We recorded this episode in December and wanted to save it for our first show of 2024. Diane and I want to thank all our listeners for taking to time to check out our podcast. This journey has been a wonderful one that we like sharing with you. Tonight's guest is Amber Hachey from Quispamsis / Saint John, NB. Amber loves outdoor adventures and was very competitive at a young age through high school. Hiking with her dogs was a favorite pastime of Ambers. In 2019 Amber purchased her first pair of trail running shoes and off she went. Amber joined the Saint John Trail Runners and started running several races. Completing five big trail runs this year and her very first 110km race, fantastic. She was one of the many volunteers at the first-ever Loonie Loops, working behind the scenes. This is where I met Amber and knew we needed her on our show and we are so glad she said yes. Amber talks about what it was like and the nasty weather conditions Amber, Marc McColgan and everyone else went through. It was one heck of an event and hearing from Amber what the 24-hour event was like was gold. I hope you enjoy our first show back in 2024, I know we enjoyed speaking with Amber a great deal.Motivate to Move email, let us know who should be on the show:motivatetomove.podcast@gmail.comOur Facebook page, check us out:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100041607699495As always, please give the gift of life and donate blood today.

J., Schlichting, M., Gaetani, R., Mallick, M., Hachey, S. J., Christman, K., George, S. C., Hughes, C. C., Sander, M. Abstract: Blood vessels play a critical role in pancreatic islet health and function, yet current culture methods to generate islet organoids from human pluripotent stem cells (SC-islets) lack a vascular component. Here, we engineered 3D vascularized SC-islet organoids by assembling SC-islet cells, human primary endothelial cells (ECs) and fibroblasts both in a non-perfused model and a microfluidic device with perfused vessels. Vasculature improved stimulus-dependent Ca2+ influx into SC-{beta}-cells, a hallmark of {beta}-cell function that is blunted in non-vascularized SC-islets. We show that an islet-like basement membrane is formed by vasculature and contributes to the functional improvement of SC-{beta}-cells. Furthermore, cell-cell communication networks based on scRNA-seq data predicted BMP2/4-BMPR2 signaling from ECs to SC-{beta}-cells. Correspondingly, BMP4 augmented the SC-{beta}-cell Ca2+ response and insulin secretion. These vascularized SC-islet models will enable further studies of crosstalk between {beta}-cells and ECs and can serve as in vivo-mimicking platforms for disease modeling and therapeutic testing. There is something magical brewing in the state of Colorado, and much of it has to do with the emergence of the Magic Beans. We've featured their music before, but with the release of their latest record Unzipped, I'd like to suggest that this band has organically determined a fresh way to make music, that unbelievably isn't that fresh at all. For Unzipped the band shed much of what they've done in the past to create music, and instead opted for a very lo-fi, analog approach. The results of those efforts are 10 wonderfully eclectic instrumentals that stay true to the Magic Beans sound while offering up more, by doing less. I caught up with frontman and guitarist Scott Hachey to discuss Unzipped, the band's fourth studio album and much more. First song: Stank Eye Second song: 90s Kid See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Welcome to Roadcase!! We are uber-psyched to have Scott Hachey of the Magic Beans on the show. Scott is a total gem of a human, with an easy smile and a super positive attitude. Having been grinding it out on the road with the Beans for the better part of a decade, Scott is a seasoned veteran of the Road, but no amount of mileage can diminish Scott's zest for life and love of what he does best: melting faces with the Beans special brand of jam-inspired grooviness. Magic Beans also have a new album coming out on July 6, entitled Unzipped -- a collection of instrumental tunes sure to become your favorite summer vibe. Scott started out by jamming with his buddies in the jam-band nexus of CU Boulder, and from there, just kept the ball rolling, touring endlessly to turn fans on and create joy. It's an inspiring story of positivity and overcoming adversity with persistence and determination that you won't want to miss. So grab a handful of beans and jump on the Roadcase bus to learn more about our favorite road warrior, Scott Hachey. My Future Business Interview with DENIS HACHEY #author #mindset #denishachey Hi, and welcome to the show! On today's My Future Business Show I have the pleasure of spending time with #1 bestselling author and experienced entrepreneur Denis Hachey. Denis is married with two children and lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He has twenty years' experience in business, which includes co-ownership of a successful multi-million-dollar venture. Denis' experiences in the business world have inspired him to share what he has learned and offer insight into how to change wishing and dreaming into a plan of action to make your dreams reality. After studying more than 50,000 hours of material, and running his own successful business, Denis concluded that that answer to life's most difficult problems are actually simple. The issue, Denis says, is finding the simple answer instead of over complicating it. Denis has taken his work and written his bestselling book ‘Mind to Mind Conversation' to help readers work through their problems systematically and to simplify problem solving the process. During the call, Denis shares insights into the power of having the correct mindset to fast track you to the life you want and deserve, instead of living a life filled with problems and struggle. This book is based on achievable goals and the answers start with your mindset. It's a practical guide that helps you build a foundation to close the gap between where you are and where you want to go. Then, Jessica describes the losses of loved ones she's walked through and how documenting has shifted through those losses starting from the inside out & more! Enjoy the story. For many people who grow up in small towns, it is almost a race to try to get out and move to a big city. For Amanda, her experiences abroad gave her insight into the tremendous potential that New Brunswick had to offer. She is the Director at NouLAB and in this episode, we discuss her audacious goal to redefine New Brunswick. She is working to disrupt the way decisions are made. She is working to help people see problems form many different perspectives. Quoting Peter Senge, she remind us that we have a tendency to see the system from our perspective. Much of her work is about helping people look at problems form a different perspective. She is working to help a city rethink how the solve problems. As a way of helping people rethink their perspective two powerful questions emerged. •What is the work that you trying to do? •What is the work you are doing?Perhaps my favorite thing about this episode is Amanda’s favorite word Lagom. Lagom is the Swedish word for “just the right amount.” We did not talk about it much in the show, but it is such a powerful concept. Another powerful concept in this episode was Amanda’s favorite quote was by Anne Frank. “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”In reflecting on this Anne Frank’s quote, we are reminded that there are no magic bullets and that this work is about learning together.

Pinegate Road Podcast: Stories & Strategies for Building Your Creative Business
Do you want to live a creative life while working a corporate job? Autumn Hachey does content marketing for Leon’s Furniture and she got to where she is without a degree or much experience. Her story is proof that if you have a big dream, then tenacity, creativity, and hard work will help you get there. She has great advice for turning your corporate job into your dream job and creating compelling content marketing for your business.
The New Economy Introducing Amanda Hachey If 20th century capitalism was characterized as corporations maximizing shareholder value, a lot has changed with the beginning of the 21st century. Early adopters are changing how business is now being done in the new economy. Millennial entrepreneurs are looking to make real impact in the world AND make a tidy profit at the same time. Amanda Hachey has been on the cutting edge in this shift in attitude. While at school at the University of New Brunswick-Saint John, Amanda got to notice a paradox between some of her business courses and her political science classes. In the business courses, all she would hear about is maximizing profit. In the building next door, her poli sci classes were taking about how 20th century capitalism was ruining the planet. What she couldn't understand was why these two groups working so closely by each other couldn't communicate to find a better answer. Amanda now works as a Sustainability Sherpa for Conscious Brands and her job is to help companies navigate from the “base camp” at which they currently stand to a higher elevation which benefits the community, employees, stakeholders, and the environment. Amanda has worked and lived across the world, but after her travels she realized the place that really needed help was at home. In her two years of working in New Brunswick, she was a vital part of taking the province from having zero B Corp companies to eight. She and Conscious Brands still have a ways to go though; their mission statement is to help 1,000 brands transition to the new economy by the year 2020. In this episode Amanda gives us some background as to why she is so passionate about the new economy. She tells us about her initial frustration during the initiation of the movement and how things have changed. She tells us about some companies that are taking the plunge toward sustainability including Wal-Mart. Amanda comments on how she convinces companies that are on the fence to make the right move. We hear how making the “right” move can help your business with bottom-line savings, employee engagement, and better owner appreciation. Amanda also defines the difference between a Sherpa and a Consultant. Dave notices how Amanda drips with passion and practicality and how she can properly promote her passion. Greg is reminded again that you can work within a creative and purpose driven company. Dave also notices how Greg is great at making people feel like they missed the biggest, greatest party.
