"Scream 4" is a commendable addition to the franchise that successfully balances nostalgia with a modern twist. It captures the essence of what made the original films so beloved while addressing contemporary issues within the horror genre. Although it may not reach the heights of the original "Scream," it offers enough thrills, humor, and social commentary to satisfy both longtime fans and newcomers alike. The film stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the "Scream" series and its ability to adapt to the changing landscape of horror cinema.

This week, DISASTERPIECE celebrates the 50th anniversary of JAWS by taking a look at its worst sequel, JAWS: THE REVENGE … A movie so crazy and misguided that a shark seeking personal revenge on the Brody family is the least of its problems.Join Steve and Justin as they navigate a sea of insane decision-making that includes (but is not limited to): a magic shark that can roar, Michael Caine in shorts, telepathy, extremely horny characters, and some of the craziest dialogue the boys have ever had to try to decode. Not to mention one of the most unjustified explosions in film history.Nothing in this movie makes much sense … except for the dollar signs in the producers' eyes. Luckily, when JAWS: THE REVENGE was released, audiences made it clear that they were “DONE-DONE” with the franchise, and let the descendants of Bruce the shark rest ... for now.BUY OUR MERCH! We've got our beers and have planned our yanks, which are our cranks, which, of course, are our pranks as seen in the 1991 sequel, Ghoulies Go to College! Actually, it may be Ghoulies III or could even be Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go to College; we're not sure but the important thing is we're bringing it to you. You'll hear how impressed we are with the number of knowable cast members, an immediate digression into the world of copyright law and Pat Riley for some reason and questions about who becomes or if anyone becomes a giant ghoulie that must be destroyed by the end of this film. Enjoy! Thanks to our monthly supporters Kate Lampe Daniel Prudhoe Steve Weiss Matthew Aldrich Edward Lankford Heather Sahami

They both have jobs working at the famous Clamp Tower for the Clamp Corporation which is run by famous billionaire Daniel Clamp (John Glover).....and life is pretty dull overall. In this episode of Drinks and a Movie, we're diving into the intense, blood-soaked world of 28 Weeks Later — the terrifying sequel to 28 Days Later that cranks up the chaos, suspense, and infected rage. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, this 2007 horror-thriller expands the universe of the Rage Virus outbreak with brutal efficiency, nerve-wracking action, and unforgettable imagery. We break down the film's opening sequence (one of the best in horror history), its haunting tone, and how it compares to the original.
While this installment attempts to capture the magic of its predecessors, it often feels like a shadow of what once was. We'll explore the film's self-referential humor, uneven pacing, and the challenges of continuing a beloved franchise. With a mix of nostalgia and critique, we'll discuss how "Scream 3" fits into Craven's legacy and whether it manages to deliver the thrills fans expect.

This is similar to July's Superman, which started out with the title Superman: Legacy. Gunn shared that he and his team do what he calls “premortems,” where they attempt to suss out issues with projects prior to release rather than reacting on the back end. The shortening of titles has come out of those discussions. In the same article, Gunn got candid about the state of Batman in the DCU and the complexities of navigating the character with Matt Reeves' adaptation in consideration or making it his own. Lastly, Gunn announced today that actor Tom Rhys Harries will play Basil Karlo/Clayface in the film set to be released in September 2026.Live action remakes continue to rule at the box office, with this weekend's How to Train Your Dragon capturing the top spot opening to a global $197 million. Justin and Steve are here to podcast and chew bubble gum. And we're all out of bubble gum…It's time for DISASTERPIECE to cover their first-ever video game sequel: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER, the worst entry in a beloved—and wildly offensive—first-person shooter franchise. A game in development for so long that many of the teens who weren't allowed to play the original had kids by the time it was released. But even though DUKE NUKEM FOREVER took almost forever to create, don't worry, kids—it's still packed with just as much crass humor, toxic masculinity, hyper-violence, misogyny, and good old-fashioned swearing as you remember. And if all of that seemed way too offensive to grown-ups in 2011, don't worry about that either—because the game was such a stinker, it killed the whole franchise.BUY OUR MERCH! You'll hear why this movie made the top of both our lists (at least until one of us changed our minds later), how we settle the confusion over baby ghoulie and whether or not he's also bat ghoulie and we delve into a not so deep conversation about why baby ghuolie is the chosen big ghoulie they must banish back to hell or at least into a really big hole. It's time to Ghoulie! Thanks to our monthly supporters Kate Lampe Daniel Prudhoe Steve Weiss Matthew Aldrich Edward Lankford Heather Sahami

Do you think money is the driver, or there is more story to tell?
