Matt and Todd discuss the 1990-1997 NBC-TV Sit-Com; Wings, starring Tim Daly, Steven Weber and Crystal Bernard as we join their lives on Nantucket Island's Tom Nevers Field. The show features early performances by Thomas Haden Church as Lowell, Tony Shalhoub as Antonio and cameos from across the harbor. Wings cruises through 8 strong seasons yet is largely forgotten in the wake of industry giants of the early-mid 90s like Friends, Seinfeld, Cheers, Frasier, Married... With Children, Mad About You, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Simpsons, Fish Police and Capitol Critters.
This week, Cam and Erin drown in a sea of fish puns and werewolf semantics when they watched FISH POLICE and WOLFBLOOD.

Eyyy, it's Jacob Bisonowitz... I mean Jackie Bison! When the Simpsons changed animation history, all the other networks scrambled to catch up... you remember Fish Police, you remember Family Dog, you remember Capitol Critters... but do you remember Jackie Bison? Oh, YOU WILL.

BLUB BLUB BLUB! Blub blubub blub blubulblub? Blubble blub blubbles! Do you get it, it was like I was underwater? Ah shut your face! Hi guys it's the Toonhounds back again ready to drench you from head to foot with fun. I said FUN, jeez what is it with you today? Anyway, we watched Fish Police and Ponyo, then we answered emails and talked about shit for about 40 minutes, it's a good episode! Oh also Spivzy's microphone went weird so sorry about the audio maybe? it sounded okay on my end, but I don't know, maybe you're listening to us through 8k spatial audio or something.
This time on the Couch: Mike, James, and Shée start a new life under the sea after reading 1987's Fish Police no. 10! Inspector Gill, an oddly human fish creature, finds himself lost in the desert after one of his wacky investigations goes awry! How can a fish world have a desert? Stop asking questions, nerd, it's not that kind of story. What matters is that Gill is about to learn that the earth is flat, physics are for losers, and no matter what you do, barnacles will manage to get on everything. Like, everything. Looks like our worlds aren't so different after all!
In the early 90's, with the golden era of The Simpsons in full swing, Fox's rival networks were desperate to devise counterprogramming to bridge a seemingly insurmountable ratings and cultural impact gap. They failed miserably with a pair of evening cartoons made for basically nobody, Fish Police and Capitol Critters. Plus: a side of Scorch, starring the titular dragon puppet Scorch, also featuring Seinfeld's J. Peterman himself, John O'Hurley.
From Duckman to Dicktown, this week we’re covering cartoons… for grown-ups. These animated series have an adult sensibility, and they don’t all feature obscenity, graphic violence, or sexual acts… though some do! Shows like The Legend of Vox Machina, Harley Quinn, Hit Monkey, and Invincible have an adult audience clearly or primarily in mind, while others, like Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law or The Tick require a deep well of cultural references that might leave children (and many adults) baffled. We discuss the overall trend, highlight shows past and present we love, and puzzle out how some shows (good and inexplicable) even came to be. Glenn Fleishman with David J. Loehr, John McCoy, Lisa Schmeiser, Moisés Chiullan and Tony Sindelar.

A very good episode in which we talk to our past selves (while keeping an eye on the space time continuum), Ben heroically finds his sister’s missing cat and Vicki stays calm during a blackout. - We discuss oven lights, Vicki’s new hobby of baking and what we would say to ourselves from ten years ago. - Vicki was right (in a rare, historical moment) about Fish Police and swimming caps. - Ben finds his sister’s lost cat and needs a classy way to ask for the reward. - Ben thought that cat and dognappers would be a much bigger issue when he was a kid. - Vicki’s favourite couple in The Umbrella Academy weirds Ben out. - Vicki struggles to spend money in South Australia. - Vicki experiences a blackout at her Airbnb and handles it totally rationally.

It's a Christmas Miracle (curse?). It is our shortest episode because the show we cover is the worst thing we've ever watched. We covered a show we originally vowed to never cover, Fish Police. Fish Police is for kids. Or wait, adults. Or both, maybe? I don't know. Hear us try to crack this case. Either way, it's the shortest running cartoon we've ever watched, and Jack loved it. Also, we remembered to eat cereal this week except Maverick got confused about what cereal it was for about 20 minutes. Progress. Fish Police (1992) S1E1 The Shell Game

Nineties Cartoons day is a very dangerous day. This week Kyle and Matthew take a nostalgic trip into the Aaahh!!! real animated world of '90s cartoons with comedians Keith Carey and Anna Valenzuela. They talk Nicktoons, Disney Afternoon, Cartoon Network and much more. They also discuss the delicate kid karma at play when the Northridge Earthquake ruined Kyle's chance to meet the Power Rangers. But Keith has no remorse for Kyle's house being destroyed after Kyle mentions he had the Real Ghostbusters firehouse playset. Also, Kyle and Anna chat about "Denver, the Last Dinosaur" and his lasting presence on Spanish TV. (It's kind of like if Morrissey were a dinosaur that liked to skateboard.) And the group attempts to answer one of life's great questions: How does CatDog poop? Check out Anna and Keith on the 12 Questions and Mean Boys podcasts, respectively! And I'd also like especially to thank him for providing the opening and closing theme music for Tube Tunes; all of his fantastic music can be found here. And, again, thanks are in order for him for providing TUBE TUNES with the "We'll Be Right Back" drops heard during the podcast. Thanks, Burford. I would also like to again thank Rob "Flack" O'Hara and Sean Johnson for adding TUBE TUNES to The Throwback Network. It's a great place to find just about any retro-themed podcast you can think of. Please check out the network here. Finally, my thanks to Ferg of The Atari 2600 Game by Game Podcast. His inspiration and dedication to covering every game cartridge ever made for the Atari 2600 (I think over 1000 of them!) is what gave me the courage to begin this podcast. And his continued support and promotion of TUBE TUNES on his excellent podcast is greatly appreciated by yours truly. Please, check out his podcast, even if you're not an Atari 2600 collector; or at least visit his website here. Next Episode: "S01E07: Cathode Ray Memories" (available March 20, 2016)
This week on Galaktacus we cast our giant eyes upon animation, specifically the cartoons of the small screen. From the after-school binging and Saturday morning appointment-viewing of our youth to The Simpsons and Adult Swim-inspired series of our adulthood, we attempt to pinpoint whether animation still packs the same punch in an already packed world of pop culture. So if you're a fan of new shows like Rick and Morty or Adventure Time, old classics like Batman: The Animated Series, prime time stalwarts like Family Guy (shudder) or randoms like Fish Police and The Critic, then this is the podcast for you.

He believes that there is no such thing as a problem dog, just problem owners. Billy Gibbons got in touch with Saturday Live to tell us about his home where everything (including him) is from the 1950's - apart from a handful of essentials. Formerly an Elvis impersonator, he now works at a care home for people who have dementia and learning disabilities. We have the Inheritance Tracks of comedian Stewart Lee and a group of friends from Manningtree High School in Essex report on the growing trend for cross bred dogs for BBC News School Report. And we hear how Denise Bentley, a former City Foreign Exchange Trader, ended up running the Tower Hamlets Foodbank on behalf of the Trussell Trust. With the help of Comic Relief funding its unique hub model means it can offer more than just food, including benefits and housing advice. **Stewart's tracks are : 'Solitary Man' by Neil Diamond recorded live at The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles for his album Hot August Night and 'Chicken Nuggets for me' by The Fish Police.** Producer: Alex Lewis Editor: Karen Dalziel.
