Num ano de séries medianas, faz bem parar e relembrar o tanto de coisa boa que já foi feita e tem por aí nos streamings. Baseados num post do nosso amigo @oqueassistirhj, listamos dezenas de séries incríveis da década passada, entre elas The Americans, The Leftovers, Fleabag, Homeland, Veep, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Search Party, Rectify, Oliver Kitteridge, Olhos que condenam, Bojack Horseman, Broadchurch, The Deuce, Legion, Atlanta, Objetos Cortantes, Big Little Lies, Girls, Better Things, Hannibal, Game of Thrones e várias outras. Também comentamos séries do momento, como Etoile, Careme, As Quatro Estações do Ano, The Last of Us, O Eternauta, Andor, Seus Amigos e Vizinhos e Hacks.
This timely and telling analysis identifies the formal and thematic innovations pioneered by millennial feminists between 2012 and 2020 that have shaped the trajectory of our favorite shows today. Author Vincent L. Stephens offers close readings of nine pivotal series, including Girls, Orange Is the New Black, Broad City, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Fleabag, Insecure, Shrill, and I May Destroy You. Across these series, women-led creative teams translated techniques from indie films, inverted gendered television tropes, and engaged in innovative temporal storytelling. These series, often including showrunners who also act, write, and direct, are the product of a new ecology of television driven by the rise of streaming platforms and a demand for more inclusive narratives. Broads, Sisters, Exes: Feminist Millennial Television (Wayne State UP, 2025) optimistically contends with women as aesthetic innovators and maps their influence on entertainment industry reforms that are slowly but surely increasing accessibility for creatives from groups historically underrepresented across media. Through elegant prose deeply rooted in an intersectional feminist perspective, Stephens expands the aesthetic and narrative grammars of contemporary television. Learn more about your ad choices. Britiske humorprogram nevnt i episoden:Peep Show (2003-2015)Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969-1973)Fleabag (2016-2019)This Country (2017-2020)Alan Partridge, figuren spilt av skuespiller Steve Coogan i film, tv-serier og podkast.Aksels anbefaling: Hørespillene De dödas röster og Exorcismen i Eksjö på Sveriges Radio Hosted on Acast. Brought to you by the team that brought you Wolf 359, you know it's going to be good. Faith Adler has crossed the country to spend the summer in NYC. There she meets David, and the two of them quickly get mired in ... something. It's complicated. Together with friends Tori, Matt, and Ginah, Faith and David navigate situationships, friendships, found family, and all the messiness of being young. Faith is a DJ, and that pretty much describes how she approaches life — willing to scratch, skip, mute, sample, and even reverse until things start to make some sort of sense. If you love Community, High Fidelity, and Fleabag, this show definitely has your name on it. Listen to the Director's Intro with Gabriel Urbina, then head over to Audible for the full listen. You know him as Murray in “Stranger Things,” or Martin in “Fleabag,” or loved him in “Lemon” (the wonderful indie film he also co-wrote), or his countless guest star roles on Comedy Central, Adult Swim, “The Office,” “Curb” (the list goes on), but lately Brett Gelman has been venturing into more serious projects like “McVeigh” and “Lady in the Lake.” On this episode, he talks about the conscious choice to just “do great roles” that often takes him away from comedy. He talks about his relationship to the craft which started in acting school, explains how bombing on stage doing improv was great training for acting, describes why a method approach continues to serve him, makes a plea for us to stop being afraid to “enter into the ugly,” and much more. Currently you can catch him, and his co-host (and wife) Ari Dayan, on their podcast “Neurotica,” which gives listeners an unfiltered view into their marriage! Listen wherever you get your podcasts! Back To One is the in-depth, no-nonsense, actors-on-acting podcast from Filmmaker Magazine. In each episode, host Peter Rinaldi invites one working actor to do a deep dive into their unique process, psychology, and approach to the craft. Follow Back To One on Instagram

This week we're joined by internet sensations Amelia and Evan of Girls Rewatch podcast to discuss Lena Dunham, two years after we first knighted her as an original Stargirl. We discuss Lena's work and life post-Girls (Sharp Stick, her new show Too Much, and her marriage, chronic illness, and perma-hibernation mode) and assess the past 10 years of self-conscious scripted comedy (White Lotus, Broad City, Fleabag, Sex Lives of College Girls, Severance, Insecure, And Just Like That, etc.). We also analyze Gen Z's reclamation of Marnie and reminisce about the Dream of mid-2010s creative Brooklyn advanced by the best TV show of all time. A bonus episode treat! Thanks to Prime Video, we got to chat about our favourite TV show of all time, #Fleabag, and why we think Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a genius for creating the most perfectly imperfect main character. Plus, our thoughts on the #TheMarvellousMrsMaisel and her shitty husband, finding career success and falling into feminism.
Today your hosts are joined by dearest friends Chloe and Laina, #1 disciples of the Hot Priest, to talk about the first season of Fleabag.
I've hand-picked some of my favourite episodes of all time to revisit this Christmas, so today's a very special one. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was my first EVER guest on this podcast when I launched in July 2018. A year after that, almost to the day, I welcomed her back to talk about how her life had changed in the interim [spoiler alert: she'd become a global superstar]. Phoebe talks about the craziness of those 12 months, during which she wrote and starred in Fleabag 2 (described as a televisual masterpiece by...well...almost everyone), made Killing Eve (described as a televisual masterpiece by...well...almost everyone) and worked her magic on the new James Bond movie. It was a year that, from the outside, seemed to many of us to be the epitome of success. But what failures lay underneath the surface? What about those private moments of vulnerability and self-doubt we are so rarely privy to? Phoebe joined me to talk about three failures from that year, including her failure to connect with her family, her failure to speak up for herself and her failure to Marie Kondo her bedroom. Along the way, we discuss what makes the perfect water bottle, filming THAT final scene in Fleabag (apparently the foxes were total divas), sexuality, exhaustion and why female creators are often unfairly assumed to be writing autobiography. And yes, the Meryl Streep apple crumble anecdote makes an(other) appearance. HOW TO FAIL PRESENTED BY HAYU LIVE TOUR tickets: www.fane.co.uk/how-to-fail Have something to share of your own? Greg and Ryan discuss the Prime Video series FLEABAG
En esta especial y muy solicitada cita, platicamos sobre la serie británica Fleabag en una conversación íntima con la autora e ilustradora Eréndira Derbez sobre duelos, sexo, salud mental, familia, etc.
On immediacy, representation, and anti-politics. Anna Kornbluh, professor of English and author of Immediacy, or The Style of Too Late Capitalism talks to Alex about the cultural, political, and economic changes she refers to as 'immediacy'. We discuss: Is 'immediacy' just a vibe, or is vibe itself non-mediated? How does anti-representation in film, TV and books relate to anti-representation in politics? And can we relate culture immediacy to the 'material base'? How do Fleabag, Uncut Gems, and the turn to memoirs and autofiction exemplify immediacy? Why does self-disclosure fit so well with the data economy? In what way is contemporary anti-theory nihilistic and apologetic? How does the style of immediacy relate to Frederic Jameson's understanding of postmodernism? Is the desire to put everything private on show a response to alienation? And is the professionalisation of 'theory' a problem or solution? This week on Game of Groans, Emily and Kate are still taking time away from "canon" episodes and have watched a holiday movie with a Game of Thrones actress in it. We decide to watch Emilia Clarke's movie, "Last Christmas."They discuss modernizing language can be bad, manic pixie dream boys, Whamageddon, Patti Lupone, Fleabag, suspension of disbelief, and that Chris Pratt isn't funny anymore. Additionally, Emily knows nothing about George Michaels, Kate doesn't agree with coma spirits, and they both plug newer holiday movies they like. If adventure has a name, it must be... Indiana Jones. In this episode Michael & Claire defy the laws of age, time travel and quality movie-making in an octogenarian "romp" with Fleabag and a kid that definitely isn't a plug-and-play rip-off of a character from a previous instalment. A legend will face his destiny... in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny! At time of recording the first four movies in the Indiana Jones franchise are available on Paramount+ in the USA and Prime VIdeo in the UK. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is available on Disney+ in both countries.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes. New details surrounding Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps have emerged with the release of this official synopsis: Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family — Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic , Sue Storm/Invisible Woman , Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. While this synopsis may be sparse on specificity, it does officially confirm Julia Garner's role to be that of a Silver Surfer, which was strongly suspected until now. In the wake of some big announcements and updates regarding the franchise's future on the big screen, Star Wars has removed at least one of its upcoming film projects from the calendar. Last week, Disney pulled the untitled Star Wars flick occupying a December 18, 2026 release and replaced it with the recently announced Ice Age 6. Elsewhere on the small screen, fans can look forward to more information on Andor Season 2 soon, with the series on display in the coveted cover feature of Empire Magazine's November issue, available November 21. Our pal Jimmy Gunn is back to his antics providing some seeming clarity on Peacemaker's canon status within his DCU. While speaking with IGN, the filmmaker explained that nothing is canon ‘unless you see it in Creature Commandos,' or is released after that series, which debuts on Max December 5. Gunn went on to clarify that the new canon would include prior events and characters that are referenced in Creature Commandos, which would include all of Peacemaker's first season, barring one scene. “The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,” The Assembled behind the scenes web documentary for Agatha All Along was suspiciously released via Youtube rather than Disney Plus… While speaking at Vulture Festival, Elizabeth Olsen shared that returning to Marvel feels like a choice driven by character-focused storytelling, not an obligation, and acknowledged superhero films' role in making indie projects possible. Lady Gaga has been cast in season 2 of Wednesday on Netflix. At this time, it is not known what the extent of her role will be. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Conan O'Brien will host the upcoming 97th Oscar's ceremony. Sophie Turner is in negotiations to star as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, Prime Video's high-profile series adaptation of the video game franchise from Emmy-winning Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Sony has hired Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk to write an updated version of the 1999 horror comedy Idle Hands that starred Seth Green and Jessica Alba. Jason Reitman is serving as a producer and a director has not yet been announced. A rebooted Friday Night Lights series is in the works at Universal TV. The reboot is believed to be a new story with new characters not attached to the original. HBO's Lanterns has added Never Have I Ever star Poorna Jagannathan to the cast. Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' Christmas movie Red One came in at the lower end of expectations with a $32.1 million domestic outing. Apple TV+ has ordered a 10-episode series adaptation of Cape Fear with Javier Bardem starring as Max Cady, a notorious killer seeking revenge on a couple of attorneys. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese will executive produce the series.
This week, hosts Elizabeth and Kathy speak with Luke Jorgensen, professor and acting theatre department chair at Boston College. Surprise! Because we had a Patreon movie that fits the timeframe of our Bridgerton world, we've decided to drop a bonus one on the main feed. This is a Victorian era mystery starring Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes, Sherlock's younger sister. It's a star-studded Netflix film from 2020 that also features Henry Cavill as older bro Sherlock and Helena Bonham Carter as the (disappearing) matriarch of the Holmes family. Sam Claflin plays the eldest bro of the family, Mycroft Holmes, who sucks a big fat one. It's a fun flick directed by a man who also brought is “Fleabag,” and you can feel it from the absolutely shattered 4th wall. And if you wanna stay for some off the topic Jon & Kev chat, just keep listening after the end song. Thanks to Emily Thomas for the request, and thanks to all the Patreon pals for your support, and you can join the fun at patreon.com/kevinandjon!
A new study just published says that perimenopausal women are more likely to experience bipolar and major depressive disorder. Cardiff University academics worked with charity Bipolar UK and the UK Biobank, a large-scale biomedical database, to look at nearly 130,000 UK women and focused on the four years around the last menstrual period. Dr Clare Dolman, an ambassador for Bipolar UK and patient and public involvement lead on the project, joins Jessica Creighton. We Might Regret This is a brand new BBC comedy that has been pegged by reviews as ‘the next Fleabag'. It centres on Freya, who is an artist and tetraplegic, as she moves in with her partner and hires her best friend to be her personal assistant. The series is partly based on the experiences of Kyla Harris, the co-creator who stars as Freya. She joins Jessica to talk about everything from having a third person in a relationship to misconceptions around disability. What do you think of maternity clothes? For mums-to-be in 2024, it's apparently all about low-cut jeans and crop tops, moving away from traditional maternity wear. Retailers are recording a decrease of maternity clothes searches with women instead opting for regular clothes, perhaps in a bigger size. So why the shift? Jessica is joined by Assistant Fashion Editor at The Times, Hannah Rogers and influencer and author Alex Light to discuss.A brand new documentary film called Daughters follows four girls whose fathers are in prison in the US. They are all preparing for a special prison visit – a father-daughter dance that sees some of them meeting for the first time. Co-director of the film and CEO of Girls for a Change Angela Patton joins Jessica to talk about her work with black girls and their fathers, along with a father and daughter from the UK who have personal experience of the challenges of a father being in prison.
DZ-112: Breaking the 4th wall How is the effect of breaking the 4th wall different to VoiceOver? As part of our series on how filmmakers can directly communicate to the audience, we finally examine the most blatant tool of them all: when character look directly down the barrel of the camera… and thus look directly at us, the viewer. Chas, Stu and Mel take the craft tools/levers they identified in previous episodes and use them to examine HIGH FIDELITY, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY and - of course - FLEABAG. By examining how “in-world” the camera is, who is talking, and whom the character is talking to (i.e. who we are in the relationship), we end up discovering how breaking the 4th wall can involve the audience in the emotional present of the character and also grants the character a degree of narrative control (a craft lever that can be dialled in and out). Separately, in a Backmatter to this episode to be found on our Patreon page, Mel and Chas answer a listener question and take a deep dive into how breaking the 4th wall changes the RELATIONSHIP between you - the viewer - and character. As always: SPOILERS ABOUND and all copyright material used under fair use for educational purposes. Thanks to Chris Walker for his excellent editing this episode. Money touches everything in our lives. And for women, who have long been documented to earn less than men, save less than men, and invest less than men, the stereotype is often that we're doing money “wrong.” But it's getting old. We know that statistically, women are better investors than men are, we fare better during times of recession, and we're often more thoughtful about our budgets. Yet the stereotypes persist: the “girl math” trend of recent years tried to insinuate that we're messy and unreliable with numbers, and countless female characters in pop culture (those in Fleabag, Sex and the City, and Girls, to name a few) just can't seem to get their finances together, no matter how hard they try. We say enough is enough. And we aren't the only ones. Jo Piazza feels the same way — which is exactly why she flipped the script for the main character in her new novel The Sicilian Inheritance. Listen in to hear her story. In Mailbag, we hear from a listener whose 18-year-old son is looking for the best ways to start to build credit, and we hear from a woman who is about to have her first baby and is being pressured by friends to make big (and expensive!) life changes. Chapters: 00:00:00: Introduction 00:06:32: Portrayal of women in finance and media 00:10:03: Strategies for managing work and family life 00:21:22: Managing the impact of social media 00:25:40: Transition to mailbag segment 00:26:01: Financial advice for young adults and credit cards 00:30:20: Lifestyle changes after having a baby Takeaways: Women are often portrayed as messy and unreliable in finance and media, perpetuating stereotypes that can be damaging and untrue. The influencer culture on social media can create an expectation gap between real life and the curated images and lifestyles portrayed online. Financial influencers should be approached with caution, as not all advice and recommendations may be reliable or suitable for individual situations. There is a need for better regulation and transparency in the influencer industry to protect consumers and ensure ethical practices. More money news when you need it!
