This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Mike back on the show as we discuss the 1985 dark comdey After Hours.  In this Marin Scorsese directed love story to the seedier side of New York, an American Werewolf is just trying to get home after a terrible date, but just can't seem to pay his way back.  Apparently in 1985, it was ok to leave the house in NYC with $20 and expect round trip service (and pay for a date too).  This cast is deep, with a lot of up and comers (including Kevin McCallister's parents) and E&N fav Teri Garr.  Scorsese aways mixes laughs into even his hardest dramas, but it's nice to see a straight up comedy from one of the all time greats.  We all had a great time discussing this all-time classic.  Enjoy the podcast!

Dogman. The Beast of Bray Road. The American Werewolf. It has many names, but exactly what is it? A bizarre cryptid? A scientific experiment gone wrong? A supernatural being? A demonic entity? A misidentification of a mangy bear, or even Bigfoot? Many people claim to have seen the Dogman across North America, but accounts vary wildly, from a larger-than-normal wolf, to a humanoid biped with the head of a dog. This week I take a look at some historical accounts of the creature, as well as more contemporary encounters with this strange legend. In this episode of the WN Movie Talk Podcast, we take a closer look at Hollywood's enduring obsession with remakes, reboots, and revivals. Why do some projects, like Mission: Impossible, thrive while others, such as RoboCop and An American Werewolf in Paris, fail to recapture the magic of their originals? We'll explore the history of the remake, the catalysts for each new wave of remake, the creative challenges of reimagining iconic films and analyse what happens when these efforts miss the mark. From David Fincher, The Coen Brothers, Martin Scorsese and James Cameron, we discuss how top-tier directors approach remakes and why even their best efforts can sometimes falter. We also dig into the comedic missteps of Blues Brothers 2000, the nostalgic success of Beetlejuice 2, and the differences between adaptation and homage in films like William Friedkin's Sorcerer.Whether it's the long-running success of Mission: Impossible, or the reasons behind the failures of films like Poltergeist and The Hitcher, this episode is packed with insights, trivia, and plenty of movie nostalgia. If you've ever wondered what makes a great remake—or why some seem doomed from the start—this episode is for you. This is one of those 90s movies that really shouldn't have been made. Lucky for you that it was so bad that we still ended up having plenty to say about it. Mikey had the unfortunate experience of seeing this in the theater, but in 1997 we were really spoiled for choice at the cinema each week. It wouldn't be a true exploration of 90s movies if we didn't talk about the duds from time to time. While I wasn't a fan of this hack job of a script that wasted some talented actors, we at least got a good soundtrack. If you watched that BUSH music video for "Mouth" you basically saw the movie. We talk about how Julie Delpy only did the film to pay for her rent, the awkward performance of Tom Everett Scott, and how Julie Bowen had the best part in the entire film. At long last, it's Dalton's first solo pitch of Phase Three and the first half of our loose "House of Frankenstein" duology: A Native American Werewolf in Paris! Dalton's all about fulfilling the promise of the premise, so how will they make this story appropriately wolfy, thoroughly Parisian, and respectful towards Gwen's indiginous heritage without overstepping their bounds as a white storyteller? For one thing, Dalton has curated a playlist of songs from Native artists that would be included on the soundtrack, which you can listen to on Apple Music or Spotify. (Don't try to play it overtop of the episode, though - Dylan scored over all of those sections with music evoking the vibes of the suggested songs.) How will Gwen's story play out now that it's in the hands of a different co-host? What kind of traps or trampolines will Dalton lay out for Dylan to use when he picks up the "House of Frankenstein" story in The Hunchback of Notre Dame? Only one way to find out. This episode Nez and Brian team up with a trio of extreme American daredevils fight a horde of French werewolf's in the 1997 horror/comedy/mystery film AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS.   A group of carousing American tourists is taking in the cultural landmarks of Paris when a chance encounter results in sightseer Andy McDermott (Tom Everett Scott) saving the life of Parisian Serafine Pigot (Julie Delpy). While on a date at a nightclub with Serafine, Andy is suddenly attacked and bitten by a werewolf. The next day he discovers that Serafine is also a lycanthrope, and that he is beginning his own grueling, hirsute transformation into one of the fanged beasts.   Hit up E Society on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/ESocietyPodcast/ Check out our ESP Spotify For Podcasters feed: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/esoc E Society YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCliC6x_a7p3kTV_0LC4S10A E Society and Mac-Nez t-shirts Tee Public: http://tee.pub/lic/9ko9r4p5uvE X: @esocietypod @macnezpod @TheoZissou Instagram: @esocietypod @thezissou @macnezpod Nez and Taylor Blu-ray IG pages: @bluraynez @blurayterror TikTok: @esocietypod

Tonight I will be speaking to Dave. Dave writes "I'm 57 years old and my first encounter was when I was 16 years old. The thing is, it wasn't a bigfoot, it was what I learned everyone is calling a dogman about 7 years ago. At the time I didn't know what it was and thought it was the only one. There is a lot to this story." Dave and his friends had run into this creature on this property spanning 6 years. When the creature was disposed of Dave said "I didn't know what it was, I shot this thing thinking it was the only one. I remember telling the old man who owned most of the property around my house that I shot that thing. He looked at his wife and said "Honey they killed it, they shot it and he wanted to know where it was. So we took him there."
