The Truth About Closure: Why We Want It, How to Get It & When to Walk Away “Know who you're dealing with before you seek closure. Can you be okay with every possible reaction? If not, don't set yourself up for more harm.” — Dr. Gary McClain “If I could just get closure…” How many times have you said those words after betrayal, breakup, or loss? In this powerful episode of FLAUNT!, Lora Cheadle sits down with Dr. Gary McClain—psychotherapist, relationship coach, and author of The Power of Closure: Why We Want It, How to Get It, and When to Walk Away. Together, they unravel the myths about closure, why we crave it, and the surprising ways it can either heal or harm us. From ghosting to infidelity, narcissistic partners to unspoken endings, you'll learn how to stop chasing the fairytale ending and start creating compassionate closure—whether or not the other person is willing to participate. This is the episode that will change the way you think about “the end” forever. Top 3 Takeaways Closure isn't always what you think it is. Sometimes it's not about a neat ending—it's about validating yourself, choosing compassion, and walking away whole. Intentions matter. Before seeking closure, ask yourself: Do I want understanding, forgiveness, to be “right,” or to hurt them back? Your intention determines your outcome. You don't always need them to heal. Even if the betrayer refuses contact (or is unavailable), you can find closure by processing your grief, reconnecting with yourself, and embracing life again. “Closure doesn't always come from them—it often comes from choosing yourself.” – Lora Cheadle Subscribe, rate, and review FLAUNT! to help others uncover the power of radical self-worth and post-betrayal joy Join Sanctuary of the Soul — Just $47/month Your safe haven for healing after betrayal. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #639 is an inspired hour of acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, harmonica, acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars, mandolin and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live in late September of 2025 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today's show begins with the deeply spiritual raga “Let's All Live As If We Know Who We Are”, a somber and darkly beautiful song led by Mariam's chiming 12-string Martin acoustic and Craig's fundamental heartbeat drum. “Flowing On Singing Your Songs” provides an enormous contrast to the first piece as a dancing, lighthearted folk song built around Mariam's skipping ukulele and Bob's blues piano and “It's Never Too Late To Gather” is a pretty, minor-keyed tone poem with a lovely vocal and affecting double flute from Mariam over imaginative piano and earthy Native drum. “Let's Make A Wish For Peaceful Joy” features Mariam's chiming mandolin and a fine, active vocal as well as Craig's skipping conga groove and “Surrender To Just Flowing Celebration” is a pretty folk ballad with a lovely foundation of Mariam's acoustic guitar, Craig's throbbing Native drum and Bob's relaxed, minimalist piano and we close today's show with two classic songs from Mariam, the driving, impassioned “Trust” and the wistful country rock ballad “I Was Wondering”. Social Media as a Lifeline: Insights from Shawn Teasley On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show with host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, with special guest Shawn Teasley. Little bit about Shawn's story from her: I work at the intersection of marketing and mental health awareness, and one area I'm especially passionate about is the fine line between social media and its impact on our well-being. Boundaries around how we use these platforms are critical, but social media is also one of the most powerful ways to get mental health resources into people's hands. With September being Suicide Awareness Month, I'm especially mindful of how awareness days like Suicide Prevention Day can spark education, support, and meaningful conversations. I believe we can use these platforms not just for connection, but as lifelines to normalize mental health discussions and ensure more people know they're not alone. Short bio: Shawn Teasley is a marketing and social media strategist passionate about digital marketing, storytelling, and social media. As the owner of Social Tonic, she consults, trains, and mentors teams, helping businesses streamline marketing through done-for-you services or in-house training. Dedicated to supporting startups and entrepreneurs, Shawn offers strategic guidance and creative solutions. Inspired by her father's entrepreneurial spirit, she loves helping brands establish their presence and grow with confidence. Her approach makes marketing strategic, sustainable, and low-stress, allowing business owners to focus on what they do best. Optimal Health, Unlimited Energy: Dr. Michelle Jorgensen “If you're treating symptoms, you're simply dealing with the warning lights your body's giving you. … Taking ibuprofen for a headache is disconnecting the fuse. The reason the headache didn't get addressed whatsoever. But the light's out. So then you just pull back on the road and you drive on feeling good about yourself, because there's no more light. But all you've done is disconnect the fuse. So, my philosophy is all about finding why the engine light's on to begin with.” Medicine is really all about knowing how your cells and body work and what to do proactively to keep them well. Instead of ignoring or covering up symptoms, you'll learn how to use those symptoms to identify the formulas your cells need to return to wellness. When you learn how one of your cells does all its magnificent work, and what it requires to stay well, fend off disease, rebuild, and return to health when needed, then you will know what it takes for your entire body to be well. The Constructed Self: Exploring the Concept of Invention in Human Identity We all know that smartphones, iPads, and computers are inventions, but generally, we don't tend to think of ourselves as inventions. If you meet somebody and they say, "Where are you from?" They're not asking, "Where were you manufactured?" Or they're not saying, "Where were you invented?" They're just, "Where were you born?" So we would not quite use that 'invention' word to describe our human personalities. However, if we delve even deeper, there is a workbook lesson in the Course where Jesus says, "I have invented the world I see." So he's using the invented word. All inventions are constructed. They're like products, but the mind has fallen asleep and forgotten that it believes in separation from God and forgot that it's dreaming. So it doesn't tend to think of itself as a construct. Jesus says, "You think of the body as an end instead of a means.” New events with David Hoffmeister and Living Miracles The Way of the Mystic – Weekend Revivals. Knowledge & Injury of Betrayal: How Truth Becomes Justice After Infidelity “The knowledge is what hurt me. The knowledge is also what saved me. Justice began when I chose truth and stopped betraying myself.” – Lora Cheadle What exactly was injured by betrayal—the body, the bank account, your heart, or your reality? In this powerful episode, Lora reframes the “injury” of infidelity and reveals why knowledge is both what hurts and what heals. Former attorney and betrayal recovery coach Lora Cheadle guides you through a rare lens on infidelity: damages and justice. Drawing on litigation concepts (compensation, wrongful death, restitution), she asks the unaskable: If you hadn't known, would you have been hurt? From STDs and financial losses to shattered expectations and gaslighting, Lora shows how the knowledge of betrayal creates the sharpest pain—and how that same knowledge becomes your path to truth, agency, and inner justice. You'll leave with precise journaling prompts, somatic supports, and a brave new definition of being “made whole.” Top 3 Takeaways Name the real injury: Beyond physical and financial harm, betrayal injures perception—your story of self, partner, and past. Knowledge is the wound that reveals the truth. Justice starts inside: Courts price damages in dollars; your healing prices them in truth, boundaries, self-respect, and choice. External amends help—but inner justice completes the repair. From martyr to sovereign: Stop abandoning yourself. Make and keep unbroken promises to you—sleep, nourishment, movement, time, money, voice—and take what you need to heal. Rich and deeply improvisatory, “Smile” is driven briskly by Mariam's energized vocal and chiming dulcimer while Rob provides color with his fiddle and Chris and Bob provide a compelling plagal cadence framework on acoustic guitar and piano. “Happy I Am” continues the “Smile” lineup, supporting Mariam's the lovely, simple lyric of this exemplary, beautiful song from Mariam. “The Ballad Of Belfast Bay” is a fantastic folk waltz from the Griffin brothers with Rob on lead vocals and fiddle and Chris on acoustic guitar and Rob harmonizing as only brothers can as Craig, Mariam and Bob provide musical support. Chris takes the lead on his original number “Way Out West With A.T. Doe”, a driving minor country rock song featuring epic fiddle work from Rob and fine contributions from the ensemble. Next up is Mariam's “Room Of Doubt”, a blues rock number that smolders with Mariam's fine vocal and powerful work from the ensemble, particularly from Rob who picks up his mandolin for the smoldering workout. “Room Of Doubt” opens into a gorgeous coda with Mariam conversing with her sweeping, evocative Native flute over affecting piano ostinatos from Bob that veer from classical to fatfinger blues and gorgeous violin runs from Rob Griffin. Chris Griffin steps back up to the mic with his beautiful, soulful “Set Her Free”, a fine 70s-soul-flavored ballad with sensitive, additive contributions from all, particularly Rob with his bittersweet violin lines. “Pele” is a powerful island song by Mariam that the band sets on fire to a degree that would impress its namesake with bottomless enthusiasm from the ensemble and “Gypsy” is another exemplary song from Mariam cast by the band as a moonlit Romani reel filled with soaring violin runs and incendiary piano. The song detonates into a powerful, driving coda as Mariam's vocal and then her eerie, midnight double flute overtones dance with Rob's violin above the racing, yet focused and emphatic ensemble. A highlight. Bob comes forward to close the show with his rock gospel number “Coming Home” delivering a powerful vocal over a hypnotic, minimalist ensemble sprinkled with compelling violin lines from Rob and affecting, lilting vocalisms and Native flute from Mariam. Understanding the Grayscale: Exploring This Spiritual Spectrum Tool In this thought-provoking episode of If It's Light, It's Right™, Cheryl introduces the “Whitescale Spectrum”—a visionary spiritual tool designed to help us understand the many shades of light we embody throughout our lifetime. This unique concept reflects the ebb and flow of our growth, choices, and spiritual awareness. The scale naturally shifts—from luminous white to deeper grays—and can move forward or backward depending on the lessons we embrace. It offers a compassionate mirror of how we navigate our soul's path and the ways we expand through both challenges and triumphs. With warmth and clarity, Cheryl reminds us that no spirit is perfect. We are all in motion, evolving across the spectrum as we learn, grow, and return to the truth of who we are. By exploring this perspective, we can approach ourselves—and our connections with others—with greater grace, empathy, and self-awareness. Through real-life soul stories and personal reflections, Cheryl invites you to gently consider where you might align on the spectrum today. Not as judgment, but as curiosity. Not as a label, but as light. “This isn't about labeling—it's about understanding the many shades of our journey and how they shape our experience.” If it's Light, it's Right™! The Brain Fitness Coach: Judy Hahn's Science of Stress Recovery On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show with host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, with special guest Judy Hahn. Little bit about Judy's story from her: My fascination with brain health and entrainment began over 37 years ago. Today, that passion is my primary focus. I now help individuals and practitioners support brain fitness, stress recovery, and nervous system regulation using non-invasive, science-based tools that spark real, measurable change. I work with two core technologies: ~ A brain fitness device that uses light and sound to gently guide the brain into optimal states for relaxation, focus, deep sleep, and emotional regulation. It supports neuroplasticity, cognitive performance, and long-term brain health. ~ NeuralChek, an HRV-based tool that measures the variation between heartbeats to assess the health of the body's regulatory systems. It provides real-time insight into stress load, recovery capacity, and overall adaptability — making it ideal for personalized wellness plans and tracking long-term progress. Together, these tools offer a comprehensive approach to brain-body balance, stress management, and nervous system optimization. What excites me most is how seamlessly they complement the work of chiropractors, integrative doctors, and other holistic practitioners, but so many individuals use the in-home device for anxiety, PTSD, ADD/ADHD, autism, concussion recovery, poor sleep, cognitive decline, addiction, and more. It's also widely used by peak performers seeking an edge in focus, clarity, and recovery. Short bio: Judy Hahn was trained as an Integrative Nutritional Health Coach and has spent 7 years as a Functional Wellness Coach, often addressing the gut-brain connection of her clients' conditions. She is known as The Brain Fitness Coach working with an innovative in-home brain health device that reduces stress & anxiety, and better sleep, mood & mental clarity. She is currently working with many medical professionals, chiropractors and mental health providers to be able to offer this device to a greater number of individuals and clinics. Science and Mysticism: Paul J. Mills, Ph.D. “What are the biomedical sciences and the scientists working in them doing in terms of helping or hindering this future goal of humanity? Are we in service to humanity's future advancement or not?” I was aware that the vast majority of the scientific endeavor is highly materialistic, with metaphysical and mystical considerations outright rejected as nonexistent; love itself is considered only an emotion and even then, not routinely studied. Yet, I also knew there were biomedical scientists, including some of my own colleagues, working within the mainstream sciences who have deeper spiritual understandings of who we are as people and of the conscious universe at large. I also knew that many of them were working in their own way to bridge the so-called “gap between science and spirituality.” They were working to overcome the materialism and its choking effects on the progress of the sciences that could ultimately help support a future spiritual life of humanity.” -Paul J. Mills, Ph. D. Order the Book >>> Science, Being, & Becoming: The Spiritual Lives of Scientists Paul J. Nervous System Regulation After Betrayal: Somatic Tools to Calm Panic, Stop Shutdown, and Reclaim Your Power “Sensations are the language of the nervous system. When you notice—and stay with—the feeling, the cycle completes and your system comes back to safety.” -- Laurie James When betrayal scrambles your nervous system, healing isn't just “mindset”—it's body-based. In this episode, we unpack somatic, practical ways to calm panic, prevent shutdown, and rebuild your capacity so you can make clear decisions and feel safe again. Betrayal shocks the body as much as the mind. Lora talks with somatic practitioner and coach Laurie James about nervous system regulation after infidelity—what “somatic” really means, how polyvagal states show up (ventral vagal, sympathetic, dorsal), and simple practices that help you come out of anxiety, numbness, or overwhelm. You'll learn how to complete the stress cycle, set body boundaries, and create five-minute rituals that expand your capacity without adding more to your plate. Whether you're staying, leaving, or still deciding, these tools help you feel safer now—so you can choose your next step from clarity, not crisis. Top 3 Takeaways Know your state to change your state. Learn the cues of ventral (present/connected), sympathetic (fight/flight), and dorsal (shutdown). Naming your state reduces shame and gives you a map back to safety. Small pockets > big pushes. Micro-practices (5 minutes to ground, orient, breathe, feel sensations) complete the stress cycle and build capacity—so you can handle life with more ease and fewer blowups. Somatic ≠ “just think positive.” 80% of information travels from body to brain; regulation starts in the body. Gentle, titrated work prevents re-traumatization and supports wiser decisions during hard conversations, mediation, or reconciliation. About Laurie James — Somatic Practitioner & Life Coach Laurie James is a mother, divorcée, recovering caregiver turned author, somatic relationship coach, and podcaster. Laurie's podcast, Confessions of a Freebird, was inspired by her youngest of four children leaving the nest and is the sequel to her book, Sandwiched: A Memoir of Holding On and Letting Go. Laurie's book is about her journey from loneliness to finding belonging during a time when she was raising four teenage daughters, her mother had a heart attack and needed care, all while her marriage began to crumble. Now Laurie helps women divorce, heal, and date differently in midlife. She blends her coaching and somatic training to help her clients develop a better relationship with their bodies and nervous system. Doing so allows them to find the inner freedom to experience more happiness, joy and create the life they desire. When she is not coaching clients or podcasting, she can be found nurturing her free spirit by walking her dog, skiing, sailing, hiking, spending time with close friends or planning her next adventure. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #637 is an hour of intrepid, visionary acoustic improv music played and sung by the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, double flutes, ukulele and Native flute, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live in early September of 2025, today begins with a live rendition of one of Mariam's finest songs, “This Is The Way”, taken at an energized pace and featuring a fine vocal from Mariam. “Farewell To Summer” is a gorgeous, extended piece with another striking vocal from Mariam and energized, inspired work from the ensemble and “Lunalya” is a gorgeous ballad about an interstellar unicorn that begins with a fanfare from Mariam's overtone-generating double flutes before developing into a beautiful ballad underpinned with earthy heartbeat drum from Craig. “Flower Of Life” is a stately piece with inspired gospel piano from Bob and a beautiful, evocative vocal and Native flute conversation from Mariam. “Gather Together”, another of Mariam's finest songs, is presented with a spacious, wide, operatic sound stage that creates an elegant space for Mariam's high, Apollonian poetry and “Ode To Mother Earth” is a sprawling, multi-movement that begins as a sparse, mandolin-based pop song and gradually develops into a mystical, raga-like mantra with a particularly powerful spiritual presence with grooving congas and imaginative piano backing Mariam's epic vocal poetry and Native flute passages. A Quantum Love Story - David at Namaste At a movie gathering at the Namaste Community in Ajijic, Mexico, David delves into the concept of consciousness, explaining that Jesus sees it as the domain of the ego rather than a reflection of pure spirit. He suggests that the separation from God gave rise to this consciousness, leading to fragmented perceptions of reality. Jesus' teachings emphasize that our perceptions are projections of our state of mind, meaning that changing our perspective is key to understanding our spiritual journey. It also shows that our five senses don't fully define our consciousness, as demonstrated by out-of-body experiences. Ultimately, David stresses that true healing and clarity come from changing our mindset rather than trying to change the external world. meaning that changing our perspective is key to understanding our spiritual journey. It also illustrates how our five senses do not fully define our consciousness, as evidenced by out-of-body experiences. Wedding Anniversary After Infidelity: How to Heal, Reframe & Reclaim the Day “An anniversary after betrayal doesn't have to be a day of despair — it can become a day of choice, truth, and self-reclamation.” – Lora Wondering what to do with your wedding anniversary after infidelity or betrayal? Whether you're still together, separated, or unsure, anniversaries can feel like emotional landmines. This episode gives you the clarity, options, and healing tools to reclaim the day as yours. In this powerful episode of FLAUNT!, betrayal recovery coach Lora Cheadle unpacks why anniversaries after an affair feel so painful (hint: broken expectations) and shares practical and soulful ways to face the date. From choosing to skip it, reframing it as your milestone, creating rituals of release, to transforming it with your partner, you'll discover how to honor your grief while reclaiming your agency. Lora weaves in real stories—including her own 30th anniversary, healing rituals like bridge crossings, and how she reframed the day with a heart-shaped diamond flamingo ring engraved with FLAUNT—to show you how an anniversary can become a moment of choice, truth, and self-celebration. Top 3 Takeaways: Why anniversaries hurt after betrayal: How ruptured expectations and old coping defaults trigger grief, anger, and overwhelm. Four healthy ways to navigate the day: Skip it, reframe it for yourself, transform it with ritual, or use it as a practical step toward reclaiming your life. Healing tools that work: Boundaries (“I'm not ready to celebrate” is a complete sentence), somatic practices, journaling, and rituals that help you transform despair into empowerment. Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #636 is a unique and compelling hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flute, dulcimer, mandolin, harmonica, kalimba, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. We are joined today by special guests David Morningstar on background vocals and acoustic guitar and on the last track Eve Cristoph on backing vocals. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in early September of 2025, today's show begins with the pretty, ancient-sounding “Dive Deep To Reach Your Soul's True Longing”, a skipping forest song with dancing dulcimer and mystical Native flute passages from Mariam and “Count Your Blessings, Keep Shining Bright” is a driving, blustery rock song with imaginative piano and an inspiring lyric from Mariam over Craig's driving congas. The Track enters an extended coda with Mariam playing her mysterious double flute, a unique instrument that creates audible overtones in a miasma of harmony. “All Life Is Sacred” is another acoustic rock number with a distant Andean flare and an affecting vocal from Mariam and “Living On The Holy Ground” is a bright, skipping, sunny folk song driven by Maram's chiming mandolin and evocative, distant droning vocals from Daniel over gospel piano and steady congas from Craig. “Breath Together” has a suspended blues flavor and begins with a conversation between Mariam's harmonica and her inspired poetry as it blooms into a powerful, spacious gospel song before segueing into a second movement, “Open The Windows To Receive”, a sparse but sophisticated tone poem set to the heartbeat thump of Craig's Native drum and bittersweet, iconic piano. For the final section “Keep On Dreaming We Can Change The World” with Daniel joining Mariam for the anthemic chorus. Eve Cristoph joins Mariam on vocals for today's beautiful closer, the ocean anthem “Yemanja” a mystical mermaid goddess song featuring exemplary work from the whole ensemble. Chaandani Khan: Resilience, Recovery, and Reforming Concussion Care On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show with host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt, with special guest Chaandani Khan. Little bit about Chaandani's story from her: A concussion brain injury completely derailed my life 6 years ago. I went from being an outgoing person who worked, had a busy social life, volunteered, had hobbies and was physically active -- to a person who could no longer remember how to make a sandwich, nor follow basic conversations with ease. On a personal note, I know the strength it takes to find acceptance while still in the fire, and what it takes internally to rebuild your life with intention. On a professional note, going through this experience allowed me to identify key gaps in service and systems that patients face, and the demand for a new path forward. I am now an educator for medical and allied healthcare concussion practitioners and am focused on leading systemic change in the delivery of concussion care. Short bio: Six years ago a brain injury derailed Chaandani's entire life, which left her navigating PPCS (persistent post-concussive symptoms) and an overwhelming amount of loss. Preparing a cup of tea, washing clothes and sending a single email became monumental challenges and her familiar, fast-paced lifestyle appeared impossibly far out of reach. Going through years of recovery appointments and eventually ingraining herself in the concussion space allowed her to identify key gaps in service and systems that patients face, and the demand for a new path forward. Chaandani is now an educator for medical and allied healthcare practitioners who serve the concussion and PPCS population. She brings a wealth of knowledge gained through experience plus research, and is focused on leading systemic change in the delivery of concussion care. Your Big Fat Juicy Life: Stephanie James There is no escaping death. I'm going to die and you're going to die. (But don't worry. Spoiler Alert: A part of you is going to go on forever and ever and ever.) If death is something that is such a universal experience—the eventual inevitability we all face, why is it so hard for us to talk about dying? We all know that at some point in this experience we call life, there is going to be a finish line, and we, as those before us, are going to one day cross it. This awareness can be something that drives you to do more and experience more with the limited time you have here on earth, or it can be experienced as anxiety and fear that your days are numbered and have you frantically trying to distract yourself from this reality. It can also be what leads you to dive more deeply into your spiritual life to find the meaning of it all.
