It is estimated that American adults consume 10-15g of fiber/per day and the RDA for adult women is to consume up to 25g and men up to 38g. As a whole, we are about halfway to where we need to be. We know fiber contributes to overall health and wellness, keeping you fuller for longer, aids in regular bowel movements, lowers cholesterol and stabilizes blood glucose levels. Did you know that consuming fiber leads to reduced levels of anxiety and depression, increased mood stabilization, weight loss and management, improved cognition, nutrient absorption, and decreased risk of colon cancer? When you eat fiber, it feeds the good bacteria in your microbiome, which in turn produce compounds called short-chain fatty acids, or postbiotics, and they are pretty important and fascinating. Women in menopause would greatly benefit from increasing their fiber intake for this reason alone.I have invited Ashley Koff to share her expertise on this topic to help you better understand what short-chain fatty acids are, why they matter to midlife women, and how to include more fiber in easy ways. It's not the sexiest topic, but it's a must-know for menopausal women.Ashley Koff is an award-winning personalized registered dietician and nutrition expert. For over 25 years, she has helped people identify optimal food choices to support their overall health. She coined the terms “Qualitarian” “INFObesity," and the mantra “Better, Not Perfect” and created the only existing definition for Better Nutrition to help people better understand what's better for them. She has appeared on shows, such as Good Morning America, Today Show, The Doctors, and The Dr Oz Show. Designer Linda Hayslett has a strong fashion and entertainment background. A lot of her inspirations comes from her experience working at companies such as VH1, Allure, W, Details & InStyle Magazine. She lived and worked in New York City for many years soaking up the electric vibe of the city. After working in fashion on the east coast, in 2003 she made a decision to move west and become an Angeleno. Linda planted roots in Los Angeles and started to absorb the west coast atmosphere. She worked with a well known celebrity stylist and assisted in styling celebrities such as Hillary Swank, Sandra Oh, Charlize Theron, Heather Graham and more.   Her passion in creativity led her to go back to school and get a degree for Interior Design at FIDM. After graduating Summa Cum Laude in Interior Design, Linda became interested in construction and planning. While Co-Designing on projects with other designers, Linda created LH.Designs.   From her connections and experience in the industry, she adds an arsenal of skills along with her talents. With her knowledge, she has infused a warm touch that is often missed when clients hire only a contractor or architect for their project. She realized that offering services that tailor and integrate the designer with construction at each level of building, from concept to completion, was the best way a person would truly get the lifestyle experience that they are looking for. By infusing a construction team with design, LH.Designs can uniquely make a client's project not only aesthetically pleasing but can raise the property's value higher than expected. https://www.lhdesigned.com/ https://www.instagram.com/lhdesigned/

Under Justine's direction, ELLE Australia became known for its publishing innovation, championing of women, diversity of talent, and brave and globally celebrated cover executions. Justine is known for her sometimes amusing, sometimes provocative, generally self-indulgent editor's letters, and for her speaking appearances, where she's discussed everything from the demise of fast fashion to ethics in artificial intelligence. Justine was recently appointed Editor-in-Chief at INSTYLE Australia as well as published her own book Semi-Gloss, which pulls back the glossy facade of magazines. Cullen traces her life and lengthy career in the beauty industry, from her days as a 16-year-old in 1990s Sydney longing to appear on a magazine masthead to landing at the very top as Elle Australia's editor-in-chief in 2013—a glamorous role that proved so gruelling she left five years later. [2:22] Everyone who donates $25 or more, as well as ongoing contributors, will be entered into a drawing to win a 90- or 60-minute reading with April, registration in one of her courses, or a beautiful astrology posted donated by Patrick Blasa of Tha Elegant Universe. It's gorgeous! To be entered in the drawing, you must make your donation no later than Mon. Sep. 12, 2022, at 11:59 pm Pacific time! [3:38] If you can't contribute $25, April is also inviting donors of only $10 or more to her special episodes for the Equinoxes and Solstices. The September Equinox episode will be released on September 22nd, and will give you a comprehensive look ahead at the coming three months. [4:07] And if you can't contribute financially, that's okay! April shares some ways to help the show for free! [5:04] Podathon week gives April time to give the Moon a little extra attention. The day's Moon sign describes the tempo and pace of the day and the way we cope with things emotionally. [5:35] Today, the Moon finishes up its journey through Capricorn with a trine aspect to Uranus (in Taurus) at 2:23 am PDT; a sextile to Neptune (in Pisces) at 11:21 am PDT and a conjunction to Pluto (in Capricorn) at 2:43 pm PDT. The Moon will then be Void-of Course for six hours before entering Aquarius at 8:41 pm PDT. This morning could provide a helpful environment for adapting to change, especially in your work and career plans. Try giving in a little bit more to your intuition. The Void-of-Course Moon aspect to Pluto can be more challenging emotionally, but it could also be an excellent time to examine routines that may need to reworked. More about the Aquarius Moon tomorrow! [7:02] Today's Big Sky Astrology's guest is Maressa Brown! Maressa is a journalist, author and astrologer with nearly two decades of professional experience with writing, reporting and editing lifestyle content.  If you've read an astrology-related article in Parents Magazine, In Style Magazine or Shape, it was almost certainly written by Maressa.  She is based in Los Angeles and her first book, Raising Baby by the Stars:  A New Parent's Guide to Astrology, will be published by Artisan Books in February 2023. [8:04] What does your Moon sign say about your parenting style? Maressa is a proud Moon in Virgo cat mama! [9:04] Maressa shares insights gleaned from her kitty parenting style and from observing friends and family members who have welcomed little ones in this world. Your Moon sign can indicate how you nurture and want to be nurtured. You can use your Moon and your child's Moon to understand the give-and-take of this nurturing relationship. [9:58] With her Moon in early Virgo, Maressa feels like she's very cerebral but also thoughtful and sensitive to detail. Acts of service, such as helping and researching health topics (very sixth house!), are very much a part of her nurturing style. [10:52] April's Moon in Virgo mom advised little April to clean out a drawer when she got upset. It was all about focusing on the here and now. [11:34] How can a parent really think about the child's Moon sign to help them understand their moods or their needs?  Maressa explains how a child's Moon can be thought of as the emotional compass. Their Venus sign can show how a child relates to others. Maressa's book goes into much more details with these topics. [12:40] For example: A Moon in Libra (ruled by Venus) child might feel very nurtured by beautiful surroundings and indulging in all things artistic. Caring, nurturing and security are some Moon keywords, and the Moon's sign in your chart describes how you will perform those functions. [13:24] An Aries Moon baby may love connecting over high energy activities, including competition or even arguing! Aries thrives on being somewhat unsafe, doing new things and pioneering new trails. If that sounds like a weird mix with the security-loving Moon, well, people contain multitudes and can be contradictory, and this can be seen in the birth chart. [14:47] In Maressa's book, parenting experts offer tips on how to hold space for and nurture Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable signs. [15:48] What about the whole process of conception, pregnancy, bringing a new child in to the family?  What might the Moon tell us about that? [18:24] Not only is Maressa coming out with a book and planning a wedding, she's also writing the fall astrological guide and monthly horoscopes for InStyle Magazine! Look for it on Apple News. The upcoming Equinox, Mercury retrograde and eclipses will be covered. Get ready to hit the reset button this fall! [21:39] Sign up for Maressa's mailing list at her website to receive updates about her book and other projects. Her book Raising Baby by the Stars: A New Parents' Guide to Astrology  will be released in February 2023, but it's available for pre-order now. So pre-order a copy for your favorite parents-to-be and make Maressa's publisher very happy! Pre-order from Amazon.com! Welcome to the Flow and Flourish Podcast. This is what I like to call a “sister-friend” community, which is the safe space to talk openly and honestly about the challenges we face while managing the competing priorities between our personal and professional lives. Many of us are either in corporate, an entrepreneur of a combination of the two, on top of being moms, wives, caregivers, big sister's or just the go-to person in our circles of friends and families. Having all that responsibility can leave you overwhelmed and depleted if you don't take inventory of where you're at on a regular basis. In today's episode, I talk with my mentor, the one and only, Patrice Washington, about how she's making history all over the world! In 2020, SUCCESS Magazine named Patrice Washington one of 12 Inspiring Black Voices in Personal Development and she continues to be consistently called on for her expertise by national media. As an award-winning intuitive author, transformational speaker, hope-restoring coach, and conscious media personality, Patrice is committed to teaching a holistic approach to life while redefining the term “wealth” back to its original meaning, “well-being.” Patrice got her start as “America's Money Maven,” a widely-known favorite personal finance expert, but has since expanded her mission to encourage people to chase purpose, not money. She uses her Certification in Financial Psychology to help the masses get beyond budgets and credit reports and dive into the heart of why we behave the way we do with money. Through her Spirit-led teachings and intuitive guidance, Patrice empowers her community to look at life through the lens of abundance and opportunity, instead of lack and scarcity. As host of her award-winning “The Redefining Wealth Podcast,” Patrice has built a thriving international community of high-achievers committed to creating a fulfilled life through balancing their careers, home, health, and personal finances. Featured on Forbes.com as one of 15 Inspiring Podcasts for Professionals of Every Stripe," and highlighted by InStyle Magazine, SUCCESS magazine and Entrepreneur.com, the Redefining Wealth Podcast boasts over 10 million downloads and counting. Patrice shares with us about: Shifting from America's Money Maven to Chasing Purpose How to give yourself permission to live the life you desire The true meaning of wealth outside of just money After you've listened, I invite you to connect with us on social media. I love to hear how this is helping you, so make sure you tag me on Facebook or Instagram with your favorite takeaway from the episode. As a Capacity Coach, my philosophy is that when you flow effortlessly, you flourish tremendously. And when you do, it allows you to show up in excellence in all the areas of your life. Because I've been in your shoes, I am excited to be your guide on this journey. We do have those pockets of time that could be dedicated to ourselves. I think it's important to ask ourselves what we do in those moments."12:15 Yasmine: "It can get really hard when you are literally holding everyone else and feel like no one's holding you. The invitation is to ask yourself what it would feel like to allow people to figure out how to deal with their own issues, to maybe not have access to calling you after a certain time, to give yourself the attention and energy that you're pouring into everyone else."23:02 Yasmine: "Whatever it is that you identify as, it's so important to question it because sometimes we're limiting ourselves by these ideas of what we think we have to be. And it may not actually be fulfilling what we want to be in alignment with."33:27 Yasmine: "The reason that we want to have space for the people, places, and things that we love is so that when we connect to people, we experience the joy of vulnerability. We experience the joy of connection. We experience the joy of being in a relationship with people." 33:42 Yasmine: "If I struggle with my worthiness, then I'm also going to struggle with believing that the people I'm in a relationship, truly want to be here."Please leave a five-star review for the Get Loved Up Podcast.
