I got to spend my lunch break with Joshua and Jeanette Johnson of Wall Crawl, an indoor photo studio concept with 20+ photo walls allowing you to take photos yourself or with their professional photographers. The concept of Wall Crawl was realized when Joshua and Jeanette realized photography has changed dramatically in recent years, and yet the photo studio concept remains almost completely unchanged. Wall Crawl combines three different business models to solve common photography problems, and provides a photo studio experience of taking a tour of colorful walls and backdrops (a wall crawl) taking photos. We discussed how the idea came about, the importance of doing your market research when introducing a new concept. How they try and balance it all and the important of customer feedback. Talking about death and grief is a bummer. You may feel like skipping this topic altogether. But guess what? We've all been grieving this year, because we've all lost something that was important to us during the pandemic. Maybe you missed visiting family, date nights, or going to school. Perhaps you lost a job, or a sense of financial stability. The term “little losses” has recently made a debut to describe all the things we've lost or had to give up since the COVID-19 pandemic started. But the thing is, when we don't take the time to acknowledge and feel the grief that comes with these losses, we can't accept them and move forward. We get stuck in grief, in the same way that some people get stuck grieving when someone they love dies. Lower Columbia Hospice social worker Jeanette Johnson counsels with people at the end of their lives and their families. Helping people work through grief is a big part of her job. In this episode, "Hands on Health" host Felicia Struve and Jeanette explore the process of grief, how to recognize it in yourself and others, what we can do to help, and the silver-lining of grief. # # # "Hands on Health" is the podcast all about living your healthiest life on the coast. If you have a question or a comment, please call 503-338-4654 to leave us a message. We may include your question in an upcoming episode! This week on Becoming Fearless, meet Jeanette Johnson, author, and Founder of J’s Everyday Fashion. As an “OG” blogger, Jeanette wanted to explore fashion options more realistic and budget-friendly than what fashion magazines had to offer, and to be positive, uplifting, and inclusive for the everyday woman. When the recession hit and she lost her job, she began to monetize her blog, relying on her strong readership. Within a year, she was making five times what she’d been earning at her old job. Join Annie and Jeanette as they talk being inclusive, balanced, and vulnerable, and fitting faith into creativity.
What is it like to have over 1.25 million visits to your blog every year and over 250,000 followers on social media? My guest is well-known fashion blogger Jeanette Johnson, who started her blog way back in 2010, before influencer marketing was a thing. Since then, her business and brand have skyrocketed and Jeanette has done lots for visibility: blogging, social media, TV, speaking, and now a book. In this episode, we talk about the shifts in influencer marketing, how Jeanette makes decisions about what brands to work with, and what brands look for when partnering with someone. Jeanette shares the online bullying she experienced in the first few years of her blog and how she dealt with it (it’s crazy to me how mean-spirited people can be!). We also get into a discussion about the downsides of “fast fashion” and what good alternatives are if you want to make more conscious buying decisions while still enjoying clothes and fashion. About My Guest: Jeanette Johnson is the creator of J's Everyday Fashion, a budget-friendly, down-to-earth style blog that encourages women to have fun with fashion! With more than one million readers annually, Johnson’s blog is the winner of ShopStyle's Best Everyday Style in 2016, and Sunshine Awards Orlando's Blog of the Year in 2013 and 2015.
