In a culture where the next generation faces more noise, pressure, and distraction than ever before, this message concludes the Honour series by calling us to honour and invest in them well. It reminds us that spiritual formation — not performance or perfection — is what shapes young people into lifelong followers of Jesus. We're called to guard, empower, and equip them as they grow, creating spaces where faith can be formed, questions can be asked, and their unique gifts can flourish in God's story.Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au
On Grandparents' Day, at Gateway Susan Elsmore reminds that getting older is not about becoming irrelevant but about embracing the privilege of passing on wisdom, faith, and encouragement to those coming after us. In this message, we explore why honour matters, how authenticity builds trust, what it means to be a non-anxious presence in an anxious generation, why we should celebrate the next generation even in their learning, and how faithful prayer leaves a lasting spiritual legacy. In a world obsessed with progress and novelty, we can easily overlook the wisdom of those who've gone before us. This message in the Honour series explores what it means to honour wisdom — the lived experience, faith, and insight carried by older generations. Drawing from Proverbs and Ephesians, it reminds us that wisdom is more than knowledge; it's a way of life learned through listening, humility, and walking well-worn paths together. When we honour those who have gone before, we don't just respect their years; we receive the gift of their wisdom, helping us walk the road of faith with greater understanding and grace.Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au

In a world that separates the physical from the spiritual, we're reminded that God created us as whole beings, with both body and soul vital to who we are. This message continues the Honour series by exploring how we are called to honour God with our bodies, drawing from Genesis and 1 Corinthians. It exposes how culture distorts both sex and the body, and invites us to rediscover God's design for holiness, freedom, and joy. To honour our bodies is to honour the God who dwells within them, allowing His Spirit to renew every part of who we are.Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au
Since the very beginning, we have been a community that has known the call to be a lighthouse in the city. In our words and in our actions, we have sought to be faithful to the command of Christ to shine a light. Having a place in the heart of the city to proclaim the truth of Jesus practically share the love of Christ through care and hospitality (e.g. care ministries and international ministries) has been central to our existence. And our deepest desire is that this will only continue to grow as we seek to meet the growing practical and spiritual needs of Brisbane. -----------Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au or join us on Sundays at gtwy.au/live
Kick starting our Honour series, Andrew Mayne explores what it means to value and affirm one another as members of the body of Christ. Looking at Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12, we see how God calls us not to compete but to compliment each other, to treat every person with dignity and worth, and to live as contributors rather than consumers in His church. True honour flows from humility - lifting others up, celebrating their wins, and sharing their burdens so that together we flourish and Jesus' name is lifted high.If you need prayer, we're here for you. This message opens our Honour series by exploring how we are called to honour marriage. Our world has simultaneously devalued the covenant of marriage and idolised the idea of it. Drawing from Genesis this message challenges the assumptions that marriage will complete us or that it's an outdated institution. Instead, we see that marriage is God's creation. A covenant designed for friendship, shared calling, sex and family. It's not the ultimate goal of life, but a reflection of God's love and a means of shaping us into His likeness.Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au
God has called us as his people to invest our very lives into the heart of the city. In a context where others are transient and transactional, we have been called to live our lives, raise up the next generations, buy homes and find work in and around the city. Our presence matters deeply, because we bring the presence of God. In our workplaces. In our schools and universities. In the restaurants and shopping malls. On the streets. Our presence causes the city to prosper. Our commitment to be a permanent presence in the city matters deeply. As we make the commitment to live and share our lives in the city, we are proclaiming the life-giving good news of Jesus.-----------Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au or join us on Sundays at gtwy.au/live
God's story has always been bigger than we can imagine, and at the centre of it all stands the Lamb. From before creation to the cross and into eternity, Jesus is not just a symbol of God's love, He is love. In this message from Derek Peters, we see how the Lamb of God weaves through the whole story of Scripture, showing us that God doesn't stay distant but joins us, redeems us, and invites us into His divine dance of love and unity.Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au

Writing to a church struggling under powerful forces, the last thing that you would imagine worthy of worship is a lamb! But that is exactly what is presented in John's vision. Again, utilizing this rich metaphor that is replete throughout Scripture, Johnpresents a lamb slain that makes a way for the scroll to be opened. What is this scroll? The book of life that records all names of those who are God's people. It is the death of the Lamb that makes a way for ‘persons from every tribe and language and people and nation'. This picture sets up a scene of absolute adoration, worship and praise. The death of Jesus has made a way. He is deserving of our worship.--------Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au or join us on Sundays at gtwy.au/live

This message continues our Revelation series by focusing on the Bride, the church, the people of God, adored, adorned, and devoted to Christ. Through John's vision we see that the Bride is not perfect, but she is deeply loved by Jesus, clothed in His righteousness, and called to live in faithful preparation for the wedding feast of the Lamb. Revelation reminds us not to trade away our fine linen for the false promises of Babylon, but to live as a people ready, set apart, and anchored in our first love. At the heart of it all is the question Revelation asks again and again: Who will you worship?Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and also online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au

We find in the early chapters that John's Apocalypse is a letter that is written to seven churches in Asia Minor, but also a letter to be read aloud for all (and all are blessed in reading 1:3). Indeed, these are words of encouragement and challenge from Jesus himself. The call is for the Church, the Bride (19:7-8), to remain pure in the context of temptation and persecution, and to ultimately be victorious (5:5-6). The church in the Roman empire was under intense pressure. The emperors (e.g. Domitian, Nero) demanded absolute and singular worship. To not declare ‘Caesar as Lord' carried with it terrible physical, social and economic consequences. This was a question of ultimate allegiance: worship the Christian God or worship the Roman cult.---------Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au or join us on Sundays at gtwy.au/live
Revelation has possibly become the most discussed and speculated on, if not the most controversial, of all books in the Bible. This is not that surprising, considering the incrediblyabstract literary images that are contained in this wonderful piece of writing. A four-week teaching series is not going to come close to answer all the questions that could be addressed, but what we can do is focus on the key characters and themes that we can find in this powerful book. Firstly, it is helpful to understand that Revelation is a mix of literary styles. It is a prophetic text following in the tradition of Old Testament prophets, it is an apocalyptic work full of symbolic imagery, and it is a situational letter written to a group of people living within the historical and societal context of the Roman Empire.-------Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online. For over 90 years, we've been committed to guiding people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.Learn more about us at https://gatewaybaptist.com.au or join us on Sundays at gtwy.au/live
Is the world spinning out of control, or is there something deeper going on?In this message, Tim Lucas opens a new series on the book of Revelation by exploring its central theme: worship. Rather than focusing on predictions or timelines, this teaching highlights the throne room of heaven in Revelation 4, where God is revealed as sovereign, eternal, and worthy of all worship.Tim explains the historical context of Revelation, the different ways it has been interpreted, and why it continues to speak powerfully to both ancient and modern audiences. He reminds us that despite the chaos we may see around us, God is still on the throne. This is not an end-times breakdown—it's a call to worship the One who was, who is, and who is to come.Revelation Is About Worship, Not Just End TimesGod Is on the ThroneHistorical Context MattersMultiple Interpretive LensesSpiritual Reality Beyond the PhysicalGod Is EternalWorship Is Central in HeavenContrast with Roman Emperor WorshipEveryone Will WorshipCall to Present-Day WorshipRevelation 4:8“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”---- Gateway Baptist Church meets across six locations in South-East Queensland and online.
