In this episode of Art Heals All Wounds, guest J.M. Golding, a photographic artist from the Bay Area, shares her unique approach to analog photography, emphasizing the powerful connections between nature, self, and others that her work seeks to capture. The discussion dives deep into the art of "slow photography," the spontaneity of using plastic toy cameras, and the wonder of pinhole camera techniques and lumen prints. Key Discussion Points:· Spontaneity and Dreamlike Photography: J.M. Golding reveals how using plastic toy cameras and vintage techniques fosters a connection with the unpredictable and imperfect elements that make her images dreamlike and deeply evocative.· Lumen Prints and Pinhole Wonders: Learn about the intriguing process of creating lumen prints and how Golding explores photography without a camera. Through pinhole cameras, she captures the simple beauty of a "box of air" making an image.· Connection to Nature and Internal Experiences: Golding discusses how her photography reflects her internal experiences and often anticipates future events, showcasing nature's cycles, as seen in her series "From Destruction Grows A Garden of the Soul."· Post-Fire Healing: Delve into the story of Golding's "Fire Followers" photographs, documenting the regeneration of nature after wildfires and drawing parallels to personal healing and the cycles of renewal in nature.· Environmental Reflections and Interconnectedness: The conversation touches on the urgency of recognizing our interconnectedness with nature, exploring topics like climate change, and the role of imagination and creativity in finding solutions.· Embracing Slow Photography: Pam and J.M. discuss the importance of slowing down both in art and life, advocating for a mindful approach to creativity that encourages reflection and presence.Featured Series and Artwork:· "From Destruction Grows A Garden of the Soul"· "The Seeds of Its Own Renewal"· "Wildflower" series "After the Fire"Don't forget to go to my website and leave me YOUR story of belonging to feature on a future episode!Buy Me a Coffee!Follow J.M. And his continued support and promotion of TUBE TUNES on his excellent podcast is greatly appreciated by yours truly. Please, check out his podcast, even if you're not an Atari 2600 collector; or at least visit his website here. Next Episode: "S01E07: Cathode Ray Memories" (available March 20, 2016)
View Sermon Notes Describing the glory of God is probably one of the toughest concepts a preacher has to handle. How can I possibly explain the awesomeness of God? Exposed to a mere passing glimpse of Yahweh’s glory, Moses’ face glowed and that glowing face terrified the people who saw him afterward. The request that Moses made to God—show me your glory—was a noble and worthwhile one. God honoured it. We too can position ourselves to see the glory of God and experience what some have called “the manifest presence” of the Lord. That’s what’s ahead of us in this tenth and final message in our Bound for Glory series. We want to see his glory both now and when the journey ends—when all genuine followers of Christ are glorified in his presence forever.

View Sermon Notes We’re bringing this little preaching series, The Holy Spirit, to a close today. God has used this teaching already in our church. The clarity on what we believe about the Holy Spirit will continue to help us not only have knowledge about the Spirit but be more significantly impacted by his ongoing work in our lives: saving us, supporting us, empowering us to serve and sanctifying us. That last one is the emphasis of this week’s message. Get ready to hear from the Lord as we look at the Holy Spirit’s work in sanctifying us or making us more holy. His work plays out in how he illuminates the Scriptures for us, how he purifies us from our sin, and how he assures us of his love and of our standing before him.

View Sermon Notes God is at work! During last Sunday’s worship, two people professed faith in Christ. Many others sought prayer and we all gained a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit’s support for us. We’ll continue along today with a look at the Holy Spirit’s work in us for service: his filling, his gifting and his leading in our lives as believers.

View Sermon Notes There isn’t a person on the planet that doesn’t need some help, some comfort, some strengthening at some point in their life. People will look for different ways to find it when they need it, but all will fall short of what God offers us through the very presence and power of his Holy Spirit. We’ve put one week of this important four-week series behind us. We established that the Holy Spirit works in us to save us. And today we’ll turn our attention to his comfort and care. The Holy Spirit works in us for support.

View Sermon Notes Easily the most misunderstood person of the Trinity. Fully God. One in essence with the Father and the Son and yet distinct as a person and in activities. And because it is the Holy Spirit who was sent to earth once Jesus had ascended into heaven, the motivation should be there for us to understand all we can about the God who lives in us. And the elders have set aside the next four weeks for that very thing: to understand and experience the manifest presence of God in our lives through a more complete study of the Holy Spirit. We’ll be in various Scriptures along the way as we study fourteen distinct activities of the Spirit. They will be grouped under four broad works of the Spirit: salvation (this Sunday), support (Oct. 13), service (Oct. 20) and sanctification (Oct. 27). I believe this is going to be an important series for our church as we grow in our understanding of our God and see how that transforms our lives.
