Kylie Fox Returns to East Coast DNA! The burgeoning New Brunswick-based singer-songwriter Kylie Fox is back on East Coast DNA to share her second studio full-length album, Sequoia. Supported by ArtsNB, Music New Brunswick, and the Canada Council for the Arts, Sequoia is an 11-track album developed with her band and six-time ECMA-winning producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Fortunate Ones, The Good Lovelies). Deeply rooted in folk-Canadiana, Sequoia also delves into folk-rock and jazz-pop fusion, embodying a sound Fox describes as “70s Sesame Street meets Sharon Van Etten.” The album reflects on themes of gratitude, women's roles, relationships, and the environment, with inspiration drawn from a news story about firefighters saving a Sequoia tree. Kylie shares, “It resonated with me how severely nature and time have been taken for granted.” In songs like the title track, she explores personal realizations about how we sometimes neglect the most important aspects of life—echoing the sentiment of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi. Sign up for Kylie Fox's newsletter at: kyliefox.com Join us on the podcast to hear Kylie discuss the stories behind Sequoia and her journey as a rising star in the Canadian folk scene!

Max Bujold stops for a coffee break with East Coast DNA at Music New Brunswick's Music Week #smnb chat about milestones that led to where he is today and his new single Heart Thief. “The song encapsulates that type of person who unapologetically goes after what they want and gets it nearly every time. Sometimes this character is seen as the bad guy, or we experience resentment and jealousy towards them, but we can also be a Heart Thief in our own ways and be damn proud of it, too,” says Bujold. Max Bujold is a East Coast Canadian singer/songwriter from Fall River, Nova Scotia, returned to his family roots in Restigouche County, New Brunswick. Max offers captivating lyrics and melodies, rich raspy vocals, and a fierce passion to perform original music. Often compared to singers like Tom Petty, Matt Mays, and Chris Stapleton, Max draws upon his rock, country and blues roots to write powerful songs from a place of honesty, integrity, and hope. He tells revealing yet motivating stories about the trials and tribulations one faces in the pursuit of their dream. Max brings his dreams to life on stage with a guitar in hand, and with his roof rattling rock band; Max Bujold & The Milestones. Together, they create a powerful force to be reckoned with. https://www.maxbujoldmusic.com/@MaxBujoldMusic Subscribe to East Coast DNA for more coverage of Eastern Canada's music + arts scene. Hey, y'all. I am Shay. This is thebuzzr podcast. On air indie, from my pad to yours over the airways. I chatted with band members Josh & Connor about their current music and the new album release WAITIN'. “The Hypochondriacs have resurrected from the traditional country crypt, to a fresh and raw take to the standard genre. Though profoundly influenced by early Rockabilly, a taste of 60's doo-wop & 70's folk-rock. The band has opened for Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real, Corb Lund & Trooper, The Reverend Horton Heat to name a few. Winner of the ``Emerging Artist of the Year", "Album of the Year", 'SOCAN Sound of the Year' & 'Country Artist of the Year' by Music New Brunswick in 2017. This powerhouse group is made up of Josh Bravener (guitar/lead vocals), Jamie Guitar (bass), Kelly Waterhouse (sax/vocals), Jeannine Gallant (trombone/vocals), Connor Fox (lead guitar), and Andrew DeMerchant (drums).” Tracks: 'HWY 2' (before show) & 'WAITIN'' during our chat. Thank you for tuning in. Cheers! Shay About the Band The Hypochondriacs have resurrected from the traditional country crypt, to a fresh and raw take to the standard genre. New full length album, Waitin' out NOW on all streaming platforms. "Waitin' shines, brightly. As a collection of songs, each of these nine tracks rely on the individual strength of the entire band to make them work. No one's just along for the ride here. The album is sequenced in such a way that its R&B depth, its Stax Records lover's appeal, and its embodiment of high performance Memphis soul confidently defines the first four of these nine songs. Bookended by two distinct odes to the groups' country origins, Highway #2 and Gospel are the type of character-driven story songs that command a strong attention to the narrative, while Alone and Friends reinforce the group's strength as a multi-musician force of nature. MIKE BIGGAR is an award-winning Country-Rock artist from Canada’s East Coast. His infectious melodies are married to lyrics of life, love, and loss. Powerful, punchy anthems with generous helpings of clever hooks and smart writing sit opposite intimate, tender ballads. Mike's soulful voice expresses a genuine vulnerability and draws listeners into his critically-acclaimed song writing. A veteran winner of both Music New Brunswick (2011) and East Coast Music Association (2012) awards, Mike was signed to Busted Flat Records in 2012 for national promotion and distribution of his latest album Feels Like Now. He was a national finalist in the 2013 CCMA FanFest Performance Contest and was recently named a 2013 semi-finalist in the prestigious, global International Songwriting Competition. Feels Like Now features a collection of original songs that fire on all artistic cylinders, including strong co-writes with Grammy-nominated, Canadian Country Music star and fellow New Brunswicker Chris Cummings, and B.C. Country Music Hall of Fame member and Nashville writer extraordinaire - the late Larry Wayne Clark. The first single Lucky Stars (Biggar/Cummings) features Chris in a guest duet vocal, and the song debuted in the top 100 on the Nielsen BDS Canadian Country radio charts ‘out of the box’, ahead of its commercial release. In 2012, Mike and Larry Wayne Clark’s soul-searching co-write Longing For Home was shortlisted with iconic CURB Records in Nashville to be recorded by country superstar Wynona Judd, further proving Mike Biggar’s capacity as a country music writer destined to be heard.
