For 28 years, Ellen lived under a wrongful diagnosis. Today, she speaks to help others find their path to healing. Ellen Lubensky attorney, is a speaker and advocate whose life was transformed by a wrongful psychiatric diagnosis that led to nearly three decades of unnecessary medication and physical decline. After discovering the truth about her misdiagnosis, Ellen made the brave decision to carefully taper off the medications that had been harming her for decades. She has been tapering for 4 years, with approximately two more years remaining in her journey. Alongside her tapering process, Ellen embraced holistic approaches to healing, which have become a cornerstone of her recovery. Today, she speaks publicly to raise awareness about psychiatric misdiagnosis, medication harm, patient advocacy, and the hope of recovery. Ellen's story resonates with healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, mental health communities, and anyone who has experienced medical misdiagnosis or is seeking inspiration for their own healing journey. Ellen Shares: I have a life story like none other in the universe and a firm calling to share it with intention. I was physically disabled by tardive dyskinesia, a side effect of antipsychotics, for 20 years. At 45, I set firm boundaries with my psychiatrist of 25 years to taper me off antipsychotics. During my taper, which is the process by which you gradually decrease the amount of medication you are taking, I went to neurologically baseline and was able to do all the physical activities I could not do for 20 years. On the last night of my taper, which went way too quickly, I became a complete insomniac. I have been in protracted withdrawal for over three years and am currently withdrawing from benzodiazepines. While I was on antipsychotics, my personality changed and my IQ went down almost 30 points. I currently have severe concentration issues that will prevent me from working in the law for years. However, I can speak publicly about my experiences. Many people have seizures or go to psychosis in withdrawal. My family still has enough money for the best of the best care. I will be setting up a charity to help those without my resources. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or TikTok. I am in search of a publicist because I have a message that needs to be heard. https://ellenlubensky.com/ https://www.facebook.com/ellen.lubensky https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Ellen+Lubensky Call In and Chat with Deborah during Live Show: 833-220-1200 or 319-527-2638 Learn more about Deborah here: www.lovebyintuition.com

Why Being the “Good Girl” Keeps You Stuck After Betrayal (The Hidden Cost No One Talks About) If you've been trying to handle betrayal “the right way”—staying calm, being understanding, holding everything together—this episode will change how you see your healing. Because the truth is, the women who stay stuck the longest after infidelity aren't the ones who fall apart… They're the ones who stay kind, capable, and in control. In this powerful episode, Lora Cheadle breaks down the hidden cost of being the “good girl” after betrayal—and how empathy, emotional intelligence, and over-functioning can quietly lead to self-abandonment. You'll learn how fawning shows up as a nervous system response, why the “assumption trap” keeps you focused on fixing your partner or your marriage, and how to reclaim your clarity, voice, and power—without losing your softness. Top 3 Takeaways Being “good” can keep you stuck Your kindness, patience, and ability to hold everything together are strengths—but when they override your truth, they lead to confusion, indecision, and self-abandonment. Fawning is not love—it's a survival response Smoothing things over, managing emotions, and avoiding conflict may feel like care, but they're often rooted in conditioning and nervous system patterns that keep you disconnected from yourself. You're not the problem—but you are the point of power You didn't cause the betrayal. But your clarity, boundaries, and self-trust determine what happens next. Pull Quotes “Fawning looks like kindness… but it's actually self-abandonment.” Who This Episode Is For This episode is for you if: You've been trying to “handle this well” instead of expressing how you really feel You tend to over-function, over-give, or take responsibility for others' emotions You feel stuck in indecision after betrayal You're not sure whether to stay or leave—but you know something has to change LOVE THE SHOW? Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #667 is another hour of visionary improvised acoustic played and sung live by The Gaea Star Band featuring Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, ukulele, acoustic guitar and mandolin, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded at the end of April 2026 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's hour begins with the sprightly, gentling rocking “Welcome New Life, Welcome Spring” a fantastical spring song with a soaring vocal from Mariam above throbbing Native drum, chiming ukulele and dancing piano. “Let's Revel In The Glory” continues today's joyful celebration of spring, an untamed, forest built on Mariam's wild, pagan mandolin and Bob's racing, circular, minimalist piano and “In Search Of The Yellow” is a compelling South Seas maritime tale driven by skipping congas, gentle acoustic guitar and Mariam's engrossing story told in melody. “Always Blossoming With Peaceful Joy” is another beautiful summer reverie with bittersweet piano and rich acoustic guitar setting up Mariam's gorgeous, soaring vocal. “If You Knew What Was In Your Heart” is another gentle rocker with a powerful, mantra-like, bluesy coda and “Queen Of Heaven” from Mariam's “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP is played tightly and with superb energy. “Let Me Love You” from the “Gaea Star Crystal” album is given a lilting, Latin treatment with fine acoustic guitar and vocals from Mariam and racing blues passages from Bob and “Twin Flame”, also from the “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP is presented in all its mystical, waltz-time starry splendor, featuring a darkling, midnight coda. Today's show finishes with an inspired Latin Jazz take on Mariam's minor blues “Standing Ones Of Peace” with white hot piano and throbbing Native drum setting up Mariam's powerful vocal. Your Soul's Blueprint with Jennifer Clair On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show, host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt has special guest Jennifer Clair. Little bit about Jennifer's story from her: I practice Evolutionary Astrology because it fosters deep self-understanding, validation, and clarity about one's path. I came to this work because someone believed in me and saw my potential to make a meaningful difference. At the core, I think that's what many of us are searching for—a sense of purpose that feels aligned, fulfilling, and inspires us to show up each day in service. Astrology wasn't something I initially chose for myself, but when I allowed it as a possibility, the opportunity unfolded naturally. That experience taught me the importance of staying open to the unexpected and trusting where new paths may lead. When we give ourselves permission to explore beyond self-doubt and indecision, we often discover a direction that feels both meaningful and true. Short bio: Jennifer Clair is an Evolutionary Astrologer dedicated to helping individuals understand their inner landscape and align with their highest potential. Through a grounded, client-centered approach, she translates the language of the natal chart into practical insight that supports personal growth, emotional clarity, and self-awareness. Her work emphasizes astrology as a tool for meaning – offering a deeper sense of direction, purpose, and connection to one's life path. Jennifer believes that when people understand the “why” behind their experiences, they are better equipped to navigate challenges with resilience and intention. She integrates psychological insight with evolutionary astrology to support mental and emotional well-being in a way that is both empowering and accessible. Through consultations, education, and ongoing support, Jennifer helps clients cultivate a more conscious and compassionate relationship with themselves. Episode 12: Gratitude even when Worry feels Present and Persistent In this episode, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c) explore what it means to notice gratitude even when worry feels present and persistent. When the mind is focused on stress, uncertainty, or “what if” thinking, it becomes easy to overlook the things that are actually supporting us day to day. Gratitude in these moments is not about ignoring worry or pretending everything is fine, but about gently widening perspective so that both concern and appreciation can exist at the same time. This conversation highlights how gratitude does not have to be complicated or profound to be meaningful. Sometimes it looks like appreciating something as simple as the color of your car because it does not show dirt as easily, which makes life feel a little more manageable. It can also look like noticing a warm cup of coffee in the morning, a quiet moment in the car, or a small window of calm during a busy day. From there, they expand into deeper forms of gratitude that often get overlooked during stress, such as appreciation for family, steady friendships, meaningful work, and a supportive social circle. These are the foundational parts of life that can fade into the background when worry takes over attention. They also discuss how worry can narrow focus, why gratitude can feel harder to access during heightened anxiety, and how intentionally noticing small and large blessings can help bring balance back into perspective. The goal is not to eliminate worry, but to create space for both reality and appreciation to coexist. This episode offers a grounded and realistic approach to gratitude that meets people where they are, especially in seasons where the mind feels full and overwhelmed. It closes with a brief reflection to help listeners identify one small and one meaningful thing they can appreciate in the present moment. Coming Home to Yourself After Grief and Loss with Darnese Daniels Season 2 of That Part continues with another question answered by the Black women in our lives: If you could talk about anything on a podcast, what would it be? This episode is Darnese's answer. Darnese Daniels joins us for a conversation about grief, not just the moment of loss, but what comes after. The part no one really prepares you for. The quiet. The identity shift. The version of you that no longer exists and the one still taking shape. Verta and Naa sit with what it means to come home to yourself after grief and loss. They explore how grief changes the way you move, love, and see the world, and how, for many Black women, that process happens while everything else keeps going. From the pressure to keep holding it all together to the unspoken ways grief reshapes your sense of self, this conversation moves through loss, truth, and the slow work of becoming. Because grief does not just take something from you. It tells the truth about you. And coming home to yourself is not about going back. It is about claiming who you are now. Season 2 continues to bring new voices into the room while staying rooted in what That Part has always been. Real conversation. Cultural truth. And the things we don't always say out loud. Why Betrayal Makes it Feel Like Your Whole Life Was a Lie What if the most painful part of betrayal isn't what happened—but what it reveals? In this powerful episode, Lora Cheadle explores why betrayal feels like your whole life was a lie—not because every moment was fake, but because the map you were using to navigate life no longer works. From childhood beliefs about love, goodness, and fairness to the harsh awakening that life isn't always transactional, this conversation unpacks the deeper grief beneath betrayal: the collapse of your worldview, your identity, and your sense of safety. Through personal stories, grounded insight, and powerful metaphors—from The Matrix to navigating a foreign country without a map—Lora helps you understand why you feel so disoriented… and how to begin building a new reality rooted in truth, self-trust, and clarity. If you've ever thought: “I don't know who I am anymore” “Nothing feels real” “How could I not have seen this?” “What do I do now?” This episode will help you make sense of what you're feeling—and show you the path forward. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal doesn't just break your heart—it breaks your worldview. The deepest pain isn't just what happened. It's realizing the rules you believed in—love, loyalty, fairness—don't guarantee the outcomes you expected. You're not crazy—you're disoriented. After betrayal, your mind is trying to make sense of a reality that no longer matches your internal map. That confusion, panic, and second-guessing are normal responses to a shattered belief system. Healing isn't about going back—it's about building a new map. The goal isn't to restore your old life or beliefs. It's to create a new foundation based on truth, self-trust, and the ability to navigate life as it actually is. Pull Quotes “Betrayal is not just the loss of a relationship. It's the loss of the belief that life works the way you thought it did.” LOVE THE SHOW? TAKE THE NEXT STEP Don't just listen—start healing. "Guided by Spirit: Undoing Judgment Through Trust” In this second movie session from The Way, David uses an inspiring documentary to show how intuition and guidance can lead to a miraculous undoing of judgment. The story of a young boy born in precarious conditions who went on to become a wealthy entrepreneur goes way beyond what the Ego would label as success. His guided path towards that is the demonstration of how the Holy Spirit acts. In a world where the truth is concealed by veils we call reality, we need help to release the illusions that keep us trapped. That help comes through trust. This entrepreneur first trusted his mentor, a man who had connections with the mafia. David warned that, although he also frequently used "purple words" – as a former president of the United States classified his swearing – that was also a veil hiding a precious heart. Judgment is the error. Eventually, guidance led this man to completely change his personal plans. After repeatedly saying he would never marry or move to California, he ended up in Beverly Hills with his wife and kids. That shows how important flexibility is for those willing to accept the Atonement. The fact that he changed so many lives along his way confirms that salvation is not a personal task. It is collective, with mighty companions that the Holy Spirit connects us with all along the way. Why Betrayal Lives in the Body: The Missing Piece of Healing After Infidelity What if the hardest part of betrayal isn't just what happened—but what your body is still carrying because of it? In this powerful conversation, Lora sits down with somatic educator and healer Aimee Takaya to explore the connection between betrayal, trauma, tension, and the body. Together, they unpack why betrayal lives in the nervous system, why talking about it is not always enough, and how unresolved pain can keep showing up as anxiety, hypervigilance, rage, tightness, exhaustion, and even chronic pain. Aimee shares her own story of betrayal in marriage, what healing actually looked like for her and her husband, and why somatic work can be the missing piece when you feel stuck in your healing. If you have ever wondered why you still feel activated even when you “know better,” this conversation will help you understand what your body is trying to tell you—and how to finally begin letting it go. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal is not just emotional—it becomes physical. Your body stores tension, fear, hypervigilance, and pain long after the event itself is over. Healing is not about “getting over it” as quickly as possible. It is a process of creating enough safety in your body to release what has been held for years—or even generations. Somatic work can help you listen with “new ears,” soften your nervous system, strengthen your boundaries, and stop reacting from old patterns of fear and pain. Pull Quotes “Betrayal is not just something that happens to your heart. It happens to your body, your nervous system, your sense of safety, and your ability to trust yourself.” About Aimee Takaya Aimee Takaya is a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator, Somatic Yoga Teacher, Podcaster and Transformation Facilitator. She has been professionally teaching movement and working with a wide range of bodies and challenges for over 14 years. She loves to help you connect your body and ALL its messages in new and empowering ways. Aimee knows from personal experience the power of compassionate somatic practice to heal from chronic pain and adverse life experiences. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #665 is an hour of dynamic, visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, shruti box, mandolin, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, ukulele and Tibetan bowls, Bob Sherwood on piano, Craig Harris on congas and Native drum and this week's special guest guitarist Aramis Esteves on electric and classical guitars. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in mid-April of 2026, today's show begins with the languid, mystical raga “So Alive”, a meditative piece underpinned by Mariam's chiming DADGAD-tuned Martin 12-string acoustic and featuring fine atmospheric electric guitar textures from Aramis. “A Tiny Whispering From The Depths Of Your Heart” continues the drone vibe with more 12-string from Mariam with languid, imaginative contributions from the ensemble over Craig's rock steady heartbeat Native drum. Completing today's tryptich of raga-type pieces is the gorgeously mysterious “Full Moonlight”, a compelling, moving piece that capitalizes on the themes expressed in the first two pieces, bringing the song cycle to a dramatic, concise and powerfully prayerful climax. “Shining Brightly” shakes up today's mood, showing up as a Led Zeppelin-esque pop rock song down to Mariam's modal melody and expressive, forward mandolin and the “riff” structure of Bob and Aramis' Eastern-inflected unisons. The interlocked “There's A River” and “Everyone Feel All Right” form a contemplative tone poem underpinned by Mariam's relaxed, droning shruti box and unhurried accompaniment as Aramis puts the electric guitar aside for mellow, whispering nylon string guitar textures. Next, the band picks up Mariam's powerful “Restonre” from the “Release” LP and converts this environmental anthem into a powerfully restrained earth prayer with a powerful vocal from Mariam accentuated by the tight, dancing framework of Mariam's acoustic guitar and Aramis' earthy nylon string. “Your Eyes Shine”, Mariam's “Smooth Sailin' Love Songs” LP standout is reimagined as a sultry ballad with a smooth, languid vocal from Mariam over a richly choreographed, varied accompaniment. We complete today's show with an ambitious, energized take on Mariam's “We Call In The Elements”, a multi-movement exploration if this rich, elemental piece featuring racing ukulele, tight nylon string guitar, fundamental Native drum and every-mutating, powerfully minimalist piano. Episode 11: We're Fine. Totally Fine. In this episode, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c) talk about the things that women say don't bother them but absolutely do. The small stuff. The stuff that feels too minor to bring up but somehow lives rent free. A friend who never follows through on plans. Finally sitting down and your kid immediately needs something. Someone questioning why you bothered getting an advanced degree. Other people posting photos of your children without asking. Replaying a conversation in your head long after it's over. None of it feels "big enough" to say out loud, so it doesn't get said. It just gets carried. This episode is about naming those moments honestly, understanding why women are so quick to minimize their own reactions, and what it costs over time when nothing is ever allowed to actually bother you. It closes with a grounding exercise and a reminder that your feelings don't need to pass a threshold before they count. Infidelity, Trauma & the Nervous System: Why Healing Is So Complex (and What Actually Works) Infidelity is rarely simple—and healing from it isn't either. In this grounded, deeply human conversation, Lora sits down with trauma therapist Dr. Monique Thompson to explore the real complexity behind betrayal, relationships, and recovery. This is not a conversation about quick fixes, blame, or black-and-white answers. It's about understanding what's actually happening beneath the surface—neurologically, emotionally, and relationally. Together, they unpack how trauma lives in the body, why you can look “fine” while your nervous system is in distress, and how early experiences—even preverbal ones—shape the way we connect, react, and make decisions in relationships. They also explore the truth about infidelity: it's not always clear-cut, it's not always intentional in the way we think, and it's never just about the moment it happened. Betrayal often uncovers deeper layers—identity, attachment, self-worth, and long-standing patterns that were already in motion. This episode is a powerful reminder that healing requires slowing down, tending to yourself, and getting the right support. Whether you stay, leave, or don't yet know what you want, there is no one “right” path—only your path. If you've been trying to make sense of what happened, or wondering why this feels so overwhelming, this conversation will help you understand why—and what actually helps. Top 3 Takeaways Infidelity is complex and rarely black-and-white. It often reflects deeper patterns, trauma, and unmet needs that existed long before the relationship. Trauma is not just emotional—it is biological. You can appear functional on the outside while your nervous system is in a state of stress or survival. Healing requires support, not isolation. Whether through therapy, coaching, or a team approach, having guidance helps you regulate, process, and make aligned decisions. Pull Quotes “You can look fine on the outside—and still have a nervous system that thinks it's in a war zone.” About Monique Dr. Monique Thompson, DHA, LPC, LPC-S, is an EMDR-trained trauma and infidelity recovery therapist based in Dallas with over 24 years of experience in private practice. She specializes in helping individuals and couples heal from betrayal, restore trust, and rebuild their lives with clarity and confidence by integrating faith, neuroscience, and psychology. Dr. Thompson is the bestselling author of Infidelity Recovery Workbook for Couples: Tools and Exercises to Rebuild Your Relationship, a practical and compassionate guide for couples navigating the aftermath of infidelity. In addition to her clinical work, she has served for over 21 years as a consultant with SMU's Perkins School of Theology and is an Associate Faculty member at the University of Phoenix, where she has been nominated Faculty of the Year for four consecutive years (2020–2023). “Stepping Out of the Maze of Time through Giving” In this session, David uses a mini-movie to explore the mental traps of the past and the liberating realization that we can never truly "fix" what never happened. Using the metaphor of a man traveling back into the 1960s to prevent a tragedy, David provides a deep commentary on how the ego uses "do-overs" to keep us tethered to linear time. The discussion illuminates how the past is a relentless force that resists change, yet it shows that the only way to truly escape the maze of "what if" is through the present-moment practice of giving and forgiveness. As David navigates through this gripping story of a time-traveling English teacher, we are invited to see that attempting to alter the dream only tightens its grip, while accepting the Holy Spirit's interpretation of the present sets us free. The Biological Detour: A podcast about Cancer, Fertility, and the Path to Motherhood They tell you to fight for your life, but nobody mentions the life you were planning to start. When a diagnosis crashes into your dreams of motherhood, the world doesn't just stop—it shifts. Today on Her Health Compass, we're talking about something that many people don't realize cancer can take from patients: their fertility. What does it mean to navigate the dream of parenthood while facing a life-changing diagnosis? We're thrilled to be joined by Suzanne Stone, CEO of the Livestrong Foundation, an organization that helps cancer patients access so many different resources, including support around fertility preservation and family planning and Shea Mencel, co-founder of We Are Here and . In this episode, we'll hear Shea's incredible journey, talk about why conversations around fertility are so important for cancer patients, and explore how organizations like Livestrong are helping people build families even in the face of cancer. Suzanne Stone is a graduate of Texas Christian University and a native of Louisiana. Her career began in the television industry in Dallas, earning a regional Emmy Award for her work. She eventually traded producing television for teaching it in the non-profit sector in 1998, working in public access television both in Naperville, Illinois, and then in upstate New York. After enjoying her four-year tenure as Head Coach of the local New York community college women's basketball team while running the station, she headed back to Texas. Since arriving, she's worked and led local non-profits around the state like Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Children's Miracle Network, Lake Travis Education Foundation, and Susan G. Komen Greater Central and East Texas. Continuing to look for ways to scale social impact, she joined Livestrong to lead their mission initiatives in 2019. In November of 2023 she became President & CEO where she leads the team to ensure anyone affected by cancer has the resources and tools they need to have the highest quality of life possible. Shea Mencel is a Co-Founder and the VP of Navigation & Impact at We Are Here, a software platform built to close critical gaps in cancer care by connecting patients and families to the right support—exactly when they need it. As a certified integrative health coach and two-time breast cancer survivor, Shea brings both lived experience and professional expertise to reimagining how care is delivered beyond the clinic. Her journey to motherhood was profoundly shaped by cancer. First diagnosed with stage II breast cancer at 29, followed by a metastatic recurrence at 32, Shea faced the loss of her ability to carry a pregnancy- completely redefining her path to family. Through embryo preservation and ultimately growing her family with the help of a gestational carrier, she experienced firsthand the emotional complexity of fertility after cancer - the grief, uncertainty, and hope that coexist in this journey.

Why He Can't Stop: The Truth About Porn Addiction, Cheating & Compulsive Behavior in Relationships You keep asking the same question: Why does he keep doing this—even when he knows it hurts me? In this eye-opening episode, Lora sits down with former Buddhist monk and addiction expert Jeremy Lipkowitz to unpack the real reasons behind compulsive behaviors like porn use, cheating, and addiction. This conversation goes far beyond surface-level answers. Together, they explore how addictive behaviors form, why they aren't about you, and what true recovery actually requires. If you've ever felt confused, hurt, or stuck trying to understand your partner's behavior—this episode will bring clarity, validation, and a new way forward. Top 3 Takeaways It's not about you—it's a coping mechanism. Most addictive behaviors begin early and are rooted in emotional regulation, not love, attraction, or relationship satisfaction. Addiction is about pain, not pleasure. The real question isn't “Why the addiction?”—it's “What pain is being avoided?” Healing requires addressing the root, not just stopping the behavior. You can't shame someone into change—but you can create awareness. True transformation happens through self-awareness, accountability, and building a life that no longer needs escape. Pull Quotes "Addiction isn't about wanting more pleasure—it's about trying to escape a life that doesn't feel good.” About Jeremy Jeremy Lipkowitz is a former Buddhist monk, meditation teacher, and ICF-certified executive coach who helps high-achieving men break free from compulsive behaviors—especially porn addiction—and build lives of integrity, discipline, and deep fulfillment. With over 13 years of meditation experience and hundreds of days spent in silent retreat, Jeremy blends ancient wisdom with cutting-edge science to guide individuals toward emotional resilience and personal freedom. A former genetic researcher who earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Genetics & Genomics and pursued a PhD at Duke University, Jeremy left academia after confronting his own struggles with addiction, shame, and self-judgment. A brief period of monastic training in Myanmar deepened his mindfulness practice and marked the start of a lifelong commitment to personal growth and service. As the founder of Unhooked Academy and host of the Unhooked Podcast, Jeremy is a leading voice in destigmatizing porn addiction and educating the public on effective, science-based recovery strategies. His work helps men overcome shame, understand the neuroscience of addiction, and create lasting transformation through mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and habit change. For over a decade, Jeremy has taught at universities, recovery centers, and global companies across the U.S. and Asia. His calm, grounded presence and ability to bridge analytical thinking with inner work make him a sought-after guide for professionals and executives looking to reclaim their lives from digital distractions and self-sabotaging patterns. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #663 is an hour of inspired, intrepid, visionary acoustic improvised music by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, 4- and 8-string ukulele, acoustic guitar, Celtic harp, dulcimer and mandolin, Bob Sherwood on piano and dulcimer and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts at the very end of March 2026, today's show begins with the powerful, affecting immigrant song “Standing Strong In Front Of The World”, a deep, inspiring prayer that features a soaring Native flute and voice dialog from Mariam and rich, imaginative piano from Bob. Mariam's chiming, evocative 8-string ukulele forms a rich framework for “Oh, The Queen Moon”, a starry, mesmerizing reel with a beautiful vocal from Mariam over slowly unwinding minimalist piano polyrhythms. “Smile” is the band's favorite raga, a forest rock song by Mariam from the “For The Children” LP driven powerfully by Craig's throbbing Native drum and Mariam's racing, ancient-soiunding dulcimer and “Rainbow In The Sky” is a fantastical fantasy lulled by Mariam's soaring, melancholy vocal and chiming acoustic guitar. Mariam wields her forward, jangling mandolin for the mysterious, twisting, unusual “Bring In The Beauty”, a gorgeous ballad with a deep heartbeat from Craig and druidic dancing mandolin and piano. “Do The Impossible” appropriately features Bob's debut on the dulcimer as Mariam builds a compelling chordal framework on the mandolin and delivers a tight modal melody. “Ryalia”, from the “Release” LP is given a tight, jazzy rendition with top notch work from the whole ensemble and we conclude today's show with “How Do You Feel”, a gentle, bittersweet gospel ballad with skipping, childlike piano, a pretty, expressive melody and Mariam's overtone-producing double flute framing an innovative, touching arrangement. Existential Kink and Shadow Work in Midlife Love What if the painful patterns in your love life are not random? What if some hidden part of you is actually attached to the very thing you say you do not want? In this powerful conversation, Junie sits down with Dr. Carolyn Lovewell, also known as Carolyn Elliott, author of Existential Kink. Together they explore shadow work, unconscious desire, spiritual transformation, and how embracing what we resist can dissolve long standing relationship patterns. Carolyn shares how she uncovered an unconscious desire for obsessive love inside an unhealthy relationship and how fully owning that desire allowed her to walk away in freedom. The conversation dives into the body, the divine, irritation, pleasure, surrender, and the radical idea that what we resist persists and what we love changes. Episode 10: The Burden of Being Reliable In this episode, Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC and Katie Krych, MSN, RN, PMHNP(c) talk about what happens when being the dependable one stops feeling like a strength and starts feeling like a trap. They explore how women often step into the role of the reliable friend, partner, parent, and colleague—not always by choice, but because someone had to, and they were the ones who showed up. Layered on top of that is the mental load—the invisible, relentless work of remembering, planning, organizing, and anticipating the needs of everyone around them, while their own needs quietly fall to the bottom of the list. From scheduling appointments and managing the household to making decisions at work and showing up emotionally for everyone in their circle, the mental load rarely gets acknowledged and almost never gets shared. Over time, that weight combined with the constant pressure to be the one with all the answers turns exhaustion into resentment. The hosts discuss how that slow burn shows up in relationships, parenting, and professional life, and why women so often suffer in silence before they ever say enough. The episode includes honest conversation about naming the mental load for what it is, recognizing resentment before it reaches a breaking point, setting boundaries without guilt, asking for help without over-explaining, and giving yourself permission to put down what was never yours to carry alone. It closes with a box breathing exercise and a reminder that being reliable should never come at the cost of your own peace. Jacob Cooper on Near-Death Experiences, Astral Travel, and the Wisdom of Jacob's Ladder Near-death experiences have become more of a problem for us, simply because they often confuse so many people. They can feel so extraordinary that some people who have them, not our guest today of course, but some recent experiencers actually think they must have died and then come back to life! And IANDS, the International Association for Near-Death Studies, used to police pretty carefully what people said at their conferences; but not so much anymore. So we are going to have to say here just quickly once again that death is ALWAYS a one-way trip! And NEAR-death experiences are instances of spontaneous, out-of-body travel into the astral plane, usually when for one reason or another, the material body is briefly unable to support life. And when that happens, and we suddenly find ourselves awake and aware in the astral plane, which is an entirely different environment from the earth, although oddly it's very earthlike and with a love-drenched atmosphere, our spirit guides will often give us weird and amazing experiences that are educational, and are meant for us alone. And then, of course we come back into our body, and we wake up. So, what can we assume but that we died and came back to life? But in fact, such a round trip to the afterlife is impossible, because the definition of death is the severing of the energy cord from your energy body to your material body that keeps your material body alive when you astral travel. And in fact, many of us astral travel nearly every night while our bodies sleep. That silver cord cannot be re-attached once it breaks. So, if some living person is able to tell you their NDE story, that person never has actually died! And they never have been to where the dead go. All of that being said, near-death experiences can be amazing, and many of them are life-transforming. And our guest today had his first transformative near-death experience when he was only three years old! Jacob Cooper is with us today for the sixth time. His first book was entitled Life After Breath, and it begins with his remarkable near-death experience at the age of only three. His second book, called The Wisdom of Jacob's Ladder, talks about his many further extraordinary spiritual experiences, and what he has learned from them. We have really loved having Jacob Cooper as our guest on Seek Reality, and we are delighted to have him back today! Learn more about Roberta here: http://robertagrimes.com https://seekreality.com/

Realigning with Self After Motherhood with Jihan J Season 2 of That Part begins with a simple but powerful shift. We asked Black women in our lives one question: If you could talk about anything on a podcast, what would it be? This episode is the first answer. Jihan returns and brings us into a conversation about realigning with self after motherhood. Not as a dramatic reinvention, but as an ongoing reckoning with identity, change, and what it means to come back to yourself after becoming everything to someone else. Verta and Naa explore the tension between devotion and disappearance, the unspoken expectations placed on Black women, and what it looks like to find yourself again after years of holding it all. From the emotional weight of being needed to the subtle ways we drift from ourselves over time, this conversation moves between the personal and the professional with honesty and care. Because motherhood changes you. But it should not erase you. Realignment is not about becoming someone new. It is about remembering who you have always been and who you are becoming. Season 2 brings new voices into the room while staying rooted in what That Part has always been. Real conversation. Cultural truth. And the things we don't always say out loud.
