Zapraszam do słuchania! Polacy w Iranie (1942–1945)”. The post #263 Odkrywanie nowych historii w pozornie znanej historii świata – rozmowa z Katarzyną Rodacką appeared first on Near-Perfect Performance.

Polecam i zapraszam ;)Montaż: Eugeniusz Karlov
Thomas Nagel is an American philosopher known for exploring consciousness, ethics, and the limits of scientific explanation. He is best known for his essay "What Is It Like to Be a Bat?" and his critique of materialism in Mind and Cosmos.Thomas discusses how he was drawn to philosophy, he elaborates on the major themes of his work, especially the challenge of understanding the subjective experience, and calls for a broader view of reality that encompasses both mental and physical dimensions. Beyond philosophy of mind, Nagel discusses ethical issues, such as the difficulty of comparing the suffering of different species and the tensions between impartial moral theories and personal loyalties.Read: What Is It Like to Be a Bat?Keep up to date with Peter on SubstackKeep up to date with Kasia!Executive Producer: Rachel BarrettThanks to our volunteer researchers Hendrik Dahlmeier and Mihika ChechiAnd special thanks to Suzi Jamil Hosted on Acast. Kasia Bromley's career started at Alexander McQueen in haute couture after she came over from Poland to study fashion in Edinburgh. Soon after her graduation, she started designing clothing, but it wasn't until 2016 that the brand we know today as ACAI officially launched. Kasia and her husband, Joe, co-founded the brand when they were expecting their first child. Kasia had previously identified a gap in the market for outdoor clothes for women that allowed them to confidently explore the outdoors- something she'd really wanted as she always had an affinity with spending time in nature and knew of the positive impact this could have. Utilising her fashion background and her extensive knowledge of technical fabrics, ACAI was born, but it took a long time to build it to the brand that's so well known and loved today. At one point, financial issues led to the couple having to move out of the family home and live apart in different countries to make ends meet, but this only served as fuel for Kasia and ACAI. A change in strategy saw ACAI launch online in 2017 and the business has grown at an incredible rate since then. I was delighted to speak to Kasia for my latest book, You've Got This, and it's a joy to share this interview with you here today. Don't forget, you can grab your copy of You've Got This through Amazon, Bloomsbury direct and all good bookshops.

Peter Singer may be, as The New Yorker calls him, the planet's “most influential living philosopher." He has written the classic text Practical Ethics, The Expanding Circle, The Life You Can Save (which gave rise to the organization of the same name) and Pushing Time Away (an account of the life and fate of his grandfather, a victim of the Holocaust). Carl and Peter discuss the carefulness around spending instilled by his parents at an early age and reflects on the ethics of giving and altruism. Peter also emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between personal enjoyment and addressing global suffering, advocating for a focus on sufficiency rather than excess. He highlights the significance of having a purpose in life and the evolving nature of needs versus wants in contemporary society. Peter advocates for effective altruism, culminating in his reflection on how future generations might view their relationship with money and its role in doing good in the world. —----------------------------- Livest Well Lived Podcast Listen to the Lives Well Lived podcast, hosted by Peter and Kasia de Lazari Radek, wherever you get your podcasts.
