TALK TO ME, TEXT ITFrom the front seat of my car at 5:20 AM, I share some bittersweet news about my parking lot buddy Tim heading off to Alaska. We've had this unspoken competition about who arrives first each morning, and strangely enough, I'll miss seeing his headlights pull up in the dark. The weekend brought precious time with my grandson - that happy, smart little boy who never seems to throw fits (at least not at Grandma and Grandpa's house). But what really caught my attention this week was a fascinating archaeological discovery about Jesus's first miracle. A historian believes he's found compelling evidence for the true location where Jesus turned water into wine - complete with ancient Christian tunnels marked with crosses, a veneration cave complex used by pilgrims for centuries, and even space for exactly six stone jars as mentioned in Scripture. The physical connection to biblical history is absolutely mind-blowing.I've been watching the fifth season of The Chosen, and Jonathan Roumie's portrayal of Jesus continues to move me deeply. I find myself feeling strangely sympathetic toward Judas, watching his fundamental misunderstanding of Jesus's mission unfold. After attending Marjorie Taylor Greene's recent talk, her message about getting involved locally resonated strongly. Too many of us whisper "I don't want to get involved" when faced with challenging issues in our communities. Whether it's through social media or showing up at local meetings, we all have opportunities to stand for what we believe. What's your favorite miracle that Jesus performed in the Bible? I'd love to hear your thoughts.Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREE Thanks for listening! In this episode of the Jesus Everyday Podcast, hosts Andrew McPheron, Matt Thieman, Ethan Callison, and Ken Nienke dive into John 2:1–12—the miraculous story of Jesus turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana. Together, the team unpacks: • Why Jesus began His public ministry at a wedding • The cultural and spiritual significance of the miracle • What the six stone jars symbolize in Jewish purification • How this miracle points to the greater story of redemption and Jesus' ultimate “hour” • What it means for us to see the glory behind the sign You'll also hear behind-the-scenes highlights from VBS week, inspiring stories of students stepping up to serve, and how the church reflects the heart of Christ in both big and small ways. Key Verse: John 2:11 – “This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.”Whether you're a Bible teacher, small group leader, or someone wanting to follow Jesus more faithfully, this episode will help you grow in awe of Christ's presence and power. Join us as we continue our journey through the Gospel of John. We will be exploring Jesus's first great ‘sign' in this Gospel—turning water into wine. A remarkable miracle that speaks of Christ's abundance and transforming power. A miracle that moves His people from legalism to life, and from self-sufficient emptiness to joy-filled fulness. A ‘sign' that points beyond itself to Jesus's great act of pouring out His blood for you and me in order to cover our shame and unite us to Himself.

Jesus' first miracle wasn't healing, a resurection, or even calming a storm. It was keeping the party going at a wedding. Imagine being the servants tasked with filling the jars with water and offering a cup of water that would miraculously become wine. In this miracle, we are reminded that our lack makes room for God's provision, and our obedience precedes the miracle.

There are four accounts of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, but no one tells the story quite like John. In his up-close and personal account as one of Jesus' disciples, John gives us an inside look at the most intimate details of Jesus' ministry. During this series, we'll uncover stories about Jesus that are only found in the book of John, and we'll find that John's story of Jesus intersects with our own story. This series, JESUS, is part of a Five Year Journey we're on as a church, where we'll take a look at the life of Jesus through the eyes of each of the Gospel writers and stories that are unique to those gospels. Then in year five, we'll hear the crossover stories. Each year, this series will lead us up to Easter Sunday, when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and his promise of eternal life through him.Download the Study Guide: https://mountaintopchurch.com/events/jesus-john-the-storyteller/ Messages from the previous two years can be found at https://mountaintopchurch.com/watch/Learn more about Mountaintop Church at https://mountaintopchurch.com
Welcome back to week two of I'd Rather Be Reading season 16! Today on the show we have the lovely Grace Valentine, here to talk about her new book The Better Friend: 12 Truths to Shift from Shallow and One-Sided Connections to Vibrant Friendships, which comes out March 11. We talked a lot in season 15 about friendship, and the conversation is spilling over to season 16, too. Grace is a TEDx speaker, the host of the podcast “Water Into Wine,” and is the author of five books. She's a contributing writer for Proverbs 31 Ministries—which I can't get enough of—and Live Original. She is a native of one of my favorite cities, New Orleans, and is a graduate of Baylor, which is also where my husband graduated from! (Although, admittedly, we graduated a million years before Grace did.) Grace now makes her home in Atlanta and is earning a degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. In The Better Friend, Grace tackles shallow friendships and how friendships that don't serve us can negatively impact our lives; she talks to us today about signs we might be settling in friendship; how to prioritize friendship in our busy lives; how to maintain friends and make new ones; her thoughts on long distance friendships and friendship breakups; what she wishes everyone knew about friendship; and her faith, which very obviously means so much to her. Take a listen to our powerful conversation. The Better Friend: 12 Truths to Shift from Shallow and One-Sided Connections to Vibrant Friendships by Grace Valentine

One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey.. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 18th, and it's day 353 of our journey through the Scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother. As we explore the Gospel of John, chapters 2 through 4, we will witness Jesus' miraculous transformation of water to wine at Cana, His passionate cleansing of the temple, and His deep conversations with Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Our focus today is on recognizing that all signs point to Him—Jesus, our source of life, joy, and transformation. We'll conclude with heartfelt prayers and reflections, anchoring ourselves in the love of God. Join me, let's dive in and experience the Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: All the signs are pointing to him. There's the sign at the wedding feast. He turns water into wine. And here we see the sign of the healed boy simply at the word of Jesus. A boy is healed. The fever is gone. The prayer is answered. Christ is what all the signs are pointing to. And even at this season when we celebrate the advent of Jesus, may these days before the Christmas week remind us that all the signs are pointing to him. He is our wedding feast. He's the one who gives wine for our water. He's the one that answers our deepest heart's cry. All of it points to him. There are many more signs in this gospel. May our hearts be open to all of them. May we have eyes to see through this Advent season who He is, that He is Emmanuel. He's come to identify with all of humanity by becoming a human. That he is going to offer himself on behalf of all the world to free us, to rescue us, and liberate us, that we might experience the life that he shares with the father and the anointing of the spirit, that he has embraced us and included us into that very life and joy. The incarnation shows us the depth of his love and it also shows us the depths of your own value, how God values you, that you are deeply loved. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see that well, that I'll see the signs. They're all pointing to him, to what he's done and who we are in him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
