John, Finn, and Derek return to our Final Fantasy Retrospective after a brief hiatus... at the just the right time, because it's time to talk about one of the most universally beloved (if still at times flawed) entries in the entire franchise.
John, Finn, and Derek continue our Final Fantasy Retrospective, where we look back on all of the mainline numbered Final Fantasy games. Joined by The Escapist's Anthony John Agnello, the crew looks back on the various versions of one of the series' most definitive entries.

As teased at previously, John and guest host Marc Gonzales take on something of an intimidating task and devote an hour and a half to a freeform discussion on the juggernaut that is the Final Fantasy series. Typical topics like favorite entries are brought up, but expect tangents on other Square Enix games and JRPGs in general, the series' history and transition from Nintendo to Sony, observations on the cult of FF7, John's old tradition of discovering surprising voice actors throughout the series, what happens when an FF13 fan meets an FF13 hater, and Bubsy. Somehow, we keep bringing up Bubsy. Melons!2017 ist hier und endlich auch die 72. Folge Uncommon Taste! This week, we bring you our retrospective episode on the Final Fantasy series as a whole. We go through each game, highlighting our overall experience of each Final Fantasy. We discuss the evolution of the series as a whole, covering which Final Fantasies naturally led into another, and which ones were one offs. We discuss the outstanding audio, visual, and storytelling elements of the series, and also discuss the leap to online Final Fantasy games, and whether or not they should have been numbered entries into the series. Enjoy the episode, and here's to the new season of Ultima Final Fantasy! REMIX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUtJJLcQigw
Here it is! The moment that (some) of you have been waiting for! This is the big Nerds Without Pants love letter to Final Fantasy. Special guest Erika Szabo joins us once again to talk about a series that is near and dear to the hearts of everyone on the show. A word of warning: NWP busted out its super awesome Limit Break ability, and this show is a hefty 3 hour journey. I could tell you everything we talked about to entice you to listen, but I would end up writing a novel. From our origins to the series to what it means to each of us on a personal level to a huge discussion on the music, this episode has got you covered if you like (or used to like) Final Fantasy. You won't find much of the typical negativity that other shows usually heap on this series, but we do take some time to brainstorm on how to get the franchise back on track. Oh, and if you missed it, check out PixlBit's epic Final Fantasy Retrospective from last year. Hope you enjoy! Share with your friends that have fond memories of the series, and give us your thoughts on the show and the games in the comments below.
