#266 Bigger on the Inside - Richard is back at the Manchester Podcast Festival and rolling out a 20 year old joke about the Magic Bus. His guest this week is actor and comedian Bethany Black. They discuss the no-man’s land between regular and Celebrity chase, what it’s like to be a huge fan of Doctor Who and getting to be on the show and witness two Time Lords in one Tardis, plus the motivations to become a stand up and how she was too poor to become bankrupt, how she managed to wrestle victory at the end of a terrible year and the smorgasbord of problems that Beth has to draw on for comedy, whether it’s got easier or harder to be Trans and how discussing mental illness in her routines is a helpful thing for us all. It’s an honest and heart-felt conversation, but will that stop the toilet obsessed trolls? Probably not.SUPPORT THE SHOW!Become a badger and see extra content at our WEBSITESee details of the RHLSTP TOUR DATESBuy DVDs and Books from GO FASTER STRIPE See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
#265 Jeremy Thorpe is Innocent - Richard is at the Manchester Podcast Festival and reveals a surprising bit of his father’s Mancunian history. His guest is recipient of the British Empire Medal, Janice Connolly aka Barbara Nice. They chat about playing tambourine in a punk band, being discovered by Peter Kay, Simon Cowell’s sense of humour and how Janice is the original Fleabag. Plus her work in theatre and why Birmingham isn’t that bad (at least compared to Stockport). And a staggering denouement that you might want to check out on video.SUPPORT THE SHOW!Become a badger and see extra content at our WEBSITESee details of the RHLSTP TOUR DATESBuy DVDs and Books from GO FASTER STRIPE See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Live from the Manchester Podcast Festival. Dan and James have had a falling out
This is Set Piece Menu - the podcast where four friends talk football over food. And this time they're doing it live! The 100th Episode Spectacular is upon us, as a room of (actually paying) guests join Andy, Rory, Steven and Hugh as part of the Manchester Podcast Festival. The football: It Must Have Been Love... But Is It Over Now? We discuss if the enjoyment we get out of football is now outweighed by the things we don't like about it - and wonder if there might even be a need for us both to go on a break. The issue is decided by the panel completing the kind of quiz you'd find in the pages of Just Seventeen. The food: Brownies (with a special ingredient), made for all 100-plus people in the room by Nicky Hinchcliffe, to whom we are eternally grateful. Thanks to all those who came to join us for our live show! Pics can be found in all the usual places, including: @setpiecemenu facebook.com/setpiecemenu And you can email the podcast on setpiecemenu@gmail.com

This is Set Piece Menu - the podcast where four friends talk football over food. The football: A sequel to last week's pod, we ask how players do such remarkable things in an environment most of us couldn't imagine, with expectation levels we've never faced. The food: We're chez Hinchcliffe, and you know what that means. Nicky treats us to a two-course brunch which is indeed a remarkable thing produced despite high expectation levels. Don't forget to buy your tickets for the 100th Episode Live Spectacular! We will be part of the Manchester Podcast Festival on 13th November, and you can join us! Head to www.manchesterpodcastfestival.com RIGHT NOW!
This is Set Piece Menu - the podcast where four friends talk football over food. The football: Is it sufficient to simply support a club, a league, or a type of football outside the mainstream, or do you have to actively promote and proselytise to not be considered part of the problem it faces? Our case study is women's football, but our conversation is about much more. The food: Doughnuts. Not the expensive type found in a branded refrigerator at the local supermarket, but the cheaper ones just next to it. DEVELOPING STORY: We are, at last, doing our 100th episode! Set Piece Menu Live is happening on 13th November as part of the Manchester Podcast Festival. Tickets are available here: https://www.manchesterpodcastfestival.com/set-piece-menu
This is Set Piece Menu - the podcast where four friends talk football over food. The football: After high profile mistakes in recent months by England international defenders, we ask why players tend to make the kind of errors for their country that they wouldn't for their clubs, and whether it's because of the coaching they're getting at club level is the best it has ever been. The food: A stir-fry. Not prepared prior to the pod, but afterwards, because Hugh is concerned about juggling recording equipment and a very hot wok. BREAKING NEWS: We are, at last, doing our 100th episode! Set Piece Menu Live is happening on 13th November as part of the Manchester Podcast Festival. We KNOW. We know what you’re thinking...“Isn’t this supposed to be an episode nattering to TASH DEMETRIOU? YES. IT WAS. We had a leeeeetttlle tech problem. You best listen to the intro and all will be revealed. SO. Onto EPISODE 64. A few months back we received an invite to be involved with the first ever Manchester podcast festival and bring TSP to a live audience. Naturally we were extremely flattered to be asked and jumped at the chance of taking the podcast to a city we not only love but have recorded many an episode. Now it was time to find a suitable guest for our Manchester audience....Who better than a home grown favourite... we managed to get in touch with RALF LITTLE and he said YES. We had a lovely natter and it was also a long natter. So much so that we’ll do a part two in 2019. Ralf, as we’re sure you’re aware, first came to our attention as Anthony or “Lurch” in the classic and much loved, The Royle Family. Since then Ralf has been popping up in all sorts of telly stuff and has been seen on stage at the National and Theatre Royal Bath quite recently. He’s very honest about his past and how he was perceived by certain media and also where he is now. It’s a belter and the audience reaction on the night was electric. We were so chuffed to have past TSP guest and friend Argh kid perform some absolute beautiful words for us to open the eve and we cannot thank him enough. He’s a class act. (Bonus audio treats coming soon for Patreon donors) Massive thanks to MANCHESTER PODCAST FESTIVAL for inviting us for their FIRST EVER FESTIVAL and also to Ralf but a HUGE THANK YOU to the incredible audience for coming out to support us. Big love to you. Please enjoy. THIS is episode 64 of THE TWO SHOT PODCAST with RALF LITTLE. Get in touch... We met in his glorious restaurant in Newcastle called Peace and Loaf. I love bread and I hate wars, so I knew I’d have a great time. I brought him a disguising durian fruit which caused a stir and a stink in the kitchen - fun to be the one bringing some drama. And he made me something incredible out of the bits of pigs that are usually destined for the dustbin. He’s so fun and honest about what his local Michelin star inspector looks like and all the acute cuisine he feeds his son (not). This one was so fun and exciting to record. We met in a working kitchen, so there’s some background noise, but who cares, ey.
