Most people know Ciara as a Grammy winning superstar with 23 million albums sold and hits like “Goodies” and “Level Up.” What they don't know is how a military kid with no connections built one of the most durable careers in entertainment and is now quietly building a business empire across rum and kids fashion. In this conversation, Ciara walks through the three goals she wrote down at 13 that led to a record deal at 16, millions of albums sold by 19, and a 21 year career that's still evolving. She talks about why it's necessary to stay “a little delulu”, how manifestation actually works, and how a good whiteboard session can turn an idea into a real-world business. We get into why being the only woman in rum is fuel not fear, how her apparel company 3Brand crossed $100M, and why culture and quality beat hype every time. This episode isn't about overnight wins. It's about confidence built slowly, emotions kept out of decisions, and learning to run your race without burning out trying to win someone else's. ___________ 00:00:00 Introduction 00:01:25 The Power of Pre-Performance Rituals 00:04:03 Embracing Failure and the Amnesia Method 00:06:21 Being Delulu: Walking Into Rooms Fearlessly 00:09:18 Speaking Life Into Your Kids 00:10:27 The Army Kid Who Wrote Her Game Plan at 13 00:16:34 Manifestation: Writing It Down and Speaking It Out Loud 00:22:03 Faith as Your Shield in Dark Moments 00:25:56 Running Your Own Race: Don't Glorify Man 00:28:29 The Greater the Great, The More They Hate 00:30:19 Whiteboard Sessions with Your Partner 00:45:07 Building a 100 Million Dollar Brand: 3Brand Story 00:37:34 Ten To One Rum: Reimagining a Spirit Category 00:47:42 Quality Over Everything: The Business Superpower 00:50:48 Trust Your Gut: Knowing Who Not to Trust on Day One 00:58:34 Following Your Curiosity Down the Rabbit Hole 01:11:14 Beauty Marks and Attainment: Scars Are Your Story ___________ MORE FROM BIGDEAL

When cold cases are looked at, many officers believe the name of the culprit is already held within the paperwork. Time can restrict an investigation as people move away, forget details or pass away. But it also works in the other way, that loyalties change, people lose the fear of being found out or their conscience finally gets to them and new information is given. Between 1993 and 1998, six women disappeared under mysterious circumstances within a geographical area now referred to as the Vanishing Triangle:Annie McCarrick (1993): An American student living in Dublin, Annie was last seen boarding a bus to Enniskerry. Despite extensive searches, no trace of her has been found.Fiona Pender (1996): A 25-year-old pregnant woman from Tullamore, Fiona disappeared without a trace.Ciara Breen (1997): A 17-year-old from Dundalk, Ciara vanished after sneaking out of her home one night.Fiona Sinnott (1998): Fiona was last seen leaving a pub in County Wexford. Despite ongoing searches, her case remains unsolved.Jo Jo Dullard (1995): Disappeared while hitchhiking home to Kilkenny from Dublin. Her last known contact was a phone call made from a phone box in Moone, County Kildare.Deirdre Jacob (1998): A 19-year-old college student from Newbridge, Deirdre vanished within sight of her family. Struggling with costs in your healthcare organization? Reach out to Michael. Click Here for more info Episode Summary In this inspiring conversation, Michael Levitt welcomes Ciara, founder of Eventist, a leading SaaS company that revolutionized ticketing for dance competitions. What began as a side project for a friend turned into a thriving event management platform serving studios, festivals, and large-scale competitions. Ciara's story is a testament to resilience, innovation, and the power of solving real problems through technology. Building a SaaS Business from Scratch After losing her job, Ciara chose to create something new. What started as a personal favor evolved into a full-fledged software company addressing a gap in the dance competition industry. Michael commends her for transforming a career setback into a successful entrepreneurial journey. Together, they explore how identifying underserved markets can lead to sustainable business growth. Aligning Developers with Industry Experts Michael and Ciara dive into the challenge of bridging the gap between developers and industry specialists. They discuss how effective requirement gathering and clear communication lead to better, more intuitive software, especially in niche markets like event ticketing. Ciara shares how this alignment allowed her team to build solutions that meet real user needs rather than assumptions. Designing for User Experience, Not Just Features Feature requests can pile up fast, but Ciara knows that usability matters most. She and Michael examine why prioritizing user experience is critical, even if it means saying “no” to certain requests. Drawing parallels to healthcare and other sectors, Michael explains how miscommunication between end users and designers can lead to frustration, while Ciara highlights the importance of serving the majority of users who rely on core functions every day. Turning Customer Feedback into Action Listening to customers does not mean building everything they ask for. Ciara explains how her team implemented a feature voting system, giving users a transparent way to influence the product roadmap. Michael suggests that reaching out to clarify feedback can turn casual users into loyal advocates, showing that thoughtful communication fosters trust and retention. The AI Bubble and Software Evolution Michael and Ciara discuss the similarities between today's AI boom and the early 2000s dot-com era. While AI offers immense potential, Michael notes that many tools being created today will not stand the test of time. The future belongs to products that solve real problems with precision, human oversight, and authentic value. Building a Foundation for Scalability Ciara credits Eventist's adaptability to a strong infrastructure developed over three years. This solid foundation allowed her team to expand into studio management and festival scheduling without rebuilding from scratch. Michael praises this long-term mindset, explaining that scalable success depends on a stable architecture, not shortcuts. Database Discipline and Developer Sanity Ciara shares a golden rule for developers: stabilize your database schema before launch. Her six-month schema freeze policy helps avoid late-night emergencies and production chaos. Michael highlights how this disciplined approach prevents cascading issues and builds user confidence in the reliability of a system. Eventist: Empowering the Dance and Event Industry In closing, Ciara discusses how Eventist empowers dance studios and event organizers with transparent pricing that includes free ticketing software with a flat 25-cent fee per ticket and a 1.9 percent fee for studio tools. Listeners can explore more about her work and updates through Eventist.ca to learn about Ciara's software. Explore workplace and leadership insights at BreakfastLeadership.com/blog. Beyond the Story Hearts Talk Podcast, Ciara M. Clark delves into the SMC way—Soulful, Mindful, and Continuous—encouraging listeners to break free from limiting beliefs and embrace their highest potential.Main Content:1. **Understanding the SMC Way** Sierra introduces the SMC way as a framework for personal growth. She emphasises that S stands for Soulful, M for Mindful, and C for Continuous. This approach encourages individuals to continuously engage with their inner selves, allowing for personal transformation. She notes, "This is a continuum of bursting ourselves off and getting ourselves back up again."2. **The Concept of Superlative-ness** Exploring the term "superlative," Ciara defines it as being in our highest form. She shares how understanding this concept shifted her narrative, reminding listeners that no matter their circumstances, they remain their superlative selves. She states, "When you realize that you are your highest degree in your highest form, no matter what happens, you are still your superlative self."3. **Breaking Predated Narratives** A significant portion of the discussion revolves around the impact of predicated narratives—beliefs shaped by our upbringing, society, and self-doubt. Ciara urges listeners to recognize and challenge these limiting beliefs, sharing personal anecdotes that highlight her journey of overcoming self-doubt and negativity. "We find ourselves believing in predated narratives about ourselves, which leads to self-hate and stinky thinking," she explains.4. **The Black Friday Investment Series** As the episode wraps up a special series, Sierra emphasises shifting the focus from consumerism to self-investment. She introduces the acronym BLACK, which stands for Break cycles, Learn yourself, Align your story, Choose conscious connections, and Keep blooming. Each component encourages listeners to take actionable steps toward personal growth, transforming their narratives from victimhood to empowerment.5. **Historical Context and Resilience** Ciara discusses the importance of understanding our history as a foundation for growth. Drawing on her personal experiences and cultural narratives, she highlights the resilience of the Black community, emphasising that despite obstacles, the ability to rebuild and innovate remains strong. "No matter how many obstacles Black communities have faced, we always can rebuild, re-innovate, restore, and re-imagine," she asserts. Conclusion: The episode serves as a powerful reminder that we all have the capacity to transcend our limiting beliefs and embrace our true selves. By breaking free from predated narratives and investing in ourselves, we can cultivate a life that reflects our highest potential. As Ciara beautifully states, "You are fully capable of blooming from what you have gone through."Key Takeaways: - Embrace the SMC way: Soulful, Mindful, and Continuous.- Recognise and challenge predicated narratives that limit your potential.- Focus on self-investment rather than consumerism, especially during times like Black Friday.- Understand your history to inform your future and cultivate resilience.#personalgrowth, #selfimprovement #podcasthighlights, #resilience #selfdiscovery #empowerment #breakingnarratives #BlackFridayinvestment #SMCway, #superlativeself.
