Tony TC Hale - Bio-individuality & Kick Your Fat in the Nuts On this podcast, we discuss Bio individuality and kicking your fat in the nuts with Author, podcaster, Coach... Tony "TC" Hale: Professional comedian turned natural health practitioner, T.C. Hale (aka Tony), put together this series of books in order to bring health and wellness into a new light… a new non-boring light. He wanted to bring his experience as a touring comedian into a subject where comedy has not been welcomed in the past. The question is, why not? Why can’t we be entertained while we learn something new? Why can’t learning about physiology be as fun as watching your uncle Mitch wrestle with a live water sprinkler while he’s drunk? Tony recognized the need to bring some funny to the health & wellness world when he was stricken with his own health concern. With twenty-three doctors and specialist only making him worse, he decided to begin his own research. After diving into literally hundreds of books on health, nutrition and how the body really works, he noticed every book had one common denominator… boring writing. The information within the books was incredibly fascinating but would it kill ya to keep me awake long enough to finish reading one chapter? Hence, the Kick it in the Nuts™ series was born. Don’t be mistaken, the title is funny and who wouldn’t want to kick their major health concern in the nuts if they had the chance? But, in this series, we won’t be discussing how to fight any symptoms, conditions, or diseases in any way. If you want to cover up a symptom, you can see any doctor for that. Instead, we’ll be talking about why these symptoms actually come about, why your body chemistry is allowing these symptoms to show up, and how to adjust what you’re doing, eating and shoving down your gullet, so that your body has a chance to return to its natural state. You would be amazed at what the body can correct on its own if you just give it a chance to work it’s magic. Understanding how to give your body a little push in the right direction can make all the difference. Are you ready to learn the secrets Keto Decoded member Donna used to lose 2 full pants sizes in only 3 weeks? Stay tuned to this episode of Chat the Fat because we’re breaking down all of the big victories Donna has had since learning how to keto the right way for her big results. Donna is a 48 year old nurse who resides in South Carolina with her husband and two girls. She began following keto on her own in January of 2019. While she did have some initial success, it was slow going and she continued to struggle with common digestive issues. After struggling to lose her first 20 pounds, Donna decided keto was just like all of the other diets she’s tried in the past that wouldn’t work for her. She eventually regained everything she lost. Still, she decided she didn’t want to give up on her health, so Donna continued to research all of her health diagnoses, which included pre-diabetes, hyperthyroidism, fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure and irritable bowel syndrome. In her research, she came across TC’s book Kick Your Fat in the Nuts and finally found many of the answers she’d been searching for. Even though she works in the medical industry, she finally realized the doctors were only masking her symptoms, so she began following the protocols in the book to learn how to quit covering up the symptoms with medications, and get to the root of what caused her health symptoms. And she's had pretty amazing success. In episode 68 we talk about: Donna’s 30 year struggle with weight loss and all of the approaches she tried along the way Digestive struggles Donna had that made keto difficult, including constipation and an anabolic imbalance Why Donna previously struggled with keto and what made her new approach different How her family and doctors she worked with didn’t necessarily approve of her lifestyle until they saw her big results Donna’s biggest keto game changer to date that finally made the weight seem like it was just falling off How eating more food helped Donna get better results Links Mentioned in episode: Digestion Course Keto Decoded Keto Challenge How to Succeed on Keto Without Really Trying

Even though we’re all about keto, and have multiple keto courses we’ve developed, and even a keto cookbook we’re working on, we want to make sure you understand that we don’t think keto is right for every person and their body chemistry. But if its not, many people can simply fix some issues to set themselves up to succeed on keto. We’ve all heard about crazy amazing results with keto, both with weight loss and health improvements. But Do you know someone who has failed on keto? Are you possibly that person? Today we’re going to talk about imbalances or bodily malfunctions that can make it very difficult to thrive on Keto. We’ll also help you figure out if these issues are a problem for you and also how to fix them. Keto is a great plan for weight loss and health benefits, but that doesn’t mean keto is right for everyone who attempts a low-carb, high-fat plan. Taking steps to work with your body can make a keto plan right for you. We chat reasons why low-carb didn’t work for Nissa after trying different plans for several years: Nissa had trouble digesting high fat foods after years of yo-yo diets and over the counter medications. She spent too many years eating processed diet foods, so her body cried out for more processed foods instead of the real food that would help her progress. You need stomach acid to break real food down, which eating processed diet food doesn’t promote. You don’t need to give up every processed food today, but we talk about how to get more real food into your plan for better success. We talk about signs and symptoms that you may not be digesting fat well. Sometimes adding more fat to your keto diet can lead to weight gain. We talk about the reasons this may happen. We talk about the importance of electrolytes on keto, but improving this problem can be more than taking an electrolyte supplement. We touch on other imbalances that might make following a keto diet more difficult Keto isn’t a quick fix plan. Those who go into keto with this attitude will have a difficult time on a keto plan. We talk how carb cravings on a keto plan are related to digestion. Today’s guests are the team at Elite Level Performance in Colliersville, TN, owner John Nelson and trainer/natural health practitioner, Mandy Macri. I originally met John at the first Track/Football Consortium in Lombard, Ill, and have since had some great conversations with him on holistic health, Be Activated/RPR, Jay Schroeder training ideas, and more. John Nelson brings over a decade of experience and expertise to all clients. He has a Masters Degree in Health & Sport Science, and is also a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist & Personal Trainer. Mandy Macri joined Elite Level Performance in 2012 after 20 years in the health & fitness industry. Mandy has a degree in Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech, and is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. Mandy has her Natural Health Practitioner Certification from Trinity School of Natural Health, and is currently completing her dissertation to receive her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Trinity School and Natural Health. One of the most interesting things that piqued my interest in what John, and Mandy were doing at ELP was John talking about the relationship of muscle testing to the holistic (nutritional, psychological) aspects of the athlete in getting longer lasting results of muscle activation and strength in things like hip extension, flexion, etc. Much of the muscle testing and related corrective systems we see today will deliver fairly temporary changes. The modalities and total integrative approach at ELP really sets what John and Mandy are doing apart, and as we learn more about the connections of the human body, we can become more effective coaches and athletes. Today’s episode is all about the relationship between nutrition to athletic function, with many facets of both also discussed individually. Today’s episode is brought to you by SimpliFaster, supplier of high-end athletic development tools, such as the Freelap timing system, kBox, Sprint 1080, and more. Key Points: John and Mandy’s backgrounds, and the formation of Elite Level Performance Physical, neurological and nutritional assessments of athletes at ELP Critical physical assessments for athletes in the ankle and hip A summary of the RBTI (Reams Biological Theory of Ionization) in performance assessment Common physical deficiencies in athletes John and Mandi work with Aspects of digestion in physical performance John’s training philosophy Quotes “A commonality I tend to find is basically an overload of the system in too much sugar, too many electrolytes, and an inability to process out those proteins” “If your body cannot send and receive information the right way, it is going to start to compensate” “Our kids know that Gatorade is not the best choice” “PH is how fast things are moving through your digestive tract” “I think just getting the physical component is a cop-out when you are not addressing the true origin of the (muscle weakness) situation” “Protein is extremely important, but is also the hardest thing for your body to break down.” “Just because you chew, swallow and something comes out the other end doesn’t mean all was good, and with protein especially” “A simple enzyme deficiency might be the only thing standing in your way between making the gains you want and staying where you are” “Most of the standard American diet is going to push you too acidic, or too fast, pushing things through the system too fast for good absorption.” “If a person is chronically not activated in their psoas or glutes, then there is something internally going wrong” Show Notes A simple book recommended to be post-recording by Mandy was “Kick Your Fat in the Nuts”, which goes into aspects of digestion that was discussed in the show. It is a very interesting and eye opening read.
