It's early days on the full exegesis of Strike8 in light of Rowling's Shed tools, Lake springs, and Golden Threads, but there are encouraging signs. Talvez venham daí os usos poéticos, o esforço de dar trinta passos nalguma outra direcção antes de ser atingido por alguma caótica premonição, impor-lhe rimas de modo a dominar a respiração, avistando bárbaros, pedindo este ou aquele sinal. O que era suposto conseguirmos fazer dela? Derrotar o tempo, detê-lo de um modo encantador… derrotar a linguagem e o valor de uma sociedade existente…? Mas pertencemos já a um tempo que soa tão no futuro (dois mil e vinte e seis) e, no entanto, ninguém supunha que pudesse ser algo tão miserável e confuso, e as distâncias se medissem cada vez mais pelo apagamento, sendo que olhamos para as estrelas como sinais de trânsito frios, e os horizontes da ficção-científica deram lugar apenas a formas de usura calculada antecipadamente, enquanto o pequeno ecrã se multiplicou e nos segue por toda a parte, já não vomita o mundo apenas para dentro do quarto, mas, por entre a parada de zombies varada de spots publicitários, acelera tudo e no mais pequeno detalhe somos capazes de pressentir esse calafrio que nos provocam os escombros, a ruína das nossas existências, que cada vez se aproxima mais da superfície. Somos os mortos da guerra que amanhã irá rebentar. E em razão de uma convivência tomada pelo absurdo, no seio desta claridade débil, cada um de nós se desgosta e se entrega a um abandono pouco profundo, andando à deriva, investigando os próprios sonhos e, assim, lemos, escrevemos e conversamos, mas o que nos dizemos verdadeiramente? “Os loucos fazem parte de uma nação qualquer, e a sua linguagem, por incoerente que seja nas palavras, é sempre articulada em sílabas”, nota Edgar Allan Poe. De algum modo um excesso de sensibilidade, uma predisposição para se deixar perder, impede um tipo de levar uma frase até ao fim, enredando-se nela, preferindo não a deixar impor sobre nada o peso de uma sentença. Voltamos ao cuidado de brincar com as coisas… “Acaso nos lembramos de quão facilmente os nossos jogos poderiam decompor, reformar ou tornar a descrever a realidade? O procedimento mágico era sempre e em primeiro lugar a repetição: qualquer criança conhece o fenómeno a que os psicólogos chamam ‘saturação semântica', onde uma palavra é repetida até parecer esvaziada de sentido e se tornar apenas som – ‘repetir, monotonamente, uma palavra comum, até que o som, por força da repetição insistente, deixe de transmitir qualquer ideia, qualquer que ela seja, à mente', tal como descreve Poe na sua história Berenice” (Ben Lerner, “Ódio à Poesia”). A maioria de nós orientamo-nos menos pelo significado das palavras do que pelos sinais daqueles em quem aprendemos a confiar. Precisamos da voz dos outros para saber onde fomos ou estamos, aquilo em que nos tornámos ou quem costumávamos ser. Nunca deixámos de jogar ao quente e frio, ao Marco Polo. A razão da grande desorientação em que vivemos prende-se com esta coisa imensa que se interpôs entre nós. Pasolini, nos anos 50, mostrava ainda a sua confiança nas pessoas, afirmando que não se trata de que sejam estúpidas ou más, mas que tendem a ficar surdas. “O estrondo da máquina que puseram em movimento, e que as transporta para o precipício, é de tal forma alto que o choro distante daqueles que se encontram excluídos da máquina porque não têm bilhete nunca chega aos ouvidos ensurdecidos do agrupamento alegre.” Também é difícil levar a sério aqueles que poderiam ter alguma coisa para nos dizer de importante, de transformador, aqueles que são capazes de vislumbrar os contornos dessa coisa inaudita que há muito deixou de nos pedir licença, e que se introduz sem nenhuma timidez, mas de forma avassaladora, impondo-se pela devastação da realidade como a conhecíamos até ali. Aqueles que se dão contam disto, como assinala Poe, são muitas vezes os espíritos que arriscam passar por idiotas. “A faculdade de análise não deve ser confundida com a simples engenhosidade porque, enquanto o analista é necessariamente engenhoso, sucede muitas vezes que o homem engenhoso é absolutamente incapaz de análise. A faculdade de combinação ou construtividade, através da qual se manifesta geralmente esta engenhosidade, (…) apareceu em seres cuja inteligência era limítrofe da idiotia (…)”. Neste primeiro episódio de um ano que de modo nenhum consegue desentranhar-se da couraça enferrujada em que já nasceu, e que tão dificilmente exprime algo de novo, quisemos regressar a algo parecido com uma casa da partida, ou pelo menos uma zona de muitas confluências, um porto inseguríssimo onde um farrapo de Shakespeare se mistura com bactérias das mais antigas, vindas de toda a parte, um local coberto por nuvens de arquitectura instável, um sítio onde se pode ir ao encontro de muitos mais do que aqueles que por lá passam, enfiar as mãos pelos livros sem fundo, tocar esses reflexos mais e menos mortais, dependendo de quem olha de cada um dos lados. Uma livraria que é um comboio para sempre parado na estação, cheio desse riso dos porões, de um modo de corrigir os lábios pelo que se lê em páginas onde respiram tantos mortos e vivos, sem ser clara a diferença. Ali, espreitando à volta e através do Changuito, que trabalha no osso para nunca deixar de ser um mestre desta infinita e generosa cerimónia, entre outros textos e percursos que nos deu a ver, lemos um texto que é hoje um desses raros faróis que conseguem atravessar este medonho limbo crepuscular. “A Mitificação da Realidade”, de Bruno Schulz, autor do magnífico Lojas de Canela, abatido com duas balas na cabeça por um oficial da Gestapo numa rua do gueto da sua cidade natal, Drohobycz, isto para ajustar contas com um rival, um outro oficial nazi, que admirava os desenhos de Schulz e o tinha tomado sob sua protecção. “O essencial da realidade é o sentido. Para nós, o que não tem sentido não é real. Cada parcela da realidade vive consoante aquilo de que participa num sentido universal. Exprimiam-no velhas cosmogonias ao sentenciarem que ‘ao princípio era o Verbo'. Para nós o que não tem nome não existe. Nomear uma coisa equivale a englobá-la num sentido universal. Uma palavra isolada, peça de mosaico, é produto recente e resultado – já – da técnica. A palavra primitiva era divagação que girava em redor do sentido da luz, um grande todo universal. Hoje, na sua acepção corrente, a palavra não passa de fragmento, rudimento de antiga e integral mitologia. Daqui a sua tendência para se regenerar, repelir, completar-se para regressar ao integral sentido. A vida da palavra. A vida da palavra é tender para milhares de combinações como os pedaços do corpo truncado da serpente lendária, que se procuravam nas trevas. Este organismo complexo foi rasgado em vocábulos solitários, sílabas, discursos quotidianos; utilizado sob esta forma nova, fez-se instrumento de comunicação. A vida e o desenvolvimento do verbo foram arrastados pelo caminho utilitário, submetidos a regras estranhas. Mas há neles uma regressão, mal as exigências da prática abrandam, mal a palavra, liberta daquilo que a constrange, é abandonada a si própria e restabelecida de acordo com as suas próprias leis: tende assim a completar-se, a reencontrar antigos laços, o seu sentido, o seu primordial estado na prática original das palavras. Só então nasce a poesia. Poesia é um curto-circuito de sentido entre as palavras, inesperado fluxo de mitos primitivos. Utilizando as palavras correntes, esquecemos que são fragmentos de histórias antigas e eternas, que estamos – como os bárbaros – a construir a casa com destroços de estátuas dos deuses. Os nossos termos e os nossos conceitos mais concretos são velhos derivados seus. Nas nossas ideias, nem um só átomo deixa de descender deles, deixa de ser uma mitologia transformada, estropiada, alterada. A mais primitiva das funções do espírito é criar contos, ‘histórias'. A ciência sempre foi buscar a sua força motriz à convicção de encontrar, depois de fazer esforços e chegar ao cimo dos seus andaimes artificiais, o derradeiro sentido do mundo. No entanto, os elementos que utilizava já serviram e provêm de antigas e desmontadas histórias. A poesia reconhece o sentido perdido, restitui as palavras ao seu lugar, liga-as segundo significados vários. Manejado por um poeta, o verbo recupera consciência do seu primeiro sentido, se assim podemos dizê-lo, floresce espontaneamente e recupera, de acordo com leis próprias, a sua integralidade. Por isto há-de toda a poesia ser criação mitológica, tender a recriar os mitos do mundo. A mitificação do mundo não terminou. O seu progresso só foi travado pelo desenvolvimento da ciência, empurrado a uma via lateral onde vegeta porque se extraviou de sentido. A ciência não passa, também ela, de um esforço para construir o mito do mundo, pois o mito está contido nos elementos que ele utiliza, e não podemos ultrapassar o mito. A poesia atinge o sentido do mundo por dedução e antecipação, a partir de grandes atalhos e audaciosas aproximações. A ciência visa o mesmo objectivo metodicamente, por indução, levando em conta todo o material da experiência. No fundo, ambas procuram o mesmo. Infatigável, o espírito humano acrescenta à vida as suas glosas – mitos –; infatigável, procura ‘conferir um sentido' à realidade. O sentido é o que leva os homens ao progresso da realidade. É um dado absoluto, impossível de deduzir de outros dados. Não podemos explicar por que razão uma coisa nos parece ‘sensata'. Conferir ao mundo um sentido é função indissociável da palavra. A palavra é o órgão metafísico do homem. Com o tempo, a palavra fica congelada, deixa de veicular novos sentidos. O poeta confere às palavras a sua virtude de corpo condutor criando acumulações onde nascem tensões novas. Os símbolos matemáticos são um alargamento da palavra a outros domínios. Também a pintura é um derivado do verbo, do que não era ainda sinal mas apenas mito, história, sentido. Em geral, considera-se a palavra como sombra da realidade, como seu reflexo. Mais justo seria dizer o contrário! A realidade é sombra da palavra. No fundo, a filosofia é filologia, estudo profundo e criador do verbo.”

A menos de una semana para las elecciones en Extremadura, la última encuesta electoral que permite la ley, elaborada por GAD3 para ABC, sitúa a la candidata del Partido Popular, María Guardiola, con un 43% de los votos. Este resultado le otorgaría entre 31 y 32 escaños, quedándose a las puertas de la mayoría absoluta (33 escaños). Así lo ha analizado el presidente de GAD3, el sociólogo Narciso Michavila, en el programa 'Herrera en COPE', donde ha desgranado las claves de un posible vuelco electoral en la comunidad.El propio Michavila ha señalado que, aunque el pronóstico es un gran triunfo para Guardiola, la gobernabilidad sigue en el aire. "Está tocando la mayoría absoluta con los dedos", ha afirmado, anticipando que "si la campaña sigue así y no se le tuerce a Guardiola en esta semana, pues puede llegar incluso a los 34 escaños". She must become, if only temporarily, a narcissist to pass through Hades and return to the world of the Sun and to Cupid. The myth, in Jungian lights, is about her transcending the accidental self, here her feminine and sexual relation to Eros or Cupid, for “ego-stability” leading to “individuation,” ascent to the greater, immortal Self.Robin as resident psychologist and loving soul is the Psyche-cipher of the Strike mysteries. She differs from the relatively passive Human Beauty of the myth in her active and determined “struggle against the feminine nature,” her “What. I. Do!” She not only wrestles with her desires for domesticity and maternity in her thinking but stands up to Strike-Cupid in their Valentine's Day Street Fight and demands his respect or at least more considerate behavior. But she is still struggling with her difficulty to be the narcissist rather than the Great Mother when circumstances and her heroine's journey of psychological individuation demand that.Ink Black Heart: The Mythic Backdrop (10 September 2022, John Granger)What Rowling is depicting in Robin's journey through the events and mystery of Ink Black Heart include a trap set by Venus, one that takes Robin to a personal and professional underworld or hell, her survival and endurance of every temptation by her determination to be steely rather than empathetic, especially with respect to a certain “lame fellow” (!), and her re-surfacing from hell a changed person, one worthy of begrudging Venereal approval (or Zeus' intervention — Rokeby!).Ink Black Heart: Strike as Zeus to Robin's Leda and Cupid to Mads' Psyche (10 November 2022, John Granger)These traditional portrayals of the every person's human and divine aspects, soul and spirit as man and woman in dynamic, cathartic relationship — think Romeo and Juliet, Redcrosse Knight and Una, Cupid and Psyche — are perhaps, with her alchemical symbolism, sequencing, and coloring, Rowling's greatest literary ‘reach' and achievement in the Strike series, albeit one largely lost on her her vast reading audience. The deliberate conjunction-melange of archetypal psychology, mythology, and spiritual allegory in these novels is, especially in combination with her hermetic artistry, intertextual playfulness (Aurora Leigh!), and chiastic structures, testimony to the author being one of the most accomplished and challenging writers of the age in addition to the most popular (and least well understood, even by her fans).Hallmarked Man: Freemasonry and J. K. Rowling (7 February 2024, Nick Jeffery)The Royal Arch degree is unique in England for including the ceremony of “Passing the Veils” symbolising the path to enlightenment that a mason undergoes as he progresses in the craft. Given Peter Rowling's upward social mobility from working class apprentice to engineer and moving from the Bristol suburbs to middle class Tutshill, it isn't beyond reason to wonder if Peter might have been tempted by the social and career advantages that freemasonry might have offered him and exposed a young Joanne to some of the symbolism.Edinburgh, as well as being the home of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, is also home to if not the oldest lodge in the world, then at least the one with the oldest records. Rowling's ‘G-Spot' and ‘Triple Play:' The Lake & Shed Secret of Her Success (21 September 2024, John Granger)I want to try tonight to explain as succinctly — and as provocatively — as possible why I think Rowling's ‘Lake and Shed' metaphorical explanation of how she writes offers a compelling reason for both why she writes and why readers around the world love her novels the way they do. I call this her ‘G-Spot' and ‘Triple Play' because it is her point of singular genius, the defining quality that separates her from contemporary story-tellers, which involves ‘Shed' artistry of three particular literary tools, all subliminal, which work together to achieve her aims.The Hallmarked Man's Flood of Names, Characters, and Plots (22 September 2025, John Granger)Rowling's seven Shed tools — psychomachia, literary alchemy, ring composition, misdirection towards defamiliarization, Christian symbolism, mythology, and inter-intratextuality (writing about reading and writing) — are all about the transformation of the human soul by cathartic experience in the imaginative heart, i.e., our spiritual reorientation. These traditional tools alone don't do it, of course; her capacity for creating archetypal characters that we care about in profound fashion is what gives the tools their grip on the heart.But, if a writer uses these tools in his or her Shed, the game being played and its stakes are not in question. Everything Rowling has written to date, with greater or lesser success (largely dependent on her control of the final product, cough*Warner Brothers*cough), shares this aim. Her global popularity testifies that much more often than not she hits her target to the delight of her readers.I assume this was her aim in Hallmarked Man. It's early days on the full exegesis of Strike8 in light of Rowling's Shed tools, Lake springs, and Golden Threads, but there are encouraging signs. Use customer language to refine your messaging: Narciso completely redid Scalestack's website based on language extracted from hundreds of customer calls and podcast interviews. He emphasizes that "customers always have the best words" because they've lived the pain most deeply. Rather than relying on internal assumptions about positioning, B2B founders should systematically capture and analyze how customers describe their problems and desired outcomes. Cold email still works with enterprise buyers when done strategically: Scalestack's first major customer, MongoDB, came from a cold email to their SVP of Sales Ops. The key was targeting someone (employee #8 at MongoDB) who had an entrepreneurial mindset and curiosity about learning from vendors. Narciso's insight: enterprise operators often want to learn from startups tackling similar problems, whether to buy the solution or implement it internally. B2B founders should research target prospects' backgrounds and approach those with startup experience or operational curiosity. Podcasting as ABM for enterprise sales: Narciso uses his "Revenue Engine Masters" podcast strategically as an account-based marketing tool, targeting specific people at target companies rather than focusing on broad reach. After recording nearly 20 episodes, he's seeing inbound interest and using the content to extract messaging insights. The podcast also strengthens relationships with prospects and customers who participate. Isaías 45: 22, RVCLa palabra «selfi» entró de manera abrupta en nuestro vocabulario en el 2002. El 13 de septiembre de ese año, un australiano escribió en un foro en línea: «Borracho, celebrando el cumpleaños número 21 de un colega, me tropecé y caí de bruces, golpeando casi con los dientes unos escalones. Me hice una herida de un centímetro de largo en el labio inferior. Y perdón por el enfoque, era una selfi». Once años después, «selfi» fue nombrada palabra del año por el Oxford English Dictionary.Hoy es casi imposible ver una foto de la Torre Eiffel o de las pirámides de Egipto sin que la decore la cara radiante de alguien. Esto me recuerda a un cruel meme que decía: «Lástima que tu palo de selfi no es lo suficientemente largo como para captar lo ridículo que te ves usando un palo de selfi». Tanta fascinación por el «yo» nos recuerda el mito de Narciso, que se enamoró de su propia imagen reflejada en el agua.Hoy los «narcisos» abundan. «Vivimos en un tiempo donde las personas no quieren ser transformadas por un ideal superior, sino reafirmadas en su propia actitud. Cuando el valor supremo es "amarse uno mismo", el "así soy yo" constituye una máxima moral y la espiritualidad no es más que una sensación de bienestar, los sacramentos son un espejo ritual donde encontramos al dios de este siglo: la imagen de uno mismo».En un mundo desorientado, en el que miramos hacia abajo en vez de mirar hacia arriba, en el que adoramos lo creado en lugar de adorar al Creador, Dios nos llama a mirarlo a él, a colocar nuestros ojos donde realmente importa. De allí que las primeras palabras de la Escritura sean: «En el principio [...] Dios» (Génesis 1: 1) y no «en el principio yo».El Señor es el principio (ver Juan 1: 1), por eso Pablo nos invita a «fijar la mirada» en él (Hebreos 12: 2, NTV). Al mirar a Jesús, encontramos nuestra identidad y un ideal de lo que podemos llegar a ser. PPero,sobre todo, encontramos salvación. Hoy Dios te dice: «Mírame a mí y alcanzarás la salvación» (Isaías 45: 22).
