In this episode, I sit down with Carla. She's been around the BBM community for years- watching the posts, listening to the podcast, cheering others on, but not fully in. As a single mom working two jobs, she didn't have the capacity to put herself first. And I never pushed her. But I always knew that when she was ready, she'd show up fully. That shift happened recently, not from guilt or pressure, but from a deep desire to change her future.Carla talks about what finally clicked and how she's made her fitness a non-negotiable part of her life. From building a home gym to involving her kids, she's now leading by example and the ripple effect is obvious: better sleep, more energy, stronger relationships, and a new sense of self-respect.We talk about:What finally flipped the switch after years of being “around but not in”The impact of working out at night (and why it helps her sleep better)How her son's training and her daughter's curiosity are changing the home dynamicWhy slow, steady progress works better than crash diets or shortcutsWhat it feels like to see yourself changing- in the mirror and in your lifeIf you've been telling yourself you'll start when life calms down or you've been in the orbit of this work but haven't stepped in yet, this conversation is for you.And if you'd like to talk about how I can support you, book a free consultation here:

Katie Watson is a full-time legal professional and single mom who didn't wait for life to slow down before figuring out how to make it work. She joins Corinne Morahan to share the systems that help her manage a high-pressure job while raising her two-year-old son. From choosing a daycare that handles meals and extended hours to building habits that keep her home running smoothly, Katie shares what it looks like to design a life that feels doable. She gets into the small, unglamorous choices that add up over time, like using five quiet minutes to unpack a box instead of scrolling, or carving out a nightly hour to reset her space before the next day begins. She also opens up about the mindset work that keeps her grounded, including how she navigates anxiety and why having a strong support system matters. What would shift if you approached your personal life with the same thoughtfulness you bring to work? And what kind of ease might be possible if you let support be part of the plan? At Hope Bridge, two of our biggest priorities are supporting single moms and engaging the local church. But bringing those two things together isn't always simple. In this episode, we're discussing a sensitive but important topic: church hurt—specifically, how it affects single moms. This conversation is not meant to overgeneralize or place blame. We are incredibly grateful for the many churches we partner with that do amazing work to support families. At the same time, we also want to honor the stories of single moms who have felt excluded from ministries, overlooked for leadership, or disconnected from small groups. Sometimes, the hurt comes through unsolicited advice that, while well-intended, causes pain. Other times, it's not about what's said—but what isn't. The absence of acknowledgment or representation can leave single moms feeling invisible.God created us for community. Even when that community has caused hurt, the need for connection remains. We talk about the importance of continuing to seek out healthy church spaces, even after past wounds. Sometimes, God meets us most powerfully outside of a traditional church setting—but we have to be seeking Him. Church is meant to be a place of restoration, hope, and belonging. In this conversation, we explore how we can help the Church reflect that vision more fully—especially for single moms.Episode Highlights: Single Moms Church Hurt Church Community How to pursue healing Single Moms Program at Hope Bridge Find More on Hope Bridge:Check out our Single Moms Program July Empower U Registration Schedule Coffee with Mel!Link for Friendly Faces/Spiritual DevelopmentSingle Mom Connection Form Visit Our Website Follow us on InstagramFollow us on Facebook Foster Our Community Instagram

Your story is powerful. As you yield your story to God, He can use it for your good and for His glory. In this message, Amanda Jackson shares her story of a Father's love. She shares about struggles, failures, and victories in life. She loved Jesus and was drawn to Him in prayer from a young age. As a young adult, she realized that the leadership of her church did not value her. She struggled with feeling judged. As she waited for things she prayed for, she began to doubt God's timing. She wanted a husband and a family. She began to trust more in her plans than in yielding to the Lord. The Lord reminded her: "You are not the exception to the rule."There is redemption after sin.The Lord wants you to know that He loves you. First, you are His child. He is your loving Father. Amanda shares her beautiful story of a Father's love and redemption. God makes all things new. Faith is not transactional, it is about a relationship with Jesus. Jesus said, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father."Marriage and singleness are both gifts from God. Marriage is not a prize to be obtained, and singleness is not a prison to break free from. Here is the truth:"I am loved and valued""I forgive others""I walk in who the Father says that I am... His beloved daughter and now I am strengthening others."Are you surrendering every part of your life to Jesus and embracing the love of the Father?

Hey friends—Carla here! This week on So What Now?, Dex and I sat down with the fierce and inspiring Jena Mehlberg—entrepreneur, mama, survivor, and all-around powerhouse in the beauty world. Jena took us on a real ride through some of the toughest chapters of her life—becoming a single mom in her teens, losing a parent, navigating an emotionally abusive relationship, and the ups and downs of running her own business. And y'all, the way she speaks about resilience and faith? You feel it in your bones. She talks about the importance of existing outside yourself and not letting isolation pull you under, especially in the hardest seasons. One thing that really stuck with me—Jena opened up about her mom, a woman who moved through the world like rules just didn't apply to her. That “ask forgiveness later” attitude? It gave Jena permission to live boldly and never wait for someone else to give her the green light. Then we shifted gears and got real about raising boys. As two single moms of sons, Jena and I got into it: How do we raise emotionally healthy men in a world that often doesn't teach them how to feel? What message are we sending if we keep choosing partners who don't show up emotionally? Dex jumped in too, and we unpacked the tension between wanting to protect our kids from life's mistakes… and knowing we can't. Y'all, if you've ever wondered whether you're doing enough—or how to keep going when life knocks you down—this one's for you.

Send us a textWhen Debbie accepted messages from a man who found her through a tagged Instagram post, she couldn't have predicted the 18-month nightmare that would follow. Her story reveals how narcissistic abuse escalates from subtle control tactics to full-blown emotional and physical violence. The warning signs appeared immediately – aggressive physical behavior on their first meeting, possessive comments, and attempts to control her movements – but, like many victims, Debbie dismissed them hoping things would improve. Instead, her partner isolated her from friends, controlled her clothing, monitored her whereabouts, and subjected her to relentless accusations of infidelity while he was the one being unfaithful. The physical abuse escalated too. What makes this episode particularly powerful is Debbie's candid reflection on her healing journey. After finding the courage to publicly share her story, seven other women came forward with similar experiences with the same man. Her crucial advice to listeners: don't ignore the first red flags, because abusive behavior only escalates with time.Have you noticed controlling behaviors in your relationships? What red flags have you overlooked hoping things would improve? Listen to this vital conversation and share it with someone who might need to hear that they're not alone in their experiences.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launHave you ever wanted to start your own podcast?
