I could not be more excited to share today's interview with you. As you know, it is my very first time interviewing someone for the podcast and who better to interview than the fabulous Elena S. Blair! I first got to know Elena because she taught for us at the Family Narrative in 2019. Elena is a woman who is a self taught photographer with no background in business, much like a lot of us, who went against a lot of industry norms and never let the naysayers stop her from following her dreams and who now runs an extremely profitable and very sustainable business that she loves. I want to be sure that you stick around to the end because not only does Elena drop a huge amount of great information, she's also got a great freebie to share with all of you too. And we're going to share that at the end. So, without any further ado, let's dive in. Show notes: thiscantbethathard.com/podcast/009
Elena S. Blair is a Seattle-based photographer, mother of three, and owns a thriving lifestyle family and newborn photography business. She is also passionate about building community and encouraging other photographers to find depth and purpose in their work and business through both online and in-person education. In this episode, Elena and I talk about her photography and life journey over the past eleven years since she followed her intuition and against all logic bought a camera with insurance money after her house was broken into. We explore how she’s boldly turned traumatic life experiences into opportunity. Hear how being vulnerable allowed her to build a community and give people a space to express and share their own struggles. Find out where Elena repeatedly heard the phrase as a child, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’ You’ll learn why an abundance mindset isn’t just about money. This is We Are Photographers with Elena S. Blair and this is her story.
Elena says that in the 15 years she and her husband Doug were together, she never felt insecure once. Until one night Doug went out with friends, and Elena suddenly knew something was up. Something that didn't involve her. Trigger warnings: this episode discusses infidelity and includes swearing. Find Elena on social media: ig: @elenasblair_photography
