Jeremy Marshall from Lagunitas has brought their Trooper West Coast IPA to Brew Ha Ha with Herlinda Heras and Daedalus Howell. Jeremy was on Brew Ha Ha on this episode of November 22, 2018. Lagunitas is putting on an air guitar contest to celebrate the release of their Trooper West Coast IPA. Jeremy will pour from a growler of the Trooper West Coast IPA, drawn straight from the tank. The  air guitar championship is set for 6/6/26. That’s Saturday, June 6, 2026, the same day as the beer release. Herlinda will be one of the judges. It’s a collaboration with Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickerson. He is a beer guy, an entrepreneur, and a motivational speaker too. To register as a contestant, you will need to provide your stage name. Sign up at Eventbrite right here under Lagunitas Trooper, or look on Instagram, Facebook. If you’re interested, act fast, since they will cap the number of contestants. The prize is an actual real guitar, a 50th anniversary edition Fender. Contestants must choose the song they will perform when they register. These are the three songs to choose from:– Hallowed Be Thy Name, 5 to 5½ minutes– Two Minutes to Midnight, 3 minutes– Phantom of the Opera, 6 minutes ++++++Visit Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Check out their website and socials for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more.++++++ A US Partner for Trooper Ale Robinsons Brewery in England was the first to give the name Trooper to their signature premium ale. There is also a Brazilian Trooper ale. So when Iron Maiden was searching for a US partner, Bruce’s son’s wife told Bruce that Lagunitas was the perfect fit. Eventually Jeremy went to meet them backstage after a concert. He brought a cooler full of samples to share with a who’s who of metal bands. He found that Bruce was quite articulate about what flavors he liked. The Lagunitas Trooper West Coast IPA uses a new hop called Krush. Jeremy likes its flavor profile. He tastes “weed, passion fruit, guava…”  It was HBC586 in development and now it's Krush. Watch out for a 100% Krush Beer for the radio station The Krush KRSH 95.9! Jeremy confirms that Heineken is letting Lagunitas be Lagunitas. Heineken is the only worldwide beer company that is still majority owned by the family. Jeremy went to UC Davis and studied brewing science. Michael Lewis and Charlie Bamforth were his teachers. They taught English ale styles, whereas Seibel in Germany is where to learn about lager beers. Lagers are a colder, longer stored style, like Coors Banquet or Budweiser. He describes the students at Davis as Beards versus Vests. Wine guys wore vests and beer guys had beards. Lager and Ale Compared to Lager, Ale is a little fruitier, and louder. If you hop it even more, you get to IPA. They are produced quicker and are more expressive and more popular in America. Wisconsin’s German-American community drove that city’s brewing history, so they made more German Lager styles. After UC Davis, Jeremy’s first beer gig was Lagunitas. Tony asked where else he sent the letter. He wrote to all the breweries that made the beer he drank at Davis. Most were Ales, like Arrogant Bastard from Stone. Jeremy has seen it all at Lagunitas. He knows that in the future, the successful breweries will have great focus and discipline. Other than Lagunitas, Russian River Brewing Co. is an example of that.

Why Did An ISP Trooper Get Shut Down When He Flagged A Delphi Suspect?

According to the defense's appellate filings, an ISP Trooper found "concerning similarity" between the Delphi murders and a suspect who had been flagged repeatedly by tipsters for posting images of dead girls with sticks over their bodies on social media. He pushed for further investigation. His superiors said no.This same suspect, according to the filings, sat across from investigators four days after the murders and admitted to practicing pagan rituals involving bloodletting. He owned a .40 caliber firearm — the same caliber as the round recovered at the crime scene. They recorded his interview. The Delphi Police erased the tape. They never collected the gun. When officers went to verify his alibi, his employer offered surveillance footage. They declined to review it and marked him cleared. In 2018, he allegedly created a painting of Odin hanging upside down — right leg tucked behind the left — matching how one victim was positioned at the scene. His associate, a self-described pagan religious leader who reportedly knew the murder woods "very well," had his interview go unrecorded. His alibi wasn't checked for six years. Neither man has been charged. The jury that convicted Richard Allen heard none of this. The defense argued it should have been admitted as third-party suspect evidence. The trial court excluded it.On the other side of the appeal is the document that started the case against Allen. Detective Liggett's probable cause affidavit allegedly misrepresented witness descriptions to connect Allen to Bridge Guy. Betsy Blair described a young man in his twenties with poofy brown hair — not a 44-year-old with a crew cut. The defense says those physical details were omitted while her jacket description was kept. Blair reportedly told Liggett these were two different men. Without this warrant, the defense argues, there's no search, no gun, no bullet, no arrest, no confessions. A Franks hearing to challenge the warrant was denied. An appellate court will now decide whether the exclusions and the omissions matter enough to change the outcome.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The defense's appellate filings lay out what may be one of the most troubling chapters in the Delphi investigation: two men with documented connections to the victim, to pagan rituals, and to the symbolism at the crime scene — investigated so poorly that the evidence trail was destroyed before it could lead anywhere. One admitted to bloodletting rituals and owned a .40 caliber firearm matching the round at the scene. His interview was taped over. His gun was never collected. His alibi was based on a badge swipe that officers refused to verify with video that was offered to them. The other told officers he knew the murder woods "very well," led a local pagan group, and reported knowing the victims. His interview was never recorded at all. His alibi went unchecked until 2023. According to the defense filings, the first suspect's social media depicted dead girls with sticks. An ISP Trooper who found the similarities "concerning" was overruled when he pushed for further investigation. In 2018, according to the defense, this suspect told his wife his associate killed Abby "with others." Neither man has been charged. The trial court blocked the defense from presenting any of this to the jury. This episode documents every failure, every ignored tip, every lost interview — the full picture of what the investigation chose not to pursue.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Send us Fan MailFive years ago, I hit publish with a simple goal: make mental health easier to talk about and easier to access. Now, Resilience Development in Action is built specifically for first responder mental health, because police, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers carry stress and trauma most people never see, then get told to just push through it.I'm sharing what's kept this podcast steady for weekly Wednesdays, including the behind-the-scenes support that makes the audio and video work, plus why I keep sponsorships limited to tools and brands I genuinely stand behind. You'll also hear why I don't want mental health care to be something you reach for only at the breaking point. I make the case for wellness visits, a practical “checkup from the neck up” that mirrors how we treat physical health and lowers the barrier to getting support early. We also dig into the work I'm doing with departments through FRTRESS, with a focus on education, familiarity, and referrals that actually fit the culture. And if you're curious about the video side, I point you to Apple Podcasts video and YouTube, plus a fun giveaway tied to what you can see on camera. If you've ever thought “I'm fine” while carrying too much, hit play. Send us Fan MailThe job can send you to the hardest places on earth, then expect you to come home and act like nothing followed you back.We talk with Kemmi Sadler, a retired supervisory special agent from the U.S. State Department's Diplomatic Security Service, about what two decades of protective missions, investigations, and overseas tours can do to your inner life. From her early years in local law enforcement to contracting overseas after 9/11 and then serving across posts like Iraq, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Mexico, and Washington, DC, Kemi lays out the real-world stressors that build over time: constant moves, family complications, and the relentless requirement to stay sharp. One story becomes a turning point, opening the door to survivor's guilt and the kind of grief that can linger for years when it never gets fully processed. We also dig into a barrier so many first responders recognize instantly: the fear that counseling could trigger “fitness for duty” questions or jeopardize a security clearance. When your identity is built around being the tough one, asking for help can feel like risking everything. We compare peer support, resilience training, and the idea of routine mental health wellness visits that work like a checkup rather than a crisis response. We close with the shock of retirement and why turning in credentials can feel like losing membership in a world that once gave you status, safety, and a clear sense of self. If you care about first responder mental health, trauma recovery, and the transition out of service, this conversation will stay with you.Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more first responders can find these stories. Here is how to reach Kemmi: www.klsadler.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/kemmisadler/https://www.facebook.com/klsadlerhttps://www.instagram.com/klsadler_/www.nonasway.comhttps://www.facebook.com/NonaTheWonderDog/https://www.instagram.com/nonas_way_/DeemedFit: First Responder OwnedWe are a first responder owned company looking to get first responders in the best mental shape.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Safety isn't a slogan when streets get crowded and celebrations kick off. We sit down with a Texas Department of Public Safety sergeant for an unfiltered look at Mardi Gras patrols in Galveston—how a small island city scales up with state troopers and partner agencies to keep families safe, traffic moving, and DWIs down without killing the vibe. It's a masterclass in proactive policing and the power of visible, coordinated presence. From parades to neighborhoods, we tackle a growing hazard: mini electric pocket bikes. They're fast, silent, and, under Texas law, not street legal. Our guest breaks down exactly why these “mini pocket bikes” don't qualify for public roads, what makes an e-bike legal, and how parents can avoid tragic outcomes by setting strict rules and keeping these toys off the street. Then we open the door on a quieter crisis—youth vaping—and how it's bleeding into underage DUIs. We talk real risks, from THC exposure to potential contamination, and share practical steps for families, schools, and communities to push back.Truck lovers and daily commuters will appreciate our deep dive into CDL testing, weigh station enforcement, and why overweight citations matter. The sergeant details the tougher inspections rolling out along major Texas corridors, what triggers mandatory pull-ins, and how serious crashes can shut down roads for hours. We round it out with a fast lap through automotive headlines: China's push for mechanical EV door releases after fatal incidents, Volkswagen's software-first strategy in China, Porsche's EV cost crossroads, and Cadillac's move into Formula One—all while dealer networks wrestle with direct-to-consumer sales models.Hit play for candid insights, practical safety tips, and a clear-eyed view of how policy, technology, and enforcement shape our roads. Matt Likes Beer – Episode 22 – Robinsons Trooper

NEOZAZ

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 11, 2026 31:00

Episode 22 of Matt Likes Beer focuses on one of Matt's all-time favorite beer styles: the Strong Bitter. The featured beer is Trooper, the iconic Iron Maiden collaboration brewed by Robinsons Brewery in Cheshire, England, a beer Matt has been drinking—and defending—for years. Matt opens by clarifying a common misconception: while many drinkers refer to beers like this as “ESBs,” that name is technically reserved for Fuller's ESB. Under BJCP guidelines, Trooper is properly evaluated as 11C Strong Bitter, the strongest subcategory within the British Bitter family—though still very much a low-ABV, balance-driven beer. The episode explores Matt's long history with Trooper, including how its rarity and style alone made it an instant purchase when he first encountered it years ago. That history leads into a fascinating discovery: the vast global Iron Maiden beer lineup, brewed with multiple partners worldwide and spanning everything from lagers and IPAs to stouts, sake pilsners, and imperial beers—far beyond the single Trooper label most fans recognize. Using BJCP 11C Strong Bitter guidelines, Matt conducts a full judging breakdown, highlighting the beer's brilliant clarity, deep copper color, caramel-forward malt profile, restrained earthy hop character, and deceptively dry finish. While the beer hits many stylistic markers, excess sweetness and slightly muted bitterness hold it back in competition terms, resulting in a final score of 34 out of 50 (Very Good). As with many episodes, Matt emphasizes the distinction between judging to style and drinking for enjoyment. Despite the lower-than-expected score, he makes it clear that Trooper remains a beer he will gladly continue to drink whenever it's available. The episode then delivers a collection of savage one-star reviews, ranging from stale malt complaints to over-the-top Iron Maiden insults, providing some much-needed levity.

On December 27th 2010, Georgia State Trooper First Class Chadwick LeCroy pulled over a car with a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. It should have been routine. Instead, it became the first fatal shooting of a Georgia trooper in thirty-five years. The man behind the wheel was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests stretching back to 1998. He'd been convicted of drug charges, weapons violations, forgery, and obstruction. He was on active probation in Cobb County. And he should have been in prison. This episode digs into everything that went wrong before that night. The rocket docket system that fast-tracked felonies and handed out lenient sentences to clear overcrowded jails. The July hearing where a prosecutor asked for four years and a judge gave sixty days. The December thirteenth release when no officer showed up to testify and a known flight risk walked free on a signature bond. The missed court appearance the morning of the murder that should have triggered a bench warrant. We examine the finger-pointing between District Attorney Paul Howard, Mayor Kasim Reed, APD Chief George Turner, and Chief Judge Cynthia Wright. We look at the failed push for Chad's Law and the reforms that came too little, too late. And we remember the man behind badge 744, the trooper who spent his whole life dreaming of wearing the uniform and finally got his chance at thirty-six years old. This is the story of a death that didn't have to happen.

This one is personal because I knew and worked alongside Trooper Chadwick LeCroy when I was an Atlanta Police Officer. Chad and I served together in Zone 2, and later I had the privilege of working with him when he joined the elite Georgia State Patrol Nighthawks DUI Task Force. He was one of the good ones – the kind of officer you wanted backing you up, the kind of man who made the badge mean something. On December 27th, 2010, Chad was murdered during what should have been a routine traffic stop. He pulled over a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. The driver was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests and ten felony convictions. Favors fled, crashed his car, and when Chad approached on foot – without drawing his weapon – Favors fired three shots through the passenger window. One bullet struck Chad in the neck. He died in the ambulance on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital. But here's what makes this case so infuriating: Gregory Favors should have been locked up. He'd been arrested just seventeen days earlier and was out on a nineteen-thousand-dollar bond despite pretrial services recommending he be held without bail. Three times in 2010, the system said he was too dangerous to release. Three times, judges ignored those recommendations. On the morning Chad was killed, Favors missed his court hearing. He should have been in jail, but instead he was free to murder a good man. The investigation was swift – dashboard camera footage captured everything. Favors stole Chad's patrol car, dumped it on Gun Club Road, and was arrested by Atlanta PD officers. After nearly four years of legal proceedings, he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received life without parole plus fifty-five years.Chad LeCroy was the first Georgia State Trooper killed by gunfire in thirty-five years. He left behind his wife Keisha, sons Bret and Chase, and a law enforcement family that still feels his loss. A bridge over the Chattahoochee River now bears his name, and a scholarship in his memory helps new troopers get their education. This is the story of how system failures cost a hero his life, and why there really are no such things as "routine" traffic stops. In memory of Trooper First Class Chadwick Thomas LeCroy, Badge #744. End of watch: December 27, 2010.
