Wellness Radio with Dr. Jeanette welcomes Mina Samuels, author of Run Like A Girl 365 Days: A Practical, Personal, Inspirational Guide for Women Athletes to share why are we 'running'? The show today is not just for runners, women, nor athletes; it is a conversation of the interaction with 'self' in the process of engaging in the world around us, being open to the challenges being presented and how we are honest with self on a daily basis. Where are we running to, what are we running from or where are we going? Are we running away from troubles or somethat we cannot achieve? "...running to her soul's journey and that is a different path" shares Dr. Jeanette, "running is an earth human existence and dancing is a mystical experience, how are we grounding in life" Mina shares a year of descriptive words that spill from her heart and thoughts as she takes the time to listen to herself through running outside, sitting in quiet moments or writing her pains. What is the truth we keep telling ourselves about who we are and what we do for life; are they really the truth or just a facade that we paint for others to like us? Is life a game of perfection or getting to? Perhaps life is a journey and the pebbles under our feet remind us where we are in life; enjoy the journey. In episode 80 of Fresh Tracks I speak with Mina Samuels, author of Run Like a Girl 365 Days a Year. Mina shares her story cutting Fresh Tracks and discusses how vital it is for women to not only show up in this world but pursue excellence while they are at it! Mina’s insights into how we can all find balance in our lives involves bringing out our inner athlete, even if we don’t identify as an athlete. The key lies in discovering what nourishes and empowers our inner strength and resolve. Mina believes a great way to do this is with our bodies through physical activity. Finding inspiration in something other than ourselves and understanding that transformation is ongoing – it’s a journey not a thing to overcome, is how we run like a girl.
