Geraint and Jack - whose segments appear on this release in that order - recently appeared on a Twitter space hosted by our friend @UncleTrash, along with the estimable @tonytrains, to talk about how centrists suck as usual.
A quick note from us: There were some technical difficulties at the end of this episode, so the closing section of this show was not recorded, sadly. We will revisit the section when Juliet comes back! -------- This week, we're joined by writer and broadcaster Juliet Jacques (@zinovievletter) to talk about the "Very British Problems" twitter account. Set up in 2012, the extremely popular account posts mundane observations of British life (milky tea, not being able to stop saying please), but, like everything in 2012, it is largely a fantasy. We talk about how VBP and the media empire it spawned, became the ideological backdrop for the FBPE movement, and that in 2021, it exists as a strange place in which its supporters and followers lament what Britain either was, or what it should have been, had it not been for Brexit. We also talk about Spoonerisation (changing initials of names) and the shorter half lives of insults and funny put-downs on the internet, making the case that perhaps spoonerising....might not be funny any more? -------- You can follow Juliet's work by following her at @zinovievletter, or through her website: www.julietjacques.com. -------- Ten Thousand Posts is a show about how everything is posting. It's hosted by Hussein @HKesvani), Phoebe (@PRHRoy) and produced by Devon (@Devon_onEarth). For weekly bonus episodes, follow us on Patreon at www.patreon.com/10kpostspodcast.
On this week's episode, we're joined once again by Will Kedjanyi (@KeejayOV3) to talk about why the British government - having decided to fully give up on governing- has been stocked to the brim with Posters. From Nadine Dorries falling for every Facebook conspiracy you can think of, to Liz Truss and her #love of #hashtags, the Conservative party have decided to simply cover all aspects of poster's brain - a strategy which, oddly enough, seems to be working. We also revisit one of the original anti-Brexit tweets - in which British people form "genteel queues at the Pret a Manger" that set the tone for the online "FBPE" movement, and examine why the group has been struggling to find a sense of purpose or identity in a way its counterparts haven't. -------- Ten Thousand Posts is a show about how everything is posting. It is hosted by Phoebe (@PRHRoy), Hussein (@HKesvani) and produced by Devon (@Devon_OnEarth). For bonus content, check out our Patreon at : www.patreon.com/10kpostspodcast.

In the past decade, certain subcultures have been identified in social media. Fiat 500 Twitter, FBPE and Scottish Twitter have all been documented to some degree as having their own implied sets of rules, values and norms which are distinct from whatever mainsteam or “normal” is. And then there’s Irish Twitter. Whatever about Ireland itself and wherever you consider its borders to be, Irish Twitter is widely taken to be activist, feminist, outgoing, left-leaning, pop culture hyper-literate and saltily hilarious. And few individuals encapsulate these qualities as much as today’s guest. Ciara McShane (@ciara87c)’s twitter feed is a wild diary of the experiences of an Irish woman in a Brexit era London which cannot figure out its nearest neighbour. Her observations on topics from Tinder to politics to Ulster Irish have won her over 29,000 followers. Recently she has talked movingly about homesickness during Covid19 and has been involved in raising money for community groups. She tells Darach and Éimear all about it in today’s episode, as well as her favourite Irish words and historical figures. --- Get Kirsten Shiel art prints here: https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/kirstenshiel/ --- Contact the show: twitter - @motherfocloir and @theirishfor email - motherfocloir@headstuff.org
Brexit and PoliticiansI am a Remainer. My main reason for not wanting Brexit is that I don't trust our politicians. I don't trust any politicians, not only British ones, but it seems to me that we have more chance of justice, if we have a couple of layers of them. Yes, that is more expensive, but at least we ordinary folk might get a fairer crack of the whip.Just look at the things our British politicians have been caught doing over the last decade, and they have been getting away with it forever! I should imagine that the continental politicians are corrupt too - I can't see why they shouldn't be, but then the whole shebang should be reformed. Calling Brexit and retreating into our caves won't help.Anyway, another reason for being anti-Brexit crossed my mind the other day. I have always popped over to the Continent for a few days on the spur of the moment every now and then, time and money permitting. This will no longer be possible, will it, if we will require visas to go over there?I used to fly to Cork - thirty minutes away, but that might not be possible either, because they will be EU and we will be... what? British? Just British... stuck on our own little island with almost all our boats and bridges burned, unless we plan our once-a-year fortnight's holiday abroad. How pathetic, how limiting, is that? Everyone else in Europe can just get on a plane or a ferry, and Brits have to queue for a visa!No wonder rich people are buying EU citizenship in Malta so they don't get left behind the rest of the world like we will be!Brexit is a step back into the Dark Ages... voted for in haste and fuelled by liars who only want more power as British politicians - but you can bet your life that they will still have the right to spur-of-the-moment travel - it's always the bloody same:One rule for them and another for the rest of us!Vote for a second referendum! How can it be undemocratic to ask a more informed people what they want? It is the only way that we will move forward.Use #FBPE (Follow Back, Pro EU) in your social media messages to show you support remain or a second referendum! Please LIKE and SHARE this article using the buttons below and visit our bookshopAll the best,OwenPodcast: Brexit and Politicianshttp://smarturl.it/Brexit-mps?IQid=spreaker

In this first episode of Trashfuture’s second year, Riley (@raaleh), Hussein (@HKesvani), and Milo (@Milo_Edwards), speak to DSA Los Angeles activist Josh Androsky (@ShutUpAndrosky) about public banking, liberalism’s inability to provide answers in a rapidly worsening world, Tommy Robinson's total madness, and right-wing freakouts online. And on that note, this podcast is effectively a piece of evidence in Hussein’s upcoming soup malfeasance trial. You can commodify your dissent with a t-shirt from http://www.lilcomrade.com/. You can also purchase useful kitchen implements from our socialist cookware sponsor, Vremi (https://vremi.com/). Nate (@inthesedeserts) produced this from Brooklyn, but in less than a month’s time he’ll be producing it while living in London permanently, just in time for [#FBPE voice] B r e x i t .
#FBPE - The Anti-Brexit Twitter Hashtag #FBPE - The Anti-Brexit Twitter Hashtag Have you ever heard of #FBPE ? No, I hadn't until recently either, but apparently #FBPE is the anti-Brexit hashtag that is sweeping the country amongst those who can't see the sense in leaving the EU. Well, to quote the Animals, "And, God, I know, I'm one..." I have tried and tried, but cannot see any good reason for getting out... I really can't; whether it happens or not. The only plausible argument that I have heard for leaving is 'to return power to Westminster', but I can't see why anyone would want to do that. For example, did the European Parliament force our home-grown MP's to: 1) Steal from the public purse? 2) Tell lies to cover up the misdeeds of the true ruling class? 3) Forget that they are PUBLIC SERVANTS, and not glory-seekers looking for a knighthood? 4) Demolish the NHS? 5) Ruin our educational system? 6) Abolish legal aid 7) Further impoverish the poor, the sick and the disabled? 8) Create ghettos out of our inner citties and town centres? 9) Bail their banking buddies out? 10) Take away the impartiality of the BBC? I could go on, but I think that ten are a good start. Did our home-grown politians need any encouragement to do that? I don't think so... When they say they want to return power to Westminster, they mean to them, not to us! Are there things wrong with the European Parliament? I'm sure there are, but why do you care about the name of the thief or person ruining your life and country? Who cares whether the bastard's name is George, Sjors, or Jorge? Helen, Helene, or Helena? Europeans should stick together and throw all the self-serving shits out! Whatever class, party or country they're operating in! We are being divided to make us easier to control... there is strength in unity. Don't you think that the Spanish, French or Germans (or any of the others) are fed up of getting ripped off too? It's not only us, believe you me. Get a grip, don't be led, step up to the plate and tell the glory hunters where to get off! We, the ordinary people, are losing hundreds of millions of allies by abandoning Europe in the way that we are. It is all very sad. "rp" (stylised in lowercase letters), sometimes subtitled "Our First Episode In What Feels Like Forever", is the 61st episode of the British podcast Reel Politik, released on June 4, 2018, by Reel Politik. The episode features RP founders Tom Foster & Jack Frayne-Reid and uncredited appearances by Laura Jolyon Tidd as Margaret Thatcher and Anna Soubry. Frayne-Reid produced the episode in its entirety, in a very meglomaniacal fashion. (*stops mimicking "ye" Wikipedia page*) "rp" deals with the spiteful idiocy of Eddie Marsan, and asks who is the biggest Tory in the UK film industry, besides Marsan himself? We serenade you with the legend of Cajun guitarist Rusty Kershaw, who contributed to Neil Young's timeless On The Beach album. We look at the #FBPE movement - the biggest bunch of crank wankers on the whole of Twitter and possibly in the entire world - and analyse the Tories' paid troll army and the remarkable propaganda accomplishment that is "centrist-dad.com". We discuss unpopular opinions, serial Wikipedia editors/journalists, and the pitfalls of "both sidesism", before, finally, Tom raises the dreaded spectre of a second EU referendum. #FBPE #WATON #ABTV #PeoplesVote #ACGrayling4PM
