This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike back on the show as we discuss the 1985 dark comdey After Hours.  In this Marin Scorsese directed love story to the seedier side of New York, an American Werewolf is just trying to get home after a terrible date, but just can't seem to pay his way back.  Apparently in 1985, it was ok to leave the house in NYC with $20 and expect round trip service (and pay for a date too).  This cast is deep, with a lot of up and comers (including Kevin McCallister's parents) and E&N fav Teri Garr.  Scorsese aways mixes laughs into even his hardest dramas, but it's nice to see a straight up comedy from one of the all time greats.  We all had a great time discussing this all-time classic.  Enjoy the podcast!

This is one of those 90s movies that really shouldn't have been made. Lucky for you that it was so bad that we still ended up having plenty to say about it. Mikey had the unfortunate experience of seeing this in the theater, but in 1997 we were really spoiled for choice at the cinema each week. It wouldn't be a true exploration of 90s movies if we didn't talk about the duds from time to time. While I wasn't a fan of this hack job of a script that wasted some talented actors, we at least got a good soundtrack. If you watched that BUSH music video for "Mouth" you basically saw the movie. We talk about how Julie Delpy only did the film to pay for her rent, the awkward performance of Tom Everett Scott, and how Julie Bowen had the best part in the entire film. As impossible as it might seem, until quite recently, Barry had never seen An American Werewolf in London. This week, the Regular Joe's, joined by Tom Spina of Regal Robot, take a look at the 1981 John Landis horror/dark comedy cult classic. Tom shares his first-hand experience with one of the screen used props, and recounts his own meeting with John Landis. Groundbreaking in many ways, the film earned Rick Baker the first ever Academy award for best makeup. In addition to an unforgettable transformation sequence, American Werewolf also has early 80s era Jenny Agutter, and that's never a bad thing. More than 40 years later, the film remains scary and makes for a good Halloween rewatch. There's also the usual random topics, and a round of What's in the Box. Released 16 years after the original, this sequel feels like too little too late, or too much too late? It's hard to tell here because it's kind of both. Through a lot of twists and turns, most of them either nonsensical or uninteresting, we get to meet a gang of werewolves hosting parties for victims, a stepfather who searched for a cure, a tenuous connection to the first one, and ultimately, the last third that is just so 1990s, it almost hurts. It's been a while! We recorded this episode a year ago and are finally getting it out in the world. In this episode of Chick Flicks, McKenzie and Bridget cover American Werewolf in London (1981), a film by John Landis. Known for its inventive practical effects, American Werewolf is often billed as a horror-comedy despite its bummer of a plot. Listen in to help decide what is more realistic, the doomed werewolf David's romance with Nurse Alex Price or the film's famous transformation scene.

At long last, it's Dalton's first solo pitch of Phase Three and the first half of our loose "House of Frankenstein" duology: A Native American Werewolf in Paris! Dalton's all about fulfilling the promise of the premise, so how will they make this story appropriately wolfy, thoroughly Parisian, and respectful towards Gwen's indiginous heritage without overstepping their bounds as a white storyteller? This episode Nez and Brian team up with a trio of extreme American daredevils fight a horde of French werewolf's in the 1997 horror/comedy/mystery film AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS.   A group of carousing American tourists is taking in the cultural landmarks of Paris when a chance encounter results in sightseer Andy McDermott (Tom Everett Scott) saving the life of Parisian Serafine Pigot (Julie Delpy). While on a date at a nightclub with Serafine, Andy is suddenly attacked and bitten by a werewolf. The thing is, it wasn't a bigfoot, it was what I learned everyone is calling a dogman about 7 years ago. At the time I didn't know what it was and thought it was the only one. When the creature was disposed of Dave said "I didn't know what it was, I shot this thing thinking it was the only one. I remember telling the old man who owned most of the property around my house that I shot that thing.
