Sports. You ever notice how weird that word is? ... "Sport" ... It's more like a sound effect than something that's an actual word. Like when a water balloon explodes; "SPORT!" Anyway, Brian and Ryan like sports and they don't care who knows! Well, sports games at least. Listen as we drop our favorites onto your ears with a big fat "sport" sound effect to accompany it. Once upon a time, way back in the early to mid 90's, there was this super cool, super edgy cartoon where humans had turned into mutants and they all played sports. In these sports they played, it wasn't uncommon for an athlete to lose a limb or three, or come close to a brutal death. This was Mutant League. Despite our childhood subconsciousness' best efforts to lead us to believe that this show was incredible, it was not. It is not. It really isn't very good, but it did make us laugh.
It’s time to talk about sports again and not simply the return of sports or the pause in sports. Tom Bragg, formerly of the Charleston Newspapers and HD Media and now out on his own, dishes about the Mutant League, sports without crowd, Neal Brown’s expectations and what he knows he’ll be writing about and what he hopes he’ll be writing about when WVU is back on the field again. This week, Kitty and Kevin wonder why weird takes on sports games are less popular these days; then the two use Sabrmetrics to pick their all-star undead line-ups in Mutant League Hockey and Football. Chilly Beane would be so proud.
It’s the Power of Glove for this episode of One More Turn. Kitty and Kevin talk about the difficulty replicating the real world in sports games, Mutant League, and Bill Laimbeer Combat Basketball in the opening discussion. Later, they take on the NES classic that put GM-mode on the map: Baseball Stars. Finally, the two give their artsy and sexy (?) video game recommendations. Enjoy!

We talk about ball handling a lot on Nerdy Show… But usually it’s less Friday Night Lights and more secret time with your wacky uncle. While the tossing of the virtual pigskin isn’t usually our favorite past-time – if you put some spikes on that ball, and have it being caught by a skeleton with dreadlocks covered in orc blood… that gets our attention. And it got our attention 20 years ago – Fans of gruesome gridiron massacres rejoice: Mutant League is back! What was once Mutant League Football on the Sega Genesis has been reborn as Mutant Football League and it’s searching for fan funding via Kickstarter. We talk with original series creator Michael Mendeim about bringing his gory and hilarious football game back from the dead, what new and returning features fans can expect, parodying the sports industry, the Mutant League games that never were, and the ground-breaking animated series. Join Cap, Brandon, Tony, Colin, and Josh as we also discuss Grand Theft Auto V, the other games we’re playing, and the RPG $upport Drive.Learn more about your ad choices.
