Todaywe're continuing in Ephesians 1:15-18. Paul desired the Ephesian Christians tounderstand what great wealth they had in Christ. Paul knew of their faith andlove, and in this he rejoiced. The Christian life has two dimensions: faithtoward God and love toward men, and you cannot separate the two. Now theChristian life always begins with faith. Salvation is experienced by faith inthe Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:8-13; Ephesians 2:8-9). But then the realproof of our faith is our love toward other believers and toward the people inthe world around us. We are to love them as Christ loved them. He loved them somuch that while they were yet sinners, He died for them on a cross. We are tolove others even as we want others to love us. TheScripture teaches us that when we walk with God, live in His Word, when we arefill with His Word, that we will be like a tree planted by the rivers ofwaters, bringing forth fruit in its season. Our leaves will not wither, andwhatsoever we do will prosper (Psalms 1:2-3). Now, when you have the Word ofGod, abiding in your heart, living by the river of waters, the water of God's Word, and filling your life with it, your root of your faith will go down deep intothe heart of God. Then my friend, you will be like a tree that is glorious, alife that reflects and shines forth the fruit of the love of God. Yes,faith is the root and love is the fruit. Don't ever forget that faith is theroot of our Christian life and love is the fruit of our Christian life, andalso the outward evidence that we truly have been born again. But Paul knewthat faith and love were just the beginning. The Ephesians needed to know muchmore. This is why he prayed for them, and for us. Inthe four prison prayers of Paul found in Ephesians 1:15-23; 3:14-21; Philippians1:9-11; and Colossians 1:9-12, we discover the blessings he wanted his convertsto enjoy. In none of these prayers does Paul request material things. Hisemphasis is on spiritual perception and real Christian character. He does notask God to give them what they do not have, but rather prays that God willreveal to them what they already have. Beforewe study Paul's four requests in this "prayer for enlightenment"in Ephesians 1, we must notice two facts. First, enlightenment comes from theHoly Spirit. He is the "Spirit of wisdom and revelation" (Isaiah11:2; John 14:25-26; 16:12-14). With his natural mind, man cannot understandthe things of God. He needs the Spirit to enlighten him (1 Corinthians 2:9-16).The Holy Spirit reveals truth to us from the Word, and then gives us the wisdomto understand and apply it. He also gives us the power—the enablement—topractice the truth (Ephesians 3:14-21). Second, this enlightenment comes to the heart of the believer (Ephesians 1:18).Literally this verse reads, "The eyes of your heart beingenlightened." We think of the heart as the emotional part of man, butin the Bible, the heart means the inner man, and includes the emotions, themind, and the will. The inner man, the heart, has spiritual faculties thatparallel the physical senses. Theinner man can see (Ps. 119:18; John 3:3).Theinner man can hear (Matt. 13:9; Heb. 5:11).Theinner man can taste (Ps. 34:8; 1 Peter 2:3).Theinner man can smell (Phil. 4:18; 2 Cor. 2:14)Andthe inner man can touch (Acts 17:27). Thisis what Jesus meant when He said of the people: "They seeing see not, andhearing they hear not" (Matt. 13:13). The inability to see and understandspiritual things is not the fault of the intelligence but of the heart. Theeyes of the heart must be opened by the Spirit of God. Thisis why Paul prayed this prayer for the believers at Ephesus. This is a wonderfulprayer that we can also pray for family and friends on regular basis! May God'sHoly Spirit open the eyes of our heart today! Godbless!

Delivered by Samuel Ivan Gunarsa from the Parish of Mary of All Nations in the Diocese of Bogor, Indonesia. 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-6.9-11; Rs psalm 27: 1.4.13-14; Luke 4: 31-37.DO NOT GIVE SPACE TO SATAN The title for our meditation today is: Do Not GiveSpace to Satan. There is an office worker named Andi who works in the financedepartment. He often faces the temptation to "play numbers" forpersonal gain. Satan always whisper: "No one will know. Just a little. With that money you can be happier." There are even friends who suggest it as somethingordinary. However, Andi remembers that his work is a blessing from God andevery money he manages is a deposit. He always prays: "Lord, keep me fromfalling into this temptation. It is better for me to live a simple but cleanlife, than to live a luxurious life with a dirty heart." The prayer giveshim the strength to remain honest. Some time later, a case of misappropriation of fundsin his office was revealed, and several of his colleagues were exposed to legalproblems. Andi was praised for choosing the path of truth from the beginning. In fact, his honesty made him trusted by the leadership and got a promotion. From this story we see that the power of God that lives in man is able toovercome Satan's temptations, even protecting man from destruction. The actionsof Jesus recounted in today's Gospel very clearly show that. People often do not realize that their lives are in aspiritual war. Satan tries to get in through the little gaps that we leaveopen: unbridled anger, pride that is allowed to grow, or greed that is not challenged. He seeks space and time to deceive man, weakening man and slowly moving awayfrom God. Therefore, we are called to be on the watch, not giving Satan theslightest opportunity to rule in our lives. However, God does not let man struggle alone. He givesthe Holy Spirit the power that enables us to resist all of Satan's deceptions.God's word becomes a sword, prayer becomes a fortress, and faith becomes asolid shield. Although Satan is numerous, they are no match for God's power.Just as the light that drives away darkness, so the presence of God in man isable to drive away Satan who tries to enslave us. This life is not to get lost and submit to Satan'spower, but for God and His glory. We are created to walk in the light, to bewitnesses of love and truth, and to radiate the glory of God in all that we do.When we are aware of the purpose of this life, we will not easily fall into thetrap of sin. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus, strengthen us with Your power so that we can defeat Satan in all our lifesituations. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Inthe name of the Father ...

Delivered by Ariel from the Parish of Saint Albert the Great in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. 1 Thessalonians 2: 1-8; Rs psalm 139: 1-3.4-6; Matthew 23: 23-26.THE BALANCE OF OFFERING AND LOVE The title for our meditation today is: Balance ofOffering and Love. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because they were verymeticulous in tithing everything, even the smallest things, but forgot the farmore important things, namely justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Their behaviorshows that outward worship can be empty if it is not accompanied by the rightattitude of heart. They are more concerned with what appears to the humaneye than with what is pleasing to God. This rebuke of Jesus is also relevantfor us today, so that we do not get caught up in godliness that is only theouter skin. If a person prioritizes good name, honor, and praiseover justice and love for others, then the consequences can be fatal. First, the relationship with God becomes superficial because prayer and offerings areonly used as masks. Second, relationships with others are damaged becausecompassion is not present in real action. Third, hypocrisy is born, where only pseudo-kindnessis shown, even though the heart is filled with selfishness. Finally, all ofthis gives birth to social injustice and indifference to the suffering ofothers. As Christians, we are called to live a balance betweenworship of God and concern for others. Offerings of prayer and thanksgiving areimportant expressions of faith, yet they should not separate us from the callto be merciful, just, and faithful in our daily actions. Without love andjustice, our prayers are just empty words. On the contrary, without prayer, ouracts of love can lose their direction and become mere human morality. That balance is realized when our prayers flow intotangible actions. When we pray, we are invited to realize God's unconditionallove, and then pass it on to others who are suffering. When we give thanks forGod's blessings, we are invited to share with those in need. Whenever wecelebrate faith, it should foster faithfulness to stand up for the weak, upholdjustice, and show compassion. Let us, then, as followers of Christ, not only bediligent in prayer and offering, but also be witnesses of love in our dailylives. True godliness is not only measured by how many prayers we offer orofferings, but by the extent to which the prayer becomes real concern. Thus, weare not trapped like the Pharisees whom Jesus rebuked, but rather becomechildren of God who live in love, justice, and faithfulness. Let us pray. In the name of the Father ... O merciful God,strengthen us in faith with a balance between our prayers, praise, ourgratitude to You and our acts of love for others. Hail Mary full of grace... Inthe name of the Father...
Fancy Scientist: A Material Girl Living in a Sustainable World
Today's podcast episode idea was inspired by an incredible success that I recently discovered from one of my students that I know you'll be interested in. This episode is highly relevant if you want to go into wildlife careers, especially graduate school, but the lessons that you'll learn from my student's experience apply to ANY situation. You'll learn a winning process that I regularly use with my students that will get you results. In her case, it was an extremely prestigious grant that enabled her to go to basically any graduate school in the US!You see, I was recently on LinkedIn and happened to notice that one of my former students, Camilla Price, is now going to graduate school. I was so excited for her and ready to congratulate her, when I noticed something even more exciting: that she was the recipient of a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP) grant. But even more exciting than this…she was the recipient after applying to the grant just one time and without having an established advisor to work with. Keep reading to understand why this is such a big deal…The NSF GRFP grant is a super competitive grant and a HUGE honor. I've known people who've received the grant and I was even awarded an honorable mention myself when I applied, but I didn't know anyone who got it BEFORE they started working with an advisor in graduate school, meaning that they did it all on their own!I cannot emphasize enough what a big deal this is for aspiring students wanting to go to graduate school: if you get it, you can go pretty much wherever you want for graduate school. You have your choice! This NSF grant provides all of your funding and a lack of funding is one of the biggest reasons why so many people seeking to go to graduate school can't get in. They approach potential graduate advisors and even if the advisors are interested in having another student, if they don't have the funding, then they can't take on that student for a Master's or Ph.D. This was a problem that Camilla was facing.I was so excited for Camilla – the last we had talked, Camilla had been trying to get into graduate school for a year or more. And I was super intrigued by how she went about writing the NSF GRFP. When I wrote my grant applications, I knew the advisor I would be working with and I had a specific Ph.D. project in mind. Without having a specific advisor to work with and therefore a lab and research area to focus on, how did she know what to write about? How did she do this all on her own? Without the help of an advisor to give her feedback and guidance? After extending my congratulations to Camilla, I knew I had to invite her to be on the podcast so that we could all share her success and learn the process that she took to gain this great honor. So many of my followers and students are interested in going to graduate school, and when you listen to Camilla's tips and tricks, you'll learn a ton from this episode. Even if you're not ready to go to graduate school, if you're looking to get into a wildlife career, you're going to benefit a lot. And if you're not interested in wildlife careers, that's okay too – there's still so much you can learn from Camilla's approach to receiving this grant. The strategy that she used is something that I teach in my Successful Wildlife Professional Program: start with the end in mind and work backwards.Tune in and hear about the strategies Camilla used in order to pick the graduate school of her dreams, and learn about how she settled upon the University of Colorado and chose to study wolverines. Along with Camilla's advice, I offer some additional tips and key takeaways to really solidify those points, no matter where you are in your career and what you're going for. These tips work!Specifically, I go over:Camilla's journey as an early-career professionalWhat the the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program is and why you should apply before you go to graduate school and even when you get inThe components of a NSF GRFP proposal and what it's like to write oneCamilla's entire process for creating her research proposal: from concept to submittingStrategies for creating a strong proposalThe importance of networking and how Camilla used it to help her write the strongest proposal possibleThe difference between Broader Impacts and Intellectual Merit: what they are and why they are important in all NSF proposalsand MORE!Dream of being a wildlife biologist, zoologist, conservation biologist, or ecologist? Ready to turn your love of animals into a thriving career?
Domaine Vincey is one of Champagne's most exciting andprogressive grower-producers, known for its bold vision, meticulous craftsmanship, and deep respect for terroir. In Champagne, where generational legacies are sometimescenturies old, setting down one's own path can mean writing not only a chapter, but a whole new book. Today we're going to learn more about the impressive husband and wife team doing exactly this in the grand cru village of Oger in Champagne's Cote des BlancsQuentin Vincey and Marine Zabarino are the impressive, ifnot radical, growers making incredibly good champagnes, which get better with every release. They are fearless pioneers in a village where most of the producers are attached to just two local cooperatives. Quentin is the domaine's eighth-generation winegrower. Inthe 12 years following wine school, he took the rein of the family's vineyards, grew their holdings, commenced organic and biodynamic conversion and shifted the business model to make wines under their own label. Quentin and Marine released their first champagne from the2014 harvest - a 100 percent Oger blanc de blancs made from old vines dating back to 1954. Just 11 years later, they have become one of the most interesting and acclaimed winegrowers championing the uniqueness of Oger's terroir within a delicious, generous and Burgundian style. Today I am going to talk to Marine Zabarino about theirDomaine and have my first taste of the new release Oger 2020.

Delivered by Stella Wijaya from the Parish of Sacred Heart of Jesus Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Makassar, Indonesia. Joshua 24: 1-13; Rs psalm 136: 1-3.16-18.21-22.24; Matthew 19: 3-12.HARDNESS OF HEART The title for our meditation today is:Hardness of Heart. Infidelity is the most frightening enemy of a husband andhis wife as the valid and sacred couple. A young man and woman who are in theirintimate relationship also view infidelity as a scary ghost who threatens theirbeautiful days together. They have an ideal desire, that even the slightestsign and a small act of infidelity must not exist. They are very resistant whenone or each of them has another choice. In broad sense, infidelity can be seenas a change of choice illegally or that does not respect the due process andgood manners. A priest or religious person is considered lying and unfaithfulbecause he lives in a style which not showing him as a priest or religious. Abusinessman secretly negotiates with certain investor without first discussingit with his business partners, he is certainly considered having an affairwhich is illegal. In friendship, the act of moving out or change to anothergroup wothout saying goodbyes or telling nicely, is also seen as having anaffair. Moses said in the scriptures that themain cause of infidelity is the hardness of the heart. Hardness is the same asdisobedience, disloyalty, stubbornness, indulgence, arrogant, and havingworldly spirit. This became part of Joshua's advice when he was about to die, that obedience and loyalty to God is absolute, so that people will be saved andlive peacefully with God. Whereas, if there is only hardness of heart, disasterwill be the answer. The hardness of the heart can befought and overcome with some helpful ways, as remarked in today's readings. The Book of Joshua speaks of the spirit to live with our good and noblememories. We have memoria of lifehistory that includes people who are our examples and who have sacrificed theirlives for us. There are past experiences that really educate and help us toprogress and develop. We should make them alive in order to prevent us frombeing inclined to hardness of heart and brings us into the sin of infidelity. We are also asked to hold firmly toour originality or authenticity which is as God's creation, with the mostessential gift to each one of us that is to determine our choices with freedom. With this freedom, a person must be respected for his life partner's choice, likewise if he does not choose a life partner based on a strong and acceptablereason. The freedom to make this choice is limited by the demands of obedienceand loyalty from the one who has already the choice. This is very important tobe fulfilled so that the infidelity can be prevented and eliminated. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Lord Jesus, strengthen ourchoice of heart in all of your teachings about faithfulness. Hail Mary ... Inthe name of the Father...
This week's episode is a love letter to one of the riskiest, most liberating beliefs I've ever adopted: It is safe to rely on the generosity and honesty of strangers.I'm sharing the story of how buying a quirky little car on eBay completely rewired how I move through life as a divorced woman, single parent, and human navigating the daily grind. We'll talk about:How divorce and betrayal shrink your “trust radius”Why suspicion feels safe but is actually a prisonWhat Diana Chapman's world as an ally philosophy has to do with your ex-husbandThe nervous system's role in rebuilding trust (and why your body has to go first)“Trust push-ups”: small, safe ways to start letting people inThe surprising science behind why letting others help you is a gift to themHow to hold both trust and strong boundaries without apologyYou'll also hear how I've reframed my ex as one of my greatest teachers, why I keep choosing to extend the benefit of the doubt, and how this belief has made me lighter, freer, and more powerful in my own life.Your challenge this week: spot three moments a day when someone offers you help, kindness, or honesty—and see how it feels to let the world prove you right.Because trusting strangers isn't about being naïve. It's about deciding you're strong enough to handle whatever comes… and opening your life to a whole lot more good in the process.PostDivorceGlowUp.comEmail: quinn@postdivorceglowup.com

Last evening I was in Roanoke, Virginia, at the GoCenter. You can learn more about the Go Center at: https://www.gpartners.org/gocenter Iwas called to ministry in April 1971, on in a Sunday night service at LandmarkBaptist Temple in Cincinnati Ohio under a missionary named Bob Hughes. Withina few weeks of that night I heard that Thomas Road Baptist Church was startinga brand-new Bible college called Lynchburg Baptist College, I registeredimmediately and went there with my heart set on going to Africa to share thegospel. Yet during school, I was able to be part of a church plant inWinchester, Virginia, Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church. After graduating Godthen called me to be the pastor of that church. I never really got to be thatmissionary who went full-time to the mission field. Ibegan to realize that the Lord left me in America as a pastor to mobilize, influence, and send as many people as we can. And raise as money as I could formissions. Now with that background justrecently as we studied through the Gospel of Luke, we found that God gives theGreat Commission to His disciples to preach the gospel to all the nations, topreach the good news, the message of the kingdom that Jesus saves. The Gospelof Luke seems to be all about what Jesus said in Luke 19:10, "For theSon of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." Asyou read through the gospels, every one of them ends with a reference to theGreat Commission. In John's gospel, Jesus said, "As the Father has sentMe, even so send I you." That was the commission to those disciples: Justas Jesus was sent as the Son of God to seek and save the lost we are to also tobe bringing this good news to a lost world around us. Over these past 50-plusyears of ministry, by God's grace we have been able to influence hundreds, maybe thousands of believers to love Jesus, to pray for missions, to go to theforeign field, and to give to missions. We've watched God do awesome things. I'minvolved in a ministry right now in India where we have 600 pastors I'mdirectly connected to. I went there in January of this year and took an individualpicture of 400 of them. I also got a bio of them at that time that I have onhand. It gives their name, their place of ministry, and how many churches theyare pastoring. I'm asking people like you to partner with me to pray for theseprecious pastors. Would you take one of these pastors into your heart? Inthe video I made of today, I'm standing in front of pictures of unreachedpeople groups in the world. I understand right now there are 3.4 billion peoplewho have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many of the pastorsI'm working with are ministering among the Koya people, the Banjari people, theChenchu people on the east side of India, and they are reaching these unreachedpeople groups with the gospel of Christ. But besides them are many otherpastors reaching many other people groups with the gospel of Christ. They desperatelyneed our prayers. Of course, they need money, and I'll talk about that in mychat tomorrow. But right now, I'm asking for prayer partners. Would you bewilling to join me as a prayer partner for one of these pastors? I will sendyou his name, his location, how many churches he's pastoring, the names of hisfamily members, and you can pray specifically for him and his ministry, and youcan join with me in impacting many lives for Christ. Ifyou feel that the Lord is leading you to join me in this prayer effort pleasesend me your name and email address to pastormike@pmiministries.org andI'll get back in touch with you. I beg you, I plead with you, join me as aprayer partner. I already have 100 people who have already joined with me topray for these 400 pastors. I just need another 300 prayer partners right now.I trust you'll be one of those 300 that will join me. We should all be a partof fulfilling the Great Commission.

It walks like a war and quacks like a war … it's a WAR!And it requires an act of congress to declare it.As Congressman Tom Massie accurately stated Twitter:“When two countries are bombing each other daily in a hot war, and a third country joins the bombing, that's an act of war. I'm amazed at the mental gymnastics being undertaken by neocons in DC (and their social media bots) to say we aren't at war… so they can make war.”Today we welcome international, independent analyst Michael Yon to discuss the impact of this escalation and what it could mean for average Americans.Wars and rumors of wars wreak havoc on markets and economic development and can even lead to complete financial collapse and a currency RESET which benefits only the 1%. Today,as we look at Luke chapter 22, we need to remember the setting behind thischapter, focusing on what was happening in Jerusalem during the week ofPassover, what we call Passion Week. Therewas tremendous excitement this week in Jerusalem as the Passover was takingplace. Over 100,000, perhaps 300,000 or more, Jewish pilgrims had come to thecity. They had been looking for the Messiah for centuries and were expectingthat Jesus, who performed miracles and proclaimed Himself to be the Messiah, might be the one. John the Baptist had proclaimed that He was the Messiah, andmany had repented and followed John. After John the Baptist was killed, Jesuscontinued His ministry of teaching the people, proclaiming the message of theKingdom, healing people and doing miracles, for a total period of three and ahalf years. Jesus Christ was now back in Jerusalem during this week forPassover Week knowing He would be sacrificed as the Lamb of God to take awayour sins. TheJews were excited, but the Romans were scared and worried, thinking this mightbe a time for an uprising. This is likely why Pilate and Herod were both inJerusalem, though Herod would normally be at Caesarea in his palace, and Pilatewould be relaxing in Tiberias. As Roman rulers over Jerusalem and the Jews atthe time, they were present, knowing there could be a riot or uprising. Theywere responsible to Rome to keep peace in the land. As you can imagine, it wasa very electric time. Inthe first six verses, Judas went to the chief priest, elders, scribes,Pharisees, and religious leaders, making a deal to betray Jesus secretly. Theywere afraid that an open betrayal would cause issues with the people, and theyknew the Romans needed to be involved to make it appear as though the Romans, not the religious leaders, were responsible for putting Christ to death. Thereligious leaders were already struggling with their integrity andaccountability, especially since Jesus had publicly called them hypocrites. “Thencame the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb must be killed” (v 7). We believe this day wasThursday, as the Jewish day begins in the evening. (The evening of this daywould have been considered Friday, the day the Passover Lamb would be killed, and the same day Jesus would be crucified.) Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Goand prepare the Passover for us that we may eat." Jesus already knewwho Judas was. He knew from the beginning that Judas was a thief and wouldbetray Him. Jesus knew Judas had already gone to the chief priest and betrayedHim, and He knew a plot was underway to have Him crucified. He knew becausethat's why He came to Jerusalem; He knew what awaited Him there. So,He sent Peter and John secretly, because if Judas knew, he might have hadpeople come to arrest Jesus in the upper room. Only Peter and John knew theplan. When they asked Him where to prepare, He said, "Behold, whenyou've entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water;follow him into the house where he enters." This was unusual becausemen typically didn't carry pitchers of water; women did. Seeing a man with apitcher would stand out, signaling, "That's the guy." He must havebeen a believer. They were to say to the master of the house, "TheTeacher says to you, 'Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover withMy disciples?'" This man, likely a believer already preparing for thePassover, would show them a large, furnished upper room. They went and found itjust as He had said and prepared the Passover. Peterand John purchased the Passover lamb, took it to the chief priests, had itsacrificed and roasted, and waited in the upper room on Thursday evening forJesus and the rest of the disciples to come. Jesus knew what was going on, yetHe still gave His life as a ransom for you and me. Oh, what a Savior! What aSavior!Godbless!

I think it is interesting that thischapter begins with a question by the priests, the scribes, and the elders. They asked Jesus by what authority did He cleanse the Temple and was teachingthe people. Then the chapter ends in these last verses with Jesus asking them aquestion. Whilethe priests, scribes, and elders were still gathered together, Jesus asked thema final question: "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son isHe?" (Matt. 22:41-42, NKJV) This is the key question for everygeneration and each individual, for our salvation and eternal destiny aredependent on what we think about Christ and how we answer this question. (1John 2:21-25; 4:1-6; 5:1). Ofcourse, these religious leaders knew the expected reply: The Christ, theMessiah is "The Son of David." They based this on such verses as 2Samuel 7:13-14; Isaiah 11:1; and Jeremiah 23:5. God had ordained that theMessiah should come from the family of David and be born in David's city,Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). Jesusthen referred them to Psalm 110, which is quoted in the New Testament more thanany other psalm. The Jewish religious leaders in that day identified Psalm 110as a prophetic psalm and said that David was speaking of the Messiah. But ifthe Messiah is David's Lord, how can He be David's son? The only explanation isthat Messiah must be both God and man. As eternal God, Messiah is David's Lord, but as man, He is David's son (Romans 1:3; 9:4-5; Acts 2:32-36; 13:22-23). OnPalm Sunday, the multitudes had acclaimed Jesus as the Son of David, and He hadnot rebuked them (Matt. 21:9; Mark 11:10). By applying Psalm 110:1 to Himself,Jesus claimed to be Israel's promised Messiah, the Son of God. Then why did thePharisees not believe in Him? Because their minds were made up, their heartswere hardened, and their eyes were blind (John 12:37-50). They did not have thecourage to confess the truth, and they persecuted those who did affirm faith inJesus Christ. And it was out of envy and jealousy that they delivered Jesus upto Pilate to be crucified (Matthew 27:18; Mark 15:10). Christ's questionsilenced His enemies (Matthew 22:46) and ended their public challenges, butthey would not admit defeat. Inthe last verses, 45-47, Jesus warned the people about the hypocrisy anddishonesty of the scribes and Pharisees (see Matthew 23). Men see the outside, but God sees the heart (1 Samuel 16:7; Hebrews 4:12). These religious leadersdid not desire personal holiness; they wanted public recognition. Therefore, they wore special garments, expected special titles and greetings, and lookedfor special seats at public gatherings. Thereis a double tragedy here. First of all, their deliberate hypocrisy was only acover-up that enabled them to fool people and exploit them. Of all rackets, religious rackets are the worst. The religious leaders had turned the temple ofGod into a den of thieves and religious devotion into playacting. The generalpublic actually thought that their leaders were godly men, when in reality theywere defiling and destroying souls (Matt. 23:13-36). Thesecond tragedy is that they rejected their own Messiah and voted to crucifyHim. They led the nation into ruin because they would not admit their sins andconfess Jesus Christ. Keep in mind that these men were "experts" inthe Bible, yet they did not apply its truths to their own lives. Their religionwas a matter of external observance, not internal transformation. How sad it isthat we see so much the same in many of our churches and religious institutionstoday. Atthis point, according to Matthew (Matthew 23:37-39), Jesus once again uttered alamentation over the blind unbelief of the nation and their unwillingness totrust in Him. He had given them many opportunities, but they had wasted them. Now it was too late. Andone day it will be too late for us if we don't repent!

Inthe first 10 verses of Luke 19, we meet Jesus as the Savior who seeks the lostand we have the story of Zacchaeus, the rich tax collector who comes to faithand salvation through Jesus Christ. Then, in verse 11, we meet the master whorewards faithful servants. My friend, that's who Jesus is. He is the Savior, but he's also the master who expects us to be faithful servants. Itsays in verse 11, "Now as they heard these things, he spoke anotherparable because he was near Jerusalem and because they thought that the kingdomof God would appear immediately." Jesus is at the end of His three anda half years of earthly ministry. He's on his way to Jerusalem with hisdisciples, preaching, sharing, doing miracles, and healing people. He knowsthat He's going to be crucified, but the disciples and many others believe He isgoing to Jerusalem to set up his kingdom. Atthat time in the Jewish world, there were subversive groups like the Zealotswho used commando tactics against Rome. There were also the Herodians, Jewishpoliticians who compromised their faith to rule with the Romans over the Jewishpeople in the land of Israel. Then, you had the common people, the majority, who were looking for the fulfilment of the Old Testament prophecies for theMessiah, the King to come and set up His kingdom. That'swhy this verse says that as Jesus neared Jerusalem, He told this parablebecause they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. They werethinking Jesus is this possible king, the Prophet prophesied in the OldTestament, the Messiah who's come to give us a deliverer. This was at the timeof Passover, and people were flooding into Jerusalem by the thousands. Theywere looking for a deliverer, just like the Passover represented beingdelivered out of Egypt when God gave them a deliverer, Moses. Now they believedthat one like Moses would come and deliver them from the Roman rule. Theythought Jesus was that deliverer. Jesusthen tells them this story, beginning in verse 12, about “a certain noblemanwho went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. Hecalled 10 of his servants, delivered to them 10 minas, and said to them,"Do business till I come." But his citizens hated him and sent adelegation after him, saying, "We will not have this man to reign overus." When he returned, having received the kingdom, he commanded theseservants to whom he had given the money to be called to him that he might knowhow much every man had gained by trading.” Jesusis presenting a picture here. It's interesting that there were 10 servants towhom he gave 10 minas, money. In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable ofthe talents, and the master giving different amounts,5 to one, two to another, and one to one, to three servants. That was a picture of the gifts God giveseach of us to serve Him, and how we use those gifts will be held accountable. But here, he gave the same amount of money to ten servants and then tells howat least three of them were held accountable. We believe the application isthat Jesus gave the Word of God to all His followers today to share witheveryone we can, and we're going to be held accountable for it. Thelesson here is that God expects us to be faithful with whatever He gives us,and He will hold us accountable for our faithfulness and obedience with thegifts and the Word of God that we're to share with those around us. May theLord help us to learn this lesson well. Itrust you will use the Spiritual gifts that God's blessed you with and also sharethe Word of God with whoever crosses your path today.

This week, we dive headfirst into the very timely topic of expating. Is it just a fantasy fueled by tough times or is there something deeper driving this urge to GTFO? In this episode, we're exploring the layers of this question. We break down the different flavors of expating, from slow travel hacks that let you vibe abroad for a few months with zero paperwork (hello, Schengen Zone!) to the allure of Digital Nomad Visas for those of us who can work from anywhere with Wi-Fi and a decent latte. We even get into the semi-permanent options and, for the truly committed, buying your way into citizenship.Ultimately, this episode isn't about escapism. It's about options, feasibility, and the very real trade-offs you need to consider when contemplating a life lived beyond your current borders. We discuss:The rise of "Plan B" thinking in the FIRE community and beyondTourist stays and slow travel: Easy ways to get your feet wet abroadDigital Nomad Visas (DNVs): Working remotely from paradise (with a minimum income requirement, naturally)Extended visas and residency pathways: Semi-permanent solutions for a longer stayNaturalization and citizenship: The full commitment, from marriage to ancestry to buying your way inThe "Split Life" Model: Six months here, six months there (the best of both worlds?)The real costs and considerations: Taxes, paperwork, culture shock, currency risks, and that annoying "ideological accent" you didn't even know you had.Our rule of thumb for financial feasibility: Is it really worth it?And if you know someone who's made the leap (or is seriously contemplating it), drop us a comment below!
