Our Star Wars month celebration continues with the 40th anniversary of RETURN OF THE JEDI! Authors Justin Berger and Jamie Benning share details of their NEW book, Return of the Jedi Unauthorized Timeline, out June 1st.    We (Richard and Sarah) then recap Comic-Con Revolution: our Star Wars Trivia panel, book sales, and meeting TIMOTHY ZAHN.    Then it's on to Star Wars news this past week, which unfortunately included sad events. Ray Stevenson passed away on Sunday May 21. Learn how Carrie Fisher's Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was made!! Our friend, Lavonne Dominguez of Liningup.net, took part in this very special, once-in-a-lifetime experience. She and 5 other LiningUp.net members spent a day in Hollywood pouring cement, blow-torching Carrie Fisher's name-plate, cutting out the star, and signing their names - all while spreading TONS of glitter in and around Carrie Fisher's Star. Augusta Avallone is a treasure-trove of sci-fi costume knowledge, and a talented seamstress! She worked in the costume departments of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Trek Picard S3, and Loki. She also hosts a great panel, “History of Sci-Fi Costumes” which we saw at WonderCon and she tours around to many conventions. Costumes speak to the audience and tell them exactly what you need to know about characters. From natural fabrics and armor to lamé and spandex, science fiction has a rich history in the manner characters are represented. We learn about this history, and dive deep into the costume departments of all the shows she's worked on.   Then, we take a turn and talk about Augusta's second career - as a Burlesque dancer! It is always exciting to speak with someone involved in the original Star Wars trilogy who can give us first-hand stories of what it was really like to work on these epic films. Alan Fying was a Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper, and a Hoth Soldier in The Empire Strikes Back, and an Imperial Officer in Return of the Jedi. On January 27th, Disneyland hosted the kick-off celebration for the Walt Disney Company's 100th Anniversary!! New statues & decor, Nighttime Spectaculars, food, merchandise, and a NEW attraction (for Disneyland) debuted and we were there to celebrate. We just got back from Walt Disney World, we still have jet lag, but we are buzzing with excitement and can't wait to share our Life Day experiences as we take a Cosmic Rewind back to our Small World Vacation!    We visited the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, then we raced home to Disneyland. That's 5 Disney parks in one week, and both Galaxy's Edge's in one day! Return of the Jedi artist Marilee Heyer joins us in her podcasting debut to share some amazing stories! In 1982, Marilee was hired to “pretty things up” on the upcoming Star Wars sequel, Revenge of the Jedi. Thanks to a sfgate.com article written by Andrew Pridgen, we now know that her artwork for the film had not been properly credited. Are you ready for ANDOR?? This 4th live-action Star Wars series airs the first three episodes on September 21, 2022, and we've been waiting almost two months to share our review with you!! We hope to answer a very important question - whether to cuss or not in the Star Wars universe.   This episode is broken up into two sections - the first is a spoiler-free section that contains an overview of the series, plus the various characters and places to know before you watch. According to Tony Gilroy, Luthen "is the master puppeteer of our show. He is the character that links many characters, and he comes at the revolution with an incredible intensity."   Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly)     She is an Imperial senator, working her way into becoming the Rebel leader we know from RETURN OF THE JEDI and other series and films. This series allows us to explore what she is like in her day-to-day life. Even though we are just under a month until the premiere of Star Wars: ANDOR on Disney+, we are going to whet your appetite here with audio and our thoughts from the virtual press day! Not only did we learn a lot from a virtual press conference, Sarah and Richard joined Star Wars fan site roundtables featuring the cast, including Diego Luna.    While it was a joy to talk with Star Wars alums Diego Luna (“Cassian Andor” and Executive Producer), Genevieve O'Reilly (“Mon Mothma”), and Tony Gilroy (Executive Producer / Writer / Showrunner), the true surprise and delight turned out to be Star Wars newbies Kyle Soller (“Syril Karn”) and Denise Gough (“Dedra Meero”). The two were paired for their roundtable and hinted at a romantic arc for their characters. LIGHT AND MAGIC is a 6-part documentary series now streaming on Disney+. It is masterfully directed by Lawrence Kasdan - writer of The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Force Awakens, and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
