With viral hits like “Pretty Girl Era,” LU KALA has proven that she might just be the next big Canadian breakthrough artist à la Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen or The Weeknd. Her catchy songs about loving yourself and knowing your worth have amassed millions of streams all over the internet. Back in May, on the heels of her new EP, “No Tears On This Ride,” LU joined Tom Power to tell us her story, how she became more confident after being bullied as a kid, and what it felt like to see Serena Williams and her daughter lip sync to her music.
Movie soundtracks have given us some of the most unforgettable songs in music history, from Adele's haunting "Skyfall" to Seal's unexpected hit "Kiss from a Rose," we explore twelve iconic songs that made their mark through cinema. What happens when legendary artists create music specifically for the silver screen? We dive into Bruce Springsteen's approach to "The Wrestler" – a song he casually wrote after a concert and gave away for free – alongside Tina Turner's deeply personal "I Don't Want to Fight" created for her own biopic. Bond themes get special attention as we compare Paul McCartney's revolutionary "Live and Let Die" with Adele's moody, orchestral "Skyfall," showing how these musical moments reflect the evolution of the 007 franchise itself. Meanwhile, The Weeknd's sultry "Earned It" demonstrates how a film tie-in (Fifty Shades of Grey) can launch a song into the stratosphere regardless of the movie's critical reception. The mix also features the fascinating origin story behind Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson," which was originally written about Eleanor Roosevelt before being hastily repurposed for "The Graduate" with a simple word replacement. From Randy Newman's heartwarming "You've Got a Friend in Me" to the emotionally devastating "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, these songs prove that when filmmakers and musicians collaborate, magic happens.Whether you're a film buff, music lover, or both, this episode celebrates those perfect moments when visuals and sound collide to create something greater than the sum of their parts. This episode kicks off with Rome's vibe check and a recap of a wild week in pop culture, sports, music, and global news. From celebrity scandals to seismic shocks, the crew covers it all. First up: Shannon Sharpe's ESPN exit after settling a $50M sexual assault case. The hosts debate accountability, corporate optics, and what's next for Club Shay Shay. Then, Rome breaks down Gilbert Arenas' arrest for running an illegal gambling ring—asking why celebs risk it all for off-the-books cash. In reality TV heartbreak, Shan dives into the messy JaNa and Kenny breakup, while the crew unpacks Ari Lennox's critique of Martin and the legacy of problematic jokes in classic Black sitcoms. Jab takes over with a fashion-focused segment, celebrating iconic music videos that doubled as style blueprints—from Lil' Kim's “Crush on You” to Beyoncé's “Formation.” Then the team reviews Metro Boomin's A Futuristic Summa—a double-disc mixtape tribute to ATL's golden trap era, packed with bounce, synths, and nostalgia. Other key moments: Trump possibly pardoning Diddy? The hosts question celebrity privilege and the politics of power. A global disaster alert: an 8.8 earthquake in Russia triggers a tsunami watch across the Pacific. Oprah even opens a road in Maui. The crew reflects on disaster prep and survival priorities. Toxic lyrics takeover: Why are songs by Future, Brent Faiyaz, and The Weeknd making emotional damage sound so good? They discuss the fine line between vulnerability and glorifying chaos.

It represents the dedication, and the passion towards his craft. Coming from New York, the musician attributes his hometown as a major influence on his style, and sound. Born James Allen Worthy on March 28, 1992 in Queens, New York, James began pursuing music at the age of 16. During that time period James had the opportunity to meet the late great Michael Jackson at Webster Hall in New York City which inspired James to fully pursue a career in the music business. After moving to Atlanta, GA the singer, songwriter, and producers first musical experience was at his high school recording studio through a music mentoring program sponsored by Dallas Austin. His initial foray into music consisted of learning the art of songwriting which later turned into music production shortly after. Artissen was also highly influenced by artists such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Kanye West, Miguel, The Weeknd, and Pharrell Williams. While studying those artists he began to teach himself how to sing in 2009. This helped him begin working, and placing his work with mainstream acts, and songwriters. In 2017, James transitioned from music production to artistry, and began recording himself. He joined a duo group named Kings X2, and released their debut single "Wine For Me" in september of 2017. The single peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot Single Sales Chart for 5 weeks. Later in 2018 the group disbanded, and James released his debut solo single "Move" which features the rap group Whodini. Following up to 2019 James released his anticipated EP "Blu Leisure" which became critically acclaimed upon its release. The project included guest appearances from: Tony Terry, Sonna Rele, Kalenna Harper, and Whodini. Shakira BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Shakira has secured another major global headline by being announced as a principal headliner for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, set for September 27 in Central Park, New York. This is not just another gig—she'll be sharing the bill with megastars like The Weeknd, Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist, while Hugh Jackman returns for his eleventh year as host. According to the official Global Citizen campaign, this year's focus includes providing energy access to a million people across Africa, mobilizing 200 million dollars to safeguard 30 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest, and delivering quality education, in partnership with FIFA, to 30,000 children globally. Shakira spoke about her motivation for joining the festival, saying she's “honored to headline the incredible Global Citizen Festival in Central Park this September… Music has always been my way of connecting with people and leaving a mark on the world. I can't wait to perform, unite, and inspire action.” Press from CBS News New York and TimeOut New York has echoed how significant this platform is, especially given its intersection of entertainment and urgent global activism. Tickets are once again technically free, but hopeful attendees have to participate in advocacy actions to gain entry. This Central Park appearance is uniquely timed as a standout pause from her ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which continues to make waves across the U.S. and will soon hit Latin America, including Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, and Ecuador. Her recent stadium show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, announced and promoted heavily by the venue, reaffirmed her enduring arena-filling appeal. On social media, Shakira's engagement shows no signs of slowing. An Instagram video surfaced this week where Shakira appears recharging in the sun, teasing fans to “expect more for your hair,” fueling speculation about a possible new beauty or personal care collaboration, though details remain unconfirmed.Looking at recent trending headlines, the festival announcement has dominated reputable outlets like CBS, TimeOut, and Global Citizen's own platform, elevating Shakira's current activities to the level of biographical significance—this is a global impact moment, not just a musical milestone. No major controversies or negative news tied to Shakira herself have broken through in the last few days. While less substantial, Shakira also became an unexpected talking point in viral pop culture when another Shakira—Love Island UK's Shakira Khan—sparked debate for her fame-related comments, but there is no relation to the artist, and confusion seems limited to fleeting social media buzz. At this pace, Shakira's 2025 looks not just busy, but legacy-defining.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

Shakira BioSnap a weekly updated Biography. This week has been all about Shakira dominating headlines with both her professional achievements and her enduring influence as a global icon. The most prominent news is her announcement as a headliner for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, set to electrify Central Park's Great Lawn on September 27. As covered by NY1, Shakira will share the stage with The Weeknd, and the event is expected to draw massive crowds while focusing on impactful activism, like expanding electricity access in Africa, educational opportunities for thousands of children, and protecting the Amazon. Hugh Jackman returns as host, and more performers are to be announced. The buzz across outlets like Vinyl Me Please and MusicTalkers underscores the festival's significance in both music and philanthropic circles, adding another star turn to Shakira's legacy of blending entertainment with advocacy. On the career milestones front, Shakira continues her reign as a record-breaker. According to The Business Standard, she recently shattered 14 Guinness World Records with her Bizarrap-produced song Music Sessions Vol. 53, including accolades for the most-viewed Latin track on YouTube in 24 hours and the fastest to reach 100 million views. If that wasn't enough, Jimmy Kimmel Live surprised her live on air with her many Guinness certificates. With 17 records to her name now, Shakira holds strong as the Queen of Latin Music. She's also midway through her globe-spanning Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which saw a recent date reschedule at Houston's Toyota Center as efficiently communicated by Ticketmaster, reflecting both her professional reliability and enormous fan anticipation for the biggest tour of 2025. Social media and fan reaction to the tour, including praise for ticketing transparency and the live show experience, further affirm her power as a crowd-puller.On the personal side, Shakira remains candid about the hardships she's faced since her high-profile split from Gerard Piqué, admitting to Live From E! that “life hasn't always been kind” but crediting recent challenges for her personal growth and resilience—a sentiment picked up widely in gossip and entertainment reports. Her acceptance speech after winning Best Latin Pop Album at the 67th Grammy Awards echoed her advocacy, dedicating her award to immigrants and hardworking women worldwide. Amid all this, Shakira's social channels brim with promotional teases for her tour and the upcoming Central Park festival while fans celebrate her world records and Grammy win. There are, at present, no credible or verified reports of major business ventures or speculative developments; all eyes remain fixed on her official appearances and public milestones. As summer unfolds, Shakira stands not just at the top of charts, but at the center of culture, activism, and conversation.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

Welcome To The Real Oshow,0:00 Intro0:49 Justin Bieber & Scooter Braun $33 M Settlement7:00 Justin Bieber is the Michael Jackson of this generation12:38 Justin Bieber Swag album review19:00 Drake Headlining 3-Day Wireless Festival in London 21:20 Closing Thoughts On this week's episode of The Real OShow, brothers Joshua and Zachary dive deep into Justin Bieber's brand-new project, Swag. We were hooked from the moment we hit play, and not just because the music hits. We break down our favorite tracks, how the vibe feels like classic Bieber with a fresh twist, and why this might be his most personal project yet. We also discuss the $33 million settlement with his former manager, Scooter Braun, and what it means for Bieber's future. With two albums left on his current deal, Justin's clearly playing the long game. Self-funding this project, for the most part, sets the stage for an independent path à la Drake's OVO or The Weeknd's XO. It's not just business moves, though. From vocals to choreography, JB's doing it all, and we make the case for why he might be the Michael Jackson of our generation. Childhood star? Check. Global icon? Check. Still evolving and relevant? Absolutely. Whether you're a Belieber or not, this episode celebrates one of the greatest pop stars of our time. All love,

This week on the Need to Know Podcast, Savon steps into his “Councilman Von” era (00:30) — breaking down how he's mentoring college interns at Need to Know Studios while chasing side quests like a real-life GTA mission game (02:15). At (14:15), they dive into Drake's “What Did I Miss?” — from the icy backroom stream to the Chuck Liddell “Iceman” comeback theory (20:00). They unpack the LeBron, The Weeknd, and Kendrick subs (25:30) and debate if Drake's “Scorned GOAT” energy is playing itself out. Next, it's Pusha T vs. Travis Scott — from Pusha's slick shots to Travis's weak clapback, and why not every rapper should die on the lyrical hill just because fans want it (56:30). Then (1:00:50), they unpack Jay-Z's quiet power plays — why Hov always sees everything, how he drops billion-dollar subliminals when it counts, and Nicki Minaj's public call-out of Roc Nation (1:04:30). By (1:10:00), they pivot to the real lesson in Nicki vs. Jay-Z: comparing her rant to Scooter Braun's big machine tactics and why Cassie's low-key Diddy lawsuit shows how smart money moves are made (1:12:30). Finally (1:15:00), they share a hilarious story about Jamie Foxx's surprise “grown son” moment, the secret kid paranoia, and the reality of avoiding messy headlines — with one last message about betting on yourself, side missions and all.
