On this episode of Speed This Week with The Crew Chief and Trey Rice, the guys fire it up with a look at NASCAR's newest docuseries-style project: a five-night YouTube run following Rajah Caruth, Carson Hocevar, and Jesse Love. Will and Trey break down why this version feels grittier than Netflix's attempt, what makes each driver's story compelling, and why Rajah's journey from iRacing kid to rising NASCAR talent really matters—on and off the track. They also get candid about race, fan reactions, and how Black drivers are treated in a traditionally white sport, including the incident that appears in the series preview. From there, the conversation shifts to the future of NASCAR hardware and talent. The crew dives into Dodge's return to the Truck Series, the multi-truck effort being built, and the intriguing “all-star truck” concept that could rotate young guns, short-track assassins, and seasoned vets through the seat. They talk sim time vs. real-track pressure, why the new generation is so far ahead so fast, and toss out names who could thrive in that rotating Dodge ride. Sprinkle in some off-track banter about Avatar, full moons, and fast sneezes, and you've got another packed lap with trusted voices for today's fan.
The championship weekend chaos is in the rearview, and Speed This Week is wide open. The Crew Chief and Driver Trey Rice break down an unforgettable trip to Phoenix, where Trey was on-site for one of the most dominant Truck seasons in NASCAR history. They relive Corey Heim's ridiculous seven-wide, one-handed restart move, his insane 12-win stat line, and how he basically forced his way into future Hall of Fame conversations. From there, they dive into the Xfinity finale—Conor Zilisch's heartbreak, Jesse Love's execution, pit crews swinging titles—and then hit the Cup Series, where Denny Hamlin's blown shot and Kyle Larson's quiet clinch spark a real talk conversation about the playoff format and who actually deserved this one.Off the track, things get even spicier: the guys unpack Michael Jordan and Denny's legal fight with NASCAR, charter prices going nuclear, falling TV numbers, streaming problems, and whether the France family's grip on the sport looks a lot like a monopoly. Could an MJ-backed rival series ever work? What happens on December 1st? And is a return to an old-school format the only way to save the product? All that, plenty of sarcasm, and zero legal degrees on this week's Speed This Week.

Not one to mince words, "AJ" recalls many of his stories over the years and ultimately how he's ended up where he is, endlessly talented and widely respected in the industry. This is Adrian Barrett. Part two of this terrific interview:One of HBH's favorite guests is back, sharing more stories from his time on a Huey gunship helicopter as a Crew Chief and Door Gunner. As part of the 101st Airborne and a Black Angel, Roger Lockshier and his crew were routinely tasked with extracting MACV-SOG Green Berets during hairy combat in the jungles of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.In this episode and his latest book, “Saving Infantry and SOG Souls,” Distinguished Flying Cross recipient, (and many other awards) Roger shares his adventures stateside in training; supporting Airborne infantry, LRRPs, MACV-SOG; and his combat experiences – including when the six-week Tet offensive caught US forces unawares. He describes how they sat on an armor backplate to protect them from gunfire coming from below, and how they carried their guns freehand, riding on the skids to get the best view possible of the battlefield below. Roger also details his equipment, (including the wider-blade C model helo, his ‘chicken vest,' etc.) his teammates, and taking on wounded even though their Huey wasn't designed or intended for that.(This is part one of two episodes airing back-to-back.)Heroes Behind HeadlinesExecutive Producer Ralph PezzulloProduced & Engineered by Mike DawsonMusic provided by ExtremeMusic.com

Send us a textThink active duty is the only path? Derrick Blake would like a word—preferably during his 3-day weekend. From almost joining the Marines to wrenching on A-10s and recruiting for the 193rd Special Operations Wing, Derrick walks us through how the Air National Guard let him stay home, stack checks, and still deploy to undisclosed sandbox locations. Oh, and did we mention you start getting paid before basic? Yeah. This one's going to ruffle some feathers—and we love it.We talk Guard myths vs. facts, how student flight is the low-key cheat code, and why most people have no damn clue what the Guard even is. If you're trying to join TACP or EOD through the Guard and haven't hit up Derrick yet, what are you even doing?
Dale Earnhardt Jr welcomes in his father's championship-winning crew chief Doug Richert for a special edition of the Dale Jr Download. On the heels of the Becoming Earnhardt: 1980 series, the two dive into Dale Earnhardt's sophomore season & first Cup Championship. Doug was only 20 years old at the time, but he has plenty of stories to tell. The #2 team started the season swinging, winning the Busch Clash in Daytona. From there, the team won races at Atlanta & Bristol and were early contenders for the Winston Cup Championship. In the middle of the season, Crew Chief Jake Elder leaves the team, suddenly putting Doug in charge. He talks about the abrupt transition to the Crew Chief role and what challenges he and the team faced. Dale and Doug discuss the #2 team's main opponents and how they weren't afraid to ruffle feathers along the way. Doug also shares the story of winning the championship at Ontario and why he got in trouble for taking an unauthorized victory lap in Dale's car.
