From the edge of the Petrified Forest to the dramatic entry into Lindblum, this is one of the most exciting stretches of Final Fantasy IX. The most notable moment in this stretch is when Vivi discovers the dark secret beneath Dali. What would you do? What would you think? Would you think at all? Can you think if you are not? If you don't exist? All this and more will be tackled in the next hour and 23 minutes. Enjoy! And don't forget to become a part of our Patreon community if you have the means. Thanks for watching! Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we start a new game in our series on independent games with 2004's Cave Story. We briefly set the game in its time, talk a little about its developer, and then talk about the game proper. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: A couple of hours Issues covered: freeware vs democratized indie dev and publishing, Japanese independent development, an indie darling, likely antecedents, 2004 in review, the end of a cycle, standing out in a stacked year, sticking it out, breaking through onto Nintendo platforms, early independent success on the Switch platform, influences and what's in the mix, weapon leveling, more story than expected, characters and dialog, more adventure, having a mess of villagers, setting up mysteries, merging lots of elements into their story and interactions, a spike at the end, adding puzzle-y elements, keys and keys that are not keys, threads of characters and relationships, something that is more than a MetroidVania, a skill-based game, "you're a really good person," forgetting a console came out, having the opportunity to play off-the-beaten path games, not needing a map, the dangers of categorization, how the platforming feels, fear of skill-based need, becoming one with the controller, an emotional response, empathetic response, catharsis, building the dam and breaking it, graceful building, manipulation in art, can a movie version work vs the interactivity, shock in literary fiction. The way that the intro to this game is framed by a theatrical performance is absolutely brilliant. Once again, Sakaguchi displays his prowess in the drafting of yet another beautiful and captivating introductory sequence that holds our attention and immerses us into a new and exciting world in Final Fantasy IX. We discuss the beginning of this game all the way up until the ship crashes into the Evil Forest. For next week, play up to the arrival into Lindblum. The boys finish off their picks for their level 1-30 All-Star teams, discuss some favorite players, and talk through what improvements they would make to Blitzball. Taking a brief pause from the story walkthrough, Mark and Alex begin to dig into the massive amount of side content in Final Fantasy X. Discussed in this episode are the airship passwords and hidden coordinates, Belgemine and Remiem Temple, Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, and Baaj Temple. These optional areas contain the most powerful, and hidden, aeons which are well worth picking up! The boys also cover treasures and prizes found in these areas, which includes the ever-frustrating chocobo race at Remiem Temple. If you're searching for the beginning of the Final Fantasy X or IX series, check the quick info below!Start of the Final Fantasy X series is episode 43Start of the Final Fantasy IX series is episodes 6
The boys pick up where they left off in the story in their Final Fantasy X walkthrough! The crew heads back to Bevelle to confront Maester Mika and get more information on how to destroy Sin now that Yunalesca is dead. Mika does offer some details, but it is the fayth of Bahamut that finally fills in the majority of missing pieces. Yu Yevon was an age-past summoner that summons Sin from within, and once Sin is destroyed he uses the Final Aeon to give birth to a new one. With a new target in their sights, Yu Yevon, the party quickly devises a plan on the next course of action. If you're searching for the beginning of the Final Fantasy X or IX series, check the quick info below!Start of the Final Fantasy X series is episode 43Start of the Final Fantasy IX series is episodes 6

Nos vemos en el episodio 107.Música: Alan Wake - The Poet and the Muse.

We don't make the news; we merely report and dissect it. So it's not our fault that this week's episode focuses quite a bit on some older topics come alight, starting with a new Helldivers 2 postmortem. Developer Arrowhead's CEO recently gave an interview, displaying a surprising level of accountability and levelheadedness about the ups and downs of their mega-popular game. Then, we talk a whole lot about Nintendo, because literally half of our listener inquiries this week were on the topic of Switch 2. Switch's successor is a mere months away, and while there's no doubt a lot of excitement, there also seems to exist an unusual amount of skepticism, and even anger and animosity. Will Nintendo be able to capture its first generation-to-generation success story since NES and SNES? Or are we looking at more of the same-old same-old? After, we get into rumors of yet another The Last of Us-related re-release, a mysterious physical edition at a premium price, but with contents unknown. Have we had enough, already? Other news includes data on Xbox's publishing performance on PS5, fresh sales and player numbers for the likes of Death Stranding and Atomfall, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With the reveal of The Duskbloods on Switch 2 and because there's no Bloodborne news seemingly ever, is it clear that FromSoft has beef with Sony? Should we be worried about the survival of Ubisoft's studio Massive, and thus the future of The Division? Are physical game gimmicks getting awfully close to jumping the shark? How did we accidentally appear in a popular YouTube series about bad drivers? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement.

Welcome to the latest episode of Crystal Core Radio Podcast with your hosts, Brian and Chris. This week, we delve into the ever-evolving world of MMORPGs in 2025, focusing on major developments and upcoming trends that could reshape the genre. The episode kicks off with a deep dive into World of Warcraft's ambitious new player housing system. We explore how Blizzard aims to redefine housing in MMORPGs by leveraging advanced technology, addressing past challenges, and what it could mean for the future of WoW and its community. We also compare it with Final Fantasy XIV's housing system, highlighting potential strengths and drawbacks. Our hosts also reflect on the current state of MMORPGs as we discuss the shifting landscape with players moving away from games-as-service models back to more traditional MMORPG experiences. We examine how these changes could influence player engagement and community dynamics. We give special shoutouts to our live chat members—Edwin, Chemistral, Black and White Duo, and Postum—for their participation in the pre-show chat, enriching our discussion with live insights. In addition, the conversation touches on broader gaming topics, including the potential remakes of iconic titles like Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy Tactics, the challenges of content pacing, and how to balance new player experiences with veteran engagement in today's gaming ecosystem. Finally, delve into personal gaming experiences, as our hosts share thoughts on taking breaks, exploring new games, and finding the right balance in gaming lifestyles.

This has been an exciting week in Sacred Symbols World. We're riding high off of our two hour interview with ex-Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida, and we're eager to reminisce and reflect on it. (You can watch or listen for yourself on Sacred Symbols+.) But as far as news is concerned? Well, this week is a little slower than most, which is why we packed extra listener inquiries into the show, and still covered what was there: Fresh rumors of a Tony Hawk 3+4 Remastered Collection, leaker updates concerning Square Enix's remakes of Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy Tactics, clarity on HBO's seasonal plans with The Last of Us, the potential emergence of a major Rainbow Six Siege update, and much more. As usual, we then round things out with listener inquiries on a variety of subjects. What are our thoughts about the recent layoffs on the Marvel Rivals team? Does SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku run the risk of overexposing the Yakuza/Like A Dragon franchise? Why are many creators so eager to politically and socially alienate their audiences? Is Colin on the verge of converting to Islam? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. Thank you Square-Enix for providing this game for review! What a wonderful experience! Fantasian Neo Dimension feels like it could very well be a Final Fantasy game that fits perfectly in between Final Fantasy IX & X. The combat truly feels like an evolution of FFX's Conditional Turn Based Battle System! It's the easiest recommendation to ALL FF fans! Fantasian stands tall among the best RPGs to have come out recently! It has its flaws that we will talk about in this podcast but overall, this is sure to become a timeless game! Somehow, some way, we've made it to our 300th episode, and we did so without missing a single, solitary week between the first show in 2018 and today. We celebrated our milestone this past weekend with 500 listeners at a sold-out live show in New York City, and we're eager to reflect on what the experience meant to us. But the news marches on, too, albeit somewhat softly, and we'd be loath to ignore it. So let's delve in. The once-leaked Stellar Blade demo is set to be properly released on PSN by the time we publish, Embracer took a $800 million loss in selling Gearbox to Take Two, legendary game dev Shinji Mikami has founded a new team, Sony's Bend Studio seems to be going down the live service route, and more. Listener inquiries help us wrap things up, touching on topics like the golden era of RPGs, Dragon's Dogma 2's microtransaction drama, Nintendo's status as the ultimate gateway drug, and a listener too sick to come to Sacred 300 in NYC.
