Crypto, Drugs & Rock n Roll...what a way to close out 2021! The guys were joined this week by the one and only Rob Kolar. This was a "bucket list" conversation for DD as he's been a fan of Rob and his band KOLARS for quite some time. This engaging and thought-provoking conversation touched on Rob's unique upbringing & musical journey, ayahuasca & psychedelic exploration, expansion of consciousness, blockchain & crypto currency, NFT's, the metaverse and this thing called life. BS was off this week spending Huddy's college fund in Legoland so Connor O'Gorman, fellow podcaster and all-around great guy, was in the co-pilot seat. Music for this episode by KOLARS!!!
Kory Allred, PhD PLS EI has taken his passion for land surveying to levels many of us strive to achieve. Having worked on the private side for almost 20 years, his passion for the profession has led him to academia and the position of Land Surveying Program Director @ Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. Kory takes this role and the influence he has on the future of land surveying very seriously. Even though he is a White Sox fan, Kory and Dilfy Dilf still remain friends. The Safety Apparel Safety Share touches on staying sane during these trying times! Producer Jake wants to inhabit Mars. Big Shoots has an odd infatuation with Disney. Dilfy Dilf is in a shitty mood and may have a new career Instacarting. Please support your local restaurants and small businesses while appreciating first responders and healthcare workers. Neil Garity has been working in the land surveying profession for close to 30 years while William Hittle for just over 4 years. We get some great perspective from two guys that are at very different points of their careers. Neil is a Project Surveyor for Atwell in Chicago and William is a Crew Chief for Red Plains Lender Surveys in Oklahoma City. Both being fans of the show happen to be in AZ so we figured we'd get them on a show and see what happens. The result was a great conversation that we hope you will enjoy as much as we did. We also found out that FootGolf is an actual sport and that joining the Geoholics Fan Club is easier than you think. Music for this episode by KOLARS.
After an overview of the new Tame Impala album, Marleah and James recap Saint Motel (with KOLARS), who they saw at Webster Hall on 2-13-20. Marleah introduces James to Shirley Bassey and can’t get enough of costume changes. James dislikes frequent clap-a-longs, and is in the camp that everything Saint Motel does is meticulously planned (true??). Both Marleah and James love when a band makes a cover their own. We offer the shot for you to executive produce an episode, where we cover *any* show you want in the NYC area (and even have you guest on the show if you’d like)! Jake McKinley is the “Director of Player Development Initiatives” for the Milwaukee Brewers and has a great story to tell. He is the definition of persistence and resilience. Not to be confused with Producer Jake…Baseball Jake literally volunteered the first 8 years of his coaching career while working for 4 different teams in three different states! He did not get his first coaching paycheck until his 29th birthday…to say he was/is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals is an understatement. We discuss all facets of baseball, some life lessons and what it takes to be successful doing whatever it is you're passionate about. Big Shoots was in heaven as you can imagine AND he received a special surprise during the show. We also had a couple special guests pop in that made it one of the best shows yet. Karl Obergh, PE started at the bottom (literally) and worked his way up to the position of President and CEO of a successful civil/survey consultant. He has been working in the A&E industry for over 28 years and shares his recipe for successfully building a sustainable company culture. Karl courageously talks about his passion for finding a resolution to mental illness and the affects it has on the homeless population. This week's safety share focuses on equipment security, Kent talks about his new favorite professional sports league and sous chef Bailee fills us in the latest Social Hall news. Dana Klett, PLS & Sarah Burgi, PLS have a combined 30 years of experience as land surveyors. They share what it's like to work as professional women in a predominantly male environment. We learned that the phrase “I'm living the dream” actually means “put a gun to my head”, safe sex is this week's safety share and Kent gets called a DILFY-DILF. Music for this episode by KOLARS!
On Tuesday we're previewing Season 4 of Gritty Birds. This week's interview is with constantly touring married master duo Kolars. I met with the group while they were in Boise in 2017. They are infectious, not just in personality, but also their intense stage set up. A mix of tap, drums and sultry guitar and vocals, they're one of my favorites. Find out more at grittybirds.com

Melissa Cornelius is the Executive Director of the Arizona Board of Technical Registration (BTR). She has been in this extremely challenging role since 2013. Hailing from the Boston area where she received her undergraduate degree from Brandeis University (home to the Fighting Judges and Ollie the Owl), Melissa ventured West shortly thereafter and obtained a law degree from the University of Arizona. With all of the obstacles that she and her staff face on a daily basis, Melissa stays steadfast in her quest to do what's best for all of the professions the BTR regulates. As registered professionals in the State of Arizona, we owe Melissa a debt of gratitude for all that she does behind the scenes to maintain the integrity of our chosen career(s). Music by KOLARS.
On the latest episode of the Music Connection Podcast, Randy Thomas, Arnie Wohl, Mark Nardone and Anita Gevinson hang with Lauren Brown and Rob Kolar aka KOLARS. Their music is described as "Desert-Disco" and "Glam-a-Billy". Rob writes, sings, and plays guitar, Lauren drums & tap dances atop a bass drum and... they're married (to each other!) Come join us to find out how JAWS & KOLARS are related, and meet two incredibly talented yet very humble musical artists!
This week on the show, Z. talks to Rob Kolar and Lauren Brown of the theatrical space-rock duo KOLARS. Sure, many husband and wife bands try to stand out in their own way, but Rob and Lauren take it one step further. They're both multi-talented multi-instrumentalists who create a sci-fi-inspired, jangly, joyful strain of roots rock that sounds much bigger than two people. Sometimes you just have to hear something to believe it.
This episode is all about KOLARS Los Angeles based KOLARS could honestly credit the road as their home since this duo is one of the hardest working and touring bands I have come across. Since our chance encounter at Starry Nites music festival in Santa Barabara two years ago this group has continued to blaze their own trail not only in America but all across the world. Supremely honoured to showcase their tunes to you. Enjoy and grab your tickets when they roll into town, which they enivitably will no matter where you are.
On Part 2 of our Gasparilla Music Festival coverage, we set up live in the Replay Guitar Exchange Tent for conversations with Eric Tessmer (1:11), Mountain Holler (12:27), Kolars (24:32), Shankh & Friends (32:56), Brother Cephus (42:48), The Underhill Family Orchestra (51:49), and Beartoe (1:08:40). Also, we meet Jessica O’Connor from Mic Drop Music and our intern Kasia tells us about the patience of the elderly. -- More Podcasts: Episode Archive Subscribe to Cigar City Radio: iTunes | Spotify | Android | Stitcher | RSS Connect with us: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Join Our Mailing List

SUPPY?! Oli was on location to talk with Rob and Lauren, the duo that make up the Glam-a-Billy rock and roll band KOLARS! Their fresh creative take on the established genre has been the most refreshing thing to dive into. Rob and Lauren have recently been unrelentlessly touring the United States, showcasing their wild garb, unconventional instruments, and positive vibes for everyone to experience. While most of their songs are only accessible via a special concert USB keepsake, KOLARS has decided to digitally share their song “Dizzy” off of their upcoming 2017 release for the first time to our Babetalk listeners! THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE, LOVING GESTURE! “Dizzy“ demonstrates the bands R&Beyond/Desert Disco style, keeping this tune nice and light while able to move your feet along with the melody. Take a listen to the episode, shake your booty to the exclusive stream of “Dizzy“, and get the full experience of KOLARS when they hit the road again soon!
