In this message from the Colossians series, Pastor Danny emphasizes that Jesus Christ is Lord and Jesus really is enough. Drawing on Colossians chapter 2, he discusses the meaning of being rooted and built up in Christ as the foundation of faith, warning against human traditions, philosophy, and other external influences that claim to offer hope or healing outside of Christ.Verses ReferencedColossians chapter 2Colossians 2, verses 6 and 7James 2:19Romans chapter 10, verses 9 and 10Genesis 3Genesis 3:8Matthew 28, verses 19 and 20John 14:6Colossians 2:7Colossians 2, verses 8-10Verse nine (referring to Colossians 2:9)Verse 10 (referring to Colossians 2:10)

The devil is real, and he's really dangerous. We dare not underestimate him. If ever there was a creature filled with hate, it is the devil. He's more evil than the worst villain in the most terrifying horror movie. I can't wait for him to be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). But until then, he roams about like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Have you ever wondered where God is active in the world around you? This message explores the principle of recognizing where God is already working and joining Him in what He is doing. Drawing from the book of Acts and the teaching found in "Experiencing God," we see that God calls us to be His witnesses. This might involve specific, sometimes unexplainable callings to a particular place or events, or it could be in the everyday moments and places right in front of us. Learn how God prepares the way, sometimes simply asking us to show up and participate in His plan. Discover practical steps for discerning God's leading and the importance of being willing to say, "Yes, Lord, I will rise and go," whether that means a distant mission field or ministering to those in your own communityVerses ReferencedActs chapter 8Matthew 28:19-20Isaiah 53:7-8Proverbs 18
In this episode, my friend and fellow mom + author, Laura Wifler, and I dig into a plethora of motherhood topics from a biblical perspective—listening to the Lord for direction in our callings, grief in unmet expectations, struggles which are hard but not bad, and even those which are hard and bad.Through it all, a central theme emerges: We are not victims of our circumstances, and Christ did not rise from the dead for us to wallow in our troubles—real and heavy though they are. Or, to put it more succinctly: Jesus > pity parties.Make no mistake, though, Laura knows whereof she speaks as she has walked a challenging road as a mom to a child with significant disabilities due to a rare condition. And yet, her hope is in the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth—and yours can be too, my friend. After all, as Corrie ten Boom put it, “There is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still.” Sponsor Info:Voetberg Music AcademyCheck Out Voetberg Music Academy HereCode: misformama20Guest Info: Laura WiflerInstagram - laurawiflerSite - laurawifler.comCheck Out kidlitlab.com If You Want To Write Books With Her!Bible References:Matthew 22:36-40Hebrews 12:2Psalm 232 Corinthians 12:7-101 Thessalonians 5:16-17Matthew 5:10-12Nehemiah 8:10Psalm 34:8Matthew 10:29-31Psalm 27:131 Peter 2:23Philippians 2:6-12Luke 11:2-4James 2:14-26Hebrews 4:15Isaiah 53:3Matthew 28:201 Peter 5:7Jeremiah 17:9Romans 8:37Links:The Gentleness ChallengePenny Reward SystemPaint & ProseM Is for MamaPenny Reward System

Finding joy in trials is a transformative spiritual principle that shapes our character and deepens our faith. When we face difficulties, whether financial, social, or personal, these challenges serve as opportunities for spiritual growth and maturity. Through the process of testing, our faith becomes stronger, much like a sword being forged through heat and cooling. The key to navigating trials successfully lies in drawing close to God, seeking His wisdom, and maintaining unwavering faith while staying connected to other believers.Key Verses:James 1:1-8Matthew 5:48Acts 1:14John 7:5Key Takeaways:Faith is tested through trials, which produce endurance and maturity.Understanding the context of scripture is crucial for proper application.Joy can be found in trials as they shape us into Christ-like maturity.God provides wisdom generously to those who ask in faith. The church community is vital for support during times of trial.Reflection Questions:What does it mean to you that 'faith is not faith until it is tested'?How can we find joy in the trials we face?In what ways can trials help us grow in our faith? Why is it important to understand the context of the Book of James? How can we discern whether a trial is meant to be overcome or endured? What role does the church community play in helping us through trials? How can we ensure our worship is sincere and costly? What practical steps can we take to draw closer to God during difficult times?Practical Application:This week, identify a trial you are currently facing and ask God for wisdom to understand whether it is a trial to overcome or endure. Seek support from your church community and commit to spending time in prayer and study of God's Word.Support the show

Listener Question:@recipefordisaster asked:“Can I show the love of Christ but still harbor bitterness in my heart? Can the two coincide?”This episode tackles a profound and relatable question. Here's what we discuss:Can God Use Imperfect People?Yes! Scripture reminds us that no one is perfect (1 John 1:8). God used imperfect, flawed people throughout history—and He can use us, too.Can God Use Rebellious People? While God can use anyone, He often chooses those who choose to follow Him (Matthew 16:24). A heart of humility and surrender is key to being fully used by Him (James 4:6).The Danger of Bitterness:Resentment is deceptive. As St. Augustine said, “Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”Bitterness, described as a root in Hebrews 12:15, doesn't just harm you—it defiles those around you.The Power of Forgiveness:Jesus offers forgiveness, which abolishes bitterness. We forgive not because others deserve it, but because Christ has forgiven us (Hebrews 12:1-2).Forgiveness is the antidote to bitterness and the key to freedom, grace, and peace in Christ.Practical Help:Clingy sins like bitterness can be difficult to shed. That's why God gave us the church—a community of believers to run alongside us in the race of faith. If you're struggling, find a godly mentor or friend to help you forgive and let go of bitterness.

What aspect of Operation Christmas Child do you appreciate? Why? 2. We looked at the storyline of the Bible and discovered our God is a missionary God from the beginning to the end. Missions isn't just one aspect; it is at the very heart of Who He is and what He does. Is this a new idea to you? Explain. 3. We looked at several passages to help tell the story of the Bible (see the sermon outline). Did one or two of these passages stand out to you? How does that passage relate to the bigger story of our missionary God? 4. What are some ways we should be impacted when we consider that God's heart for missions is good news for us? In other words, when we realize we are among the “nations” and Jesus was sent as our Savior, how should we respond? 5. When we realize missions is at the heart of Who God is and what He does, we should be impacted so that missions becomes central to who we are and what we do. Would you say missions is merely one aspect of your life, or is missions at the heart of who you are? Explain. 6. How could missions become more central to your life? What next steps can you and your Home Church take so missions becomes more central to who we are and what we do? (For example, we have been including a “Mission Highlight” at the bottom of the discussion questions. Your Home Church can spend some time reading this and praying.)Mission Highlight - Pray for the Unreached: The Hui in China The Hui people of China, numbering around 13.7 million, are primarily Sunni Muslims with roots tracing back to Arab, Persian, Mongol, and Chinese ancestors. They speak Mandarin with some Arabic and Persian influences and are spread across nearly all of China's counties, known for their skills in business and various trades. Despite widespread persecution of Uyghur Muslims by the Chinese Communist Party, the Hui have not faced the same level of oppression. There are no known gospel movements among the Hui, with less than 0.1% identifying as Christians. An estimated 275 workers are needed, at a ratio of 1 worker per 50,000 people. Prayers focus on opportunities for outreach, spiritual conviction, and a desire for Jesus among Hui families, with the hope that they would embrace Christ and share the gospel across their communities. Tap here to send us a message! Many in Christianity shy away from addressing the reality of eternity, yet the Bible clearly teaches that every soul will spend eternity in either Heaven or Hell. This sobering truth reveals the weight of every decision we make in this life. While the enemy seeks to lead us into everlasting torment, Jesus has lovingly prepared a place of eternal joy for those who follow and obey His Word, where they will dwell with Him forever.11/17/2024 - Sunday MorningScriptures:Matthew 13:47-51Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23Revelation 21:8Matthew 10:28Revelation 20:10Matthew 25:41Revelation 14:11II Thessalonians 1:9Acts 1:25Matthew 25:41John 14:1-2Revelation 7:9Revelation 21:21Romans 8:22, 24-25I Thessalonians 4:16-17Revelation 22:17

In this episode we talk about how the Bible is a means to the end of knowing Jesus more intimately, and we look at one specific practice we can do to approach the Scriptures this way.NET footnote on Psalm 23:6 and the word "follow" (or "pursue"): "The use of רָדַף (radaf, “pursue, chase”) with טוֹב וָחֶסֶד (tov vakhesed, “goodness and faithfulness”) as subject is ironic. This is the only place in the entire OT where either of these nouns appears as the subject of this verb רָדַף (radaf, “pursue”). This verb is often used to describe the hostile actions of enemies. One might expect the psalmist's enemies (see v. 5) to chase him, but ironically God's “goodness and faithfulness” (which are personified and stand by metonymy for God himself) pursue him instead. The word “pursue” is used outside of its normal context in an ironic manner and creates a unique, but pleasant word picture of God's favor (or a kind God) “chasing down” the one whom he loves."Scriptures referenced:Matthew 15:8John 17:3John 6:63Psalm 127:1Psalm 27:8Matthew 11:28Psalm 138:3Psalm 9:1-2Psalm 8:3-4Psalm 1:2-3Psalm 18:28-29Psalm 51:10Psalm 30:11-12Psalm 13:1-6Psalm 10:1Psalm 27:10Psalm 7:1-2Psalm 46:1-3Psalm 147:10-11Psalm 143:7-12Psalm 63:1-4, 8Psalm 139:1-16Psalm 23**CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS**I said the guy who disciples me had me write on the front cover, "I read this book to know Jesus more."
