100 games played, and things are looking a little iffy. The boys break down the Blue Jays series, Matthew rants about Justin Verlander, again, Ben calls out Logan Webb and Robbie Ray for being hungover, and they pick on instant replay. But let's face it, the break didn't solve the real problem: the offense. Our new cocktail podcast, The Perfect Sip, is on hiatus but new episodes will come some day, probably. (Yeah, it's taking a long time ... life, you know?) If you haven't listened yet, you can catch up here: https://the-perfect-sip.captivate.fm/listenSpeaking of cocktails, today Ben is drinking an Olallieberry Bourbon Smash while Matthew is drinking a Toasted Coconut Old Fashioned. Recipes below.Olallieberry Bourbon Smash2 oz Bourbon1/2 oz Simple Syrup2 Lemons wedges8-10 mint leaves1/4 cup OlallieberiesAdd the simple syrup, mint, lemon wedges and olallieberries to a mixing tin and muddle thoroughly. (If you are room challenged, muddle in stages starting with syrup and lemon, remove lemons add berries and muddle, and muddle mint last or not at all, it's going to get pulverized in the shaking anyway.) Fill your shaking tin with ice and shake until well chilled. Double strain into a rocks glass over cubed ice (crushed ice is traditional) and garnish with the mint spring and olallieberries on a cocktail pick. (Choose big one, the olallieberry has a weird anatomy making them hard to skewer straight through the middle.)(Toasted) Coconut Old Fashioned2 oz Bourbon1/2 oz Coconut Gum Syrup1 Dashes Angostura Bitters1 Dashes Black Walnut BittersOrange Peel for garnishTo make Syrup: 1/2 cup Demerara Sugar, 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar (Or 1 cup Demerara), 1/2 cup water, 1/2 tsp gum Arabic powder, 3/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut (toasted). Toast coconut over medium heat in a skillet. Add sugars and water to a small saucepan under medium heat and stir to combine. Once hot, add gum arabic powder and whisk until incorporated. Reduce syrup to low and add coconut and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and cool for at least an hour. Put in glass jar and refrigerate overnight. To make the old fashioned: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled rocks glass with a block of ice. Express orange peel over drink and drop in.#doitforginny

The 4th of July has passed, but there will be some fireworks in Atlanta in just a few days as one of the most electrifying events in baseball takes center stage. The Home Run Derby. A stacked field will arrive at Truist Park ready to put on a show. The eight contestants consist of Cal Raleigh, James Wood, Junior Caminero, Byron Buxton, Brent Rooker, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Oneil Cruz and Ronald Acuña Jr. Jake and Jordan have been bursting with excitement for this year's Derby, and now they break down the field and ultimately pick a winner. While those home run hitters are preparing to show off their power, the next great home run hitters might be waiting to hear their names called as the MLB Draft is just a couple of days away. The Washington Nationals have the number one pick, and coming off of a recent franchise overhaul, with the firing of their long-time GM and manager, they hope to take someone who will help carry them into the future. Jake and Jordan discuss this and chat about names to look out for in the 2025 MLB Draft. MLB has announced its top-20 highest selling jerseys, and to no one's surprise, Shohei Ohtani is at the top of that list. What is surprising is where some other players landed, including those who didn't make or fell off of the list.Last, but surely not least, everyone's favorite segment of the week is here. Patrick Bailey's walk-off inside-the-park homerun on Tuesday night is something that will be burned into Giants' lore for decades to come. Pagan's similar feat happened 12 years ago, and we still talk about it. This one was better. We open the episode discussing Bailey's round-tripper and how the Giants have picked themselves up after a horrific streak to end June. Getting swept at home by the Marlins and losing two of three to the lowly White Sox put them 9 games behind their rivals, but since then, they have won 6 of 8 and the Dodgers have lost 6 in a row, closing the gap to 5 games. Three Giants pitchers were selected to the All Star Game (Webb, Ray, Rodriguez) and the mid-summer classic will feature the ABS challenge system, which is eventually coming to the big leagues. Although Devers has been meddling in mediocrity since coming to SF (.225/2/9), Adames seems to be waking up, hitting .313 with a .910 OPS over the last 2 weeks. Justin Verlander is flummoxed, and although he isn't having a great year, it's not catastrophic. Even a pitcher with his stats (4.70 ERA, 1.41 WHIP) should have a couple of wins on a winning team. Yet, he is winless in 15 Giants starts. He'll tie the MLB record if he doesn't win his next start. However, the pen has blown 6 leads for him, and he has the second-worst run support of any starting pitcher in the bigs (26 runs in 15 starts). Heading into LA is big. The set up the rotation with Webb, Roupp, and Ray, but the Dodgers counter with May, Ohtani, and Yamamoto. They will be anywhere between 2 and 8 games back of the Dodgers after this series, a huge potential swing. www.torturecast.comfacebook.com/torturecast@torturecast
