Aurinko se vain paistaa ja podcast-vierailut jatkuvat! Kevätkauden toinen vierailija on muusikko, lauluntekijä, esikoiskirjailija sekä tietenkin innokas videopeliharrastaja Samae Koskinen! Jakson juontajana toimii tuttuun tapaan Niko Lähteenmäki. Samaella aikaa vievät tällä hetkellä lähinnä tuorein Call of Duty, Balatro ja roguelike The Bazaar, kun taas Niko seikkailee edelleen Final Fantasy XVI:n maailmassa.

PS This is Awesome: Episode 361Fred is almost finished with Final Fantasy XVI, while Jake just wrapped up Trepang 2! Now he's on the hunt for his next big AAA adventure. If you have suggestions, let him know!In this episode, we're diving into The Future of PlayStation. We reflect on how Sony has shaped the gaming landscape over the years, from introducing 3D graphics and CD-quality sound in 1994 to championing indie developers and story-driven single-player games. We explore key innovations like the DualShock controller, Blu-ray integration, and the rise of online services with the PS4.As for the future, what's next for PlayStation? Cloud gaming is gaining ground, but with live service games faltering, Sony might need to rethink its strategy. Could we see a move toward Early Access, more PC integration, or a resurgence of multiplayer modes in single-player games? Plus, we speculate about which franchises and studios—like Naughty Dog and Uncharted—should lead the charge. In news, the rumored State of Play in February has us wondering what surprises are in store. Meanwhile, Arken Age is out now on PSVR2, earning high praise for its combat despite some story critiques. The Until Dawn movie just dropped its first trailer, and it looks promising! On a bittersweet note, Sony canceled Bluepoint's live-service God of War project and Bend Studio's new title, but both studios remain intact. Finally, PlayStation Blog shared its top 10 platformers available on PS Plus, including classics like Jak and Daxter, Ape Escape, and Celeste. PS This is Awesome: Episode 360Fred didn't make it back to Metro Awakening—talking about Final Fantasy XVI last week gave him the itch to finally finish it, and now he's almost through. Meanwhile, Jake finally rolled credits on Metaphor: Refantazio! He gave MediEvil a shot, but it didn't really click. However, he picked up Resident Evil 4 Remake, The Messenger, and Trepang 2—so plenty to dive into next. We're also looking at what's coming up, with new releases like Arken Age, DreadOut: Remastered Collection, and Dynasty Warriors Origins dropping this week.In news, a trademark filing hints at a possible Ecco the Dolphin revival—whether that excites or terrifies you depends on how you feel about ‘90s underwater adventures. Meanwhile, PowerWash Simulator VR has been put on hold, which is a bummer for those hoping to deep-clean in first-person. Kojima is getting introspective, reflecting on his future as a creator while Death Stranding 2 enters a crucial development phase. Speaking of delays, Assassin's Creed Shadows is now set for March 2025, but a leaked DLC titled Claws of Awaji suggests Ubisoft has big post-launch plans.Sony is experimenting with “smell tech” for gaming—because apparently, immersion isn't complete until you can sniff the battlefield. More excitingly, Helldivers is getting a movie adaptation, something we speculated on ages ago. No new games for him this week—but big plans for next year. With 2025 just around the corner, we're setting some New Year's Gaming Resolutions! Fred's nearing the end of Metro Awakening (Chapter 10!) and wrapping up his journey with Darkest Dungeon 2, finally tackling the last confession. Jake? He's still deep into Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—on Game Pass, naturally. This week, we're diving into our PlayStation Wrapped for 2024! Fred and Jake both played 35 games this year, with Fred's journey starting with Final Fantasy XVI and ending with Darkest Dungeon 2. His top games include 90 hours in Darkest Dungeon 2, 39 hours in Helldivers 2, and 34 hours in FFXVI. Jake's list is, well, under wraps for now, but we know his 512 hours of gaming outpaced Fred's 285.Fred's role-playing gaming style saw him snag 263 trophies this year, with A Fine Hound from FFXVI as his first and The Last Confession trophy in DD2 closing out the year. No Platinums for Fred, but 8 Golds aren't too shabby. In the news, CD Projekt Red confirmed that Ciri will take center stage in The Witcher 4, though specifics about platform support remain under wraps. Mark Cerny hinted at a continued partnership with AMD for the PS6, and Amazon's Secret Level series has been renewed for a second season. It's a look back at an incredible year in gaming—join us for the full breakdown!By joining our Patreon community for ONLY $1.00 per month, you'll also enjoy these exclusive benefits:Early Access: Be the first to listen to our episodes as soon as they're ready. On this episode I render my verdict on Final Fantasy XVI, or 16 if you like, and my time with it. Note that I didn't say opinion, I said verdict. This game needs to go before some kind of court for something, I'm just not sure what. But I'll be happy to make my case for you in the episode. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/deleted-saves/support

Somehow, some way, we've made it to our 300th episode, and we did so without missing a single, solitary week between the first show in 2018 and today. We celebrated our milestone this past weekend with 500 listeners at a sold-out live show in New York City, and we're eager to reflect on what the experience meant to us. But the news marches on, too, albeit somewhat softly, and we'd be loath to ignore it. So let's delve in. The once-leaked Stellar Blade demo is set to be properly released on PSN by the time we publish, Embracer took a $800 million loss in selling Gearbox to Take Two, legendary game dev Shinji Mikami has founded a new team, Sony's Bend Studio seems to be going down the live service route, and more. Listener inquiries help us wrap things up, touching on topics like the golden era of RPGs, Dragon's Dogma 2's microtransaction drama, Nintendo's status as the ultimate gateway drug, and a listener too sick to come to Sacred 300 in NYC. From this show's perspective, there simply aren't that many rational targets of acquisition in PlayStation's sphere, especially with a tightening economy all around us. But there are two teams in particular -- Helldivers' Arrowhead and Stellar Blade's Shift Up -- that seemed like obvious potential marks based on Sony's historical activity. But with Shift Up about to go public in South Korea and Arrowhead's CEO publicly stating they aren't being courted, are we overestimating these teams' want to join the family? Or maybe it's on Sony? Or perhaps it's something else... So let's discuss. Plus: Ex-second party partner Deviation closes its doors, Embracer continues its sell-off, a trailer leaks for Insomniac's cancelled Spider-Man multiplayer game, Final Fantasy XVI's PC port draws near, and more. Then: What do we think of Sea of Thieves' success in pre-order on PSN? What does a "community manager" do? Are Trophies worth protecting? Did Colin's undying love of Long Island unite two star-crossed listeners?
