This episode is everything. I'm chatting with my amazing client Megan, who just wrapped her time in the Yummy Mummy Experience—and let me tell you, she is the *walking proof* that this work works.Megan came into the program while studying for her intense architecture licensure exams, convinced she didn't have time to focus on weight loss. But spoiler alert: she ended up passing two exams *and* losing 40 pounds in 6 months—without hunger, food drama, or restriction. We dive into how Megan broke the cycle of binge eating and emotional shame, finally ditched the “all or nothing” mindset, and started waking up actually *excited* for her day. She shares the moment she realized food didn't have to control her life anymore, why journaling (yes, journaling!) changed everything, and how the Yummy Mummy tools helped her feel calm, confident, and genuinely free.Plus, she opens up about what it's like doing the program without being a mom, why now *is* the time to lose weight (even when life is busy), and how she enjoyed a full-on Italian vacation—without gaining a single pound. This convo is full of truth bombs, inspiration, and the kind of perspective shift that can change your whole outlook. Here's what you'll hear:- Why you *don't* need to be a mom to thrive in Yummy Mummy- How Megan passed two huge exams while losing 40 pounds (with zero stress migraines!)- The easiest way to lose weight (no, really)- What it looks like to actually enjoy your food—and your life- The mindset shift that made her weight loss inevitable- Why journaling became her daily dose of calm and clarityOh, and don't miss the end where Megan talks about seeing engagement photos she actually *loves*—not because she hit a goal weight, but because she feels good in her skin.

We're tackling a BIG myth that's been holding you back: the whole "80/20" thing when it comes to eating. You know, eat healthy 80% of the time, and go wild the other 20%. Sounds dreamy, right? Here's the kicker---it doesn't work. Not for lasting weight loss, anyway. We've all been there, telling ourselves we're "mostly" healthy, but let's face it---80/20 often turns into 60/40 (if we're being honest). And that's not enough to move the needle, especially if you're in your 30s, 40s, or 50s. Why? Because it doesn't give you the momentum you need to see results. Losing weight isn't just about balance; it's about creating habits that work with your body instead of against it.In this episode, I'm spilling the tea on why 80/20 doesn't deliver the goods and how shifting to something more realistic, like 95/5 or even 98/2, can totally transform your journey. Here's the secret: it's not deprivation---it's about resetting your taste buds and hormones so your body actually craves the good stuff (yes, seriously). We'll chat about why blood sugar spikes and "hanger" are your worst enemies and how those Saturday night pizza binges might be sabotaging your progress. Plus, I'll give you a sneak peek at my Yummy Mummy Method---a no-calorie-counting, no-BS approach to losing weight for the LAST time. Because you deserve to feel energized, confident, and oh-so-happy in your own skin.Let's ditch the 80/20 trap and create a plan that actually works, babe. Hit play and hear:How the 80/20 rule sabotages weight lossWhy being honest about your habits is the first step to successHow a balanced approach like 95/5 creates lasting changeSpecifically how to make "healthy" feel satisfying and naturalThe two things to manage to help you create an easy, sustainable lifestyleIf you're curious how to actually ditch 80/20 and try it yourself with a plan of action, Yummy Mummy has got you, girl. Get ready, because we're diving into something that might surprise you: how being “nice” and people-pleasing could be slowing down your weight loss journey. Yup, I said it! Being too nice can add literal weight to your body. In this episode, I'll walk you through how to fix that!We talk about those sneaky situations where you say “yes” to the second glass of wine or the bread basket because you don't want to rock the boat. Or when you feel guilty saying “no” to dessert because, OMG, what will people think? Girl, I've been there—and I know how exhausting it is. The truth is, every time we people-please with food, we abandon ourselves and our goals. Learning to say “no, thank you” is like a superpower. It doesn't make you a bad person – in fact, it's the ultimate act of self-care. You don't need to explain yourself, and honestly, most people won't even care! We also dig into another way being “nice” shows up: overscheduling yourself. If your calendar is all about making other people happy and you're nowhere to be found on it, it's time for a cancellation tour! You've got to put YOU first to show up as the best version of yourself. Get ready to practice saying no, reclaim your time, and fill your cup in ways that actually serve you. It's time to break free, babe—you've got this! Listen in and hear more about:Why people-pleasing with food adds more than just guilt—it adds pounds, tooHow saying “no, thank you” can strengthen your self-trust and honor your goalsWhy being too “nice” on your calendar is a recipe for stress and pantry raidsHow a cancellation tour can open up space for rest, joy, and true self-careWhy guilt isn't always yours to carry—and how to hand it back to cultureBusy moms need something different when it comes to weight loss. And that's why I'm so excited for the Yummy Mummy 3-step plan to lose weight WITHOUT calorie counting! This offer is now available for only $37. You're a working mom who wants to lose weight, but you keep running into the same wall: who freaking has time to learn how to lose weight for the last time??That was exactly Emma's question when she was on maternity leave. Emma is an amazing, beloved Yummy Mummy client I invited onto the pod to speak about her experience. Before she joined, she knew she wanted to drop her post-pregnancy weight, but life was already bonkers with a newborn (she has 3 kids, after all!). Then add weight loss goals on top of it? It seemed like way too much to commit to.Emma had made so many attempts at weight loss over the years, she could tell you exactly how many calories are in a banana, but no approach seemed to work. They definitely didn't last. She was doubtful anything ever would. She didn't know what else was left that she hadn't already tried. You can see where I'm going with this ;) Emma joined the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX) and found everything she'd been missing from the other weight loss strategies she'd been trying for years. Listen into our conversation and hear Emma share about:Why she decided to commit to YMX The doubts and fears she felt when she decided to lose weight for the last timeHow YMX provided the missing key that unlocked her weight lossWhat choice and freedom mean when it comes to a new food mindsetThe impact of the support and guidance of a true communityAnd mama, if Emma's message speaks to you, you're here at just the right time. Doors are currently OPEN for the next cohort of YMX! We start September 25, so get your booty over to lauraconley.com to learn everything you need to know, and you can even book a free consultation call with me to see if this program is your next right step. One of my favorite clients ever is here to share a bit about her story inside the Yummy Mummy Experience!Liron joins me on the pod today from her home in Kansas City where she lives with her husband and two kids and I know you're going to relate to her prior struggle with weighing what she wanted.“In the grand scheme of things, I just wanted to lose 10-15 pounds, but it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. When I did things like Noom, I would do it in six to eight weeks and then go on vacation, or something would happen (good or bad) and I didn't have the tools to not give up. So then it became a vicious cycle for two years.”Liron had been listening to THIS podcast for eight months when she finally decided to join the Yummy Mummy cohort this past January. “It's a village of people who are like-minded, who are all successful in their own right, who need cheerleaders behind them to get this done. It's a way to do something that's hard but do it with others who really uplift you and support you.”Hop in on our conversation and hear straight from Liron about:Why Yummy Mummy is different for your weight loss than going it aloneHow she learned not to give up on herself anymoreThe safety and sisterhood Liron found in the Yum Mum communityWhat pleasantly surprised her about joining Yum Mum and how it compares to ‘diets'Weighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. The School of Skinny (my 5-day weight loss challenge) is IN SESSION September 9th-13th but just like any other school, you have to enroll! You can do that at lauraconley.com/school and walk away with a black and white weight loss plan you know you'll follow. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The frustration of gaining and losing the same four pounds is a special kind of hell. You just want to weigh what you want and feel good in your skin, but you can't seem to land in that place. It's always just out of reach. You start to wonder why it seems like your body is failing you. It's the worst. I know, I've been there.First thing I want you to understand is that this isn't your fault. We've only been taught to gain and lose the same damn four pounds, so of course that's the only result we see. That's what diet culture has to offer us.The Yummy Mummy method is different. In my program, you get a plan. And before you cringe, no, a plan is not just another word for ‘diet'. Plans are the complete opposite. They're spacious, easeful, and doable, and it's how Yum Mums are able to stick to them until they get the results they want. Why? Because we back each Yum Mum's plan up with psychology and science. Even if you're not a planner, never been a planner, hate what the word conjures in your mind, I GOT YOU, boo. You let me figure out the plan and you just experience the benefits. Tune into this episode and you'll learn:The two reasons why you gain and lose the same four poundsWhy a custom Yum Mum plan works and diet culture doesn'tHow to make a weight loss plan you're not a slave toHow to break the over-restricting > overeating cycleEaseful ways to use mindset hacks for success instead of white-knuckling itWeighing what you want to weigh is a skill, which means it's something you can learn. The School of Skinny (my 5-day weight loss challenge) is IN SESSION September 9th-13th but just like any other school, you have to enroll! This episode was taken from day 3 of my Summer of Me weight loss challenge, a free 5-day challenge I led in June. It was seriously so fun!A huge part of the effectiveness of the Yummy Mummy method is owed to the way we THINK about ourselves, our bodies, and our lives. And the best part is, rethinking or using ‘mindset hacks' can be learned, which means you can totally do this for yourself!During this session, I shared the Yummy Mummy mindset method that has helped women time and time again inside the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX).A lot of free information out there on the internets really skimps on actual, actionable tips to help you start creating change right away. Not around here, babe. How could I give you a taste of YMX if I didn't actually lay down some real strategies to keep you going when life starts life-ing? This episode puts the kibosh on the mental drama and helps you start rewiring the diet brain that society has conditioned us to have. This is the HUGE missing piece for so many of us when we're trying to lose weight!Hear all the deets on:Practical strategies for maintaining well-being and weight managementUsing a scientific approach to weight lossEmbracing the 'look back with love' technique to learn without self-criticism Employing strategic pessimism to anticipate and navigate potential obstaclesAnd lady: my calendar is still open for FREE 30-minute coffee chats! Part of developing your perfect weight loss plan is, yes! Following through once you have your plan in place. You could have the greatest, most effective plan in the world and it would be worthless if you aren't actually DOING the plan.Following through comes from being committed to the process of losing weight for the last time. And this process in Yummy Mummy looks very different from the diet culture we're all familiar with. Diet culture weight loss is urgent and impatient and WHY AM I NOT THERE YET? There's an end date and a box to check and we usually punish ourselves to meet the goal.Yummy Mummy weight loss is intentional, grounded and puts trust in the time that it takes because this is the last time we'll EVER have to do it. We enjoy the journey (gasp) as much as humanly possible. This episode is going to help you learn exactly how to follow through on your weight loss plan and stick with it when you inevitably have a setback. You'll know what to do when your brain tries to give you unhelpful thoughts like “The plan isn't THAT important.” You can revisit this episode as many times as you need, especially when you're feeling tempted to self-sabotage! Listen in and hear more about:Steps for how to follow through on your weight loss planHow to keep going when you're not motivated or inspiredThe power of keeping your word to yourselfWhy it matters what your brain says to you + how to navigate itAnd listen, babe: my calendar is still open for FREE 30-minute coffee chats! If you're a mom, you understand down to your bones that you want the best for your kids. You don't want them to face the same struggles you did. I had that realization when my daughter was still a baby. I was having the worst time with my weight and body image. It was a daily grind. And I did NOT want that for her. Sure, I could have faked it. I could have told myself I wouldn't let my problems affect her. But she was watching me even as a baby, and as she grew, I knew she would figure it out.She would see me try on 18 outfits and be miserable. She would see me swat my husband away when he grabbed my waist in the kitchen. She would see my disgusted expression when I looked in the mirror. And she would think all these things were normal and how SHE should feel about HERSELF.I couldn't let that happen. So I went on a mission to solve this. I became a certified coach, leaned on my past mindfulness training as a yoga teacher, and I believe I've cracked the code. I've lost weight for the last time and helped hundreds of women do the same in Yummy Mummy. It all starts with your perfect weight loss plan. Listen in and hear more about:Understanding WHY what you've tried hasn't workedHow to get present, confident, and DONE struggling with weight lossThe NUMBER ONE problem most of us face with weight lossA blueprint for creating YOUR perfect weight loss planAnd listen, queen: my calendar is still open for free 30-minute coffee chats! Babes, you're going to love today's guest. We knew each other back in the day teaching yoga in LA, and today we share the goal of using our motherhood to help other moms. Sarah Ezrin joined me on this episode, and we touched on the massive topic of maintaining a sense of SELF as a mother. Author of The Yoga of Parenting and contributing writer to Yoga Journal, Well + Good, Motherly, and Healthline, Sarah has been teaching mindful movement for over 16 years. She's also an advocate for maternal mental health AND a trained pelvic health specialist. How's THAT for a resume? You can see why I had to have her on so she could share just a little bit of her knowledge and expertise with us!After having her first son in December 2019 (right before the c*vid shutdowns), Sarah found it difficult to get still enough to practice yoga. So she dove into the study of parenting, discovered the concept of mindful parenting, and adapted it into a yoga study (which is now her book) that uses the body as a gateway for self-healing and showing up as the best parent possible. SO GOOD.Listen in and hear more about:Sneak peeks of Sarah's parenting book, including concepts like balance and freedomThe compound effect of the pressure moms feel to be perfectHow Type A moms can get free of checking the boxes and actually enjoy lifeWhat it means to practice non-attachment and how Yummy Mummy teaches itAnd listen up, buttercup: there's still time to get in my FREE 5-day weight loss challenge June 10th - June 14th called The Summer of Me! If you want to lose weight for the last time, which means you want this weight loss to actually LAST, you have to learn to have fun along the way. We've been conditioned to think that losing weight is not a fun experience, but something we just have to white-knuckle our way through. But the only reason Yummy Mummy has delivered so much success to so many women is because we figure out how to make it fun.At first, it might feel unsafe to approach weight loss as something fun. You might be so used to the constant low-level shame that you don't know how to operate without it. I mean, that makes total sense. But doesn't it make even more sense that our goals would actually be more achievable if we were enjoying the process? Pod swap alert! This episode was recorded with my friend and nutritionist Jenny (@jennythenutritionist on all the things) to release on both our podcasts, Yummy Mummy and Create Your Shape. And in this episode, we're smashing the whole freaking idea that things with your body and weight just get worse with age. Because no, mama, that's not true.Something Jenny's and my work has in common is that we frequently help women in their 40s and beyond to look and feel WAY better than they did in their 20s.This whole idea that aging is a downward spiral is a MYTH. Especially when it comes to losing weight for the last time. You absolutely have the option to get better with age. You just need the right roadmap for how to get there. And it's your lucky day, because Jenny's work is helping women understand the science behind food and their bodies to create a nutrition routine that runs on autopilot.Listen in and you'll hear more about:Why it's so important to balance your blood sugarHow to learn and trust your body's signalsNutrition or exercise; which packs the biggest weight loss punch?Self-acceptance and creating your own ideal bodyWant to chat more about if YMX is right for you? We have a VERY special guest today, Kat, my friend and fellow weight loss coach. What's super fun about Kat is she is a weight loss coach for perfectionistic type A women. She teaches women to lose weight WITHOUT the hustle which means in this episode we talked about perfectionistic tendencies and what that looks like when it comes to weight loss and healthy eating.Because NOT every person who struggles with these things even identifies as a perfectionist! But maybe you treat yourself like a robot? Maybe it's hard to leave room for your human nature when it comes to weight loss? Maybe you want to do everything perfectly -- never eating too much when you come home from work, never going off your meal plan -- and when you don't, you'd rather just throw in the towel…Sound familiar? Trust me, you'll want to hear this episode in FULL because it's SO relatable and you'll walk away with tangible tools you can implement today to help you start healing your relationship with your body and pursuing lasting weight loss.Listen in and you'll hear more about:Healing by accepting your messy human natureHow to create the weight results you want without perfectionism and hustleParallels between science experimentation and creating weight loss resultsThe trap of the 'eating right' versus 'eating wrong' mentalityDid you miss joining YMX for April enrollment? You guys are in for a super special treat today because we have actual Yum Mums here to share their experience with you. So if you need a little inspo or a seed of possibility, this podcast is going to give you that.Jana is a mother and grandmother living in the Phoenix Valley. She's lost 40 pounds in Yummy Mummy.Lindy is also a mother and grandmother who lives in California and she's lost 30 pounds so far.Susan is a mother of 5 living in Wyoming and is down 30 pounds since joining Yummy Mummy.Their backgrounds might be different, but there are many things these women have in common: They had tried all the things… Meal replacements, weight loss challenges, and diets. Watching the scale go down and then back up, over and over. Feeling stuck. Feeling doomed to the cyclical weight loss/weight gain experience forever, whether due to genetics or feeling helpless to change. They used all those crappy past results (which were not their fault) as evidence that they couldn't do it. And that's what they believed, until the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX) showed them another way.Now Jana, Lindy, and Susan have the mindset tools AND the practical day-to-day tools to help them avoid emotional eating, to embrace a well-lived life, and to free themselves from food worry so they can be more present with their families. That's what the YMX delivers - food freedom and the option to lose weight for the last time.Because it IS an option. You get to choose it. And YMX guarantees you will succeed. So get this episode in your ears and get the inspo you need to explore YOUR weight loss possibilities. The April round of Yummy Mummy is kicking off TODAY, so be sure to get your booty over PRONTO to join the April 2024 YMX cohort! I'm super excited to chat more with you about something near and dear to my heart – why diets often leave us feeling defeated, and the solution for achieving weight loss once and for all. You've tried diet after diet, only to end up right back where you started, feeling frustrated and discouraged. Sound familiar? Well, you're not alone. But fear not, because I'm going to spill the beans on why this happens and how we can break free from that cycle. Most diets crash and burn because they miss the mark on what's really causing our struggles – things like wonky hunger hormones and mindset roadblocks. That's exactly why we address those root issues in the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX).This program isn't just about shedding pounds; it's about reclaiming your power, embracing self-love, and enjoying the journey to a healthier you. We're talking personalized plans that actually make you excited to hop out of bed in the morning – yes, seriously!I know what you might be thinking – "But Laura, what about the time commitment? What about the cost? And how on earth do I get my partner on board?" I've got answers for all of that, too! Trust me: investing in yourself is the best decision you'll ever make. But don't just take my word for it – I've got some incredible success stories from real Yummy Mummies who've transformed their lives with this program. These testimonials give me all the warm fuzzies because I think about how much these women have overcome to be able to lose weight for the last time. Because you're all different. Different bodies and biologies and lifestyles and needs. And no matter what their plan is, clients are constantly telling me how easy it feels to follow YMX. Heads up for an extra-super-duper-crazy-special episode. You've been warned!Yum Mum Alum Yvette joined me for an episode to talk about all the ways the Yummy Mummy Experience (YMX) changed her personal experience of food, eating, and her body for the better.Wife, mom of two, and pediatric dentist in Chicago, Yvette was schooled from a young age to soothe with food. If the emotion you were feeling was "negative," the answer was always the same: eat.Not shockingly, this led to Yvette internalizing the belief that experiencing anything other than 100% happiness was a problem. Only life doesn't quite deliver us 100% happiness, does it? So Yvette felt stuck the other 50% of the time that she felt less-than-stellar. So, as taught, she ate about it, and spent years thinking the hopelessness she felt was inevitable. After a few months in YMX, Yvette is 20 pounds down to the size she was in high school, only THIS time, she's finally shed those emotional eating patterns that held her back for so many years. As a result of the work she's done in YMX to overcome emotional eating, Yvette finally feels hopeful, healthy, and has a beautiful, empowering self-care practice to rely on.I love her story SO much and I know you will, too.Listen in to my conversation with Yvette and you'll hear more about:- Unlearning the pattern of emotional eating and overeating- How Yvette used the YMX band-aid approach and why it works so well- Effective emotional management tools to use instead of food- The impact of truly realizing this body journey never ends- The most extreme things Yvette tried to lose weight for the last timeThe next round of Yummy Mummy is kicking off THIS month, so be sure to get your booty in for the April 2024 YMX cohort: http://lauraconley.com/work-with-me! I got to have the MOST fun conversation with Serena Hicks for her podcast, “The Serena Hicks Show”, where she talks about money and our relationship to it. We talked a lot about the feminist values that show up in our relationship to both weight and money, so I thought why not release it here so you can hear it, too?Culture tells us a lot of things to believe about money. Who can have it, how you can get it, what you're allowed to do with it…And it's the same way for our weight. We're told what we should weigh, what we should think about our weight, and how we need to manage it. Body image and money also have the legacy factor in common. What do you want to leave behind for your children? What voices do you want them to hear when they're having a tough time looking at the bank account or in the mirror? What values do you want to instill in them now so that as they mature, they have a strong foundation to face whatever obstacles come their way? Because as any Yum Mum will tell you, it's better to lead by example. Listen in to our convo and you'll hear more about: Permission to lose weight and to make a lot of moneyHow to heal our patterns around weight and money in order to move forwardThe power of learning and progressing in communityDeveloping true self-love and self-trust What our energy and emotions have to teach us Can you believe March is almost over?? Welcome to episode two in a new series centered around the idea of what makes a good mom! This concept is so important, because too many of us moms walk around with all these preconceived notions of how we ‘should' be with our kids. We hold ourselves to impossible standards day in and day out, and it's so stressful.Stressful enough that we're driven to use food to soothe those feelings of inadequacy and frustration. And then, SO OFTEN, our weight – the physical, mental and emotional weight of our fricking yo-yo diet cycles – gets in the way of our life's purpose. And we don't get to be present for our kids, which I believe is the primary definition of a good mom. Yes, in Yummy Mummy we get to lose weight, but more so, we get to fully be with our kids and our friends and our families! Because we're not up in our head beating ourselves up with guilt or hanging out in the pantry shame-eating. So, how do we address these obstacles so we can get down to the root cause of why we overeat? That's exactly what I'm going to touch on in this episode. Listen in and you'll hear more about: Defining what a good mom is for yourselfHow societal pressures make it feel like moms can't winRepairing mistakes when you don't interact with your kids how you wantedMaking the case for doing B- work as a momWhy you need to say no a lot more oftenAND, if you didn't sign up in time for the January Yummy Mummy Experience, NO WORRIES.
