Flaunt! Find Your Sparkle & Create a Life You Love After Infidelity or Betrayal with Lora Cheadle: “Perfect” Couple and Infidelity

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 27, 2026 59:42

The “Perfect” Couple and Infidelity: Why High-Achieving Relationships Break (And What to Do Next) You did everything right. You were the smart couple. The committed couple. The high-achieving, “we've got this” couple. Date nights. Careers. Kids. Goals. You worked hard. You showed up. You performed well. So how did infidelity happen to you? If you've ever thought, “We were the perfect couple. This doesn't make sense,” this episode will open your eyes in the most grounded, compassionate way. In this powerful conversation, I sit down with Rachel Dornianu of Sage Counseling & Wellness to unpack the hidden dynamics behind the “perfect couple” myth — and why high-achieving, Type A, perfectionistic relationships are often more vulnerable than they appear. We explore how perfectionism, people-pleasing, high sensitivity, emotional avoidance, and the Gottman “Four Horsemen” quietly erode intimacy over time — even in relationships that look beautiful on the outside. If you're navigating infidelity, feeling blindsided, or wondering how something could fall apart when you both “did everything right,” this episode will help you understand what really happened — and what healing actually requires. Top 3 Takeaways Perfection Isn't the Same as Connection High achievement, polished date nights, and shared goals can mask roommate syndrome, emotional loneliness, and avoidance. When couples stop pausing, attuning, and truly connecting, resentment and unmet needs quietly build beneath the surface. Performance is not intimacy. Infidelity Is Often a Maladaptive Coping Mechanism While betrayal is devastating, it's frequently rooted in avoidance, trauma, shame, unmet emotional needs, and poor coping skills — not pure moral corruption. Understanding the why doesn't excuse the behavior, but it creates clarity. And clarity is the first step toward healing. Healing Requires Addressing What Was Already There Perfectionism. People-pleasing. High sensitivity. Fawning. Walking on eggshells. Avoidance. Emotional flooding. Infidelity doesn't create these patterns — it exposes them. Whether you choose to stay or separate, the real work is learning how to regulate your nervous system, communicate honestly, and stop performing so you can start being. Favorite Quote “Perfection isn't intimacy. Performance isn't connection. And infidelity doesn't create the cracks — it exposes the ones that were already there.” Loving this show? Ready to go deeper? Gaea Star Crystal #658 is an hour of dynamic, improvised visionary acoustic music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, kalimba, ukulele, mandolin, acoustic guitar and Tibetan bowls, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts on a cold, mid-winter afternoon in mid-February of 2026, today's show begins with “Liberation”, a peaceful, prayerful raga that begins with singing bowls and features kalimba, piano and Native drum supporting Mariam's message of peace and soaring, echoing Native flute fanfares bring in “Oh, Let's Revel In Our Own Happiness”, a restless, complexly beautiful song with a fine flute-and-voice conversation over galloping Native drum and evocative, modern minor piano figurations. “Embracing The Grace” is an expansive ballad that features a fine vocal and overtone-producing double flute from Mariam with a beautifully emotional coda and “Fire Horse New Year” is a kinetic, energized minor with a powerful lyric from Mariam about new beginnings over skipping, racing piano, chiming ukulele and fundamental Native drum that resolves into a powerful, mysterious coda. “Isis”, a stately song from Mariam's “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP is rendered with a reverent, classical approach and “Reborn” from the “Gaea Star Crystal” LP is a racing, breathless minor rocker with fine vocals and a powerful instrumental hook. “Burning Ember” from Mariam's “Smooth Sailin' Love Songs” album features another powerful vocal from Mariam and we conclude this week's show with a mandolin-driven re-imagining of “All Life Unfolds” a powerful, fundamental raga with a British Isles feel.   Learn more about Mariam here: http://www.mariammassaro.com

Love By Intuition with Deborah Beauvais: Leigh Ann Phillips

Leigh Ann Phillips is an award-winning singer songwriter and sound healing educator. She is on a mission to merge sound and music to assist people in leading more fulfilling lives in healthier bodies. Her work is taking her all over the world and back again. Leigh Ann has developed a method of brainwave entrainment through the use of her voice and the quartz crystal singing bowls. It is a form of sound healing based on research on the brain as well as the musical system called the Circle of Fifths. The purpose of the work is to help people release emotions from the body, as well as raise the level of health and well being physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. She has developed a method of shifting and slowing the brain states, allowing people to not just relax but release emotional blocks that are allowing dis-ease in the body. Her method incorporates the use of the quartz crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, tingshaws, harp, piano, herbal medicine as well as her voice. Using mantras in languages such as Sanskrit, Enochian and Aramaic, Leigh Ann incorporates ancient mantras and prayers to enhance the power of the sound. This method actually places the bowls on the person, so the person is receiving not just music and sound, but also vibration. Her passion is to assist people in building an awareness of consciousness to the mind, body and spirit. Some people would call this allowing sound and music to be a bridge to the soul. Leigh Ann is now back in Crestone, Colorado! She has been bringing sound healing and the music of the quartz crystal singing bowls into the mainstream. She has given demonstrations and sound healing sessions most recently in Taiwan, the Hawaiian islands, at the Gem Exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C, as well as at a Playboy event in the Los Angeles area. She has also made television and radio appearances on various health, and lifestyle programs in Hawaii, New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, New Mexico, as well as the Orient. The sound and the music have merged, and Leigh Ann's passion for life has sounded into a path where music can bring not just beauty, but health, peace and the evolution of the soul. Leigh Ann's latest recorded album release, Mik'ael (2013), is a musical tapestry of mantras, sung in the Enochian language, accompanied by quartz crystal singing bowls and world instruments. Mik'ael is a musical collaboration with writer and producer, Thomas Barquee, recorded at Zenden Studios in California. Ideal for yoga and meditation, Mik'ael is a healing offering to the Archangel Michael, and all that is peaceful in nature and ourselves. Her next recording project will be spoken word, co-created again with Thomas Barquee. She is also the Executive Director of The Shimmering Sounds Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to bringing sound healing as a complimentary therapy to the masses. The foundation has given hundreds of free sessions to people that could not normally afford holistic health sessions. The foundation incorporates the use of a crystal healing bed as well, a complementary treatment to the sound using color, vibration and light. Currently she has developed her own line of quartz crystal singing bowls, using unusual gemstones to infuse the bowls, as well as etching ancient mandalas that amplify the intention of this sacred art through the power of the sound. https://www.leighannphillips.com/ Call In and Chat with Deborah during Live Show: 833-220-1200 or 319-527-2638 Learn more about Deborah here:  www.lovebyintuition.com

Episode 4: High‑Achieving Women Who Are Silently Struggling In this episode of Paperclips & Periods, hosts Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP‑BC, and Katharine “Katie” Krych, MSN, RN, Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education, PEL‑CSN, sit down with special guest Dr. Arlicia Miller, founder and Chief Transformation Officer of the Umbrella of Artistic Expression and life transformation coach with Dual Minds Integrative Psychiatry. Together, they dive into a topic so many women live with daily but rarely name out loud: the experience of being a high‑functioning woman who is quietly, persistently struggling beneath the surface. Drawing from Dr. Miller's transformational coaching work, Dr. Cabrera's psychiatric mental health expertise, and Katie's background in nursing and education, the conversation unpacks the hidden challenges that accompany competence, ambition, caregiving roles, and emotional labor. They explore why high‑functioning women often feel obligated to “push through,” how early conditioning reinforces silence, and why vulnerability can feel risky—even among friends, colleagues, and partners. From motherhood and marriage, to career advancement, to the weight of societal expectations, this episode explores how women learn to hold everything together externally while internally battling exhaustion, depletion, and self‑doubt. The hosts also examine how gender norms, family roles, trauma histories, and cultural narratives shape women's measurements of worthiness and success. With compassion and honesty, they discuss the “struggle bus,” the fear of judgment, the stigma around asking for help, and the labels women often carry without realizing how deeply they shape identity. Grounded in lived experience, psychology, and integrative wellness, this episode reframes “high‑functioning” not as a badge of honor, but as a clue—an invitation to pause, rest, and reconnect with one's authentic self. As always, the hosts offer thoughtful takeaways and practical strategies, including the importance of small resets, the power of journaling, the need for safe relationships, and even a guided moment of box breathing to help listeners regulate their nervous systems in real time. Reflective, relatable, and deeply human, this episode encourages women to release the myth of having it all together and replace it with a more compassionate truth: you don't have to carry everything alone. Liz Entin Talks About WTF Just Happened? The fact is pretty universally known that for all of us, those that we love, who are older than we are, will likely go on ahead of us to the next stage of life. And for some of us, as it was for our great friend, Sandra Champlain, to have someone we love die is going to be the occasion for deciding that it is time for us to really research death, and to figure it all out! And so it was as well for Elizabeth Entin, who is our guest today. Liz Entin began researching the afterlife evidence and everything paranormal in 2015, following the passing of her father. While she still considers herself to be skeptical, and even an atheist, (although she is a cultural Jew), the evidence that she discovered for the afterlife really blew her away. She is the author of two books in the WTF Just Happened series: The first is Book One – WTF Just Happened?!: A sciencey-skeptic explores grief, healing, and evidence of an afterlife  And the second is Book Two –  WTF Just Happened?!: A sciencey skeptic investigates even more evidence of an afterlife and fights for justice with her dead dog. She is the host of a podcast called, WTF Just Happened?!: All about the afterlife. No woo. She also runs “Science and Spirituality”, which is a private events group, an intimate group of just you and your friends, where you can learn more about the science behind an afterlife, and get readings from highly evidential mediums who have been tested by scientists. The Questions Everyone Asks After Betrayal (But Are Sometimes Hard to Put Into Words) The Questions Everyone Asks After Betrayal (But Are Sometimes Hard to Put Into Words) begin long before you say them out loud. After betrayal, the questions don't stop. They wake you up at 2 a.m. They loop in your mind while you're driving. They rise in your throat… and sometimes you're too afraid to even ask them. Why does this hurt so much? Will I ever trust again? Should I stay or leave? Am I broken? Will I survive the answer? In this powerful, nervous-system–aware episode, Lora answers the most common questions people search for after infidelity and betrayal — not with platitudes, but with grounded insight, lived experience, and deep compassion. More importantly, she helps you listen for the question beneath the question — the one that's really asking: Am I safe? Am I going to be okay? Can I trust myself again? If you've ever Googled your pain late at night, wondered how long healing takes, or feared that asking the wrong question might make everything worse, this episode is for you. You are not wrong for having questions. You are not weak for needing reassurance. And you are not broken. Top 3 Takeaways The question beneath the question is always about safety. Whether you're asking why it hurts, how long healing takes, or whether you should stay or go — underneath it all is a deeper question: Am I safe? Can I trust myself again? Healing is not linear — but it is possible. The nervous system needs time, regulation, and support. Feeling better is not the same as feeling regulated — and that distinction matters. Trust is rebuilt inside you first. You cannot rely on your partner to restore your safety. Rebuilding self-trust, alignment, and internal steadiness is the foundation for everything else. Favorite Quote “The most important work after betrayal isn't answering the loudest question — it's listening for the question beneath the question.” In This Episode, We Explore: Why betrayal hurts more than you imagined Why your nervous system feels overloaded How long healing really takes Why “stay or go” is often the wrong first question Why triggers persist (and what they actually mean) Whether relationships can truly recover Why you might be afraid to ask certain questions How to listen for the question beneath the question Couples Q&A Invitation If you're in a relationship and have questions about rebuilding trust, repair, reconciliation, or what's realistic after infidelity, we want to hear from you. Kelli also talks about how to know the difference between certified coaches and uncertified. Also licenses mental health professionals vs unlicensed. Giving more background about why we are having certified coaches for our program.  Little bit about Kelli's story from her: I decided to become a Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) Coach in 2020 after I had experienced the power of NLP on my own mindset. I was living in fear due to 2 traumatic events that I paired together. I was living in fear of losing anyone else in my life after the loss of my sister to suicide and after my son had seizures on the day of her celebration of life. When I found NLP, it transformed my life and allowed me to find the fear, shift the 2 events and replace it with curiosity that same day. That night I went home and everything in my life shifted. I realized if it could help me so much, I wanted to learn more, so that I could help others. This started my journey of getting all the levels of certification starting at Practitioner, Masters, Training and Consulting, Coaching Foundations and Coaching Building Blocks, which lead to completing my ICF (international Coaching Federation) Certification.  Most recently I completed the training to become a Peer & Family Support Specialist and will start the journey of becoming certified in that also. I believe in furthering my education and adding certifications because it helps me be a better coach and support to those that are truly struggling.  I'm walking the walk, not just talking the talk. And continuing to level up my education to help 1 million people by 2030.  Short bio: Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, Warrior for Mental Health, and CEO/Founder of Make Mental Health Matter, a nonprofit born from heartbreak and built to save lives. After losing her sister to suicide in 2017, Kelli dedicated her life to helping others have the hard conversations about mental health, substance use, and suicide before it's too late. A TEDx and keynote speaker, Kelli is also an ICF ACC certified NLP Coach, Mental Health Educator, and Author. She holds a B.A. in Communication with a minor in Psychology, along with advanced certifications in NLP Training and Consulting through Worldwide Institutes of NLP. She is certified to teach Adult, Youth, and Teen Mental Health First Aid, and is an ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Trainer. Episode 3: Setting Boundaries Without Becoming the Villain – Paperclips & Periods Podcast In this episode of Paperclips & Periods, the conversation focuses on one of the most challenging and misunderstood topics for women: boundaries. Hosted by Dr. Emily K. Cabrera, EdD, MSN, CAGS, PMHNP-BC, and Katharine “Katie” Krych, MSN, RN, Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education, PEL-CSN, this episode features Dr. Jamy Gaynor, EdD, MS, RN, NCSN, MSN(c), a neuroscience-trained school nurse whose work centers on child development, emotional regulation, and nervous system awareness. Drawing from Jamy's experience working closely with children, families, and school systems, alongside Dr. Cabrera's background in psychiatric mental health and Katie's experience in nursing and education, the conversation explores how boundaries are shaped by caregiving roles, trauma, and social conditioning — and why women are often penalized for setting them. This episode examines how boundary challenges show up across the lifespan, from childhood and adolescence to adult personal and professional relationships. Particular attention is given to how children, especially girls, internalize messages about compliance, emotional labor, and self-advocacy. Grounded in psychology, neuroscience, and lived experience, the discussion reframes boundaries not as rejection or conflict, but as essential practices for safety, clarity, and self-respect. Thoughtful, reflective, and intentionally human, this episode invites listeners to reconsider what it means to hold boundaries — and why doing so is an act of care for ourselves and future generations. Paperclips & Periods is broadcast on the Dreamvisions 7 Radio Network, a Boston-based syndicated internet radio station with a global reach. The network streams shows locally, nationally, and internationally — with listeners in well over 135 countries around the world, and in some listings even 200+ countries across platforms and syndication partners. Healing Is a Collaborative Endeavour In this "Mission Accomplished" Saturday morning movie session, David Hoffmeister uses a mini-movie to illuminate a radical spiritual breakthrough: the realization that our innocence is already complete. The narrative, condensed from multiple action films, serves as a powerful metaphor for the ego's complex plots and the Holy Spirit's swift undoing of them.  David focuses on two pivotal metaphysical themes: The Illusion of Time and Control: Drawing on A Course in Miracles Lesson 158, David explains that "time is a trick, a sleight of hand." He emphasizes that the ego uses the past and future to distract us from the Holy Instant, where our safety lies. By letting go of the need to control the "script" of our lives, we discover that the mission of salvation is already accomplished through the Atonement. Transcending the Ego's Distractions: The session explores how the mind is often fooled into believing it is a separate, physical entity at the mercy of external circumstances. David invites us to "peer behind the curtain" and see that all conflict—whether a nuclear threat on screen or a personal grievance—is merely a projection of a split mind. Through his commentary, David guides listeners to hear the gentle whisper of Jesus saying, "Mission Accomplished," allowing us to surrender our worries and judgments in favor of the happiness that is our natural inheritance. These gatherings take place every weekend in February and March 2026 and include teachings, films, music, panel discussions, and live Q&A sessions with David Hoffmeister. Flaunt! Find Your Sparkle & Create a Life You Love After Infidelity or Betrayal with Lora Cheadle: Betrayal Trauma Isn't What You Think

Betrayal Trauma Isn't What You Think—Why the Noise After Infidelity Keeps You Stuck If you've ever wondered why betrayal still affects you—even after you've “done the work”—this episode names the real reason. Betrayal trauma isn't just the affair. It's what happens after: the opinions, judgments, bad advice, cultural myths, and even misapplied therapy that flood in when your nervous system is already in shock. That noise keeps you doubting yourself, second-guessing your choices, and feeling stuck—no matter how smart or self-aware you are. In this episode, Lora Cheadle breaks down the noise after betrayal and explains why clarity—not pressure, forgiveness, or forced decisions—is what actually heals. You'll learn how staying after infidelity is often misunderstood, why cheating is rarely about “having your cake and eating it too,” and how even well-meaning professionals can unintentionally re-traumatize you. This is a grounded, trauma-aware conversation for anyone who feels exhausted by everyone else's opinions and just wants to hear their own truth again. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal trauma intensifies after discovery—not just during the affair. The real damage often comes from the aftermath: judgment, pressure, and narratives that were never built with trauma in mind. Staying after infidelity is not weakness—and it's not letting anyone “get away with it.” Staying can be the harder path, requiring accountability, deep personal work, and nervous-system healing on both sides. Misapplied therapy and self-help can create secondary betrayal. Rushed repair, forced forgiveness, and minimization of trauma often increase confusion instead of clarity. Smoke Signals: The Unity of One Heart and One Mind In this episode of Living on Purpose, Carolyn explores how our lives function as signals in a shared world, and what it means to live with one heart and one mind, individually and collectively. Building on the previous episode, North Shield: Embracing Wisdom and Gratitude, and teachings from the Native American Path Cards by Jamie Sams, Carolyn reflects on presence as the first form of communication. Drawing from lived experience, caregiving, loss, recovery, and life at Charlie's Place Healing Sanctuary, she explores how our inner life inevitably shapes the field around us, and how responsibility can be understood as relationship rather than pressure. The episode then turns to the teaching of one heart and one mind, inspired by a prayer of White Buffalo Calf Woman. Carolyn speaks to the exhaustion many feel today, not from effort alone, but from inner division, and offers a compassionate reframing of unity as integrity, coherence, and honest presence, even amid fear, hope, and change. In the final segment, Carolyn gathers the teachings into practice, reminding listeners that coherence is something we return to again and again through small, honest choices. She shares ways to continue this work through one-on-one offerings available at stan.store/carolynromano, by following Charlie's Place Healing Sanctuary on Facebook, and through learning and practice with Tending the Sacred at tendingthesacred.org. She also previews Threshold Medicine: Ritual, Writing and Renewal, a Spring Equinox women's retreat co-facilitated with Judy Tsafrir. The episode closes with a reminder that when heart and mind move together, our lives become a form of communication, and the signal we send is one of belonging. Jack shares how unprocessed grief, loss, and life transitions led her to write a poem every day for thirty days, ultimately transforming her relationship with herself and inspiring women everywhere to feel less alone. You'll hear about: Why unprocessed grief doesn't disappear, it waits How creative expression becomes a healing vehicle What midlife loss really looks like and why it matters Normalizing aging, emotion, and reinvention Giving yourself permission to begin again This conversation is tender, powerful, and deeply human. We have known Father Nathan here for perhaps seven years, ever since his first book came out, and Roberta could not believe at first that his spirit rescue work was something that the Catholic Church would even allow! But not only do they allow it, they seem to actively support it. So, very good for them indeed! Father Nathan Castle is a Dominican priest who lives and works in a community of Dominican men and women serving the University of Arizona in Tucson. He is a lovely, gentle, and very spiritual man, and something like thirty years ago, he was recruited by elevated beings not in bodies to do spirit rescue work with them. As it turns out, almost twenty-five percent of people will go off-track for a time when they die, and they often do that by their own choice. And our wonderful friend Father Nathan is one of those who is trusted to help to rescue some of those people, once they feel ready to complete their afterlife journeys. Father Nathan's terrific first book, which was called Afterlife, Interrupted – Helping Stuck Souls Cross Over, came out in 2019, and Roberta tells us that everything in it was completely consistent with what she had learned during all her decades of doing afterlife research. Then that book was followed by books two and three, with similar titles. Father Nathan's books are all terrific, and he has become a regular with us here. Father Nathan's website is  Father Nathan Castle, O.P. Randy shares decades of research and lived experience to challenge widely accepted narratives, examine systemic failures and coverups, and explore the deeper cultural roots of school violence. This important conversation invites listeners to keep an open heart and mind as we seek truth, honor victims, support survivors, and consider what it will truly take to prevent future tragedies. Flaunt! Find Your Sparkle & Create a Life You Love After Infidelity or Betrayal with Lora Cheadle: Why Making the ‘Right' Decision Can Feel Impossible

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 6, 2026 56:22

Why Making the ‘Right' Decision Can Feel Impossible After Betrayal Have you ever felt completely stuck trying to make a decision after betrayal — even when you're doing everything “right”? Stay or go. Try again or walk away. Trust your gut… or question it endlessly. After betrayal, even wise, thoughtful decisions can feel impossible to make. Not because you're broken — but because your nervous system is trying to keep you safe. In this episode of FLAUNT!, Lora Cheadle unpacks why decision-making feels so overwhelming after betrayal, how perfectionism and self-blame sneak in when outcomes don't match expectations, and why freeze is a trauma response — not a personal failure. Using a powerful personal story, relatable examples, and trauma-informed insight, Lora reframes what it really means to “choose wisely” and introduces discernment as the missing language betrayed women were never given. You didn't lose your ability to decide. Your system is responding intelligently to uncertainty. Top 3 Takeaways Decision paralysis after betrayal is a nervous system response, not a flaw When expectations collapse, the brain looks for certainty. Freeze is a survival strategy — not proof you can't trust yourself. New information doesn't turn a wise decision into a mistake A decision made with care and discernment deserves respect, even if the outcome changes later. Self-trust isn't about being right — it's about staying with yourself Real self-trust means knowing you won't abandon yourself when things evolve, unravel, or feel uncertain. Favorite Quotes “You didn't choose wrong. You exercised discernment — and the story kept unfolding.” “Self-trust isn't about being right. It's about knowing you won't abandon yourself when things change.” “New information doesn't retroactively make you wrong.” “Blaming yourself isn't truth. It's an attempt to feel powerful again after uncertainty.” LOVE THE SHOW? TAKE THE NEXT STEP Don't just listen—start healing. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #655 is an hour of inspired, dynamic, visionary acoustic improvised music and songs by Mariam Massaro played by Mariam on vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele, Celtic harp, mandolin and Native flute and Bob Sherwood on piano. Recorded live on January 27th of 2026 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with a driving, energized version of Mariam's powerful ode to inner strength “You're The One” featuring a fine vocal, tight, chiming acoustic guitar and inspired piano. The beautiful, sprawling, compelling music tryptich “Pushing Back/Holding The Line/Shining Brightly” is a powerful, inspiring and emotional summation of the events of our time, a musical diary of a trying era Mariam speaks a narrative of love, resistance and universal equality but always at the center of her message is the concept of unity, of oneness. Gorgeous, imaginative, detailed piano from Bob locks in with Mariam every step of the way on this extended piece, along with soaring, lyrical Native flute, an astonishing vocal performance from Mariam as well as tight, percussive ukulele. “Just Walk Away” is a fine song of Mariam's and she and Bob present it here as a country rock ballad, languid and considered, and “Arise”, a pretty folk air from Mariam's “Release” LP is lifted with Mariam's tight, evocative mandolin and sweet, soaring vocal as well as Bob's dancing piano motifs. “Twin Flame” from Mariam's “Gaea Star Goddesses” LP receives a committed, intense performance with a dramatic vocal and lilting acoustic guitar and “Pot Of Gold” is a gorgeous evocation formed around a deliciously mournful piano motif that Mariam kneads and shapes with her sinuous vocal and questing, soaring Native flute. Today's show completes with the grooving “Lead Us Down” an adventurous re-casting of Mariam's island rocker “Lead Me Down” featuring tight playing and an assured, bluesy vocal from Mariam. In Episode 7, Verta and Naa explore the power and cost of silence. From workplaces where “professionalism” replaces honesty, to families and communities where certain truths are never spoken, they unpack how silence can function as strategy, safety, resistance, and harm. They reflect on the unspoken knowledge Black women carry, the emotional labor of discernment, and what happens when silence becomes the culture instead of the choice. From being performance reviewed out instead of given real feedback, to ghosting ourselves in order to belong, this episode examines how unaddressed truths shape our bodies, our leadership, and our relationships. They also ask what it looks like to speak with intention rather than fear. To choose silence when it protects us, and to speak when truth is required for healing and accountability. Because not everything sacred has to be said. But some things need air to breathe. Bird Building Collision Monitoring: Migratory Bird Conservation Guest Elaine Carlson, Volunteer, Chicago Bird Collision Monitoring Los Angeles, New York and Chicago are the biggest U.S. cities located along major migratory flyways, and the number of birds that die crashing into high-rise buildings is astonishing. These collisions are caused by the reflective and transparent qualities of glass windows that create optical illusions and extend the perceived landscape. Citizen science volunteers have been collecting data to inspire corrective action and inform city planning policy. There are simple solutions that can drastically reduce the likelihood of bird-window collisions. Elaine Carlson is a long-time Chicago resident, having moved to the Windy City after college to pursue a theater dream. Born and raised in the Appalachian foothills of southwestern Pennsylvania, she developed a strong appreciation for wildlife. This affinity for the natural world, combined with her work in education and her (maybe slightly over-developed) sense of team spirit, made her a perfect fit for a volunteer position with Chicago Bird Collision Monitors. For the past nine years - every spring and fall – she has spent her early morning hours walking the city streets and recovering migratory birds that collide with Chicago's downtown buildings. She has responded to hundreds of hotline calls from concerned citizens: running out of the door, net in hand, to scoop up stunned and injured birds from balconies, parking lots and city streets. Elaine has rescued well over 1,000 injured birds and documented over 1,500 fatalities. And, she has met many wonderful, like-minded people along the way. In this episode Elaine shares data, knowledge, and stories to help more people become informed. Why Understanding Your Attachment Style Isn't Enough After Infidelity with Bryan Power Attachment theory is everywhere right now — anxious, avoidant, fearful, secure — but after infidelity, simply understanding your attachment style doesn't stop the emotional whiplash. In this powerful episode, Lora Cheadle is joined by Bryan Power, a Certified Integrated Attachment Theory Coach, for an honest, grounded conversation about how attachment wounds actually show up after betrayal — and what it really takes to heal them. Together, they break down the four attachment styles, explore why betrayal hits attachment at its core, and walk through the six pillars of Integrated Attachment Theory — practical tools that move you from survival and confusion into clarity, safety, and secure connection. This episode goes beyond theory. You'll learn why insight alone doesn't regulate the nervous system, how subconscious wounds drive behavior, and what helps betrayed partners stop feeling “crazy” when triggers hit — without excusing betrayal or bypassing accountability. If you've ever thought, “I know what's happening — so why does it still hurt this much?” — this episode is for you. Top 3 Takeaways Knowing your attachment style doesn't equal healing You can name your pattern perfectly and still panic when your partner withdraws. Healing happens through felt safety, not logic alone. Betrayal exposes unhealed attachment wounds — in both partners Infidelity doesn't come from nowhere. It often reveals deep subconscious beliefs around safety, abandonment, worth, and betrayal that were never healed. Secure attachment is built — not born Through the six pillars of Integrated Attachment Theory — core wounds, needs, emotions, boundaries, communication, and behavior — couples can move toward safety, clarity, and conscious connection. Favorite Quote “Attachment wounds don't heal through understanding. They heal through safety — again and again — in real time.” About Bryan In 2024 Bryan Power and his wife would go from having a pretty good relationship to a complete relationship failure. That failure culminated with a restraining order his wife would put against him for her emotional safety. During that breakup time, Bryan would discover the Integrated Attachment Theory Program that would ultimately provide him with the insights and tools necessary to put their relationship back together. Now Bryan uses his inspirational story, personal insights and the integrated attachment theory program to teach others how to use their breakup the get the breakthroughs they have been looking for.  Resources & Links https://www.myrelationshipfail.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryanwpower/ https://www.youtube.com/@myrelationshipfail https://www.instagram.com/myrelationshipfail/ LOVE THE SHOW? Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #654 is an hour of improvised visionary acoustic music played by Mariam Massaro and Bob Sherwood of the Gaea Star Band with Mariam on vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, marimba, ukulele, and Native flute and Bob on piano and vocals, Recorded on a frigid, snowy afternoon in mid-January of 2026 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with the mysterious and evocative “Oh How Brightly The Light Of Crystalline Beauty Shines”, a gorgeously bittersweet waltz with a fine vocal from Mariam that leads into the rich, multidimensional “Amaryllis Blooming” a sparse yet powerful reel led by Mariam's chiming mandolin and Bob's tightly arranged piano accompaniment that sets the stage for a gorgeous flute sonata in its final movement. “Sharing In The Glory” becomes a powerful coda for the prior piece with a hypnotic piano motif and a lovely, shaded melody from Mariam. “Oh, I Want To Always Reflect What Is Right” is a sprightly blues rocker with rollicking acoustic guitar and bluesy piano supporting Mariam's wide-ranging vocal and Bob takes the microphone for a reflective, emotional take of his song “Mystery” featuring fine Native flute touches and harmonies from Mariam. Mariam takes up the dancing, adventure-evoking marimba part that always heralds her song “Vision Quest” from her eponymous album and the duo unwind a compelling, rhythmic, spacious take of this fine song. Mariam's classic folk-gospel rocker “Freedom” takes on a powerful, anthemic quality as Mariam delivers its powerful message in trying times and we complete today's show with “Oh, Rainbow Sweet Delight”, a gorgeous, relaxed ballad with sensitive acoustic guitar, decorative piano ostinatos and another fine vocal from Mariam.
