Special Guest Star Graham Kolbeins joins us to discuss Season 3 Episode 4 of Dickinson, "This is my letter to the world," written by Ken Greller & R. Eric Thomas and directed by Rachael Holder. Well, Dickinson finally did it. One of us cracks and cries at the thought of Emily Dickinson coming out to herself and celebrating her love for Sue Gilbert, and how she continues to walk towards a horizon, knowing she will never get there- just like the rest of us queers. The other of us meanwhile retains a stiff upper lip (he is British after all). Break out your Foreshadowing Dresses and get ready. Other questions include: is Higginson an opportunist out of his depth? Is Walt Whitman too much (absolutely not)? Are we all the heirs to the queer legacy, walking towards our own horizons, knowing we will never get there?
Currently working as the Executive Director of the Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia, Anne Ishii is a living legend responsible for translating and producing the first works of Queer manga that hit the west, including her translation of Gengoroh Tagame's "My Brother's Husband", which landed them an Eisner Award (among many others) and cementing Tagame's work as a pioneering breakout hit both in Japan and overseas. In this conversation Anne and Pax chat about her time living in France, how she first found Tagame's work, her time starting a massively successful clothing brand with Graham Kolbeins, and much, much more. You can find her at AnneIshii.com, or on social media @ill_iterate. We cross the halfway mark of Season 2 of Dickinson with the help of a special guest star, queer filmmaker and writer Graham Kolbeins! Join us as we discuss salon culture, the Weirdo Night queer arts scene of Los Angeles, concepts of sexual and gender identities through history, and whether or not The Scarlet Letter kinda sucks. Kyle learns the proper pronunciation of "ribald" and we wonder whether Emily's luscious pea might be a symbol for something else... As always, you can reach us at edictsonedicks@gmail.com. Emily's poem for this episode is a tiny little anthill that explodes with the force of a volcano: Forbidden Fruit a flavor has That lawful Orchards mocks— How luscious lies within the pod The pea that Duty locks!

Good morning to you, whatever time of day it is in your world. Alonso, Matt, Ben and I are excited to introduce you to our new incarnation, the Breakfast All Day Podcast. It's still the four of us (whenever we can arrange our schedules to get in the same room with each other), reviewing films, occasionally discussing movie news and enjoying the same banter we've had for the past nine years. For our first episode of the new year, we look back at the best and worst of the old year. We also play catch-up with the Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly comedy “Holmes & Watson,” which Alonso says is terrible, and “Escape Room,” which is shockingly a lot of fun for a January horror movie. And we squeeze in a bit of movie news as Ellen DeGeneres lobbies for Kevin Hart to get his Oscar hosting gig back. So thanks again for sticking with us. We'll keep doing this throughout 2019 and beyond, and we'll be adding more features as we go along. You can find us on social media here: Twitter https://twitter.com/bfastallday Facebook https://www.facebook.com/bfastallday/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bfastallday/ Endless thanks and hash browns to Graham Kolbeins for designing our new logo.
Guest Graham Kolbeins (co-editor, "Massive: Gay Erotic Manga and the Men Who Make It") joins the Super Gays for a discussion of Gengoroh Tagame's "My Brother's Husband." Come with us on a journey through the queer manga of Japan, from Bara to Shonen-ai! Produced by James Kelly.
