This week on It Was a Thing on TV First, not to be confused with Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, this version was a series of specials throughout the 1977-78 television season with little connection to the original. The positive of this version is a superstar talent got his first national exposure on this show, among other talents who had lengthy careers in television and elsewhere. A negative is the producer got sued and lost millions because he didn't have everybody's permission to do this show. Then, Kevin Smith gave us "Clerks", a cult classic indie film from 1994. "Clerks" gave us Jay & Silent Bob. Jay & Silent Bob gave us a lot of laughs.... so ABC gave an order for an animated follow-up. On today's episode I am coming to you LIVE from San Diego Comic-Con with Disney Animator and storyboard artist, Peter Paul Bautista! I was so excited to have Peter Paul join us for this year's SDCC show. When I was first introduced to Peter Paul from Mike and JB at From North to Wharf we hit it off immediately chatting via social media and I knew he would be a lot of fun to talk to on the show about the incredible animation career he's built working on some incredible movies and tv shows. I talked with Peter Paul about how he got his start in animation, losing a graphic design job at an engineering & oil company and stumbling into animation from there. Finding his first animation job as an inbetween artist on Space Jam, working on Clerks: The Animated Series and having no idea who Kevin Smith was, working on Mission Hill, finding his next job on The Tigger Movie, staring to work on movies and shows with Bento Box, such as the Bob's Burgers Movie and Krapopolis, and so much more! A huge Thank You to Peter Paul Bautista for taking the time to join us in San Diego for the show! It was so much fun getting to know Peter Paul during this episode. Also a Thank You to his friend Rachel who snapped some photos for us during the show. A big thank you to Mike and JB of From North to Wharf for helping connect me with Peter Paul. Please make sure to follow Peter Paul on all of the links below. Thank you to the staff at San Diego Comic-Con for always being so amazing to us. And especially Thank you to the Unofficial San Diego Comic-Con blog for the continual support and spreading the word about the show. We are always so grateful for you! Thank you everybody who came out and joined us for this show. Thank You, Peter Paul! Enjoy the episode.

Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn, Everest CounselingJason Mewes, a name synonymous with the irreverent, quick-witted character Jay from the dynamic duo Jay and Silent Bob, has carved a unique niche in the world of comedy and film. Born on June 12, 1974, in Highlands, New Jersey, Mewes' journey from suburban life to becoming a cult icon is as intriguing as the characters he portrays.Mewes' career took an unexpected turn when he met filmmaker Kevin Smith in high school. The two formed a friendship that would prove pivotal for both their lives and careers. In 1994, Smith cast Mewes as Jay in the indie hit "Clerks," a character that would become emblematic of their collaboration. The chemistry between Mewes' Jay and Smith's Silent Bob became a cornerstone of their subsequent films, creating a cinematic universe that garnered a devoted fanbase. One of the defining features of Mewes' performances is his ability to inject humor into the most audacious and outlandish scenarios. Jay's over-the-top antics, profanity-laden dialogue, and distinctive catchphrases quickly endeared him to audiences. Mewes' comedic timing and uninhibited delivery brought a refreshing and unapologetic energy to the screen, making Jay an iconic figure in the world of stoner comedies. While Jay may be his most recognizable role, Mewes' career extends beyond the View Askewniverse created by Kevin Smith. He has embraced a variety of roles in film and television, showcasing his versatility as an actor. His filmography includes appearances in movies like "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," and "Dogma," all part of the interconnected series of films set in Smith's fictional universe. Mewes' comedic chops have also been on display in projects like "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and the animated series "Clerks: The Animated Series."Beyond acting, Mewes has ventured into the realm of podcasting, further connecting with his fanbase. Alongside Kevin Smith, he co-hosts the popular podcast "Jay & Silent Bob Get Old," where the duo candidly discusses their lives, struggles with addiction, and the behind-the-scenes stories of their film careers. Mewes' openness about his personal challenges, including his battle with substance abuse, has resonated with listeners and added a layer of authenticity to his public persona.Mewes' journey to sobriety has been a significant and inspiring aspect of his life. Overcoming addiction, he has become an advocate for sobriety and mental health awareness. Sharing his experiences through various platforms, including interviews, podcasts, and public appearances, Mewes has demonstrated resilience and a commitment to personal growth. In addition to his work with Kevin Smith, Mewes has continued to explore new opportunities in the entertainment industry. His eclectic career showcases his ability to balance comedic performances with genwww.betterhelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.

On this very renowned episode of One and Done TV, Ian and John don't give a damn about their reputations with the 1999 cult classic NBC teen comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks created by Paul Feig and executive produced by Judd Apatow! Head under the bleachers with the burnouts and dweebs of McKinley High School, made up of some very familiar faces such as Linda Cardellini, Jason Segal, and Seth Rogan. Arguably the most famous One and Done, this show explores the lives of teens navigating weird and wild moments involving feathered haircuts, a Pink Floyd laser show, mathletes, and beyond! Ian clearly wants to know “whodunnit” with See How They Run and Confess, Fletch. John achieves a momentous goal…Below Deck. The hosts discuss Mike White's writing (see also: One and Done TV's episode on Cracking Up), Biff from Back to the Future (see also: One and Done TV's episode on Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous), and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? On this very View Askewniverse episode of One and Done TV, Ian and Silent John return to the Quick Stop to review the ABC adult animated comedy from 2000 - Clerks: The Animated Series! Kevin Smith's 1994 black and white comedy cult classic Clerks gets a cartoon makeover, with characters Dante, Randall, Jay, and Silent Bob finding themselves in wacky situations stuffed with self-referential humor. Ian taunts John with his recent theatrical viewing of 2001: A Space Odyssey. John appreciates the Savage Steve Holland ski-jerk film Better Off Dead. John and Ian remember renting this show from Blockbuster, but aren't sure whose couch they laughed themselves stupid on! With this week's theatrical release of Clerks III (aka Clerks 3), the hosts revisit some of Kevin Smith's other work (Dogma, Tusk, and the like) and discuss the uncanny similarities between The Sandlot, Stand By Me, and Animal House! Clerks got animated! Developed for television by Kevin Smith, Clerks: The Animated Series is an adult animated sitcom based on Smith's 1994 comedy film of the same name. Luke and Jae head back to the year 2000 to check out the six episode series set in Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse. The series follows the misadventures of New Jersey slackers Dante Hicks and Randal Graves. Popular stoner duo Jay and Silent Bob also appear in the show. Starring the voices of Jeff Anderson, Jason Mewes, Brian O'Halloran, and Kevin Smith.
This month, Jerome and Kevin talk about a beloved animated series that came around at the wrong time. The trials and tribulations of the show making it to air and certain behind the scenes decisions are what make its history so fascinating. Before getting into those details, the hosts discuss their introduction and fandom of Kevin Smith, where that fandom stands today, and the live-action Clerks television pilot. They then discuss all six episodes, their favorite and least favorite moments, the wild array of guest voices, and where they believe it stands in Smith's overall oeuvre.
In the eighty-sixth episode we explore the Appeal to Fiction Fallacy, starting with Trump confusing a movie with real life around the southern border, and comparing himself to a notorious movie villain, before Don Jr misunderstands Orwell. In Mark's British Politics Corner we look at Boris Johnson attempting to pepper his speech on how great we all are with allusions to Greek mythology and muppets. In the Fallacy in the Wild section, we check out examples from Clerks (The Animated Series), Be Reasonable, and I Am Legend.Jim and Mark go head to head in Fake News, the game in which Mark has to guess which of three Trump quotes Jim made up.Then we talk about the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident that cost the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, which right wingers have used to attack Alec Baldwin. And finally, we round up some of the other crazy Trump stories from the past week. The full show notes for this episode can be found at https://fallacioustrump.com/ft86 You can contact the guys at pod@fallacioustrump.com, on Twitter @FallaciousTrump, or facebook at facebook.com/groups/fallacioustrumpAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Caroline spoke with David Mandel - the showrunner of the HBO hit series VEEP - about his amazing career trajectory, his strong opinions on writers' rooms, and their mutual obsession with Robert Caro. VEEP follows Selina Meyer, the Vice President (and, later, President) of the United States, and her team as they attempt to make their mark and leave a legacy without getting tripped up in the day-to-day political games that define the American government. The Emmy- and WGA Award-winning series – which is an adaptation of the BBC satire THE THICK OF IT – is currently in its seventh and final season. Before David Mandel’s tenure as VEEP showrunner, he was a writer, director, and executive producer for CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Prior to that, he wrote for the seventh, eighth, and ninth seasons of SEINFELD; for the 18th, 19th, and 20th seasons of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 2003 film adaptation of THE CAT IN THE HAT, and was a writer and co-creator for CLERKS: THE ANIMATED SERIES. -- Read shownotes, transcripts, and other member interviews:www.onwriting.org-- Follow us on social media:Twitter: @OnWritingWGAE | @WGAEast Facebook: /WGAEast Instagram: @WGAEast

Since it was Tim's 37th birthday (in a row), and since we already covered Kevin Smith's filmography back on our immortal 37th episode, what else could we do but celebrate the animated version of Clerks for our unprecedented Episode 69? (Niiiice.) Since Greig and Jared finally caught up on this series (that only aired two episodes before being banished to the freezer that is straight-to-DVD-purgatory), sit back as Tim takes us on a magical journey that transcends the boundaries of two-dimensional storytelling, takes a pitstop to lament the downfall of Meat Loaf, yet rises like a Phoenix to make you wonder whether or not the misery in your life is manifest, of the machinations of Leonardo Leonardo... Or a third thing. Just check out the show. It's Tim's birthday. Hosted by: ‘Bear who drive car' Tim Agne (@timagne). Featuring: ‘Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13) and ‘SilentJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by: James L. Venable and Meat Loaf.

Today we talk about the cult classic Clerks the animated series. Well we actually mostly just talk about our love for Kevin Smith for 40 minutes. Shut up, you'll love it. Find us online! @witacartoon on facebook Witacartooncast@gmail.com
It did! And ABC put it on television! Well, part of it, anyway. We dish on all on six episodes of the very-clearly-doomed-to-fail series. Is it a lost classic? Embarassing, homophobic juvenalia? Why not both?
In Part 2 of our discussion of Kevin Smith and David Mandel's ill-fated animated follow up to the cult classic film, we talk about each of the six episodes produced in depth to discover what went right and what could have gone better.
In part 1 of our discussion on the animated small-screen follow up to Kevin Smith's cult classic film Clerks (1994), Kyle and Drew talk about what might have kept viewers from tuning in to the 2 episodes that aired on ABC in May of 2000 and why the network hated it so much. The guys also get on the phone with series co-creator, executive producer, and writer David Mandel (SNL, Seinfeld, Veep) to talk about how being first isn't always best and what plot lines we might have seen if the show did go on.
Welcome to Gone Too Soon! It's the podcast where we revisit great TV shows that were cancelled before their time. Please enjoy this promo for our upcoming season with clips from our episodes where we discuss shows like FREAKS AND GEEKS, CLERKS: THE ANIMATED SERIES, and FIREFLY. We also have snippets of our interviews with actor Tom Wilson, who played Coach Fredricks on Freaks and Geeks; and co-creator, writer, and executive producer of Clerks, David Mandel. Each discussion will be broken over two podcast episodes. In the first, we will discuss the show in general - its history, main themes, and what may have led to its downfall - and feature our discussions with our special guests. In the second, hosts Drew and Kyle will go on an episode-by-episode deep dive and review of the series full of spoilers. So if you haven't seen the show, make sure you check it out before moving on to this episode. We hope you enjoy the show!
Ben and Zane were investigating the inside of their freezer when, wouldn't you know it, they got locked in and had to reminisce about a show they vaguely remember watching once. They called up Nate and Craig to join them in this Secret Room and, rather than have them help the Cartoncasters out, they all talked about pop culture references for a while. Also they own a store now.

Ben also goes into his archives to share a great story from his interview with ‘Alphas’ and ‘Jeff 1000’ creator MICHAEL KARNOW about the writer/producer’s time on THE CHEVY CHASE SHOW. We are huge Kevin Smith fans, so it is only natural that we talk about one of his greatest creations, Clerks: The Animated Series. This show had so much potential.
We discuss "Clerks: The Animated Series," based on Kevin Smith's 1994 film "Clerks." We also get into Ryan's humiliating Kevin Smith story, Matt's surprising baby career, Ricard's HILARIOUS anecdote about his cousin, and a rousing game of Name That Toon.
