What happens when one choice alters the course of your life? At 20 years old, Cheryl Wilder made a decision that led to a devastating accident and decades of shame, guilt, and self-questioning. For years, she carried the weight of what she now calls moral injury, unsure if she even deserved healing. In this candid conversation, Cheryl opens up about the accident, the long and layered path toward forgiveness, and how poetry and storytelling became her lifelines. How one night reshaped the way she saw herself and the world Why shame felt easier to carry than forgiveness The moments and practices that helped her reclaim her worth This episode is about accountability, healing, and the courage it takes to finally believe you are worth good things. Guest Bio Cheryl Wilder is an author, coach, and motivational speaker. She helps clients connect their personal lives with their skills and knowledge to create a professional presence aligned with their values. A natural mediator and believer in the journey as a destination, Cheryl has an instinct to understand people, anticipate their needs, and listen to unvoiced questions. She’s passionate about helping clients see purpose and connections in everyday occurrences. An advocate for the arts, Cheryl was the Burlington Writers Club president (2022–24) and is a co-chair of their Alamance County, NC Student Writing Contest. She’s co-leader of the For Alamance Arts & Culture Team, teaches writing workshops, and serves as a member-at-large for the North Carolina Poetry Society. As a poet, Cheryl could talk about line breaks all day. Other topics of proficiency are poetry and architecture, shame and forgiveness, the arts and community, and reinventing the self. In this episode of The Filmumentaries Podcast, I sit down with sibling filmmakers Claire and Anthony Bueno, the creative team behind Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters - a feature documentary more than a decade in the making, and the definitive oral history of one of the most beloved comedies of all time. The Buenos spent years interviewing dozens of cast and crew members from the original Ghostbusters, including Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and the late Harold Ramis. The result is an extraordinary behind-the-scenes portrait that captures both the technical wizardry and the creative spirit that defined the 1984 classic. Claire's new companion book, also titled Cleanin' Up the Town, builds upon the documentary by presenting full-length interviews, previously unseen material, and new reflections from the filmmakers and craftspeople who brought Ghostbusters to life. In our conversation, Claire and Anthony share what it took to get the project made -the years of persistence, the challenges of rights and access, and the rewards of telling such a beloved story from a fan's perspective. Whether you're a lifelong Ghostbusters enthusiast or simply interested in independent documentary filmmaking, this is a fascinating glimpse into the dedication required to bring such a massive project to life. This podcast is completely independent and made possible by listener support. In December 2022, the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) reached a settlement with the estate of Jeffrey Epstein and related entities. Under the deal, the estate agreed to pay $105 million in cash plus one-half of the proceeds from the sale of the island known as Little St. James (owned by Epstein) to the USVI. The settlement resolved civil claims brought by the USVI under its Criminally Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (CICO) and laws dealing with sex trafficking, child exploitation and fraud, tied to Epstein's operations in the territory. As part of the agreement the estate also agreed to pay $450,000 for environmental remediation of another Epstein-owned island, Great St. James, where Epstein's activities allegedly included the destruction of historic structures tied to enslaved workers. The terms specify that the proceeds from the settlement must be dedicated to a trust administered by the USVI for projects aiding victims of sexual abuse, human trafficking and supporting related services. The estate did not admit liability or wrongdoing in the settlement.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Some songs take the long way home. Jeff Middleton joins us to map that winding route—Jersey kid to Nashville lifer—through a Warner deal with The Dirt Drifters, a thousand-dollar RV that literally went up in flames, and the four-year journey of Drowns The Whiskey from a bus write to a multi-week No. 1 with Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert. It's a story of grit, timing, and how a better demo can change fate.We dig into the changing economics of songwriting—how streaming thinned the middle class that once survived on album cuts—and what it takes to keep going when the money and momentum don't line up. Jeff shares how co-writing became a learned craft, why he now “lets the room be the room,” and how switching from road mode to writer mode saved his best work. He also pulls back the curtain on American Knights, co-written with Austin Jenckes and Mike Walker, and the unusual path that gave the song multiple lives with Morgan Wallen and Lee Brice. Then there's AI. Jeff doesn't flinch from it—he uses Suno for fast, pitch-ready demos and even built Song Script AI to help writers with better prompts. But he's clear-eyed about the line: algorithms look backward; great songs reach forward. The job is still to move people, to write from the heart, and to make music that feels undeniably human. If you're an aspiring songwriter, you'll get field-tested advice, sharp reality checks, and a reminder that authenticity isn't a brand; it's the work.If this conversation hit a nerve, follow the show, share it with a friend who writes, and leave a quick review so more people can find these stories. Your support helps us keep bringing songwriters and their hard-won lessons to the mic.

#185 - Before longboards hit storefronts and GoPros hit helmets, Jack Smith and two friends pointed a 1969 Firebird toward the horizon and skated into history. Jack Smith talks about how a simple leapfrog relay turned a wild idea into the first recorded skateboard crossing of the United States—and how that journey shaped everything that came after. We trace the arc from clay “crumble” wheels to first‑gen urethane and on to the big trucks and 70mm wheels that made 1980s distance skating faster and safer. Jack breaks down the daily cadence—early pushes, midday pool stops, evening miles—and the small-town moments that still stick: a Minnesota marquee that read “Welcome skateboarders,” a West Virginia diner that wasn't sure what to make of three long‑haired kids, and strangers in Ohio who handed over house keys and dinner plates without hesitation. He tells the story that stays with him most: a rain delay at Yellowstone, a missed geyser, and a roadside rescue that, decades later, circled back through a single email to confirm a life saved. We also explore how purpose and technology reshaped the ride. Jack's 2003 crossing raised awareness for Lowe syndrome after the loss of his son; his 2018 electric skateboard traverse with his wife leading a camper van turned battery swaps into a moving pit crew. Along the way, he argues for the slower road—South Dakota's rolling Highway 212, atlas pages over pure GPS—and why the “real America” lives beyond freeway exits. Jack shares updates on his feature screenplay and novel, plans for a 50‑year retrace in an electric VW, and a shout‑out to the new generation of cross‑country pushers proving that momentum beats perfection.Hit play to learn how to design a relay that works, dial your long‑distance skate setup, and rethink what's possible when you stop waiting for perfect conditions. If this conversation moves you, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review to help more curious listeners find the road.  Despite an impressive chess résumé as one of the U.S.'s top women players, Tatev Abrahamyan has had moments when she questioned whether it was all worth it. After a prolonged slump, she not only considered giving up on ever earning the International Master title, but she nearly quit competitive chess altogether. Fortunately, Tatev persevered. Earlier this year, she unexpectedly finished second in the Woman's American Cup, and then in August, she delivered a standout result that earned her the International Master title at age 37 — more than 10 years after achieving her final required norm!  Remarkably, Tatev's performance was so strong that she also secured her first GM norm. Welcome, everyone, to tonight's episode. We're diving into A Simple Favor and its sequel Another Simple Favor — two stylish, twisty thrillers that sit at the intersection of dark comedy, mystery, and melodrama. But behind the glamour and plot turns lies an interesting story of studio strategy, financial risk, and evolving distribution models.Let's start with the original. A Simple Favor (2018) is directed by Paul Feig, from a screenplay by Jessica Sharzer, and stars Anna Kendrick as Stephanie and Blake Lively as Emily. The film is based on the 2017 novel by Darcey Bell. Its budget was modest — around 20 million dollars — and it went on to gross nearly 98 million worldwide. Critics generally responded well, with a Metacritic score in the high 60s and audiences giving it a CinemaScore of B+. Rotten Tomatoes praised it as “twisty, twisted, and above all simply fun.” Part of the allure is the tone: it plays like a “mommy noir” — elegant, sharp, with sharply drawn characters and unpredictable turns. It was a strong showing for a midtier studio film, and helped cement A Simple Favor as a cult favorite in the thriller and women-driven mystery niche.Fast forward to 2025, and we have Another Simple Favor. This sequel is not based on a book — unlike the original, it's an original screenplay by Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis. The production is a co-venture: Lionsgate still participates, but distribution shifted. Another Simple Favor was released on Amazon Prime Video rather than in theaters, with Amazon MGM handling distribution. Filming took place in 2024, in locations like Capri and the Villa Adriana in Italy. Critically, the sequel has earned mixed reviews. Some praise Lively's magnetic presence, gorgeous costumes, and the ambition of the story's escalation. But others argue it feels overstuffed, that pacing sags in parts, and that it lacks some of the tightness or novelty of the first film. One reviewer summed it up: “It works better when its characters are just allowed to be marvelous instead of mysterious.” It also premiered at SXSW in March 2025 before its streaming release on May 1. The fact that its home is Prime Video, rather than a theatrical run, signals some of the shifting business realities behind studio films — especially for sequels that may carry higher risk. These two films provide an ideal case study in how creative ambition, risk, and studio strategy collide. The first film was a midbudget gamble that paid off. The second gives us lessons in modern distribution, content partnerships, and the pressures on midsize studios to share risk or cede control with streaming giants.Tonight, we're going to compare the narratives, the characters, the successes and stumbles — but also look behind the curtain: how studios like Lionsgate are navigating a volatile business environment, why a sequel would skip theaters, and whether the shift in approach gives Another Simple Favor an edge or a handicap. So grab your martini, or mocktail — let's get into A Simple Favor and Another Simple Favor.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

We're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Pearl Jam's memorable run from coast to coast in Canada. This was the first instance where they decided to travel the entire length of the country hitting up 15 different locations from small towns like Kitchener and Thunder Bay, to big cities like Vancouver and Toronto. Eight provinces were represented, including Nova Scotia which saw it's one and only Pearl Jam show in Halifax.. You can tell that the band truly appreciated getting to travel throughout the country and wanted to leave an impact on some of the smaller places in which they'd never return to. From trying a Keith's to playing through some of their rarities, Halifax is one of the tour's most prominent stops, and we'll cover it in this episode. As much as it's the Canadian tour, this run also feels somewhat like the unofficial Lost Dogs tour as well. The b-side album was released in late 2003 and the songs had become popular by the time 2005 came along. Outside of other eras in which these songs may have been played, this was one of the first opportunities that the band had to showcase them in front of a crowd, and this show features two big ones. Eddie came out in the pre-set to perform Driftin', and Hard To Imagine was used as an opener for the first time at a show. This would invite the song into the pantheon of popular openers along the likes of Release, Sometimes, Long Road and others, and it truly elevated the song to a level in which we hadn't seen of it live to that point. The rest of this set is full of more rarities and messes with the standard setlist structure by utilizing songs in spots they aren't usually played. Secrets in the family have a way of festering, and in Alex Winter's new thriller “Adulthood,” that rot takes the form of a literal body. The film thrusts estranged siblings Megan and Noah, played by Kaya Scodelario and Josh Gad, into a spiral where responsibility can no longer be avoided, and every choice risks compounding into catastrophe. The film arrives on digital on demand platforms on September 23; it is a chaotic blend of dark comedy and moral unease, where adulthood itself feels like the cruelest trap of all.Director Alex Winter, still beloved for cult staples like “Bill & Ted” and “The Lost Boys,” proves here that his filmmaking instincts are as sharp as his screen presence ever was. He keeps the story teetering between farce and tragedy, never letting the characters or the audience escape the consequences of a bad decision. Surrounding Scodelario and Gad are Billie Lourd, Anthony Carrigan, and Winter himself, rounding out an ensemble built to bounce between biting humor and raw tension. On this episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo talks with the stars of the film, Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario, about building sibling chemistry, working with Winter as he evolves from cult icon to confident filmmaker, and unpacking the movie's central metaphor. Gad also shares updates on his upcoming Chris Farley biopic starring Paul Walter Hauser and the long-gestating “Spaceballs 2,” while Scodelario clears up speculation about a potential return in “Crawl 2.”

The podcasting duo talk with the lone scholarship returner from last season as Terrance Williams II joins the show to talk about his road to recovery from a broken scaphoid -- a small boat-shaped bone located in the wrist -- suffered last year during a game at Oregon. Williams discusses the trials and tribulations he endured during his rehab for an injury he initially thought would only require a short recovery and allow him to get back on the court by the end of the 2024-25 season. Williams talks about his relationship with Musselman and how it led to him returning to USC despite the rest of the roster departing. He also discusses his role as a leader this season and what the 6-foot-7 wing has seen from this year's roster as he's slowly worked his way back onto the court, though he's still yet to be 100 percent cleared for full contact. After a break, Shotgun and Connor discuss what they've seen from a couple of recent practices since the Trojans have returned for training camp in the lead up to the 2025-26 season. They look at how the roster has developed since first being assembled and debate what the starting lineup could look like.
