You wanna get nuts? Let's get nuts! Late 80s pop culture references and bats**t insanity abound as Jack and Geoff look at the first two issues of Malibu's 1990 miniseries Ape City! Don't let the title fool you: Ape City and its denizens are nowhere to be found in this tale, but it does have gangster apes, macho fighting men, and more baboon ninjas than you can shake a shuriken at!

In this 73rd episode we break down the first issue of the most recent apes comic series, Beware the Planet of the Apes. This 2024 Marvel Comics series tells a prequel story in a 4 issue miniseries set just before the events of the 1968 film.    Nova takes center stage in a tale that disregards all previous tie-in material that served as prequels to the first movie such as Conspiracy of the Planet of the Apes and Death of the Planet of the Apes along with the entirety of the BOOM! Studios era.   This is a new adventure set in the classic continuity of the original PLANET OF THE APES films! In a hostile world run by aggressive gorillas; scientists Cornelius and Zira are the only apes alive who see value in the mute human race - but even they know human capabilities have severe limits.    So when Zira's nephew Lucius goes missing, it is with great trepidation that they turn to a human ally - a young woman who will someday earn the name "Nova"!    But the search for Lucius brings them all deeper into the Forbidden Zone - which is forbidden for a reason. What never-before-seen dangers await them in the ruins? The citizens of Ape City believed they were alone on this planet, but a world of violence lies beyond their borders!   For best enjoyment, watch the video version of this episode to see all the comic pages and panels.   Now, Go Ape!   Show Links:       We recommend watching the YouTube version above! As Alexander plots to re-take Ape City from the villainous gorilla General Ollo, orangutan advisor Jacob finds himself at an ethical crossroads. Talking Apes TV: A Planet of the Apes Podcast

Talking Apes turns 10! Or as it was called a decade ago - Talking Apes TV when it premiered on Oct. 6th, 2014. Original co-host Mark (“Mellow Kubrick”) Oguschewitz is back to run down memorable moments with a heartfelt tribute to our first Talking Apes Facebook admin., Angela Rushmere. We play the intro to the very first episode including the ear-worm that sounds like a chimpanzee giving birth, ‘Ape Shuffle'.  In a congratulatory message, Bobby Porter thanks the vast Apes crew, and we read your thoughtful social media comments.   We continue our Planet of the Apes TV show 50th Anniversary celebration and Mark gives his favorite episode, scene, and supporting character. He weighs in about who the better gorilla military leader is: Urko, Ursus, Aldo, and this time we include Proximus! The debate continues as what Urko's title is - General or Chief of Security (or both). What do you think?   And to round out this big episode we go back to Ape City to trick or treat. What's the worst that could happen when humans go door to door looking for candy and bananas? Bobby Porter reprises his role as Cornelious Jr., first time he's done so in 50 years.   Thank you to the Apes community for getting us to the 10 year mark! Ape City News - Ep#0 - Un Jeu de Rôle Planet of the Apes pour cet automne !

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 16, 2024 10:34

Fun ! Passion ! Singerie ! Ape City News - Ep#0 - Un Jeu de Rôle Planet of the Apes pour cet automne ! RICH HANDLEY a également participé.

To be honest it sounds like an orchestrated attack on black folks but without more conclusive information, it looks like Us is who we have to blame for the 65 people shot in New York, 87 people shot in Chicago and 13 shot in New Orleans. Men women and children were shot and or killed. I said it before and I will say it again, I'm more worried about people that look like me. But these are the people we immortalize in our music, mannerisms as well as TV. You wonder why the cops are killing us, well there you go. We have a habit of blaming everyone one associated with systemic racism. Should we have street justice to handle the people who seem to be the problem? I believe that failed experiment has already been tried. Bloods and Crips, Crips - In the most common version, the Crips started as an offshoot of the Black Panthers, the name CRIP an acronym for Community Revolution in Progress. LA times. Primarily black and that's who the primarily kill. No one should die in police custody especially over a counterfeit 20, However how about dying by the hand of your own people for no reason than because. So think about it before you start talking about abolishing the police. I can't fully say what I want because it's not PC to say the N word, so I will end this segment with this, Black lives Matter is now commercialized and has no value due to some few ignorant black folks. This movie is about classism and the discriminatory practice of the presumed upper classes or superior classes. The Gorilla are the warrior class. They serve primarily in the military, but you could also call them police, pest control and hunters. Their primary action is to cull the human population, as the Law Giver commanded. Their other functions are to ensure the security of Ape City and to keep the relative peace. This seems to be a natural consequence of the Gorilla's size and strength, as well as the Gorilla's strong protective instinct. The Chimpanzees are the general citizens. They are your farmers, scientists, and craftsmen. Chimpanzees are the most sociable of the great apes, they are also the most human. It makes sense that they would be inclined towards pacifism and trade, since they have the most complex social organization. They also seem to have a wide range of tasks, probably due to the large range of intelligence and complex hierarchy found in Chimp society. The Orangutan are the clerical class. They have reign over the law and spiritual needs of the Apes. They ensure society functions along Ape law And the Humans well they were pets, sport and cattle. In our society Orangutans would be our politician and law makers the upper class. To the point they know more than you and often won't appeal to the common man. They believe and keeping the classes separate as well and protecting their own interest. Gorillas the police and the military, they control order through brute force often through learned behavior and less thought process of right or wrong. They often are controlled by the Orangutans. 1st example, Gov. Brian Kemp will deploy as many as 1,000 Georgia National Guard troops to protect state buildings in Atlanta on Monday following a burst of violence across the city. Chimpanzees or inventive minds, also known as the middle Class. Humans would represent the people. Low income people who are less likely to be more than what they see. The humans don't speak in correlation that most people today don't believe they have a voice that matters. Ask someone why they don't vote. The first response is my vote doesn't matter. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/according-2-b-matthews/support

Happy Halloween Ape Fans! In this episode of Talking Apes TV we celebrate this UrkoTastic holiday with stories of how Richard's Galen costume made him cry, we try to figure out how Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute fit into the Monster cereals, and why Vincent Price is giving out Easter seals to trick-or-treaters. We also say goodbye to our dear friend, Gary Dubin who passed away in early October. We had lots of laughs as we dove into the 'was he/was he not' the young gorilla in the original Planet of the Apes film. Whether he was or not, we were lucky enough to meet him at an apes autograph signing last year. He will be deeply missed. Then we dive into the episode Attack from the Clouds. This is the 10 entry in the Return to the Planet of the Apes series which aired November 8, 1975. In this episode we continue with the theme of giant monsters when a a flying dragon creature is seen over Ape City. Urko believes it is his stolen plane being used in a secret plot to overthrow him. The dragon creature moves on and finds a food source in humanoid-land known as New Valley and begins attacking. Meanwhile Bill and Judy go to to locate the stolen plane from a previous episode before Urko before finds it which would spell certain doom. In an effort to save their herd Bill and Judy go out and locate Urko’s stolen plane and use it to to combat the beast! We have lots of fun with this one as we see Urko spiral deeper into his own madness. Listen, enjoy, have a Happy Halloween and, GO APE! Hey Hey Ape Fans! Welcome back to Talking Apes TV! We kick off this episode by looking at some awesome costume cross-overs from Star Wars Celebration Europe. These have got to be the best we've ever seen - Planet of the Star Wars! Fans dressed as vintage Apes wearing Stormtrooper, X-Wing and TIE Fighter pilot uniforms. All lead by Darth Zaius. Speaking of crossovers, Boom Comics who mashed-up Star Trek and Planet of the Apes is at it again with - Tarzan on the Planet of the Apes! We review the details as given at time of recording for this 5 issue mini-series. When war between man and ape breaks out, which side will Caesar and his brother Tarzan choose? First issue to be released 9/28/2016. "Trail to the Unknown" Synopsis (Airdate 11/1/1975) Bill, Jeff and Judy have to get the humanoids away from their home before Urko’s imminent attack. They build rafts and sail away to their new home in New Valley (as foretold in Tunnel of Fear). Meanwhile in Ape City, Dr. Zaius visits Cornelius and Zira to thank them for stealing Urko's plane (as seen in last episode ‘Screaming Wings'). By doing so, Zaius feels that Zira and Cornelious have saved simian society from Urko's dictatorship. Hungry for power, Urko has tracked the humans to their new home and plans to destroy them once and for all! We have a blast reviewing this episode since we are starting to see the bigger story. They better hurry up since there are only 4 more episodes to the series! It's always a bonus when the writers think about continuity and include Easter eggs from the films and live-action TV show. And we see Urko spiraling further into iNsaNity! During a commercial break, we hear a commercial for a toy that we're sure Urko played with as a child. Probably made him into the Apes is he today. And we hear from MEGO and their KISS collection of figures. (WARNING: Once you hear that commercial jingle, you WILL be singing it for days.) Listen, have fun, and Go APE!
