Flaunt! Find Your Sparkle & Create a Life You Love After Infidelity or Betrayal with Lora Cheadle: What Are You Under the Influence Of?

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 12, 2026 56:00

What Are You Under the Influence Of? How Fear, Trauma & Other People's Opinions Keep You Stuck After Betrayal After betrayal, everyone seems to have advice. Leave. Stay. Fight for your marriage. Run. Forgive. Never trust again. But when your nervous system is overwhelmed, it's easy to absorb other people's certainty instead of listening to your own truth. In this episode, Lora explores how betrayal trauma increases suggestibility, why fear spreads so quickly, and how to reclaim your ability to think clearly, trust yourself, and make decisions from wisdom rather than panic. Drawing from her experience as an attorney, clinical hypnotherapist, and betrayal recovery coach, Lora explains why knowledge reduces fear, how hypnosis can help break the trance of trauma, and why discernment—not certainty—is the real path to healing. If you've ever wondered whether you're making decisions based on your own truth or someone else's story, this episode is for you. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal Trauma Makes You More Suggestible. When your nervous system is overwhelmed, your brain naturally seeks certainty. That's why it's easy to absorb other people's opinions, fears, and experiences instead of trusting yourself. Discernment Is Different Than Fear. Fear demands immediate answers. Discernment allows reality to reveal itself over time. Healing isn't about becoming hypervigilant—it's about staying connected to yourself while the truth unfolds. Knowledge Creates Calm. Understanding your legal, financial, emotional, and relational options doesn't force a decision. It reduces fear, increases clarity, and helps you make choices from a place of confidence rather than panic. Favorite Quotes "When we're desperate for certainty, we start borrowing certainty from other people." "Discernment is the ability to stay connected to yourself while reality reveals itself." "Fear shrinks your world. Knowledge expands it." "Healing isn't about becoming fearless. It's about learning how to hear yourself again underneath the noise." LOVE THE SHOW? This week on Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #672 the Gaea Star Band present another hour of visionary acoustic improv music featuring Mariam Massaro on vocals, Celtic harp, Native flute, ukulele, acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars, mandolin and shruti box, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with the mystical raga “Did You Hear The Song Inside Your Heart?”, a rich, floating piece built around Mariam's enormous-toned Martin acoustic 12-string guitar tuned in DADGAD open tuning. “What A Way” is a crisp, dancing minor folk song featuring Mariam's chiming ukulele, energized congas from Craig and nimble, racing piano from Bob supporting Mariam's dramatic vocal and “The Easy Way” is a fantastical, deeply evocative ballad that achieves a beautiful balance between throbbing Native drum, crisp, ancient-sounding mandolin, minimalist, mysterious piano and Mariam's beautifully controlled, narrative vocal. “Such Good Fortune” celebrates the year of the Fire Horse through a rich, staid raga built on Mariam's hypnotizing shruti box drone and featuring soaring Native flute explorations and an appealingly solemn, reverent vocal from Mariam. The piece shifts dramatically into a long, soaring gospel coda punctuated with passionate Native flute excursions, powerful, circular piano and thrumming Native drum. “Celebrate Diversity” is a fantastically creative, upbeat song that explores several jazz, classical and Indigenous directions while always returning to a powerful main motif in support of Mariam's powerful message. “Transform” is a fine, acoustic-guitar driven blues with a light, relaxed vocal and tight contributions from the ensemble and we conclude today's show with “Make The Best”, another 12-string based raga with dramatic, granitic piano and Native drum supporting Mariam's inspiring vocal. The Power of Yes. The Power of No. In this thought-provoking episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show, host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt explores two of the most powerful words in our vocabulary: yes and no. Many personal development experts encourage us to say yes to opportunities because we never know where a new connection, experience, or challenge may lead. While there is tremendous value in being open to growth, there also comes a point where saying yes to everything can leave us overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected from what truly matters. Join us as we discuss the importance of finding balance between yes and no in our personal and professional lives. We explore how boundaries help us protect our time, energy, values, and relationships. Whether you are an entrepreneur, parent, employer, employee, or community leader, learning when to say yes and when to say no is essential for living and leading with intention. We also examine the other side of the equation. What happens when someone says no to everything? How can that impact opportunities, relationships, and even the example we set for our children? If people expect rejection every time they ask, they may eventually stop asking altogether. This episode will help you reflect on your own patterns, evaluate whether your decisions align with your values, and discover how both yes and no can become powerful tools for personal growth, healthy relationships, and greater fulfillment. We would also love your help. Please take a few moments to complete our audience survey at www.mmhm.org. Episode 16: Women: What it Means to Carry Shame around Money In this episode of Paperclips & Periods, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c) explore what it means to carry shame around money and why that silence can quietly shape so much of a woman's life, her choices, her relationships, and her sense of self. Money is one of the last things women feel permission to talk about honestly. Not because the feelings are not there, but because shame has a way of making people go quiet. This episode names that silence directly and asks what it would look like to start telling the truth about money, not to fix everything at once, but to stop carrying it alone. The conversation opens with where money shame comes from in the first place. Long before we were adults making financial decisions, we were children absorbing money scripts, the unspoken rules and beliefs passed down through family, culture, and circumstance. Messages like "we don't talk about money," "there's never enough," or "wanting more is selfish" do not disappear when we grow up. They run quietly in the background and shape behavior in ways that can be hard to trace. From there, they move into the real cost of that shame. Financial stress is not separate from mental health. It activates the same stress response in the body as any other ongoing threat, and when shame is layered on top of it, it becomes even harder to look at clearly or ask for help. They also discuss what shame resilience actually looks like in practice, including how to do a financial audit without judgment, what values-based budgeting means when it is used as a clarity tool rather than a restriction, and why saying a financial truth out loud to one safe person can be a more meaningful starting point than any spreadsheet. The episode closes with an introduction to financial therapy as a legitimate and growing field that sits at the intersection of mental health and financial planning, along with practical guidance on how to find a financial therapist and what to expect. It ends with three reflection questions for listeners to sit with: What money story did you inherit? Where does shame show up for you? And what financial truth has been waiting for some air? Kim Hodous Talks About Happiness in Spite of Grief Our guest today is Kim Hodous, who is with us for the third time. Kim has lost two children, tragically, and yet she is a happiness expert! She is a simply indomitable woman. First, she lost her two-year-old daughter, Chelsea, to leukemia, when Kim was a young mother, just thirty-one years old, and with four children under the age of five. And Kim had dealt pretty well with Chelsea's death, by writing four books and spending a beautiful 15-year career as “The Happiness Speaker”, teaching companies how best to have happy employees. But she also tells us that she didn't have the luxury of having those little children to raise in 2022, when her 29-year-old son, Rob, died of a drug overdose, because all her children were grown up by then, and out of the house, in 2022. Fortunately, though, soon after Rob died, within just a few months, Kim discovered The Grief Recovery Method. And wow, you have got to say, this is one resourceful woman! Kim got herself certified in The Grief Recovery Method, and she began to deal with her own grief by helping other mothers deal with suffering the grief of the loss of a child. Kim's son, Rob, soon began to come through to her then, and he has taught her how to connect with him in a very special way, so now she is able to teach other mothers how to connect with their children in that same lovely way. Kim Hodous is literally a beacon of hope and joy! And now she is with us for the third time, to share that hope and joy amid grief with us. Kim's website is www.kimhodous.com. Miracles Collapse Time After David presented the documentary about a poor boy who became a successful entrepreneur, it sparked profound questions among the participants in the online “The Way” session. While it's easy to accept the script when everything goes according to plan, how do we handle situations that seem to have negative outcomes? David addressed this by emphasizing that the problem lies in our judgment of situations, not in any specific worldly circumstance, regardless of whether people perceive them as positive or negative. As Jesus taught us in ACIM, everything happens for the greater good, without exception. When we judge something negatively, it may seem like God wants us to suffer, but this couldn't be further from the truth. God's will for us is perfect happiness, which can only be achieved when we have forgiven the past, forgiven the present, and forgiven the future. Miracles can help us transcend the limitations of time. Other participants inquired about how to navigate this world of illusions while fulfilling their personal needs. David explained that our belief in reciprocity creates the illusion that giving and receiving are opposite actions. In reality, they are the same because we are all interconnected, loved and protected as an idea in the mind of God. These gatherings took place during the first three weekends of April 2026 and featured teachings, films, music, panel discussions, and live Q&A sessions with David Hoffmeister. Will I Ever Feel Normal Again After Betrayal? One of the most common questions women ask after betrayal is: “Will I ever feel like myself again?” Because betrayal trauma and infidelity don't just break your heart — they disrupt your nervous system, your identity, your sense of safety, your routines, and even your perception of reality. In this honest and deeply grounding episode, Lora shares what healing after betrayal actually looks like — not the polished Instagram version, but the real, nuanced, nonlinear truth of nervous system recovery, emotional healing, and rebuilding self-trust after infidelity. She explores: why betrayal feels so destabilizing what trauma does to the brain and body why healing is quieter and more subtle than most people expect the real signs you're healing how to stop losing yourself in someone else's healing why peace eventually matters more than certainty what it truly means to stay true to yourself after betrayal This episode is compassionate, practical, validating, and full of the kind of honest insight women desperately need when they wonder if they'll ever feel okay again. Top 3 Takeaways Healing after betrayal is not about “never being triggered again” — it's about building the capacity to feel, regulate, recover, and stay connected to yourself. One of the biggest signs of healing is when betrayal stops being the center of your identity and you begin caring about your future again. Real healing is often quiet and gradual: sleeping through the night, laughing unexpectedly, trusting yourself faster, and choosing peace over constant certainty. More Than Skin Deep: Beauty, Health, and Mental Well-Being In this thought-provoking episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show, with host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, she revisits a conversation that deserves to be heard. She explores the question: To wear makeup or not to wear makeup? For some, makeup can boost confidence, enhance self-expression, and help them feel their best in a world that often promotes specific standards of beauty. For others, especially as they grow older, face health challenges, or seek a more natural lifestyle, makeup may become less important or even something they choose to avoid due to concerns about toxins and overall wellness. But this conversation goes far beyond makeup. She dives into the powerful impact that words and labels have on mental health. Terms like "survivor" and "fighter" are often used with good intentions, but do they resonate with everyone? What does it mean to be a cancer survivor, a suicide loss survivor, or a domestic violence survivor? Episode 15: Gratitude during times when Worry feels Constant or Overwhelming In this episode of Paperclips and Periods, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera and Katie Krych talk about gratitude during times when worry feels constant or overwhelming. They explore how anxiety and “what if” thinking can narrow our focus, making it harder to notice what is steady, supportive, and good in our lives. Gratitude is not about ignoring stress, but about gently expanding our awareness so both worry and appreciation can exist together. They share how gratitude does not need to be big or complicated. It can be as simple as noticing small comforts in daily life, like a favorite coffee, a quiet moment in the car, or something practical that makes life easier. The conversation also moves into deeper gratitude for things like family, friendships, meaningful work, and support systems that often get overlooked when stress is high. They reflect on how anxiety can make gratitude harder to access, and how intentionally noticing small positives can help restore balance. The goal is not to remove worry, but to create space for both concern and appreciation. The episode ends with a simple reflection: noticing one small thing and one meaningful thing to be grateful for in the present moment. Discovering Plants with Healing Powers with guest Ava Long, Clinical Herbalist and Owner, Floral Botanical Medicine Greek physician Hippocrates is attributed with saying “Nature is the best physician.” Herbalism is the study and practice of using plants for medicinal, therapeutic, and health-promoting purposes.Ancient Greek herbalism helped form the foundation of modern herbal medicine and the emphasis on the balance between nature, health and philosophy. Every plant seems to have its own special healing superpowers, and a relatable story to tell. Clinical herbalist Ava Long shares her story and her approach to herbal science. Ava Long is the owner of Floral Botanical Medicine, a health and wellness practice. Her diagnostic approach incorporates live blood microscopy to uncover root causes of chronic health concerns. She develops individualized herbal protocols for detoxification and for restoring balance and achieving optimal health. Ava has trained at various institutions, including the Boston School of Herbal Studies, where she also serves as an adjunct professor. She is also the founder of Maine Sea Greens, a seaweed food product combining her passion for herbalism and seaweed. Through her work, she helps others benefit from ancient holistic practices alongside modern technology. Note: Roughly 30 percent of the global population is at risk for iodine deficiency. Symptoms of iodine deficiency include unexplained weight gain, chronic fatigue, cold sensitivity, dry skin, thinning hair, and enlarged thyroid gland. Seaweed, the best natural source of iodine, is an excellent herbal and dietary addition for supporting thyroid health, regulating blood sugar, and providing antioxidant protection. Seaweed should, however, be consumed in moderation to avoid excess iodine. Flaunt! Find Your Sparkle & Create a Life You Love After Infidelity or Betrayal with Lora Cheadle: Marriage Counseling Can Backfire

Play Episode Listen Later May 30, 2026 58:57

Why Marriage Counseling Can Backfire After Infidelity After betrayal, almost everyone says the same thing: “You two need counseling.” But what if rushing into couples therapy immediately after infidelity is actually making things worse? In this deeply honest and eye-opening episode, Lora Cheadle shares why betrayal is not simply a marriage problem — it's a nervous system injury, an identity crisis, and a reality-shattering trauma that requires stabilization before relationship repair. Drawing from her own experience recovering after her husband's multiple affairs, Lora explains why so many betrayed partners leave counseling feeling blamed, overwhelmed, emotionally flooded, or even more disconnected from themselves. She explores the “assumption trap” that infidelity is caused by relationship problems, why traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on, and what healing-focused support should actually prioritize first. This episode is not anti-therapy and it's not anti-marriage. It's a compassionate, trauma-informed conversation about why healing begins with you — your safety, your nervous system, your clarity, and your self-trust. If you've been betrayed and feel confused, pressured, dysregulated, or like you've completely lost yourself, this episode will help you understand why. Top 3 Takeaways Infidelity is not just a marriage problem. Betrayal shatters your sense of reality, identity, trust, and nervous system safety. Before working on the relationship, the betrayed partner often needs stabilization, orientation, and emotional safety first. Traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on. When therapy focuses too quickly on “relationship dynamics,” many betrayed partners leave feeling blamed, self-monitoring, emotionally flooded, or pressured to fix the relationship before their own trauma has been addressed. Healing starts with rebuilding yourself — not rushing decisions. Before deciding whether to stay, leave, forgive, reconcile, or rebuild the marriage, it's essential to regulate the nervous system, reconnect with self-trust, and create clarity from a grounded place instead of survival mode. Favorite Quotes “Infidelity is not a marriage problem. It is an individual's problem.” “People cheat because they can't meet their own needs.” “Marriage counseling assumes two regulated adults discussing relationship dynamics.” “Betrayal involves one deeply dysregulated person trying to survive the collapse of their reality.” “It's not about pretending everything is okay. It's about rebuilding you and your truth.” “When you're bleeding out, you stop the blood flow first.” “You don't need to rush your healing. But you do need LOVE THE SHOW? Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #670 is another dynamic session of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band featuring Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, baritone and soprano ukulele, mandolin, acoustic guitar and nylon string guitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas, Native drum and djembe. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in the middle of May 2026, today's show begins with the beautiful summer celebration “Down By The River”, a relaxed stream-of-consciousness tone poem with a peaceful reverie of a vocal by Mariam and “Take Me Down Inside My Soul” is a quiet, reverent song outlined by Mariam's whispering acoustic guitar and deeply felt vocal, Craig's throbbing Native drum and gospel piano from Bob. The band performs an energized, evocative take of Mariam's “Vision Quest” from the eponymous 2016 LP that features Mariam's dancing marimba braided into a tapestry of grooving congas and minimalist piano. “There's A Fire Between The Realms Of Light” is a mysterious, swirling folk song led by Mariam's chiming mandolin and powerful, pagan forest lyric, a rich, epic piece that dances through three separate movements from major to minor like the passage of a summer day into dusk. The band presents a beautiful, emotional reading of Mariam's “Sail On” from her “Vision Quest” LP that Mariam leads with her nylon string guitar “Leonardo” and the ensemble next takes on Mariam's “All Life Unfolds”, re-imagined as a minor theme which yields a very different song indeed, from Craig's heartbeat Native drum to Bob's completely upended minor interpretations to Mariam's ad libbed poetry. “Aloha Hey” is a beautiful, bright Hawaiian tune by Mariam appropriately decorated with her delicate soprano ukulele and reggae-based accompaniment from the ensemble and we conclude today's session with “Let's Hold Steady”, a deeply felt song with a lovely vocal from Mariam and a bittersweet, evocative musical stage from the ensemble. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #669 is an hour of inspired, dynamic visionary acoustic improvised music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, harmonica, kalimba, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas, djembe and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in mid-May of 2026, today's show begins with the meditative, beautifully realized “In The Quiet Of The Forest”, an unusual, evocative piece featuring a top-notch vocal from Mariam. “Luminously Shining Bright” is a languid yet powerful minor folk ballad with beautiful chord changes and another inspired vocal and “Oh Golden Light” is a rich, harmonically lush song, weaving Mariam's precise, soaring vocal with tight, swinging congas, imaginative, ambitious piano and tight, lustrous ukulele work and featuring a fantastical flute coda. “This Is The Way” is a fine, expanded take on the track from Mariam's “Release” LP built on a rock-solid foundation of throbbing, dramatic Native drum from Craig. “Hold To Your Essence” is a fascinating piece featuring Mariam's kalimba as the defining instrument around which Bob constructs a rich, complex harmonic framework which, along with Craig's metronomic congas, support Mariam's inspired, spacious vocal and Native flute dialogues. “Spiraling Portal” is a mystical, goosebump-inducing eldritch forest song featuring Mariam's timeless, chiming mandolin, tiptoe-ing, darkling piano and earthy, pulsating congas and “Turn And Face The Wind” grows slowly and patiently from the embers of “Portal” into a lush, shifting, psychedelic, sonically enormous tapestry into which each member of the ensemble interject languid melodic phrases and fade back into the cloth of the piece in turn. We close today's show with the beautifully played blues “Oh, Let's All Be Grateful” featuring earthy Native drum, a fine vocal and harmonica conversation from Mariam and inspired fat-fingered piano from Bob. For many who made it home, the journey did not end when their service did. Countless active military members and veterans live with grief, trauma, PTSD, survivor's guilt, and the loss of friends and fellow service members they served beside. Kelli discusses how meaningful support, compassion, connection, and community can truly become life changing for those who may be struggling silently. This episode also highlights simple yet powerful ways civilians can better support veterans, active military members, and military families, even for those who may not openly talk about what they are carrying. From creating safe spaces and meaningful conversations to connecting people with helpful resources and community support, small actions can make a lasting difference. As we honor those who never made it home, we must also remember the families who continue to carry the weight of sacrifice every day. Their stories, grief, resilience, and healing matter too. Join Kelli for this important conversation about remembrance, compassion, mental health, and the power of showing up for those who have served. Paperclips & Periods Podcast with Dr. Emily Cabrera & Katie Krych: Hold Gratitude and Worry at the Same Time

Episode 14: Hold Gratitude and Worry at the Same Time In this episode of Paperclips & Periods, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC, and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c), explore what it means to hold gratitude and worry at the same time, especially in seasons where the mind feels full, alert, or overwhelmed. They begin by grounding the conversation in a simple but powerful idea. When anxiety and “what if” thinking take up a lot of mental space, it can become harder to notice what is steady, supportive, and good. Gratitude in this context is not about minimizing fear or pretending everything is fine. Instead, it is about gently widening perspective so that worry and appreciation can coexist without one erasing the other. Throughout the episode, they highlight how gratitude does not need to be profound to matter. It can show up in small, everyday moments such as appreciating a car color that hides dirt more easily, noticing a warm cup of coffee in the morning, or finding a brief pocket of quiet in a busy day. These seemingly small observations can help anchor the nervous system back into the present. From there, the conversation expands into more foundational forms of gratitude, including appreciation for family, friendships, meaningful work, and a supportive social circle. These are often the parts of life that become background noise when stress and worry take center stage, even though they are essential sources of stability and connection. They also discuss how worry naturally narrows attention, why gratitude can feel less accessible during periods of heightened anxiety, and how intentionally noticing both small and meaningful positives can help restore balance. The goal is not to eliminate worry, but to create space for a fuller and more accurate view of lived experience. This episode offers a grounded and realistic approach to gratitude that meets people where they are, especially during emotionally heavy or overstimulated seasons. It closes with a reflective invitation for listeners to identify one small thing and one meaningful thing they can appreciate in the present moment. Healing Betrayal Trauma: EMDR, IFS & the Real Reasons People Cheat Infidelity doesn't happen in a vacuum. And healing after betrayal isn't just about “getting over it” or learning to trust again. In this deeply compassionate and eye-opening conversation, Lora sits down with marriage and sex therapist Todd Creager to explore the real roots of infidelity, betrayal trauma, emotional safety, and lasting healing. Together, they unpack how childhood wounds, attachment injuries, shame, hypervigilance, and nervous system survival patterns shape both betrayal and recovery. You'll also learn how EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) can help both betrayed partners and betrayers process trauma safely, understand their protective patterns, and move toward genuine healing and connection. This episode is not about excusing betrayal. It's about understanding it deeply enough to heal. Whether you stay or leave, this conversation will help you stop personalizing the betrayal, understand your own patterns more compassionately, and move toward clarity, safety, and self-trust. Top 3 Takeaways Infidelity is often connected to unresolved trauma, attachment wounds, and protective survival patterns that began long before the relationship. EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) can help both partners process betrayal trauma, regulate the nervous system, and heal emotional wounds safely. Healing after infidelity isn't about rushing back into trust — it's about rebuilding emotional safety, understanding protective patterns, and creating real change over time. Favorite Quotes “You don't just cheat. It doesn't happen in a vacuum.” “Life is generous. It helps us wake up to the parts of ourselves we didn't know how to love before.” “Healing is not about forcing trust. Paperclips & Periods Podcast with Dr. Emily Cabrera & Katie Krych: Why it can Feel so Difficult for Women to truly Rest

Episode 13: Why it can Feel so Difficult for Women to truly Rest In this episode, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c) explore why it can feel so difficult for women to truly rest, even when there is time to do so. While rest is often framed as a simple choice, many women find that the moment they sit down, their minds become more active, running through responsibilities, to-do lists, and unfinished tasks. They discuss how this is not just about being “busy,” but about the constant mental load many women carry. Expectations at home, caregiving roles, work demands, and the pressure to stay productive all contribute to a brain that stays on, even when the body stops. Over time, the nervous system can become used to this constant state of alertness, making stillness feel uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or even guilt-inducing. The belief that rest must be earned can further reinforce this pattern, making it harder to slow down without feeling like something is being neglected. This episode offers a grounded and compassionate perspective, helping listeners understand that difficulty with rest is not a personal failure, but a learned pattern shaped by both environment and biology. It encourages small, realistic shifts, reminding listeners that rest does not have to be perfect to be meaningful. Even brief moments of pause, despite a busy mind, still count. It closes with a simple reflection, inviting listeners to notice one small moment in their day where they allowed themselves to pause, and to begin seeing that as a valid and necessary form of rest. Awakening to True Happiness with David Hoffmeister: The Gift of Being Clueless

Play Episode Listen Later May 15, 2026 57:18

The Gift of Being Clueless It's easy to get stuck in our own heads, thinking we know who we are, which can actually keep us from seeing our true selves. That's the big takeaway from the amazing movie session we had last weekend as part of the “The Way” series. David's story, about an obituary agency owner who goes bankrupt, really hit home. He showed us that not knowing what to expect can be a blessing, even if it feels like a curse to those going through it. When the main character lost his obituary agency, he started to question who he was, what he was supposed to do, and what his purpose in life was. Interestingly, that “clueless” feeling is actually the best way to embrace what Jesus has been telling us for over 2,000 years: that we are the Son of God. The movie session also gave David a chance to talk about ownership, the idea that things are scarce, the search for love in idols, and how all that needs to be forgiven. The real issue is judgment, which is why Jesus said that nothing you see really matters in the very first lesson of the ACIM workbook. We weren't made to judge. While we think we know which situations are good or bad, we'll keep trying to get the ego's approval. Why rely on that when God has already made us worthy? These gatherings take place during the first three weekends in April 2026 and include teachings, films, music, panel discussions, and live Q&A sessions with David Hoffmeister.
