Mark, Larry Kudlow of Fox Business, and John share the view that another massive tax break for businesses and Americans may be needed to stabilize the economy.  Mark plays some sound from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about what Socialism is really all about, as a person with a finance background himself, and explains how Socialism concentrates on power. Deals may be able to lower prices in grocery stores, but there may be a catch. Mark explains some important info if you are a tea drinker! The Republican National Committee has $129 million in cash on hand, and the Democratic National Committee has about $ 2 million in debt.  Mark interviews Fox News contributor Liz Peek. Liz believes Mayor Mamdani's voters are overeducated white liberals who praise Mamdani. The antisemitism in NYC with Zohran Mamdani could cause division if not properly looked at. Liz and Mark talk about the differences happening right now in the Democratic and Republican parties. Socialists and liberal mindsets don't believe in the same kind of economic policies that could help businesses. Republicans think differently, and Liz explains the difference in the economy under a Republican administration and a socialist one. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Diplomatic correspondent Lazar Berman joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. After several nights without US strikes on Iranian targets, Israeli leaders still estimate that US President Donald Trump could soon be compelled to step up military action, according to Israeli reports. The US military has continued to send significant forces to Israel, including dozens of warplanes, refueling planes, air defenses and munitions — a similar deployment to the one that took place just before the US-Israeli war against Iran was launched in late February, according to the Kan broadcaster. At recording time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has boarded Israel's official Wing of Zion plane. Berman rolls out what he expects will be on the agenda for tomorrow's planned Trump-Netanyahu meetup. Netanyahu is set to attend the funeral of the late Republican senator Lindsey Graham. Yesterday, reports surfaced based on unaired footage seen by The Wall Street Journal that Netanyahu talked Graham out of convincing Trump to join Israel’s fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Berman shares other insights from the posthumously released excerpts from an upcoming documentary. Yesterday, after a deadly Friday shootout was sparked when settlers illegally entered a Nablus-area village, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed at a cabinet meeting to expand farming outposts and operations against Palestinian “terrorist strongholds” in the West Bank. This promise was made soon after leaked reports were published of Netanyahu's March condemnation of extremist settler violence. How do these conflicting statements play on the international stage? Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Sending FBI Director Kash Patel to Moscow right before the Midterms is like sending a coked-up frat boy into a whorehouse in hell, and the FSB will eat him alive. As Trump pushes the SAVE Act to disenfranchise millions, is he calling in Russian reinforcements to steal Congress?  Can we overcome a gutted Voting Rights Act, MAGA poll taxes, and Russian cyber warfare and disinformation brainrotting? Yes. By treating our vote as sacred and doing the unglamorous, powerful grassroots work that wins elections–and ensured Zohran Mamdani defeated Andrew Cuomo not once, but twice. Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Clay Travis and Buck Sexton talk about how the Democratic Party is experiencing a demographic and ideological divide. They argued that the party’s most vocal socialist activists are disproportionately white, college-educated, and affluent, while many Black and Hispanic voters hold more practical and transactional political priorities centered on issues such as healthcare, affordability, public safety, and economic opportunity. The discussion explored whether the far left is merely influencing the party or has become an increasingly mainstream force within Democratic politics. The hosts tied this debate to broader national issues including immigration policy, open borders, Israel, transgender politics, and the rise of democratic socialism. They also briefly noted Arizona’s primary election and discussed its significance in the national political landscape, particularly regarding the future of Governor Katie Hobbs. Clay and Buck devoted considerable attention to the potential safety benefits of autonomous driving technology. They discussed the approximately 40,000 annual traffic fatalities in the United States and suggested that self-driving systems could dramatically reduce accidents caused by human error, particularly among young drivers. The hosts compared the coming transportation revolution to the transition from horses to automobiles in the early twentieth century, arguing that autonomous vehicles could become one of the most transformative technological developments of modern times. They also discussed how self-driving technology could eventually reduce teenage driving fatalities, improve traffic flow, lower insurance costs, and improve overall road safety. The conversation then expanded into a broader discussion about why Democrats lost recent elections and who may lead the party in the future. Clay argued that today’s Democratic Party has moved substantially leftward compared to the Democratic Party of Bill Clinton, Al Gore, or even Barack Obama. The hosts suggested that Democratic leaders continue to misdiagnose voter dissatisfaction by blaming messaging failures instead of addressing policy positions that many voters reject. They debated possible future Democratic presidential contenders, including Kamala Harris, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, while emphasizing that they see the Democratic leadership vacuum as one of the most intriguing political stories heading toward the next presidential election cycle. An extensive interview with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who discussed a number of major economic and policy initiatives. Bessent highlighted the administration’s “Trump Accounts” program, which provides investment opportunities for young Americans and newborn children. He explained how government-seeded investment accounts, combined with family contributions and private-sector philanthropy, could potentially grow into significant financial assets over time. The discussion focused on wealth building, financial literacy, investment growth, family savings strategies, and long-term economic opportunity for American children. Bessent also provided an update on the U.S. economy, discussing inflation, energy prices, tax relief measures, and working-family economic policies. He argued that inflation pressures caused during the Biden administration continue to affect household budgets but maintained that underlying economic conditions remain strong. He highlighted tax policies including no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime pay, Social Security tax relief, and deductions tied to American-made vehicles. The secretary emphasized that many of these benefits are targeted toward middle-class and working-class Americans. Foreign policy and national security were another major theme of the interview. Bessent discussed efforts to track, freeze, and recover assets connected to Iran’s ruling regime and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He described ongoing investigations into Iranian financial networks, frozen cryptocurrency wallets, luxury properties, and what he characterized as widespread corruption among Iranian leadership. The secretary argued that economic sanctions and financial pressure complement military actions against Iran and are designed to weaken the regime while preserving assets for the Iranian people. The conversation also touched on government efficiency, fraud prevention, and taxpayer protection. Bessent explained how enhanced coordination between federal payment systems and anti-fraud databases has helped the Treasury Department identify and block payments being sent to individuals who were deceased. He described efforts to modernize federal systems and reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending programs, claiming that hundreds of millions of dollars in improper payments could ultimately be prevented. South Carolina politics briefly entered the discussion when Clay asked Bessent about the late Senator Lindsey Graham and speculation surrounding Graham’s sister as a potential candidate. Bessent praised Graham’s service, commented on the competitive Republican primary developing in South Carolina, and reiterated that he intends to remain focused on his current role as Treasury Secretary rather than pursuing elected office. The interview concluded with a lighthearted exchange about President Donald Trump’s late-night phone calls and work habits. Lindsey Graham died a little over a week ago – and last Tuesday, his younger sister, Darline Graham, was sworn in to fill his seat. Given that she has absolutely no experience in politics, pretty much everyone thought that Darline Graham was just going to be filling in her late brother's seat until his term ended. But on Friday, President Trump posted on Truth Social that he wants her to run to be the new Republican nominee in August's special primary election — and on Monday, she generously agreed. But many other Republicans have jumped into the race anyway… and whoever wins the nomination will be facing our guest today: Dr. Annie Andrews. She's a pediatrician who has focused her campaign not on Donald Trump, but on the health of everyday South Carolinians. And in headlines: Trump imposes new 50% tariffs on most Canadian goods, Arizona goes to the polls, and the New York Times reports that Trump denied nearly 6,000 clemency petitions from people who followed the Justice Department's stated policies for requesting pardons.Show Notes: Check out Dr. Annie Andrews – https://drannieandrews.com/ Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please email transcripts@crooked.com

Today's Headlines: Kash Patel scheduled a trip to Russia in October with no disclosed agenda or meeting list, which is a perfectly normal thing for the FBI director to do while leading an agency that investigates Russian interference. In tariff news, Trump dropped new tariffs on Canada — specifically cars, alcohol, cheese, and hockey sticks — on products covered by the USMCA trade deal he negotiated himself in 2020 and called "the best deal ever," though they don't kick in for 30 days so this is probably a stunt. Meanwhile, the cyclospora lettuce saga got weirder when the FDA announced the positive test on Taylor Farms lettuce was a "false positive" — conveniently after Taylor Farms donated a million dollars to Trump's super PAC in 2025, six days after the FDA delayed food traceability rules that would have applied to companies like Taylor Farms, and one day after Taylor Farms executives met with senior FDA officials before issuing their voluntary recall and blaming Taco Bell, so the whole thing smells like something other than lettuce. On ICE, the FBI will no longer investigate confrontations between ICE agents and civilians — essentially eliminating the only oversight ICE was ever exposed to — with responsibility for investigating ICE now falling to ICE itself, and traffic stops resuming less than 24 hours after DHS said they'd stop them. On a related press freedom note, the DOJ subpoenaed phone records of multiple New York Times journalists, at least two of their spouses, and one of their mothers, dating back to January 1st — long before their reporting on Trump's Qatari jet. A judge temporarily blocked the Paramount-Warner Brothers merger for two weeks, siding with 12 state attorneys general on antitrust grounds, which means Bari Weiss running CNN is on hold until at least August 3rd. On the election beat, Lindsey Graham's sister Darline — sworn in less than two weeks after her brother died — announced on Sean Hannity that she's running for the full six-year term, citing "inner peace," which is one way to process grief. And finally, on a genuinely positive note, Senator Andy Kim introduced MediKIDS, legislation that would automatically enroll every child at birth in health insurance through age 26, covering 4.4 million uninsured kids. Lindsey Graham's death last week at 71 was as remarkable for the senator's relative "youth" as its possible political and electoral consequences, so much so that it actually prompted conspiracy theories about the precise nature of his passing. Meanwhile, 84-year old Mitch McConnell's status as among the living remains shrouded in mystery, and former president 83-year old former president Joe Biden announced that his memoir would be published in November via his cadaver-esque presence in a promotional video. Lindsey Olin Graham (July 9, 1955 – July 11, 2026) was an American politician, attorney, and Air Force officer who represented South Carolina in the U.S. Senate from 2003 until his death in 2026. He was one of the most influential Republican senators of his era, particularly on national security, judicial nominations, and foreign policy. Early Life Graham was born in Central, South Carolina, where his parents owned a restaurant, pool hall, and liquor store. He became the first member of his family to attend college, earning both a bachelor's degree and a law degree from the University of South Carolina. While in school, he suffered the loss of both parents within about 15 months and took responsibility for helping raise his younger sister. Military Service After law school, Graham joined the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, serving as a military lawyer. He served on active duty from 1982 to 1989, including assignments in Germany, and later continued in the South Carolina Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. During his military career he reached the rank of Colonel and retired in 2015 after 33 years of service. Entry into Politics Graham began his political career in the South Carolina House of Representatives, serving from 1993 to 1995. In 1994, he won election to the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina's 3rd Congressional District, becoming the first Republican elected from that district since Reconstruction. During his time in the House, he gained national attention as one of the House managers who prosecuted the impeachment case against President Bill Clinton in 1999. U.S. Senate Career Graham was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002 and took office in January 2003. He won reelection in 2008, 2014, and 2020. Throughout his Senate career he served on several powerful committees, including Judiciary, Appropriations, Budget, and Environment and Public Works. He also chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee and later the Senate Budget Committee. Key Political Positions Graham became known for: Strong support for a robust U.S. military and interventionist foreign policy. Advocacy for American support of allies such as Ukraine and Israel. Leadership on judicial confirmations, including helping advance the confirmations of Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Relationship with Donald Trump One of the most notable aspects of Graham's career was his evolving relationship with Donald Trump. During the 2016 Republican presidential primary, Graham strongly criticized Trump, but after Trump's election, however, Graham became one of his closest allies in Congress and frequently advised him on foreign-policy and judicial matters. Legacy His supporters remember him as a skilled legislator, military veteran, and influential voice on national security. Critics often challenged his changing political alliances and hawkish foreign-policy positions. Nevertheless, he remained one of the most recognizable and consequential Republican senators of the early 21st century Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Mark Levin Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 18, 2026 77:04

This week on the Mark Levin Show, Senator Lindsey Graham, a loyal friend and loyal ally to democratic and peace-loving countries around the world, has passed away. He was a friend to Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan, and others. He was a counterbalance to naive Woke Reich isolationists who talk about American sovereignty but don't realize you have to fight for it. Graham had a lot in common in national security matters with Ronald Reagan. Not even a nation as powerful as the United States can go it alone, and Graham understood we have alliances for a reason. The left and Woke Reich isolationists wasted no time attacking him, but he was popular in South Carolina and all over the world. He and his sound advice will be truly missed. Then, the infiltration of America by Islamists and jihadis is really in full force, and no one seems to be doing anything about it. Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed's father-in-law, Jukaku Tayeb, is a top donor to his super PAC and a longtime leader on ISNA's founding committee and CAIR Michigan president—both groups are co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation terror-financing trial that funneled millions to Hamas, tied to the Muslim Brotherhood mothership responsible for groups like Al Qaeda, ISIS, and Hamas, and funded by Qatar and Turkey. Why do Democrats tolerate these ties? Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) seeks to eliminate the U.S. Senate and Electoral College to advance their agenda, though both require constitutional amendments. These institutions exist to protect smaller, less-populated states, ensuring they have a meaningful say in government so they would join the Union during independence. Similarly, the Electoral College ensures smaller states influence presidential elections, countering domination by a handful of large, populous Democrat metropolitan states and cities. Removing these safeguards would enable mob rule, open borders, non-citizen influence, and a centralized Marxist government. Later, the 2028 Republican presidential primary must be competitive and vibrant, with no coronations. The Republican Party needs to be rooted in the principles of Jefferson, Washington, Madison, Reagan, Buckley, Goldwater, and Milton Friedman's free markets—not Democrat-lite nationalism or populism that dismisses history—and we should demand articulate candidates who boldly contrast conservative beliefs with the left. No, we don't want a bold government, which is what the socialists and Marxists desire. We want an effective limited government confined to its constitutional powers, a bold private sector, and individual sovereignty. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
