After several years working in the banking industry in NYC, Joe pivoted to the business-side of sports. Early on he had management roles with the Canton-Akron Indians, Toledo Mud Hens, Chicago Bulls, and Detroit Tigers. In 1998 he returned to the Toledo Mud Hens as VP and General Manager and was instrumental in elevating minor league sports in the Toledo region and nationally. He was the force behind Fifth Third Field being built in downtown Toledo. Several years later he joined forces again with community leaders to expand downtown redevelopment in the form of the Toledo Walleye hockey team, Huntington Center, and entertainment district Hensville. The City of Toledo has consistently been rated one of the best places in the country for minor league sports. His ability to work with people and build supportive coalitions around transformational initiatives is reflective of Joe's dynamic leadership approach. His laser focus on the fan experience and bringing value to the community is driven by the question: How can we make things better? Floyd felt sad and ugly :( All of my very real fears of the dentist for 68% of my life. Braces, deep cleanings, teeth falling out. Terror. Subway took a popular item off the menu and people are disappointed. Campus Pollyeyes isn't open in Toledo yet because they need you! Pizza pizza pizza and more pizza. So that's why nothing's been going on at Fifth Third Field. And more COVID worries. Do we have our masks on. Alex is going camping. Yea, I'll watch the Floor is Lava. Can it be real lava though!?

Tom Nichols, the Voice and Media Relations Director of the Dayton Dragons, sits down with Lee to talk about his broadcasting career and the 2018 season at Fifth Third Field. The interview begins at 19:50.
In Dayton, Ohio with Jesse Goldberg-Strassler, calling the Lugnuts and Dragons one final time from Fifth Third Field!
Three seasons in the same city is never good if you’re a minor league baseball player. Dragons outfielder Narciso Crook put Fifth Third Field in his rear view mirror last week, but not before he sat down with Mike Hartsock in the latest installment of the “Stay Right There” podcast.
https://www.youtube.com/user/WrightStateU It may be the hardest thing to do in sports. But Wright State University slugger Gabe Snyder does it with a shrug and a smile - hit home runs. “It’s a pure feeling, you just swing through it and don’t really feel the contact,” said Snyder, who plays first base. Snyder has circled the bases more than any other Raider in Wright State history. On April 29 at Youngstown State, Snyder broke the school record, hitting his 43rd career homerun and his 14th this season. “I’ve never seen a player impact a program the way he’s impacted ours this season,” said Jeff Mercer, Wright State head baseball coach who played for the Raiders in the late 2000s. Snyder also owns the career RBI record at Wright State with 204 runs batted in. He’s only 15 RBIs away from his head coach’s single season RBI record of 74. “If Gabe is inexplicably benched the last few games we’ll know that Mercer is keeping an eye on his record,” Bob Grant, director of athletics, said with a smile. The Raiders are 31-14 overall and 18-6 in the Horizon League. The team has eight games remaining on their regular season schedule, including a battle with Northern Kentucky at Fifth Third Field in downtown Dayton. http://wright.edu/news If you happened to be part of the sold-out crowd at Fifth Third Field on June 24, you witnessed a powerful rendition of “God Bless America” during the Dayton Dragons baseball game. Wright State theatre studies majors November Jones, Christopher Layton and Nasir Peterson formed the singing group Soul’d Out this spring and had an opportunity that most groups dream about. “That was the first time that we’ve done something so big, it was actually our first performance,” said Jones. After hearing the group practice in a stairwell in the Creative Art Center, Stuart McDowell, artistic director of the Department of Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures, encouraged the singers to contact the Dayton Dragons about performing at a game. The team liked what they heard and booked Soul’d Out to perform during the seventh-inning stretch. “Wright State has that ability to touch students in the heart and give them the first time that they get out and spread their wings and fly,” said McDowell. “I have faith that we’re going to make it,” said Jones.
