Hello to all you Chimps, gorillas, orangutans, Underdwellers, and you Mego Collectors! The ape fan community went crazy with the recent news that Mego will start releasing new Planet of the Apes figures starting in April with Dr. Zaius and Cornelious. We spoke with Paul ‘Mr. Mego’ Clarke of EMCE Toys who gives us insight as to what is coming up with the new Mego Planet of the Apes line (even some hints toward future releases). We talk about Paul’s career in the toy industry, our favorite figures growing up, and the psychological effect of collecting Mego. You will hear Richard have an actual breakthrough! They don’t call Paul Dr. Mego for nothing! Richard and Kevin also fantasize about the Ape figures, and other pop culture icons, they would love to see in their collection in the future. They also run down the list of the figures that are coming out in wave 12 such as The Rocketeer, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Stan Lee Web Hand Edition, Igor from Young Frankenstein Igor, the Star Trek Salt Vampire, and more! Happy Holidays Ape Fans! Have we got a show for you! We are taking our customary break from reviewing an episode of the animated series, Return To The Planet Of The Apes, to talk with some special guests. On January 24, 2017, Titan Books will release the anthology book, Planet of the Apes: Tales From The Forbidden Zone based on the characters and situations from the classic era. On this episode we will be talking with co-editors and story contributors Rich Handley and Jim Beard. These high-energy guests tell us about the making of the book, what authors were chosen and which writers were interested but couldn't fit it into their busy schedules (no spoilers but one of these writers has written science fiction/fantasy films based a long time ago in a galaxy far far away). They even hint at whether or not any of the authors had written a story based on the mystery of Urko's helmet! We also talk with John Jackson Miller, an author who has played in many of our beloved universes from Star Wars, Star Trek and Halo. He tells us about his story and where it fits in the classic ape era and how he used TV appearances by Ape actors in his plot. He also talks about his new Star Trek and Halo books and graphic novels. We want to thank all the Talking Apes TV listeners who posted questions for Mr. Miller on our Facebook page. He was excited to hear from you! Richard and Mark also talk about the new War For The Planet Of The Apes trailer that was just released. A great discussion for a great new film coming July 14, 2017! https://youtu.be/UEP1Mk6Un98 We hope everyone has an Urkotastic holiday season and now, GO APE! Happy Halloween Ape Fans! In this episode of Talking Apes TV we celebrate this UrkoTastic holiday with stories of how Richard's Galen costume made him cry, we try to figure out how Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute fit into the Monster cereals, and why Vincent Price is giving out Easter seals to trick-or-treaters. We also say goodbye to our dear friend, Gary Dubin who passed away in early October. We had lots of laughs as we dove into the 'was he/was he not' the young gorilla in the original Planet of the Apes film. Whether he was or not, we were lucky enough to meet him at an apes autograph signing last year. He will be deeply missed. Then we dive into the episode Attack from the Clouds. This is the 10 entry in the Return to the Planet of the Apes series which aired November 8, 1975. In this episode we continue with the theme of giant monsters when a a flying dragon creature is seen over Ape City. Urko believes it is his stolen plane being used in a secret plot to overthrow him. The dragon creature moves on and finds a food source in humanoid-land known as New Valley and begins attacking. Meanwhile Bill and Judy go to to locate the stolen plane from a previous episode before Urko before finds it which would spell certain doom. In an effort to save their herd Bill and Judy go out and locate Urko’s stolen plane and use it to to combat the beast! We have lots of fun with this one as we see Urko spiral deeper into his own madness. Listen, enjoy, have a Happy Halloween and, GO APE! Hey Hey Ape Fans! We celebrate our one-year ape-iversary of Talking Apes TV with this special episode of controversy! Richard and Mark give you an update on the Felix Silla/Gary Dubin debate. The little gorilla boy in the original Planet Of The Apes film should've said, "Guess who I am?!" instead of "Look it's a Man!" And if that wasn't enough, there was "Who's that Zira?" controversy. What episode of Return to the Planet of the Apes are we covering this time? If you look at some sources then you would have watched Lagoon of Peril. But if you look at other sources then you watched The Unearthly Prophecy. After taking apart this puzzle, we came to the conclusion that story-wise, The Unearthly Prophecy, would come as the third episode in the series. So that is the one we are covering. THE UNEARTHLY PROPHECY: While escaping from Urko and his soldiers Bill and Jeff find a secret door that leads underground. There they meet - The Underdwellers - cloaked humans with special powers. They also find another surprise from their past! In honor of Halloween and the tradition of giving, podcast composer Rob Dehlinger's new Flintstones inspired jingle, "Yabba Dabba Urko" is a ringtone-treat which can be found at Facebook.com/talkingapestv. And lastly, we think we finally found out how Urko keeps that top-heavy helmet on his head! Listen to the latest episode of Talking Apes TV and find out! Now, Go Ape! Hey Hey Ape Fans! We are back with the introduction to the animated ape series, Return To The Planet Of The Apes! This 1975 series kicked off with the episode Flames of Doom. Flames of Doom starts with three astronauts who are sent on a outer space mission only to return to Earth 2,000 years later. (However we've come to the conclusion that it aired on 12/20/1974). Synopsis: Alan, Pete and Galen encounter a human named Leuric who is experimenting with flight in a hang-glider he has built himself. But when he is captured by Commander Konag and his troops he is ordered to be executed. That is until a female chimpanzee scientist steps in to save him. Hey Hey Ape fans! Welcome back to Talking Apes TV! We are the podcast that takes an entertaining look at each episode of the Planet Of The Apes TV series from 1974 to find out why it still stands up after 40 years. "The Liberator" is the 13th episode of the series and the most controversial because of its subject matter of slavery and atomic bombs. Many sources list this episode as "Unaired" - possibly because it was pre-empted in one or two major markets. However, both CBS-TV records and Neilsen Ratings data testify that it was shown in some areas. In "The Liberator" Alan, Pete and Galen are captured by a village who is forced to give up five human slaves to their ape overlords to work in the mines. The leader of the village sacrifices the unwilling humans to their god in a fatal ceremony. The temple where this is held turns out to be an ancient ruin where a poisonous invisible gas is manufactured. We also reveal the final winners of our Planet Of The Apes TV soundtrack! Thanks once again to LaLa Land Records for donating these CD's. Next week we look at the FINAL episode, "Up Above The World So High." After that we have so many great episodes planned such as Ape interviews with fans, actors and authors as well as starting up the Planet Of The Apes Animated Series. Until then, GO APE! The trio returns to assist, only to find themselves sealed in by a quarantine. Alan and Pete butt heads with Dr. Zoran, a chimpanzee sent by the High Council to experiment on the humans. At the same time, Urko wants to burn the village to the ground, with everyone inside it. We also reveal the two new winners of the Apes CD soundtrack provided by La-La Land Records. Unfortunately we (still) don't get any Pete backstory but we do get Urko backstory. We meet, Aborro, an old academy friend of Urko who may be even more corrupt and evil.
