While the beer hits many stylistic markers, excess sweetness and slightly muted bitterness hold it back in competition terms, resulting in a final score of 34 out of 50 (Very Good). As with many episodes, Matt emphasizes the distinction between judging to style and drinking for enjoyment. Despite the lower-than-expected score, he makes it clear that Trooper remains a beer he will gladly continue to drink whenever it's available. The episode then delivers a collection of savage one-star reviews, ranging from stale malt complaints to over-the-top Iron Maiden insults, providing some much-needed levity.

On December 27th 2010, Georgia State Trooper First Class Chadwick LeCroy pulled over a car with a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. It should have been routine. Instead, it became the first fatal shooting of a Georgia trooper in thirty-five years.The man behind the wheel was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests stretching back to 1998. He'd been convicted of drug charges, weapons violations, forgery, and obstruction. He was on active probation in Cobb County. And he should have been in prison. This episode digs into everything that went wrong before that night. The rocket docket system that fast-tracked felonies and handed out lenient sentences to clear overcrowded jails. The July hearing where a prosecutor asked for four years and a judge gave sixty days. This one is personal because I knew and worked alongside Trooper Chadwick LeCroy when I was an Atlanta Police Officer. Chad and I served together in Zone 2, and later I had the privilege of working with him when he joined the elite Georgia State Patrol Nighthawks DUI Task Force. He was one of the good ones – the kind of officer you wanted backing you up, the kind of man who made the badge mean something. On December 27th, 2010, Chad was murdered during what should have been a routine traffic stop. He pulled over a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. The driver was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests and ten felony convictions. Favors fled, crashed his car, and when Chad approached on foot – without drawing his weapon – Favors fired three shots through the passenger window. One bullet struck Chad in the neck. He died in the ambulance on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital. But here's what makes this case so infuriating: Gregory Favors should have been locked up. He'd been arrested just seventeen days earlier and was out on a nineteen-thousand-dollar bond despite pretrial services recommending he be held without bail. Three times in 2010, the system said he was too dangerous to release. Three times, judges ignored those recommendations. On the morning Chad was killed, Favors missed his court hearing. He should have been in jail, but instead he was free to murder a good man. The investigation was swift – dashboard camera footage captured everything. Favors stole Chad's patrol car, dumped it on Gun Club Road, and was arrested by Atlanta PD officers. After nearly four years of legal proceedings, he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received life without parole plus fifty-five years.Chad LeCroy was the first Georgia State Trooper killed by gunfire in thirty-five years. He left behind his wife Keisha, sons Bret and Chase, and a law enforcement family that still feels his loss. A bridge over the Chattahoochee River now bears his name, and a scholarship in his memory helps new troopers get their education.This is the story of how system failures cost a hero his life, and why there really are no such things as "routine" traffic stops.In memory of Trooper First Class Chadwick Thomas LeCroy, Badge #744. End of watch: December 27, 2010.

Jose Colon, one of the men convicted of killing Massachusetts State Trooper George Hanna back in 1983 is up for parole. Colon was 20 years old at the time of the murder and now qualifies for a parole hearing under the state’s new law that gives juveniles between the ages of 18-20 a second chance. Gov. Jose Colon, one of the men convicted of killing Massachusetts State Trooper George Hanna back in 1983 is up for parole. Colon was 20 years old at the time of the murder and now qualifies for a parole hearing under the state’s new law that gives juveniles between the ages of 18-20 a second chance. Gov. The episode briefly mentions the conclusion of the Donna Adelson trial on September 4th before delving into Proctor's case. Proctor, the lead investigator in the Karen Reed case, was fired after the first trial due to misconduct. His administrative hearing aims to determine if his termination was justified. The Massachusetts State Police must prove his misconduct warranted termination, after which Proctor can argue for a lesser disciplinary action. The State Police attorney used strong terms like "distasteful," "unprofessional," and "disgusting" to describe Proctor's actions. The charges include: sending derogatory texts about Karen Reed, sharing confidential investigative information with non-law enforcement individuals, engaging in unprofessional conduct that harmed the State Police's reputation, and drinking alcohol on duty while operating a department vehicle. The last charge, though unrelated to the Karen Reed case, was uncovered through his text messages. The State Police presented 36 exhibits, including Proctor's own trial testimony where he admitted to his actions.Proctor's attorney is delaying his full defense until October, citing a lack of discovery from the State Police. He argues that prior to February 2024 (when his texts were discovered), Proctor was an "exemplary" 12-year veteran with no disciplinary record. The defense intends to focus on the texts as "personal things" that shouldn't lead to job loss, despite the irony of the State Police withholding discovery.
