In Today's episode I have a returning guest, Dr Morse, who is sharing all his amazing tips about his wonderful herbs :) NOTE Time stamp - conversation about our cycles: 0:44 I wanted to clarify my comment about HA. Some practitioners see very little bleeding as lack of it; and try to fix this. this is what I meant. Amenorrhea is the absence of a cycle in a cycling woman (age ) who is not in menopause or has no other obvious issues! Often times Hypothalamic Amenorrhea is present in women who don't seemingly eat enough or work out too much , so we see this a lot in Women Athletes. Disclaimer: I am facing this at the moment too. Dr. Morse, a licensed naturopathic physician, biochemist, iridologist and a great herbalist, has a naturopathic practice and is the founder of the International School of Detoxification in the USA. For the past 50 years, Dr. Morse has developed a cell regenerating detoxification program that is suitable for anyone who wants to have a healthy and vital body. Due to the fact that people have systematically consumed the wrong food for years, the condition of our human cells has reached a dramatic low point. All our organs and glands, which are in constant cooperation with our lymph system (our waste system) and have a life-supporting function, have never been so low in their vitality, with all kinds of complaints as a result. The kidneys and adrenal glands play the central role in the deacidification of our body and all forms of inflammation. Acidification is caused, among other things, by wrong lifestyle habits and hereditary degeneration. In recent decades, people have been focused on “diseases” and “combating complaints”, so that we have completely forgotten how we can help ourselves in a natural way. Our health is a direct result of what we drink, eat, breathe in and what we put on our skin. By detoxifying your body you can regain the vitality and balance of your body. No matter what your age, health is one of your greatest assets while you're living your journey on this planet. For generations, man has been ignorant of his/her body's proper nutritional needs. It is not difficult to understand the proper foods man should be consuming, which is simply reflected in the physiological design of the human species. Once called omnivores by many, humans are actually frugivores. Man's diet should be predominantly fruits and vegetables, instead of dead animals, their milks, and dormant foods (grains & beans). Understanding this and what one must do to reverse this is vital in the preservation of our species and one's experience of True Health. There is so much misinformation, mainly because of big business, that man is confused and frustrated. Dr Morse's clinic has been dedicated to truth and using Regenerative Detoxification to assist humans and animals back to health for over 40 years now. Health becomes very simple when you understand how one loses it. Dr Morse has spent decades assisting thousands in restoring and regenerating the tissues of their physical bodies as well as connecting them with God again. True happiness is a combination of physical, emotional and mental balance with a broader understanding of who you, as an individual, really are. Please note that Dr. Morse is no longer seeing clients so he may focus on research, writing, and educating. Our other counselors were carefully chosen and trained by Dr. Morse for their knowledge, experience, passion and dedication to helping the suffering find true health. Olympian Cynthia Appiah joins Stephanie Mitton for an honest conversation about disappointment, resilience, reinvention and what happens when the thing you worked for does not go the way you hoped. After nearly walking away from bobsleigh following the 2018 Olympics, Cynthia chose a different path. She moved into the driver's seat, rebuilt her career as a pilot and went on to represent Canada on the Olympic stage. In this episode, Cynthia reflects on identity beyond achievement, navigating pressure, confronting racial bias in sport, rebuilding confidence and learning how to begin again on her own terms. She also shares the story behind her favourite motto: “Every storm eventually runs out of rain.” This episode covers: What life actually looks like after the Olympics How Cynthia rebuilt her career after almost quitting bobsleigh The difference between giving up and beginning again differently Leadership, trust and creating healthy team culture Why your support system matters during hard seasons The emotional impact of being overlooked despite strong results Why your identity cannot depend on one title, season or outcome Cynthia's story is about much more than elite sport. It is a reminder that setbacks can become turning points, that starting over does not mean starting from nothing and that resilience is often built one decision at a time. https://www.patreon.com/womendontdothat Instagram - http://www.instagram.com/womendontdothat/ TikTok- http://www.tiktok.com/@womendontdothat Blog- https://www.womendontdothat.com/blog Podcast- https://www.womendontdothat.com/podcast Newsletter- https://www.beaconnorthstrategies.com/contactwww.womendontdothat.com YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/@WOMENdontDOthat How to find Stephanie Mitton: Twitter/X- https://twitter.com/StephanieMitton LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephaniemitton/ beaconnorthstrategies.com TikTok- https://www.tiktok.com/@stephmitton Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/stephaniemitton/ Interested in sponsorship? To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Month, host Greg Glynn, founder & CEO of Pliable interviewed Christine Yu, an award-winning journalist and author of "Up to Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes." They discussed Christine's background in journalism and her passion for women's sports, which led her to write the book to address the gender gap in sports science research. Christine shared insights on the myths and misconceptions about women's athletic capabilities, the importance of proper nutrition and strength training for young female athletes, and the high rate of ACL injuries among female athletes. They also touched on the historical and societal factors that have contributed to the underrepresentation of women in sports science studies. Greg and Christine discussed actionable tips for young girls and parents to support bone health and prevent injuries. The episode concluded with information on where listeners can find Christine's book. Journey to Sports Science Advocacy Christine discussed her journey from a nonprofit background to becoming an award-winning journalist, highlighting her passion for writing and storytelling. She explained how her interest in sports evolved from personal experience and her realization of the gender data gap in sports science research, which inspired her to write a book on the topic. Christine shared surprising findings, such as historical women scientists' efforts to debunk myths about women's physical capabilities being dismissed, and emphasized the importance of addressing these misconceptions to support girls and women in sports. Nutrition for Female Adolescent Athletes Christine discussed the historical and ongoing gender-based limitations in sports, particularly for women, and emphasized the importance of proper nutrition for adolescent athletes to support bone health and overall development. She highlighted the need for regular meals and snacks, especially before and after practices, and recommended consulting a sports dietitian for personalized advice. Christine also stressed the significance of maintaining a healthy menstrual cycle as an indicator of hormonal balance and its long-term implications for bone health. Women's Sports Injury Prevention Strategies Christine and Greg discussed women's sports, focusing on injury prevention and body type considerations. Christine emphasized the importance of strength training and neuromuscular training for reducing ACL injury risk in female athletes, particularly during adolescence. She highlighted that while biological factors like pelvic width are often cited as risk factors, environmental and societal factors, such as lack of access to strength training, also play a significant role. Greg and Christine agreed on the need to empower young female athletes to take control of their injury prevention through accessible training programs. Hi there! Feel free to drop us a text if you enjoy the episode. In this episode of the New England Endurance Podcast, we sit down with Tim Mitchell, Technical Director of the legendary CCB Cycling Education Foundation. With roots dating back to 1960s England and an official U.S. presence since 1976, CCB is the longest-running elite cycling program in the country. But it's more than just race results—it's a movement centered on Education Through Athletics.Tim shares the deeply human story behind CCB's evolution—from its historic origins with and notable alumni (like Tim Johnson, Tyler Hamilton, and Curtis White), to its legendary manager Steve Pucci, to its groundbreaking under-23 women's program where every rider is required to pursue post-secondary education. We hear how CCB pivoted from elite men's racing to meet the glaring need in women's development pathways, and how the tragic loss of rider Chad Young galvanized the team's educational mission. From national titles to Pan-Am victories, from jump rope champions to former Olympians, this team's stories are anything but ordinary. We also dive into the current state of New England racing, the importance of community, and the joys of unplugging from data to rediscover the pure ride. Whether you're an aspiring racer, a longtime cycling fan, or just someone who believes in sports that build character, this conversation with Tim will leave you inspired.

The fear of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury, or ACL, hangs over all athletes. It is a season-ending injury, agonising, and with a long painful recovery. But why is it happening to so many female footballers? Research shows that ACL injuries are up to six times more likely to happen to female athletes than male. Former England International Footballer Lianne Sanderson, who suffered an ACL injury in 2016, explores the science behind this statistic and finds out about the solutions that are being put in place. From the UK charity initiative Power Up To Play, established by medical professionals to offer preventative support at grassroots level, to experts at Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center in Norway and the team at IDA Boots who are making female-specific soccer cleats, Lianne introduces a number of solutions and learns about the science of ACL injuries in female athletes.
In Episode 90 of Trail Society, we sit down with Leela Srinivasan, the CEO of Parity Now, a pioneering platform that aims to close the gender income and opportunity gap in professional sports. Parity, founded in 2020, works with over 1,000 women athletes across 80+ sports, from archery to weightlifting, empowering athletes through impactful brand partnerships. Leela, a runner, mother, and passionate advocate for women's sports, brings her unique perspective to the conversation, exploring how her platform is reshaping the future of women's athletics. Her leadership at Parity is focused on tackling the financial inequities faced by female athletes, with an emphasis on securing meaningful sponsorships and creating long-term opportunities for women in sports. A key highlight of this episode is the release of Parity's groundbreaking research, "Beyond the Game: Exposing The Economic Realities of Professional Women Athletes". The study sheds light on the harsh financial realities faced by many female athletes, with findings such as 50% reporting a negative or zero net income, and 74% working another job to make ends meet. Leela discusses the contrast between the booming investment in women's sports leagues, like the NWSL and WNBA, and the ongoing struggles for athletes themselves. Despite these challenges, the research also highlights the potential for growth in women's sports, with consumers increasingly backing brands that support female athletes. Leela's insights into the disparity between league success and individual athlete earnings offer a sobering look at the financial landscape, while also providing a call to action for brands and fans to invest in women's sports to create lasting change. Like many of you, I've spent the past couple of weeks glued to the tv watching the Paris Olympics and in constant awe of the talent and athleticism of the athletes. Gymnastics is always one of my favorite competitions to watch but this year I was also tuned in for the track and field events and basketball. There was just no shortage of excellence on display. And as often happens, feats of Black women being excellent are often met with racism and sexism. A few years ago, right after the Tokyo Olympics, we released a conversation with Dr. Leeja Carter, a feminist sport psychology practitioner and the CEO of Coalition for Food and Health Equity that feels just as timely today. During our conversation we discussed the ways that gendered racism shows up in sports, how the strong black woman trope impacts athletes, and how athletes are using platforms like social media to tell more of their story. This is the first year the Olympics have gender parity between men's and women's teams - but does it mean gender equity? ESPN writer Katie Barnes and Rose Eveleth, host of NPR's Tested, join Brittany to discuss the barriers that women athletes still face - from men-only categories to women-only sex testing. And later - in recent years, you may have noticed some new behemoths prowling the streets of America: giant trucks. The sheer size of them has sparked policy debates – many are so big that it's not possible to see a child crossing directly in front of them, and there's been a spike in pedestrian deaths. Brittany is joined by Angie Schmitt, author of Right of Way, to chat about why these big trucks are so popular and what they say about our cultural anxieties.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

The first Women's World Cup was in 1991, and the games were only 80 minutes, compared to the 90-minute games played by men. Part of the rationale was that women just weren't tough enough to play a full 90 minutes of soccer. This idea of women as the “weaker sex” is everywhere in early scientific studies of athletic performance. Sports science was mainly concerned with men's abilities. Even now, most participants in sports science research are men.Luckily things are changing, and more girls and women are playing sports than ever before. There's a little more research about women too, as well as those who fall outside the gender binary.SciFri producer Kathleen Davis talks with Christine Yu, a health and sports journalist and author of Up To Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes, about the gender data gap in sports science.Read an excerpt of Up to Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes at sciencefriday.com.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
