Bukhenik reads aloud the complete series of text messages exchanged between Karen Read and ATF agent Brian Higgins during January 2022. These messages reveal a flirtatious relationship, including discussions of mutual attraction, a shared kiss, and invitations to meet. The defense introduces these texts to suggest a possible motive rooted in jealousy, proposing that Higgins may have had a confrontation with John O'Keefe, Read's boyfriend, leading to O'Keefe's death. Yuri Bukhenik is back on the stand with Cross Examination and Defense Attorney Alan Jackson keeps cornering him about Proctor's true involvements. At one point he says that he gave evidence bag to someone but didn't know who. A significant portion of the day involved reading text messages between Brian Higgins and Karen Read into evidence. These texts were described as potentially "flirtatious" and revealed details about Karen's relationship with John O'Keefe, her feelings about children, and the presence of ring cameras at O'Keefe's house. The defense aimed to highlight these texts to suggest the investigation should have looked more closely at Higgins. Trooper Bukhenik was assigned to find the location of the Albert's dog, Chole, who was shortly rehomed after John O'Keefe's death. Chloe is supposed now named Cora but we are not sure if that is the same dog because they were rehomed twice after the Albert's. There were not transfer records, rehoming records, purchase records and the validity of the veterinary records are questioned because the dog's name and current owner were not on the document.Alan Jackson asked if he was aware that there were more than 20 official police reports were not recorded for more than 100 days from the time of the event in question? There were 11 reports that were more than 300 days from the time of the event? Three reports were more than 400 days from the time of the event? Four reports were more than 500 days from the time of the event? The longest delay of any report in this investigation was 581 days? Bukhenik acknowledged that he was not aware of the exact dates and delays. He tried to explain that in a perfect world, reports would be written as events happen but implied there were reasons for the delays. It was revealed during the cross-examination of Sergeant Yuri Bukhenik that there were significant delays in interviewing witnesses from Ricky D'Antuono's truck. While Ryan Nagle, who was also in the truck, was interviewed in February 2022, Ricky D'Antuono, who drove the truck, were not interviewed until September 2023. This is approximately a year and a half later! The defense appears to be anticipating that the Commonwealth will not call certain witnesses (Brian Albert, Brian Higgins, Ricky D'Antuono, and potentially Trooper Proctor), and they are trying to introduce their desired information through Sergeant Bukhenik's testimony. Cross Examination continues on Monday.RESOURCESWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKUeCUzApgsEuQRXu5IXeTSThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy

Yuri Bukhenik was the only witness to take the stand as he walked in with bins of evidence. There was confusion regarding John O'Keefe's sneakers being initially misidentified a being the one from from 34 Fairview versus from the hospital. Special Prosecutor Hank Brennan and Bukhenik talked briefly in the beginning about Proctor, calling him Mr. Proctor instead of Trooper Proctor but we know Defense Attorney Alan Jackson will call him Former Trooper Proctor. Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik explained that there was an investigation against him due to failure to properly Supervise Michael Proctor. His punishment was that he lost 5 vacation days. He continues to work in homicide and has not been demoted from Sargent. When Bukhenik read the text message thread from Proctor, which contained horrible messages that he said he acknowledged with a thumbs up emoji, we can only image what was going through the jurors minds.Bukhenik presented a video timeline of Karen Read drinking at CF McCarthy's and The Waterfall before we got to Cross Examination!Sgt. Bukhenik refused to call Proctor the Lead Investigator of this case and said he was only a "Case Agent' and/or "Case Officer." He was questioned about the integrity of the investigation and whether Michael Proctor's involvement tainted it, to which he responded that the investigation was done with honor and integrity. When asked if Proctor handled the case with honor and integrity, Bukhenik relented and only said yes with integrity. Access to evidence, specifically John O'Keefe's clothing, was discussed, noting that "anyone with a key card" had access to the room where it was stored for six days. The timing and documentation of evidence collection, particularly clothing and items from 34 Fairview, were questioned. It was noted that reports about the searches weren't written until November 4th, 2023, despite the events happening in February 2022!RESOURCESWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKUeCUzApgsEuQRXu5IXeTSThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy

Trooper Exposes Evidence Problems: Connor Keefe Testifies in Karen Read Trial In a critical moment for the prosecution, Massachusetts State Police Trooper Connor Keefe took the stand in the Karen Read murder trial to discuss his role in processing the crime scene where Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe was found. His testimony focused on the physical evidence collected outside 34 Fairview Road—including the notorious broken taillight pieces and a single white sneaker—which the prosecution argues connects directly to Read's SUV. But Keefe's testimony quickly veered into controversial territory when he described discovering an extra taillight fragment in a sealed evidence bag that originally contained just two pieces. This unexpected “third piece” raised serious questions about chain of custody and whether the evidence was mishandled or possibly contaminated. While Keefe insisted he followed protocol, the defense seized on the inconsistency, suggesting it pointed to broader problems in the investigation. For supporters of Karen Read, this moment may fuel suspicions of a cover-up or sloppy police work. For the prosecution, Keefe's straightforward demeanor and consistent testimony were aimed at reinforcing the narrative that Read backed into O'Keefe with her vehicle—hard evidence in the form of shattered plastic and blood trails. Trooper Keefe's testimony ultimately illustrated the tightrope prosecutors are walking: presenting damning physical evidence while defending the integrity of a deeply scrutinized investigation. If jurors believe the evidence was compromised or altered—even unintentionally—it could cast doubt on the entire case. This video dives into what Keefe said, what it means, and why this day in court could sway the trial's final outcome. On Day 12 of Karen Read's murder retrial, Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Yuriy Bukhenik, the supervising investigator in the case, took the stand. He recounted arriving at Canton police headquarters approximately three hours after John O'Keefe's body was discovered, where he and former Trooper Michael Proctor were shown evidence collected at the scene, including a broken cocktail glass, O'Keefe's cellphone, and blood samples stored in Solo cups within a Stop & Shop bag. Bukhenik testified that upon learning O'Keefe was missing a shoe, he theorized that O'Keefe had been struck by a vehicle, a hypothesis he later demonstrated to the jury by presenting the missing shoe and the shirt O'Keefe was wearing at the time of his deathDuring cross-examination, defense attorney Alan Jackson scrutinized Bukhenik's oversight of the investigation, particularly focusing on his supervision of Proctor, who was later dismissed for sending inappropriate texts about Read. Jackson questioned Bukhenik about potential conflicts of interest, including the involvement of Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz, who had recused his department from the investigation due to familial ties to individuals connected to the case. Bukhenik defended the integrity of the investigation, asserting that it was conducted professionally and without bias, despite acknowledging that all individuals possess inherent biasesto contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Key investigator in Karen Read case questioned about cocktail glass theory | Fox News

Guarino detailed how Read made 53 calls and left multiple voicemails to her boyfriend, John O'Keefe, between 12:33 a.m. and 6:03 a.m. on January 29, 2022. These messages, some containing expletives and accusations of infidelity, painted a picture of a tumultuous relationship and potential motive. Ever felt so overwhelmed that you knew you weren't fully present, but didn't know how to ask for help in the moment? That happened to me during an emotional week when my dog Trooper got seriously ill and in the middle of a conversation with the vet, I realized I just couldn't take it all in alone. On today's Wise Walk we're talking about knowing when to pause, when to call in support, and how to give ourselves permission to not have all the answers. We'll explore what it means to honor your limitations, why asking for help isn't a weakness, and how having a trusted sounding board can help you make better choices, especially in high-stakes or emotional moments. Let's slow down and get real about the power of phoning a friend, tuning into your energy, and creating space for clarity. Because sometimes the strongest thing you can do is ask for support and trust that you're still the one in the driver's seat. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you knew you needed help, whether because you were low on energy or out of your depth? Is there someone in your life who knows you well enough to support you, ask the right questions, and help you navigate your options? What are different choices you can make for yourself in order to create the space you need? Are you willing to ask someone to pause mid-sentence and let them know you're managing something and need a moment? Can you pull someone else into the conversation? Can you phone a friend? Can you have someone else join the meeting? Can you reschedule for a time when you've had more rest and can fully listen? If this idea turns you off, do you know why? Is there something about asking for help that creates a roadblock for you? Is there a situation in your life where you can relate to this and would consider calling someone next time? Can you look at opportunities in your life to ask for help or let a friend know you might call during an appointment? Can you also offer yourself as a phone-a-friend to someone else? Can you flip the script and say who you're available to support? Where in your life are you stuck? Are you afraid to make a decision because you don't want to make the wrong one? Can you give yourself permission to make a wrong decision and trust you can make another? Can you say, here is what I learned, and use that experience to guide your next step? As you continue gathering good information and support, will you give yourself the freedom to keep making choices? Will you allow yourself the space to make as many decisions as needed until you feel aligned, resolved, or fulfilled? I hope you're feeling energized and uplifted as you move through your day. I'm so grateful we had this time to go on a wise walk together, and I'm already looking forward to connecting again next Thursday.   In this episode: [02:39] I had a very difficult week last week. There were things that I wanted to be there for, but that doesn't mean they don't take a toll. [03:28] On top of feeling emotionally low, my dog Trooper got really sick. [05:12] When the vet was explaining all of the options, I knew I needed to phone a friend, because I needed someone to listen to this conversation in partnership with me. [06:45] My Aunt helped me process and make decisions.  [07:39] I love that I was self-aware enough in that moment to realize my own limitations. [09:25] How many times do you feel overwhelmed and realize there's an opportunity to pause and get help? [11:45] The other opportunity where I employ this concept is when I'm going to doctor's appointments that I can get overwhelmed with. [12:38] Bringing different perspectives into a meeting together can give you really beautiful outputs. [15:06] I'm going to continue to look for opportunities to ask for help where I need it and invite others into the conversation. [16:44] When evaluating who you can reach out to when phoning a friend, make sure they have your best interest at heart. [18:17] I'm going to continue to make decisions that benefit me, Trooper, and our family. [19:54] Are you continually checking in with yourself and making sure that you're at your optimal state for making decisions? [20:24] Do you need to call and support if you're not in your optimal state for making decisions?   Memorable Quotes: “I love that I was self-aware enough in that moment to realize my own limitations.” - Mary Tess “Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is ask for support and trust that you're still the one in the driver's seat” - Mary Tess “There are no final decisions. I'm going to make another decision.” - Mary Tess   Links and Resources: Mary Tess Rooney Email Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter | Instagram Heart Value

Trooper Michael Proctor has been fired by the Massachusetts State Police due to actions in the Karen Read investigation. While this is a workplace termination, not criminal charges, Proctor was found guilty of unsatisfactory performance and alcoholic beverages.Superintendent Noble stated this was due to maintaining public trust and accountability. Proctor has the right to appeal. This firing is significant because it happened before the trial, allowing the defense to question him about it and potentially challenge his credibility. The prosecution may also have to address the firing. The termination closes the internal affairs investigation, likely opening the door for this to be discussed during the trial and impacting how the jury views Proctor's testimony and the investigation's integrity. The prosecution's strategy in light of this firing is uncertain, but they may try to distance themselves from Proctor.Watch the full coverage: https://youtube.com/live/bM1RWJBiN-wThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy
